Without further ado, more overture stuff 💫 (please check tags for warnings.)

Overture isn’t used to being one of the younger members of the team, at 22. Despite earlier hesitance towards them, the agents of Valorant do treat him like a teammate and friend. Overture grew up isolated and as due to his living circumstances, was his little sister’s primary caretaker even though they were in their fathers’ custody. He’s had to be the ‘older brother’ for most of his life, and almost purposefully isolated himself from others during his adulthood before the Valorant Protocol. He’s not used to older agents treating him like a little brother, or even like a son.

Despite his lack of social skills, Overture’s very glad to be a part of Valorant. It’s a little ironic that the boy who runs around with bones decalled on his shirt is often the one raising morale: with years of being his sister’s caretaker, he’s gotten used to reading others’ emotions, although he still messes up on occasion. He doesn’t always have solutions, but he’ll always listen.

Reyna scares the shit out of him. With her ability to suck the life out of people and hard attitude, Overture is always a little bit frightened of her. Plus, with his special interest in old tech, her anti-technology attitude also gets under his skin.

Overture has an ancient 3DS XL, which he plays Pokémon White on. Killjoy has offered to get him an emulator to play old games on, but he declined after swiping up his 3DS at a shop.

Finally getting to talk about Overture’s relationship with his heritage. After his mother’s murder, Overture’s father began slipping farther into the depression he was already in, becoming neglectful, which is why Overture had to step up as his sister’s caretaker. Since Overture was so young when this happened, and trying to comprehend his mother’s death, he leaned heavily into what reminded him of his mother: old music, the punk subculture, and playing guitar. His bad relationship with his father spurred him to not want to engage with learning about his Japanese heritage; which would have been hard anyways due to his father’s lack of a want to talk to his children. In his late teens, when he was maturing and finally coming to terms with his identity, he started trying to make an attempt to connect with the culture he never got to experience due to his own reluctance. But the damage was already done: most of his father’s family members were dead or didn’t speak English, and Overture doesn’t speak much Japanese besides a few textbook phrases. Most of what he knows about Japanese culture is from reading food blogs, stories he half-remembers from his father when he was 9, and anime. He feels a large disconnect to his heritage despite his attempts to learn and understand more, which is a source of frustration to him. He wishes his family was better.

(He doesn’t ask Yoru either. He thinks it’s embarrassing to ask the man “What are some foods you grew up eating?” or any questions he has. Plus, they don’t like each other anyways.)

He picked his real first name, “Akira”, so he could match his sister Chihiro, who was purposefully named after the film Spirited Away (their dad’s a film buff). He absolutely adores his sister.

He wants to pet Skye’s dog so bad… Soooo bad.

He idolizes Gerard Way and Sage.

No, seriously, he thinks Sage is soooooo cool. Calm, collected, and she has the ability to heal? Wow! Overture doesn’t make her out to be a saint, but she definitely is someone he looks up to.

Fade and Overture bond over liking coffee and missing that person important to them. At first, Fade scared him shitless, but over time, Fade and Overture have become friends. Not as good friends as Overture is with Phoenix and Raze, but they’re definitely friendly.

Overture, on top of being a guitarist, also has a good singing voice. I bet he, Phoenix, and Neon have little singing sessions in the base :)

Overture loves cats. Another reason why he’s friends with Fade!

I’m still working on Overture’s backstory, but I think he definitely has some anti-Kingdom sentiment; he definitely distrusted Brimstone at first due to him proudly brandishing a Kingdom logo on his person, but now he accepts Brimstone as Valorant’s leader.

He doesn’t own a weighted blanket, so he sleeps with, like, 4 blankets on top of him. His bed is literally the cozy kingdom. He keeps forgetting to buy a weighted blanket… dumbass.

He’s my little guy. A blorbo? Can your own au version of an oc be a blorbo? I refuse to call him a blorbo. But if he’s your blorbo, okay.

Chiaki:

-Honestly, she's pretty cool with it. She's never been the judgemental type, and likes that it makes you happy!

-In fact, she'll be very supportive of your hobby! Chiaki would come with you to conventions and take pictures with you in your fursuit.

-She likes that you don't take it too seriously and can laugh about it. You and her would have inside jokes and even memes about this.

-She'd allow you to put cat ears on her head. She's already sleepy, relaxed and does what she wants, so it fits perfectly.

Mukuro:

-She may be the Ultimate Soldier, but Mukuro has very little understanding of the world around her, especially things common on the internet-- Junko shows her things but it just turns into that "it's a meme, batman" joke.

-"You're a what?" She'd ask, completely baffled. Explaining would lead to more questions and confusion, but eventually she'd get it.

-She'd be very aware of her surroundings when you joked around with friends about it, in case someone needed to be punched. But she soon realizes it's all in good fun.

-You tell her that she would be a wolf, and every time she denies it. When you point at her tattoo as proof, she laughs and gives in.

Chihiro: *I used they/them pronouns for now but I can change them if you prefer a different set!

-Chihiro has always liked furry art and the like, but was too embarrassed to get into the fandom.

-After meeting you, they saw that there's nothing to be ashamed of! You could have fun together.

-Chihiro is pretty sensitive to jokes, even if they aren't directed at them, so you have to reassure them that it isn't mean-spirited.

-Their attempt to draw a fursona was adorable, but hilariously bad. You couldn't tell what animal it was! Clearly, programming was the right choice. As it turns out, it was a rabbit.

Kirumi:

-She wouldn't be familiar with furries either, but listens intently to you talk about them.

-Her sewing ability is quite helpful. If you need any maintenance on your costume, or anything of that sort, she'd do it!

-She might jokingly refer to you as her dear *insert whatever animal your fursona is here* with a light laugh.

-Thinking it would be a fun conversation starter, she took an online "What animal are you?" test. Her result was a gazelle, which is strangely accurate.

-Kirumi is happy to be with someone who broadens her horizons. She's learned a lot from you!

is it too predictable or unfair if i say more enthusiasm for oc’s? let me say first that my experience on this blog is the best i’ve ever had by far -- all of y’all are so nice and show interest in my oc’s and it makes me feel very very thankful to have found mutuals who are willing to give them a chance!! so when i say that, it isn’t directed at anyone i follow at all!!! but i do notice other mutuals with oc’s occasionally feeling down bc their characters aren’t getting enough attention or worrying that if they make one, they won’t get to write them much. and personally, i fret over making certain canon characters more available bc if they suddenly get more attention than the characters i’ve built from the ground up, that’s an icky feeling. 

i know it can be tiring to read through bio’s, but? don’t we read hundreds of chapters for characters of our favorite manga? i dunno, oc’s are a soft spot for me, so this is always going to be on my mind uvu 

19. who is an author that inspires you?

is it alright if i cheat and talk about hayao miyazaki bc technically he’s an author since he’s a writer, even if it is for movies asdfg bc honestly speaking, miyazaki has influenced my preferences so much as a writer, from the characters i write to the kind of fiction i enjoy and where my focus lies when i’m writing. depending on the film you choose, you’ll get different themes and whatnot, but 99% of the time, you’re going to find strong female characters, found family or life-changing relationships, and emphasis on the beauty of nature. 

it’s really obvious i have a preference for female muses, but i never make female characters who need to be saved. do they need a lil help or guidance bc they let their minds sabotage them? yeah, but in the way that sophie needed help to realize the way she saw herself wasn’t accurate, or in the way chihiro and haku helped each other remember who they really were. and using those two examples again, sophie and chihiro experience the found family trope/life-changing relationships, and that helps them grow as people. that sort of character development is always something i favor bc it’s so satisfying, especially when i’m writing a character like chiyo or makiko who have a lot of skewed perceptions about themselves. they could eventually turn out okay by themselves, but their relationships give them the extra push they need and provide a sense of healing and validation that really!! touches my heart :’ ))

as for the beauty of nature, it’s something that comes out a lot more lately bc of kaiya who looks at the world with so much wonder, but i often find myself writing my characters finding comfort in nature in some way. chiyo loves the rain to the point that she’ll play in it even as an adult and risk a cold, and the sounds of thunder soothe her; makiko views fall and winter as periods of rest and reflection and feels most at peace watching the sun rise. even in my writing, i have a tendency to compare my characters or my partner’s muses to things like the sun and flowers, too, or i’ll describe emotions similarly. you get the idea asdf 

also may i point out my river guardian/dragon oc, mister yubari, and the lore i’ve barely talked about on here that is 100% inspired by spirited away and japanese mythology : ) i love dragons and mythology too much and i blame miyazaki for the brainrot i occasionally experience as a result

btw sorry for writing so much when i could’ve just said i love hayao miyazaki and left it at that!

Celeste does act differently. Being with Makoto has not only made her so much happier but she's learned how stupid her "dream" was. She's learned that greed can never fill that hole in the heart like love can. Yes she wants her castle still but it's to have a large place where she can have "At least 12 kids to start with Makoto-kun ufufu~"

She still does have her mean streak and it definitely pops up more when dealing with her children xD. Celeste is nicer to her husband in private and public, she kinda matured and learned to stop acting like a vain shallow brat.

Venera is a shy sweetheart like a mix of Seiko and Chihiro. Ironically enough Celeste is happy that Venera hasn't inherited her temper or personality. Venera herself adores her mother, she looks up to Celeste composure, beauty, grace, and strength. That's why her dream is to build a castle for her mother. Although keep in mind I like to use two different Celeste. The first Celeste is the one you and I know who we're talking about here. The second one I like to call Taeko Naegi, a more angst/tragedy version of Celeste but for the most part Venera still acts the same and looks up to her mother even in that AU (I have some Taeko stories here just search for NaeCeles in my blog).

And yes personally I like Venera the most since I worked hard on her design. Sayaka's daughter is my 2nd favorite in terms of creation/design as well.

Thanks! Yeah, I share my birthday with Mondo! And wow, some of these were harder than I realized. What kind of stuff would actually be in a Lucky Student’s lab?

Makoto Naegi- some luck-based games, a room that’s probably barren of much to trip over in case bad luck strikes, good luck charms like four-leaf clovers. There’s probably a few things he’s moved in there on his own, since there really isn’t much one could associate with luck as a talent.

Kyoko Kirigiri- a very dark room, more modern than Shuichi’s with some research materials such as a laptop with a database. Likely there are police reports like in the library archives for her to study, as well as simulated cases she could solve to hone her talent.

Byakuya Togami- very studious and plush, but with a business-esque feel to it, like a higher-up bank with a waiting area. It’s very well-lit, and official looking enough for him to practice to take over the Togami Corporation.

Toko Fukawa- a comfortable desk in a well-enough lit room with enough paper and pens for her to write with, as well as a collection of all of her books and books she likes to read. In the back, there’s a closet-like area that leads to a smaller room for Syo, in which there are dummies and her trademark scissors.

Yasuhiro Hagakure- a dimly lit room with a fortune-telling station. It’s very comfortable in there, somewhere he likes to hang out a lot. There’s also different kinds of fortune-telling supplies, such as a crystal ball and tarot cards.

Aoi Asahina- her lab is essentially like the pool area in Hope’s Peak, but it also has different equipment like an automatic timer so she can time her laps without having to have another person in the room with her. It’s always a little more hot and humid in there than the other labs.

Sayaka Maizono- her lab has a small stage she can use, along with a microphone and some sound and lighting equipment to practice for her performances. There’s an area for her to get the feel for new outfits she’ll have to wear, as well as an area for an audience. It’s very well-lit in there, and is often kept cooler to prevent her from growing too warm and passing out from overexhaustion.

Mukuro Ikusaba- her lab is more like Maki’s than anything, with an assortment of weapons and targets to practice on. However, she also has books on the art of war and battle tactics, as well as maps depicting many different historic battlefields.

Leon Kuwata- a batting cage along with other equipment to help improve him game, though it mostly goes unused. He doesn’t use his lab much at all, and would rather hijack Sayaka’s lab so he can work on being a rock star. He’s not even completely sure what his lab looks like.

Chihiro Fujisaki- there’s a large computer with multiple different windows so he can work on multiple things at once, kind of like in his official art. There are many different additional things, like flash drives and extension cords, should he need to store or move anything. He loves the chair that he has in there, since it offers a lot of back support.

Mondo Owada- his lab has a nice-sized track for him to ride his motorcycle on, as well as an area for him to fix it up and clean it when it needs to be. It reminds him of his and Daiya’s garage at home.

Kiyotaka Ishimaru- it’s like a principal’s office, almost, with everything ordered and in the exact right spots. There’s a rulebook on the desk, containing all of the school’s rules as well as some that should be observed everywhere. His lab gets a lot of use.

Hifumi Yamada- his lab is chock full of drawing supplies and everything he would need to produce his fan comics, as well as all of his favorite manga volumes and anime seasons. He practically lives in his lab, especially when there’s a con coming up.

Celeste Ludenberg- her lab looks like what she would want her dream castle to look like, almost, but also with games for gambling and a place even for her cat, though he’s not at Hope’s Peak with her. It’s more dimly lit, like Kyoko’s lab, but is nearly as plus as Byakuya’s.

Sakura Ogami- her lab is like Tenko’s dojo, but with equipment that’s more generalized than specifically for aikido. It’s a good size, and reminds her of her family’s dojo. The door is always open for someone who wants to work out with her.

Junko Enoshima- there’s racks upon racks of outfits that fit the current styles, as well as a catwalk-like area. There’s also a vanity for her to apply makeup at, with a little compartment with brain teasers for her analytical side.

My man Kin is Chihiro Fujisaki! I had a nice canon I think? Nice in the regard that mostly everyone survived! Mukuro became really good friends with us and felt guilty when Mizano died so she had a ‘chat’ with Junko and got us freed. I was best friends with Leon who was the shsl cake decorator and I was the shsl muralist! I can go more in depth another day because I’ve had a lot of time to really think about this stuff and what not!

I also guess I kin with Himiko, Komaru, Akane and other stuff tooooooooo.
