So I'm watching Bit (2019 vampire movie) for the first time and it's...so fun. There's a lot that's cheesy and in some ways plain old silly but its fun and interesting and of course references so many other vampire stories... it's just a real good time, clearly made by people that love the genre. Heartily recommend.

now off the top of my head it could be referencing how nandor will be following guillermo as he tries to get a normal job or something like that next season (given that the lower of the 2 bats looks like they're going after the top bat who's going off somewhere away from the rest)

* Oooo Colin’s eye makes him too interesting. Not what I thought! Tricky tricky teasers making me think this was a big plot point to do with him being a relatively young energy vampire. I guess Colin and Nadja just aren’t going to have any kind of multi-episode arc this season. It seems like all their stories will eventually converge on the Guillermo-being-turned plot.

* The real question is how much does Nadja’s loyalty to Laszlo extend to her desire to help Guillermo? Also, hearing Laszlo say he wants to reverse the process of Guillermo’s turning was new. I had assumed he wanted to figure out what was happening, but actually full-on reversing it is interesting.

* Ok, who else was just waiting for Nandor to grab Guillermo’s face with his hand? That would have been… terrifying and amazing.

I have several jossed wwdits fics that would have been so fun if i’d got them out before certain events. But now, I just don’t think they have the same vibe. Like, you could still enjoy them, but because we know what happens next, it kinda detracts from the overall experience.

16.) What are your writing strengths?

I’m pretty good at aping someone else’s style, I try to maintain strong character voices, I’m funny and people tend to like the ideas I have.

17.) What are your writing weaknesses?

If I’m tired of a fic (not necessarily of the fic itself, but of writing it) I often do the bare minimum. Fuck you (marry me) strikes me as an example. People seemed to really like that fic and there were only one or two chapters left, but I had very little motivation to write. The final chapter was written essentially by pushing through until I’d finished it, and certain things I’d tried hard to do in the beginning (e.g. give harrow’s narration a very distinct and obvious voice) fell by the wayside in favour of getting it over with. https://archiveofourown.org/works/50096647

I also often publish barely edited fic for the same reason.

18.) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fics?

Like it, will do it depending on POV. If the perspective character understands the language, i might write it in English for ease of comprehension. If they don’t, i might write it as is. I would usually put translations in the notes, but I don’t think I’ve actually had occasion to do it so far.

19.) First fandom you wrote for?

On AO3, Be More Chill in 2018. I will not link that, I refuse. (It’s on my page, but it’s archive locked.) In life, i think i was writing self-insert discworld fanfiction around the age of nine or ten.

I wrote it all without external input (I normally publish at least somewhat as I go, but for BRE, we posted it all at once on one day) and I am so proud of myself for getting it done to a level I’m proud of. But not very many people read it, I think partly because it’s a chunky beast to try and get through all at once. So when it comes to the reader response, I’d say my melini cultural history museum series https://archiveofourown.org/series/4190293. So many people have commented on that and for such short pieces, it’s a lot of positive feedback relative to the effort I put into them. But besides my shameful 2018/19 fic, I honestly love everything I’ve put on ao3.

So I just kinda wanted to reflect on this but it's actually kind of insane to think about how WWDITS has impacted my life. Like when I first started watching it I was just staring at Lazlo and Nadja being in a happy healthy poly relationship in a way I'd not really seen portrayed before and just looking at them thinking "God that's the dream isn't it?" And solidly thinking it was impossible.

But then I met someone on a dating app who I bonded over this show with who felt the same way I did and was also poly and also wanted a relationship with that vibe and now they're the love of my life and we even got matching Lazlo and Nadja pfps and just fuck man, it's insane to think about how much I owe you this show

I finished a rough draft of the script!

It was so hard to not put it in normal writing format but I did it and my friend who is helping write it loves it.

The only problem is I kept wanting to go into horror vibes with it and couldn't because it has to be kid friendly since a lot of the cast is gonna be kids between like 8-17. But it's a Halloween play what do you expect, I am planning on writing something horror/kinda comedy once I have more time for it and don't have to work on writing the play anymore.

WWDITS is one of my favorite shows and I love the movie too Nandor is my favorite but I also love Laszlo, most of my friends have only seen the movie and first two seasons so I can't really talk to anyone about it 😅

So I just finished watching the six individual episodes that got Emmy nominations for outstanding writing in a comedy series like I've been threatening to do and here they are ranked from best to worst:

Pride Parade - WWDITS

This might be the best episode of any sitcom I have ever seen in my life. There is so much that happens in this episode. I've seen it a million times and I still don't know how they fit everything in AND made sure everything got enough time. This episode has EVERYTHING. Nandor goes to space. Laszlo terrorizes people at the beach. Colin Robinson and Ghost Nadja both posses Nadja's body. It's insane. This episode absolutely deserves the Emmy (though we all know it won't win). And I still want to know why Nandor wasn't speaking to Matthew (the little bird that flew into his room that he was trying to befriend) anymore lol

Also Natasia Demetriou absolutely should have been nominated for a best actress Emmy for her performance in this episode alone but that's a story for a different time

2. Orlando - Girls5eva

The 30 Rock vibes are immaculate. I had no context for anything that was happening and I still loved every second of it. I was literally laughing the entire time I was watching this episode. Paula Pell especially is outstanding. This one episode made me want more and I need to watch the entire show now. I loved it

3. Brooke Hosts a Night of Undeniable Good - The Other Two

God this episode was so fucking chaotic and insane. I literally don't even have anything specific to say about it. It was just so fun??? Also that fricken song that Cary and the other gays were singing is stuck in my head. Amazing episode no notes

4. Career Day - Abbott Elementary

Now, I absolutely adore Abbott, which I'm sure you can all tell by now, so it really hurts me to put it so low on the list, but honestly Career Day was the weakest episode of the season in my opinion. It was still good - the whole plot with Melissa and Gary was so well done and heartbreaking, and some of the jokes about Ava going to Harvard to use their wifi to earn a degree from Grand Canyon university were hilarious, but overall I think this episode could have been way better. It just felt like something was missing, ya know? I think there are some other episodes from this season, like Smoking or Party, that were better overall and maybe deserved the nomination more. I still love this show, but this episode is kinda meh

5. Bulletproof - Hacks

I know absolutely nothing about this show or the characters, but the episode was still so compelling. This is definitely a show that handles the whole "dramedy" thing well from what I can tell. I definitely enjoyed this episode, but it just wasn't quite as good as some of the other episodes that got nominated. Also, that scene on the plane with the sorta proposal was amazing lol

6. Fishes - The Bear

This show is not a comedy. Full stop. It is a drama. Like, sorry it can't compete against Shogun, but how is that WWDITS' fault? Or Abbott's fault? Or Girls5eva's fault? It should be in the drama category - NOT stealing nominations from actual comedies.

That being said, this episode was just not good. It was so boring. It couldn't hold my attention for more than a few minutes at a time, and it was just so long. It felt like it was never going to end. And I swear it was 90% people yelling at each other and nothing else. But don't worry everyone, I'm sure this is the episode that will win the award, despite being the least deserving by far 🙄

currently reading?: i WAS reading Fables (the comic) but i actually finished the bulk of it. i still have to read the fuckin... batman crossover which i'm delaying because i don't really know anything about batman but it's apparently canon so i'll read it eventually. the only other thing i haven't read besides that is the comic adaptation of TWAU but like... i JUST played the game, i'm not hard pressed to go through it again in comic form right now. i probably will go through it eventually. other than that i checked out a complete collection of Grimm fairy tales on my hoopla app so whenever i want to faff about on my phone i just open that and read some. it's all of them so i get to go through the popular ones i've already read in the past or at the very least seen adapted in pop culture and also the less known ones for the first time

last song you listened to?: i'm listening to music RIGHT NOW!!!! it's Never-Ending Waltz by Snow White Blood. beautiful symphonic metal song about the tale of Cinderella. SWB quickly became an absolute favorite of mine and I keep listening to their songs. Ulli's operatic vocals with the heavy instrumentals is incredible, and all of their songs are about fairy tales (all except 2 cover specific tales, You Belong To Me is just a subversion of happily ever afters and The Court Jester is an original tale. also a cover of P!ATD's The Emperor's New Clothes which i love way more than the original but that's my own bias because it exudes evil unhinged woman vibes). my favorite is Hamelin because it slaps so hard and also pied piper my beloved. okay i spent too long typing it's actually You Belong To Me playing now lmfao. if anyone is reading this and checks them out umm tell me 😳 i simultaneously am afraid of and also want to share songs that i love

last series you watched?: OKAY I AM NOTICING A TREND LMFAO i was watching the anime Grimm's Fairy Tales Classics............ i was doing some little tasks on my computer and i wanted something to have on in the background that would be nice but not too distracting. i got to the bluebeard episode iirc. read bluebeard recently too actually. other than that i haven't been watching... anything... i keep saying i'm going to catch up with WWDITS but i'm keeping myself busy with reading or games or drawing so i don't really want to sit down and commit to watching something :/

Now I can’t get it out of my head that a crossover fic of WWDITS and Re8 would be the wildest thing to read. Like Nadja, Laszlo, Nandor, Collin, and Guillermo would just be ruining MM’s life at every turn. Direct and indirect. Cuz there’s no way they would let her get away with the shit she does, but the shenanigans they get into would also drive her nuts.

Nadja would befriend the Dimitrescu family with ease. Might help them with controlling their feeding habits, would reassure them that their bat form isn’t into bugs. Would try and smooch Donna on sight and cause chaos with Angie and her little doll self she has. Sal, she would feel bad for the guy and try to be his friend. Karl might be hit and miss. Probs would fight him and after they would be best frenemies.

Laszlo would vibe with Karl the most, probs gonna drink with him and smoke cigars. Somehow, he is also besties with the Dimitrescu family (the girls think he’s funny and Alcina respects his respect for women). Also loves Donna but more platonically. Supports Nadja and Donna’s relationship. Fights with Angie on the reg (may have been kicked out for a bit for destroying a part of Donna’s house after trying to get away from Angie and Nadja.) Sal is his bud, tho. They would watch films together and Laszlo would get him some non moldy ass food.

Nandor would just be vibing and hanging out with everyone. Low-key gonna usurp MM when given the chance cuz even she tests his patience. He would straight up be down to spar with the Dimitrescu daughters and often flies them around. He would be that cool and awkward uncle and this earned him residence at their home.

Collin would just be draining everyone’s energy, manages to get into any home, and often “ruins” the meetings with MM. almost got knocked out by Donna and Karl a few times. Alcina has tried killing home at least a dozen times but he drains her too quick.

And Guillermo would just be a nervous wreck the whole time. Trying to fix shit and make sure they all don’t end up in deep shit. He would be also the most protected and would live with Nandor at the Dimitrescu castle (He’s the one who takes MM out on accident, cuz he’s just that kinda guy).

for us, it was like a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it kinda thing because i only showed him at work one time, but yeah he worked in construction for a year or two. that’s how he got the scar on his leg, by falling off a platform and getting scratched with metal. that’s also where this scene took place fjkjsd

hmmm not really tbh, because i choose their names pretty early on and i’ve never really regretted any of them before! i usually pick names based on vibes (and heritage obviously) rather than by meaning, so i think it’s easier for me to just pick something and stick with it :)

i actually have known about the movie, but i didn’t know about the show until an anon told me about it!! i’ll probably give it a shot when i finish the series :)

nadja is definitelyyyyyy my favorite, i love her so much 😭 but all the characters have their own charm (even colin robinson fjksjd) and i think they split screen time perfectly, because i never feel like i’m missing someone for too long or that i’m seeing too much of anyone. it’s really just the perfect cast imo. even the camera crew feels like a character, and they acknowledge the cameras just the perfect amount!! like as much as i love the office, you do have to suspend your disbelief a LOT when it comes to the camera crew being everywhere yet hardly being acknowledged. wwdits uses it for comedy without letting it be annoying! i’m sure i’ll have more thoughts on the show when i’m finished, but right now all i can really say is that it makes me laugh even when i’ve been really depressed this month and that’s really cool :’)

that’s so cool omg!! guillermo is like the glue that holds the show together, i’m so glad they made those decisions for his character / the show. and i’ve definitely heard about the pirate show fjksjd i will probably watch it someday, but right now it’s like the ONLY thing i see on my personal blog dashboard, so i may be harboring some resentment for it lmao but it does look like a good show!!

colin robinson thoughts rest in peace king 😔

he can't be actually dead. not only would it throw off the whole vibe, but narratively he's not done. he never found out where he's from or how energy vampires work. interpersonally, only really laszlo was giving him the true family inclusion he desired and craved. it felt like everyone was warming up to him, but nandor wasn't even there for his last few moments. Colin died with nandor being mad at him.

also his mom, who I think was at least implied to be an energy vampire, is still alive.

so here are some of my favorite theories I've seen floating around. reblog with any others.

it's part of a natural metamorphosis process energy vampires go through. especially with how gooey his brain was and how distinctively different evs are from normal vampires this seems to make a lot of sense to me. there's also been quite a few references to him being young this season. Sean said he looked kind of like a fetus, he is genuinely young compared to the other vampires, colin himself this episode said he was prepared for a change of self after "wasting" his first 100 years. this season has kind of leaned into his more childlike nature, he acts like a kid excited by having just a little power over guillermo and nandor in the cage, making the same mistakes with with prod multiple times, searching for his identity in relation to his family which is a very coming-of-age narrative, and his bodily function jokes/body humor. not saying his characterization is that of a child, but rather leaning into this part of his character could have a larger connection to the idea that he's still in his infancy and has more phases to grow into.

theyre gonna bring back one of the clones. I feel like it would be a good use of callbacks which we've seen them do effectively before (ie the sinkholes), but I can't think of a way they'd bring this up that wouldn't cheapen Colin's death. and since it already kinda felt cheap, cutting it with barely any change would fall kinda flat imo

he comes back as a ghost. we know he didn't have a ghost before, so now that he's actually died maybe he has a ghost now. and he sure as hell has unfinished business. but it would make me sad that his whole arc might hinge on the fact that he would die again once he's finished his business

I did see someone say this was all just a super slumber dream that nandor was having. while unlikely given laszlos whole characterization, it would be kinda funny to see nandor frantic about this thing that's ultimately completely untrue. and it would make Colin's death hurt less 🥲

But damn this is tough. I absolutely adore the aesthetics and vibes of vampires - I love Buffy, wwdits, and I have to say Twilight is one of my guilty pleasures. But, I LOVE zombies - zombie films are the best, and I'm a huge huge HUGE fan of liminality and dystopia and apocalypse stuff and I just love the idea of a zombie apocalypse so I'm gonna have to go with zombies

22. Do you have a collection of cool rocks?

Indeed I do 😌

I've definitely had a bigger collection in the past but I will never be without a few cool rocks here and there in my room. I bought some little jars a while back so there's a few rocks in there, and I've got my shelves of wonders with a few rocks there as well

24. What have you learned about yourself?

This past year has been a clusterfuck of discoveries about myself - I've always known I'm queer but it was only recently that I was really like woah I fucking love men, also I met a lot of cool people and left some not so cool people, and I'm not diagnosed so I don't like saying anything for sure but I'm pretty certain I'm autistic (all my friends are neurodivergent and they all agree lol, also my old counsellor said it made sense so I feel slightly less imposter-y than I did but still) so that's come with a lot of realisations. And this is kinda weird but I've also learned that I'm a happy person - like with new friends and new freedom with the neurodivergent realisation, I'm kinda letting myself actually be happy which is pretty cool - like I've always been a very nice person but extremely quiet and sad so I've just been more outgoing and positive?? If that makes sense??)

I'm a neurodivergent artist who talks about gay vampires (wwdits) a lot!

I do have other interests tho like ofmd, good omens, hannibal, re-animator, interview with the vampire, the band ghost, the world of mr plant, south park, and so much more (it's just that wwdits is just what I think about the most)

I made a uquiz a while ago that basically tells you what you would be if you where in the wwdits universe (a vampire, a familiar. an energy vampire etc)

as you can probably gather by now I primarily do pixel art but I also like to doodle/sketch with good old pencil and paper

I make a LOT of kandi (primarily singles) buuut I don't really post it on here (I mean unless someone asks me to I'm more than willing to share)

I kinda write? like I've written fics before and I DO have a bunch of wips but it's kinda hard for me to finish a fic due to the fact that I get distracted easily and the fact that I'm really dyslexic (you have no idea how badly I wanna fist fight the english language in a denny's parking lot at 3am)

oh while it's not a medium or anything but I'd like to mention I LOVE to draw characters from the media I like as pastel bunnies! (tho at this current moment it's primarily wwdits characters I draw) is it weird? yeah but I like to so I'm not stopping anytime soon if you want a rough explanation as to why I made a long post about it

as I've already said I have dyslexia, I possibly have ADHD (never officially diagnosed buuuuut really fucking confident I do and a past therapist said I most likely do), I keep running into situations where I question if I have autism or not so take that as you will, and despite what it may seem I have really REALLY bad social anxiety (well I have overall anxiety too but let's just say there's a reason I spend a lot of time online and not out and about)
