Rosaura Revueltas (Salt of the Earth)—She was a Mexican actress who is best known for starring in salt of the earth, an amazing pro-labor movie made by blacklisted filmmakers. She also starred in the Mexican remake of madchen in uniform, one of the first representations of lesbian romance onscreen. She was really dedicated to making progressive films and was also such an incredible actress and artist I truly believe more people should know about her and her work.

Romy Schneider (Mädchen in Uniform, la piscine, 10:30pm Summer)— Such a beautiful woman and she has the full range: she can be anything from cute to seductive to tough - and all the time she's elegant. Also you just gotta love how she left Germany and her fame there behind to start all over in France, wanting to break free from always being typecast as the cute (royal) girl. She put an extreme amount of energy into learning French perfectly in just a few weeks so she could prove herself by starring in a theatre play by Luchino Visconti (who put enormous pressure on her). Anyway, everything went well and she could continue her career in French cinema with more complex and challenging roles.

She only had a brief stunt in Hollywood but starred in many French movies plus of course the role I know her best for, Empress Elisabeth of Austria in the movies Sissi. I see those eyes, I see that smile and of course her voice and just, perfection. Warner Bros. planned to do a movie about her, which was sadly cancelled but there is also a musical about her life, because she is just that great. (According to Wikipedia she told the author of her biography that she was what we would call bisexual these days, but because the source is french I can't confirm it)

Not to be that person but like. With the fandom picking up with S3 (yes! love the excitement!), I've noticed a bit of a concerning trend. In the past couple days I have gotten over 250 kudos across my fics (which is wild!)

You've gotta support content creators more than that, you can't treat them like Kudo/Like Goes In, Content Comes Out. Artists, gif-makers, writers spend hours working on content and then, because we're nice, we share it with all of you. If you enjoyed it? Let us know! Yeah, a kudo is nice, a like is nice, but it's the bare minimum. Let us know what you liked! Doesn't have to be anything big - just a comment that you liked it! Maybe there was a line you liked. Maybe you felt some emotion. Maybe the coloring or the shading or the composition is really great. Let the artist know that!

And then? Reblog it! If you liked it, odds are there are people that follow you that will also like it. If you want, put those comments in the tags of the art or gif so the artist gets to see them. And don't worry if it's an old fic/gifset/drawing! The creator spent hours on it, I guarantee they are keeping tabs on it and will LOVE knowing people are still enjoying it. It's not weird or taboo.

This is a community, and it's more fun for everyone if we share and talk, rather than like and hoard.

I'm really lucky that I have established myself as a fic writer enough that this is an irritation rather than demoralizing. But to a new fic writer? This could be devastating. Comments are like fucking heroin. They're amazing, they motivate like nothing else. I reread them constantly. To not get any makes it easy to spiral with doubt that actually nobody liked it and then what's the point in sharing any future projects?

Creating content is a labor of love, but do your part so it's not thankless labor - it's how you keep creators motivated to keep creating things we all enjoy. We're a community, let's talk and hang out like one.

1. The thing that got you hooked on hockey

it's hard to pinpoint one moment because i honestly genuinely believe that it's the best sport in the world just in terms of pure mechanics and objective viewing enjoyment and live crowd atmosphere so it's easy to get hooked once you actually watch it... i've been on and off with hockey fandom itself and took a few years away from tumblr until recently but i'd say it was a mix of just watching games + discovering fandom spaces on tumblr/reading fic on ao3 + having a decent home team at the time + canadian tax etc.

2. Your first ever fandom friend

ngl i think most of the people i first met in hockey fandom eventually moved onto bts (or k-pop in general) lmfaooo but i met @regularseason when i was in 11th grade making connor mcdavid gifsets and now i am somehow 25 years old. we have seen so much on this vast internet together ❤️ 

3. The jersey you would most like to own

MOOTERUS BROS RISE UP ☝️🐮  absolutely my favorite jersey of all time i genuinely don't think any other design comes close. i also really love the stars rr 2.0 but i finally bit the bullet and bought it so that's out... another top contender would be sabres goathead 🐐 and maybe mighty ducks era pkariya, also i think the sharks rr 2.0 with the spin on the seals logo is sooo cute and i love the og sharks logo designed by terry smith as well... specifically the classic late 90s teal jersey. and my fav regular home jersey of current teams is the kraken :')

i have way too many opinions on jerseys honestly. if i could pick some from my warmup jersey database then i lovelovelove the habs 2023 bhm and pride designs (i have apparel for both of these...), the leafs indigenous celebration design, and the kraken women in hockey design. gorgeous girls!!!!!

(real talk like a big part of why i got into the stars and came back to sports tumblr was because of him despite having 0 geographical ties to texas LOL. admittedly there was some superficiality involved at first in seeing an asian guy achieve top-line star status against the restrictive pains of bones hockey but then i was like oh your game is actually efficient and understated as hell? and it kind of spiraled out from there. my favorite deceptively abnormal "boring" guy!!!)

5. A pairing that deserves more fic

i will echo 2124 💚 but i am part of the problem for having 4 partial aus in one doc and not actually writing anything of substance for them... otherwise there are a ton of rarepairs i could argue in favor of but i feel like i'd sound insane. where is the otter/woll boston goaliefic... where is mitch/nrob with robo being vaguely horrified but trying to be supportive of his brother's poor decision making skills. where is my sabresfic and kidsline shenanigans in general......... also if we're going back to the stars then 2141 honestly have so much untapped potential wrt Why Are You Both So Weird Can You Please [Redacted] About It. but you get the gist i'm sure!!!

6. Your favourite on-ice moment

my memory does NOT go that far back. whatever is the most embarrassing thing to have ever happened to some guy i hate is good enough for me

immediately the first thing that came to mind is that i still think zoe's 2129 primer is one of the most fantastic and comprehensive labors of love this fandom has ever seen... truly one of the major backbones of starsblr. honestly despite hockey fandom not being quite what it used to be on here i think there are sooo so many great creators making stars content and i am immensely grateful to all the gifmakers + artists + writers who constantly feed me no matter what time of year it is!!! i'm kind of shy but you know who you are... I recognized the first gif you asked for by the look of it, it is from this gifset by @/heartnosekid. I know Ish linked a tumblr post that has reposted the original video with the proper source attached and linked correctly as his source for the gifs, but I wanted to make sure others didn't miss it if they intended to re-gif this video. Here is the original source of the video.

I also immediately recognized the second gif you asked for, it's from this gifset by @/talos-stims.

I checked the rest of your sources, I hope that's okay. I just like to be thorough when I do this for someone.

I also noticed Gif 4 (originally by deactivated user @/judestims) was misplaced. Here is the best source I can find for the original gifset.

As for any indirect links you used as sources, the direct sources for those are listed below, if you wish to change them. I do this only because stimboard makers that aren't gif makers who regularly make gifs tend to delete, rename, or deactivate their accounts much more often than gif makers themselves, and when that happens, the source typically gets lost or at least much more difficult to find for the average stimboard maker, creating a broken link chain to the original undeleted source.

Gif 3, Gif 5 (original video), Gif 6, Gif 7 (original video seems to have possibly been deleted or relocated, gif source is good for others to use, however).

1) What fic did you have the most fun writing this year and why? Or, if you can’t decide, what was most fun about writing this year for you?

i had the most fun writing what we stay alive for this past year, it was really a passion project of mine that turned into this wonderful labor of love

2) What’s a scene/story that you finished and felt “wow, I really accomplished that, that actually went so well”?

probably loving you with no conditions, i've always really wanted to write a fic with that premise but i put it off for a long time because i was worried i wouldn't do it justice. but in the end, i think people really liked it, and it's one of the fics i'm most proud of tbh

3) What helped provide the most inspiration for stories, if anything? Was it poetry? A song on repeat? A gorgeous gifset? A walk outside? A book you read that made you want to change everything? Whatever it was! Tell all.

unfortunately the thing that inspires me most continues to be running/exercise. i cannot even begin to tell you how many plot bunnies/outlines i wrote in my head during runs last summer when i was training for a race. idk what it is, but when i'm locked in with my headphones on, my mind starts to wander and it gives me some really good ideas (and some wild ones, but those are fun too from a creative standpoint)

4) What is something you want to share about what you’ve written this year? A particular line, a comment that made you feel really good, a scene that was difficult to write — you get to choose! What do you wish someone would ask you about when it comes to what you’ve written?

god, i don't know. i've gotten a lot of really wonderful comments this year, too many to pick just one.

a scene that was difficult to write would probably be all of chapter four of orange juice, that fic overall is hard to write (but i still want to finish it someday)

but i write more fluff than anything so i also wanted to add a scene that was really fun to write, and that was writing mickey high as fuck in i need you (like cake on my birthday)

and to start off 2024…

1) Do you have any writing/creation goals for the year? What are they?

my goal for the year is to write two (2) complete multi-chapter fics. i mostly exist in the oneshot world in the shameless fandom, but i miss plotting big long fics and i really want to try and stick with at least two this year.

2) Is there a fic or idea that you’re really excited to be able to continue to work on in the new year (shout out to my fellow fic writing folks who take forever to finish wips, sometimes it’s nice to be able to continue working on something even if you wish you’d gotten it done! Now you get even MORE time with it!)

i think rock star mickey au is the idea that i most want to see come to life in 2024. i've been plotting it in my head since like july and one day i want to be confident enough to actually write the vision that plays on a loop in my subconscious.

3) What’s something new in your writing you want to try/are going to try? A different writing style? Different fandom? Darker works? Fluffier? Longer or shorter?

god, i mean, i guess i want to try writing more smut? i don't write a lot of it rarely any ever but i want to put a little bit in my big bang fic, and maybe some in some other fic ideas i have too. so yeah. maybe i'll try more of that in 2024 idk don't quote me on it.

4) What’s something you love about your own writing that you will continue to appreciate in the new year?

honestly i really like the way i write dialogue. it sounds very natural to me, idk if anyone else agrees, but when i re-read some of my fics i'm just like yeah exactly he would say that

(and maybe it's bad or wildly out of character but idk. i like it.)

people are so amazing ;; like no one asked you to read stuff, write stuff, draw stuff... no one asked you to write that cute little comment or send that thoughtful ask or reblog with wonderful commentary... no one asked you to do research into this niche thing just so you could yell about it in post or make a fic/drawing concept work... no one asked you to edit episode clips or learn color theory for fun gifsets... no one asked you to spend so much time, effort, and energy into these immensely creative, incredibly inspired works of art, in all its shapes and forms, from the common craft to the most unexpected labor of love.

for all its pervasive issues (and they do exist!) content creation on various digital platforms still requires an extent of intrinsic desire... a simple need, want, fervor to create, even when no one asks. people are so amazing
