I've been thinking about the 'Sebastian making hyper-realistic confectioneries' again, so I wanted to share the scenario with you that I've just been typing out:

"Well, Young Master, tell me:" Sebastian leaned in with a smug smile upon his lips "is the item upon the table real, or an edible immitation?"

Ciel's eyes narrowed in concentration, regarding the object on the platter in front of him, before widening in realisation of the devil's wording; if there was one thing he had learned over their years together, it was that one should not listen to the meaning of the words that his butler spoke, but rather of the ones he didn't.

He lifted his head to meet with the man's proud gaze. "On the table, you say? Not on the plate?"

The demon's expression changed almost interceptibly, and Ciel knew that he was on the right track.

"It's not the item on the plate that's made of sugar. It's the plate itself." The Earl announced.

Sebastian snickered and politely lowered his head, eyes closed as he replied. "Well, my lord, very perceptible of you to notice my careful phrasing."

A self-satisfied smile stretched across Ciel's face, wiped away near immediately with the look in his butler's eyes when he once again opened them to meet him.

"However, I'm afraid you have still missed your mark."

Sebastian straightened, hovering the knife not above the confectioner's cookbook, nor the platter upon which it sat, but rather his own hand rested neatly upon the edge of the table, cutting deep into the glove to reveal it as nothing more than a clever construction of sponge and icing. Ciel stared dumbly in shock as the butler licked at the rich berry jam that smeared the blade in place of blood, the demon’s eyes half-lidded, watching him back intently as he did so.

"Do try harder next time, sir."

Thinking about the tragedy that is Ciel and Sebastian’s relationship.

They have a twisted power dynamic. Sebastian’s stronger and is inevitably going to eat Ciels soul. Ciel has the power of the contract and is going to die in the end.

Sebastian is raising someone who refuses to be a child, raising him like cattle for the cultivation. Ciel know this, knows it well but he acts regardless, doesn’t let it deter him.

We, the readers, can tell that they have begun caring for each other. Against their better judgment, they care now. They worry when they get hurt, when things go wrong. But in the end, none of that’s going to matter.

Ciel is going to die at Sebastian’s hands. That’s as clear as day, a fact of life now. They both know.

Will Sebastian feel regret or will it just be another meal. Is Ciel going to be afraid or will it just be another night for him. What will they feel when the end is near?

A Tragedy is an story that is based on human suffering that culminates in catharsis.

Theyre going to be a tragedy.

something about these two makes me nuts. how she's always thinking about him, always finding reminders to hold on to. the way that lizzy is still mulling over the ring and how she wanted to give him a replacement to make up for her blunder, only to fail. she'll never get an opportunity again. yet that ring was a curse. and the flowers woven into a ring, flew off the second she reached out to them.

and in the last moments of ciel's life, as he's watching the feelings people had for him manifested in lights, the flower ring floats to him. how the original ring only reminded ciel of his burdens, his nightmares. and this flower ring, temporal and frail, is placed on his finger, made out of pure fondness. her wish was granted after all. how there's always a connection between these two, that can traverse life and death, a single thread of true affection and neither of them knows it.

i never watched black butler, so this is another crossover i have zero idea of how it'd work, but having said that, I will take this opportunity to say I think ouji lolita fashion would look good on Tanya

i truly say this with no malice in my heart but black butler fans who think the series peaked at book of circus/that the circus didn't deserve their fate........... are 7 times out of 10 not really black-butler-as-a-whole fans and are very unwilling to engage with the main themes and characters of the series as a whole. BoC was a fantastic high and had tons of engaging characters but I've met people who still hate ciel bc he had doll killed and that is CRAZY. to love a side character so much that it renders you unwilling to let the main/objectively most complex and important character into your heart at all. I'm sorry that the circus died but even though they loved each other they were also child murderers- in doll's case she still is LOL- and their most important narrative role is their impact on ciel/snake (whose plotline ties back to ciel's ideas about lies becoming the truth, so still a ciel thing ultimately). anyways the best arcs are Green Witch because it's good and Book of Murder because it's funny
