i feel like i need to add onto this because when my grandma said that phones were made for phone calls and texting ruined human interaction i immediately disagreed with her. But she was right. Having a phone call is a task that many young people just do not have. It's a well know fact/joke that millennials and younger cant make phone calls. Having to make one can ruin my afternoon with anxiety.

and text (and similar) aren't actually much better. At least for me. I'm terrible at keeping up with people. There are some long-time friends that I have that I barely know what's going on in their lives. A large portion of me talking with people is me sending people things that other people wrote or made. Memes. You know. The usual. The relationships I do maintain are few and far between and superficial besides. It's very isolating.

so uh tdlr: generative ai is not the source of the loss of social skills, but it greatly exacerbates the problem. Additionally, maybe we should interact with people more thoughtfully in long-form communication. At least I should.

also since i just spent 8 extremely long, slow hours chained to a table with my grandma (it was not long or slow because of her i love my grandma) i got to remember how hard it is sometimes to have a conversation with people not in the weeds about ai.

Like, no no the "ai taking over the world" that's not really a thing. But I can never sufficiently explain how much that isn't a problem. That's not my wheelhouse because learning more about it always seemed like a waste of time.

We did agree on the loss of basic skills and the not participating or enjoying life. She thought this started with the invention of the text message, however. Maybe I should get into sending letters. Much to think about.

She did not have much to say about ownership and copyright, however, since her usual fare is selling wooden bowls. She mostly nodded along while I ranted about that guy who generated a ghibli preview.

Creativity knows no limit with this shooter

I believe that every photographer is an artist, true photography is much more than just pointing and shooting, there are many things to consider — like lighting, perspective, composition and editing, this weeks artist thats Behind The View Finder seems to have mastered all of the above and more @thirdoptic seamlessly bends photography and design and has one of the more unique accounts on @instagram.

Whats your style of photography, what type of images do you identify with most.

I would say my style of photography is more on the landscape/street/urban side.

Which photographers influenced you.

I was heavily influenced by Estevan Oriol, Atiba Jefferson, Mike Miller, Willie Toledo, Martha Cooper, Sally Mann and of course Stephen Vanasco and Timothy McGurr.

What technology (camera/software) do you use most? 

I was using a T1i for like 5 years but now I use a Canon 6D and edit mostly on Lightroom. If I do any photo manipulations, I just bring it into photoshop.

What motivates you to continue taking pictures?

Just being able to create and inspire people through an image.

Which is your favorite lens? Why?

Canon 24mm f/1.4 just because it works well with the type of photography I shoot.

What camera gear do you wish you had? Why?

Hmm probably a Canon 1D X Mark II because of the shutter speed.

How do you educate yourself to take better pictures? 

Just shoot and experiment on different subjects. Learn from other photographers you admire. Not being afraid to try something new.

Among your works, which one is your favorite? Why? 

Not too sure. I am usually never satisfied with my work. I feel like I always need to improve.

I’d say my favorite photo is the one I haven’t shot yet. Still Searching for that.

What is the one thing you wish you knew when you started taking photos?

Having a better sense of composition to an image and not just snapping away. Timing is everything.

Stay patient and trust the process.

What makes the good picture stand out from the average? 

The subject and composition. Coming from a different angle that you don’t normally see.

Where are you from, where do you live.

I was born in the Philippines and raised on Guam. Moved to San Diego in 2007.

I am currently based in Seattle. Been here since March 2015.

My friends always pushes me to surpass the last pictures i take

Which is your favorite lens? Why?

Currently working with the sony 16mm f2.8 wide angle lens. It allows me to capture sharp images and is very good at night shots.

What camera gear do you wish you had? Why?

I wish i had the Sony A7r2. Ive never had a full frame camera.

How do you educate yourself to take better pictures?

Surround myself with other photographers and collaborate ideas.

Among your works, which one is your favorite? Why?

I have to say my Mount shasta shot is probably my favorite. It was just one of those where I was at the right place at the right time.

What is the one thing you wish you knew when you started taking photos?

I wish i knew about other editing softwares to help me achieve what I wanted to portray.

The concept, the wow factor, and the execution.
