Hi Jalebi, how are you doing? I have to say this. Your take on Shyam and Kushi relationship dynamic amazed me. It is a very unique perspective which many wouldn't have thought of. It makes so much sense and it makes my heart break more for Kushi. :(
So for my ask, I have a fun one. Arnav is a very private person and even more so, when it is about Kushi right! But somehow in their sangeet, they all know about the almost-kissiya. Apparently from her reaction, it isn't Kushi who spilled the beans. So in your view, with whom did Arnav discuss this and how do you think that conversation might have gone? And what would have been the reactions of all family members from both sides, when that person discuss this publicly for writing those lyrics?! I have always wondered about this and it made me laugh trying to imagine this. Lol.
Thanks for answering this.
Hello Anon,
Thank you for liking my post! It is still painful for Khushi that she has a terrible support around her life tbh.
Haha, that is an EXCELLENT question. To be honest a lot of the sangeet felt like such a fever dream because so much did not make sense? LIKE WHO WOULD KNOW ABOUT THE KISS AND WHY?
Also, jokes apart it was also during the time when Arnav was committed to someone else so it's him telling his family that he cheated on his partner and his family... gladly putting that in a sangeet?
It's honestly so difficult to imagine this because it's two things - given Arnav he would've either told this in confidence or by mistake, and either situation clearly means of course this is not something to put in public.
Either way to be in canon I can imagine NK begging Arnav to tell him something romantic about his love life. It would be funny cause it would go like this:
NK OS: The Tales of Nannav and Khushi Ji
Arnav: Khushi tells me I must help you.
NK: Aww, and you never not listen to her, don't you?
Arnav: Yeah... that has had a great effect on your life expectancy.
NK: *cough* Thank God *cough*
Arnav: So what do you want? And be quick.
NK: I need to know what is something romantic that you did to hear and the moment or explanation behind it or what happened afterwards!
(Arnav pauses to think for a few minutes)
Arnav: I bought her bangles,
NK: Wow Nannav, then?
Arnav:: Then I refused the fact that I bought the bangles.
NK: ... do you have anything else?
Arnav: Yeah... I saved her in the rain.
NK: Amaz-
Arnav: After I sent her to manage my company's parking lot post working hours.
NK: Nannav, that's not romantic.
Arnav: I know, I agree. How about us being mistaken as a newly wedded couple in Nainital?
NK: OMG, finally that is so romantic.
Arnav: Yeah, maybe. I mean Khushi did empty half of my fuel tank so we were stranded midway, we got beaten by some goons and at the end we learned that Babuji had a paralytic-
NK: For God's sake Arnav, give me ONE romantic moment.
Arnav: I kissed her cheek by the pool.
NK: Yes!-
Arnav: And I told her she was incapable of accepting the challenge to kiss me back.
NK: WHAT THE F-
Arnav: Umm... talking about that I did nearly kiss her by the pool during Diwali?
NK: That's it, shut up, that's perfect. Do NOT give me explanation. I beg of you do NOT give me any explanation.
Lol... to think of it this is hilarious.
Best,
JWB

Stardust
Our relations define us. Our life is a product of who we meet, know, or live with. It has been 955 days and 22,920 hours since I posted my first blog post here. It is now time for a small revealer.
I was not even in middle school when my Nani (maternal grandma) passed away. To be truly honest, I never came to understand her properly. When she was running behind me, I was busy enjoying my new world out of mom's uterus, and when I got some sense, she said goodbye. So she was 'Neelam.'
But this blog isn't about her. It was never about her. She wasn't a poet, writer, or a philosopher. And she did not possibly teach me any of the things I write here on Tumblr. Then what did that old lady do that she has her name written right on the top?
'Vaahini' in Hindi means channel. And my pretty granny decided to make me a delicate channel. So, some stardust was sprinkled on me by my grandma (who is possibly enjoying a glass of wine with the Gods now). And that canon event has led to all the beautiful writing I do. My Nani gave birth to my mother, but that is not too big of an accomplishment.
Nani, you still deserve a million thank yous, and well yes a blog by your name for doing something magnificent. Thank you Nani for raising a girl who is much more than my mother.
PS: She is not at all like you and does not make better food as well.
Thank you Nani for making me fall in love with the festival- Janamashtmi. It was because of you that I dressed up as Radha and sang in my very horrible voice a famous Bhajan dedicated to Lord Krishna.
As a writer, I have had many Eureka moments, and I know that it is your stardust that brings me all those values you couldn't give me in your lifetime.
On a slightly different note...
We go to Uttarakhand every year. Every year it is. My mother loves it and now I have to love it too. I have literally visited every inch of this state. From Haridwar to Chamoli and from Dehradun to Nainital, there is beauty, beauty, and beauty. Aesthetic, spiritual, and cultural beauty. Too much beauty and altitude make me dizzy. But when you know it is the comfort destination for your mother, you end up loving even the mischievous monkeys that reside in every temple’s corridor. Believe it or not Mom, today when I am getting accepted by universities abroad, I understand why the snow in Uttrakhand is gold.
My mother has taught me what a family is. I can’t possibly say that we are the best family in the world because the life I am living with them is the only life I know about. And I can't possibly say that Mom you are the best mother because you are the only mother I have ever had. Plus that would be unfair to Nani. But what I can say is that I am the best version of myself today because I have you.
Happy Birthday Mumma!
This blog isn't the best description of you because you know you are not the best mother in the world.
Tumblr media
Nani, you have to help me choose. Which bhajan from your abundance am I supposed to sing next?
Tumblr media
I greet the divine within you-"Namaste"

I dont even remember what was said in it as all i can see is the body doubles, and that hand rubbing khushis cheek to clean the drawing just before they go? Cant remember when but it properly annoys me haha. Love ur replies and analysis keep it up for us still loving Arshi. Biggest thankyou!
Hey Anon!
Oh I so wish they had the script supervisor just note which car they used to create some semblance of continuity! I totally understand why they’d use body doubles but then considering how prominent Sanaya and Barun’s hands are, why they’d go for hand close ups and just why they chose completely different cars… sigh
To be honest when you’re shooting rapidly and daily these important things can be really missed out on! I’m sure on the editing table they realized that damn the nail work just doesn’t match (they tried to crop it!) and the cars don’t match either but probably what’s most important is to get the episodes out in line at the proper time!
You can see below they super cropped in but couldn’t do a anything much cause it was evident how different the hands were!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However all said and done it is a BEAUTIFUL scene, one of the best ones post elopement and is absolutely worth the watch! It adds the emotional gravity we were so waiting for!
It’s a shame there wasn’t a common schedules for the actors that day and that very obvious discrepancies were visible (I can bet that even the directors and editors went “ah shit”) but perhaps it’s one of the few times I can watch over an obvious error.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also at that point ipk was seriously breaking down in terms of budget - I think a lot of the production stuff was probably being funnelled to other shows? - because you could start to see the set wear down, makeup go off, cinematography slightly cheapen and all.
The scenes also are suddenly too brightly lit. You see the way they managed outdoor Nainital versus the garden and you’d understand there was just a higher quality of equipments employed previously.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(You can see the difference in colouring lighting costume and makeup - massive yet subtle differences)
It’s a good scene though - just hear it out - it ties up the conversation Arnav had with Khushi about parents becoming stars and the whole Anjali Arnav bangle conversation.
Sigh, if they’d only top that scene with Arnav actually giving her his mum’s bangles it would’ve totally closed the loop! But hey very few shows give things in retrospect at this point (where the writers were changed or new writers stepped in).
Small things though could’ve made the scene easier:
- give Sanaya a glitter mehendi or a real mehendi with sketch pen to the body double
- give the body double short red nails instead
- have Arnav wipe Khushi’s face with a handkerchief so in a closeup we have the thumb wrapped in a hanky
- choose the same car for the actors to blend the scene
- have the master shot instead of close ups where they touch each other’s face so we can see the full moment between the actors (the pic below is a master - which is usually a wider shot with both the leads in)
Tumblr media
- shoot the hands from the other side so we don’t see the nails but just the hands together
But also there were moments where they got the lighting and body double position really right where you can easily believe it’s arshi! And that is tough considering you need to command eye line, where they’re looking, outdoor lighting and all to look cohesive!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, I hope you give this scene a chance regardless! Cause tv is tough to perfect, especially under pressure, and sometimes when the writing is brilliant you can forgive other things 😊 I’d always take good writing above two actors in the same frame doing shitty scenes (for example the swami track eww)
On a funny note, the hut scene did give us the worst of both worlds 😂
Best,
- JWB
