Thanks to photos from the New York Toy Fair in 2017 we're fairly lucky in that there's photos of the prototype plush (Right image) so we can compare them to the final versions (Left)! They're on ebay fairly regularly if you're on the hunt.

The earlier Blinky has seen undeniable horrors.

AAARRRGGHH in comparsion didn't change all that much, mostly taming his fluff and making his eyes larger.

Bular had one of his frequent colour changes, shoulder pads and clearer teeth.

Jim (Affectionately known as Jom) went through a colour change and gained a bit of hip armour. Kept his Dreamworks face tho.

There is one other plush out there whose price ranges from incredibly reasonable to terrifying.

His Toy Fair look was essentially a scaled up version of his smaller self whereas the release is very different in build making it clearer he's a different toy entirely. From what I've heard he's very huggable to boot. Occasionally you will see him listed as a throw pillow for some reason so do bear that in mind!

So twice, within a short time, I had a dream where Reaper was chasing me and trying to find me and I was scared until the second one where he was protecting me from people from my past who were toxic and abusive influences in my life. Since then, he became my comfort character and I sleep with the plush Funko toy every night.

Idk what you would want to do with it, but I could use a little more of that scenario in my life with two of my best friends deciding they wanted to cut me out of their lives due to reasons I don't feel like getting into here. Maybe like a self-appointed guardian angel or something?

You've only met this man three times in your life, and while history remembers him, sometimes you couldn't help but wonder if he was a figment of your imagination.

Three times, this man has saved you. Three times, in different parts of your life, has he been at the right place at the right time...and three times, this man has changed your life.

Gabriel Reyes of Blackwatch saved you when you were a little girl during the omnic crisis. Windows were shattered, doors blown to pieces, cars on fire in the streets. There was so much destruction, and at the tender age of seven, even you believed it was the end.

When omnics had started to seize your building, it was Gabriel Reyes who blew apart those that nearly killed your father. Hidden there in the closet, you could see out the crack as your father had kneeled there shaking, hands up as omnics had surrounded him...and suddenly...it was safe. The sounds of the bullets at this point were merely background noise to your little mind, as you struggled to make sense of that day, that moment.

But you would never forget his face, as he helped your father get to his feet. As your father opened the closet, picked you up and the two of you were escorted to a hovercraft evacuating the area.

The second time you saw him was in your late teens- you were working as a part time waitress for one of a diner down in the lower quarter of the city. Crime those days were non-stop, and safety procedures for small businesses like this were non-existant.

A pursuit down the road had led to a couple of low-life thugs using your diner to hide- and you as a hostage. This job had merely been meant to help you save towards college, and the idea of dying in that mustard yellow uniform was sickening.

Even as they stood before the counter, gun pointed at you...they didn’t notice the wisps of black smoke that slipped through the cracks in the door. The swirl of darkness behind them as a black cloaked figure became solid, red eyes glinting through a skull mask..

“Duck,” he rasped behind them, before the black mist around him exploded. You don’t know why, but your body obeyed and you felt yourself drop to the floor.

The bullets that flew through the air, filling holes in the bodies of the men who’d held you up at gunpoint...you saw the blood splatter, the bodies hit the floor and you kept your arms over your head. Minutes passed, before you realized the sound of the bullets whizzing by had stopped.

When you lifted your head to look over the counter of the ruined diner, you saw the figure walking out. He seemed to stop in the doorway and look over his shoulder briefly. “You’ve shit luck, kid,” he growled, before seeming to just...melt away, the smoke trailing off.

It was only later, after you’d had time to sit down and drink coffee after talking to the police that you thought for the first time in years of the omnic crisis, and the man who’d saved you. You convinced yourself that maybe they were the same, even though Gabriel Reyes had been known to be dead for a long time. 

No one believed your theories, and said it’d all been coincidence. That the men had likely owed Talon money, and that the dreaded Reaper had just managed to track him there. That perhaps he’d thought a lowly waitress wasn’t worth the bullet.

The last time you saw him...was last night. 

You were now in your early twenties, living life on your own. You hadn’t thought of him much since, and yet... 

You remember the feeling of fear that filled you last night as you’d realized you were being followed home. The way you’d fumbled with your keys, quietly whispering please under your breath over and over. The man that had come up behind you, faceless beneath his hood, taking advantage of the night and its cover.

“Don’t touch me!” you had screamed, as he’d turned you around, squeezing your eyes closed. “Help me, somebody!”

You don’t remember hearing anything except the disgusting noise of the man breathing heavily on you. No footsteps, no approach. The street had otherwise been empty, you thought.

Yet you had gasped, as the weight of the man pressing you into the wall lifted- your eyes opened in time to see him violently thrown into the street by a hooded man.

“I get sick,” you heard faintly, the disgust apparent in his voice, “of men like you. The next time you lay your hand on anyone, I will rip out your eyes and shove them down your throat. Then you can see what its like to have your guts blown to pieces,” he snarled.

There was bloody claw marks on the man who’d tried to assault you- so much blood. Even he was so terrified that he couldn’t make a noise, and he simply made a mad dash down the street in the hopes of safety.

Holding your hand to your throat, you slowly straightened from the wall, trying to catch your breath. “You...you saved me,” you said slowly. “Again...”

The man turned, red eyes watching you. Despite who you knew him to be, you felt...safe. “Like I said, kid. You’ve some shit luck,” he growled. “I suggest carrying some goddamn pepper spray next time.” 

You opened your mouth to reply, but he had started to walk away already. Taking a few steps after him, you’d blurted. “Thank you...thank you.” What else could convey the gratitude you felt for someone who’d saved you so many times in your short life?

Snorting, he looked back.

“Don’t mention it.”

Looking back on it now, you wondered if perhaps...he was your guardian angel. The thought comforted you, so early in the morning as you tried to sleep, hoping someday you’d see him again.

Update

I know I haven’t updated in forever, aside news/memes. I hope you guys don’t mind. I’m working on a few personal projects (2 original games, an RPG and a VN) and doing some spring cleaning of other collection (selling stuff--not FNAF).

I haven’t ordered the Fredbear/Bonnie Hex Plushes yet, but I am going to! Just needed a bit longer to save since delays really messed up my schedule. I’ve got two Aerith figures on preorder (FFVIIR), I have to pay in advance for Tatsuya (Persona 2) because Goodsmile sucks donkey butt and made him exclusive, and there are several games I’m trying to get before their sequels make prices increase... and they’re already expensive.

I played a lot of Final Fantasy X (one of my fav games) and got burned out, so I’ve been playing Legend of Mana Remastered. Another one of my favorite titles. I’ve got some personal family stuff going on (my mother needs surgery and another distant relative passed away) and it was really hectic; not to mention the increasing horrible state of the world.

One reason I haven’t been very active for FNAF, I feel, is that news is so slow. Security Breach just left everyone with questions and I was hoping it was more of a soft reboot than anything... I’m very disheartened on the series. The only continuing discussions I see are fans claiming to have completely, factually solved the bigger mysteries (MM, the Shadows, who was killed first, ect.) and it’s very bland and it feels the fandom has moved from theories to claiming opinions. I just need a break from it all. I still love William and Henry as much as ever, but my inspiration is low. I think I’ve said that before, but...

I will continue to post art (when I get back to them), FNAF news for the film and merchandise relating to the two (if you were wondering why I haven’t shown off, say, the original set of hex plushes or the funko plush or the Youtooz).

I don’t know what else to say except thanks for supporting this blog. I plan to be more active again depending how the Fazbear Frights series goes. I don’t know how much it will relate to the topic at hand, but it is fun to draw parallels even if they are biased ones and I think you guys enjoyed reading them. Just know they are for fun and mostly not meant to be taken seriously. If only June/July would get here! (Also, expect a huge delay on the books... I have to order them so I don’t get them until a week after release... then takes a day to read one... and leaks usually happen a MONTH in advance so I avoid them)

mmmh I have a lot in mind they are all coming from my best friends: prayers candles with Photoshop edits of all my celeb crushes like the cena glued on the candle, got also one with Adam Driver as Mary and me as baby Jesus in his arms, a little pin with a fencing mask that my best friend gave me for one of my birthdays because he always forgot and he really searched on the internet for it which is unusual for him it is really precious to me because it is really specific and one of a kind. An handmade funko pop of my fav rugby players being signed by him. Books-drawings-concert tickets-plushes-trinkets- got a feather from the owl of a my Japanese friend.

Got a superb Hello Kitty boat and hello kitty shampoo box when I was 7 and a little pony and barbie house handmade by my grandpa.

I keep all you give me like a magpie , I collect and I wear it or exhibit the stuffs so it is HARD QUESTION I min all my room is a polly pocket house.

I went on vacation to north myrtle beach and it sucked but I came home to Ghostbusters goodness so I’m happy again. The keep reading part is just me rambling about my vacation because I can.

I finally got my hands on the Matty 12′’ Winston and I was super happy when opening him. He came with his mailer box and was never open! It came with a little advert for the 2009 DS game and on the back was an ad for another DVD release. My Egon and Ray are re-owned so I didn’t know this little piece of paper existed. I will have my hands on the Peter figure one day damnit, one day.

I like silly vintage Ghostbusters stuff so I got the Haunted House Activity book [Sadly of course, no Winston] and the GB2 Poster book from the same seller, I know there’s scans of these online but I don’t care. The Haunted House activity book has writing in the inside and outside cover and one page is completed but the none of the drawings are colored in and all of them are super cursed, I love them all. I will probably scan and print all of them on mixed media paper and color the hell out of them. This is one of the oldest item I have in my Ghostbusters collection since it was released in the movie was. 

The GB2 book is fun and has two of my favorite GB2 images and the picture they used for Harold’s bio is funny, like why is he so smug looking and for what?  I will never actually use the book has a poster because I already have one but it’s a neat item and I love it as well.

I finally got the 2016 6′’ Egon figure, he’s like $50 on Amazon and I was like noooo that’s dumb, so I went on eBay, found an auction that no one else was bidding and only paid $28, for him, yeah the box is beat up but my Ray and Peter’s boxes are beat up as well  so I don’t really mind, It gives them personality. Winston is the last busters I have to get and the set will be finished. 

I got Funko Soda Peter too, he’s neat. I hope they make and released Ray and Winston soon like came on Funko, do it. It would be nice to see the Afterlife team in this style too.

To end of this post raving about GB merch, here’s a picture I took on vacation of my Ray and Egon plush and my Playmobil Egon because I’m an adult but having them made sleeping on the floor easier. No, I’m not joking. 

I watched GB1 on the way going to the resort on my laptop and it was such a vibe, I didn’t watch GB2 because I watched it recently and I watched Afterlife on the way back on home and man I had a blast. Watching DVDs on the road is nostalgic to me personally. 

The place I and my parents was staying is called bluegreenvactions and the room is weird and a little gross. The resort had like a odd feeling to it. I felt like I was the only young adult there, the majority was older adults and I saw some younger kids walking around too. 

The suite room’s bed shook when you get on them like a waterbed. You make one move and the whole bed shakes. It was already small as hell and the mattress is too soft because my bed at home is firm because I have lordosis but damn, I’m not trying to bust my ass so I used the covers from both of the beds and slept on the floor the whole time we was there. I was watching a Arthur marathon to the point I heard the theme song over 50 times and in my dreams.

The station was playing the same commercials over and over on the station, I got tired seeing some exercise with smart cat commercials man. The spare room also has windows going out into the hallway so I had the curtains closed the whole time because that’s creepy and weird as hell so I had no natural light. 

The room’s oven didn’t go pass 10 minutes when you’re trying to bake something so I had to watch the time so I could make sure the food wasn’t undercook or leave it in too long that it gets burnt. My fish and chips came out fine though. 

The spare bathroom had a washer and dryer and the sliding door was super gross, the top track was caked with dirt like it wasn’t clean since the place opened. 

The only positives I will give is, they have a indoor pool, they have an activity center where the employees host games and events [some were free and some you have to pay for me], my parents and I went to their Nascar watch party on Thursday [02/17] because free food is free food and we didn’t want to make dinner because we was checking out Friday. 

I sadly got nothing Ghostbusters related when I was there, only GB thing I saw a big ugly PKE meter that was just plastic at a G00dwill [GW sucks, I hate the prices and another one we sent too was selling a used candle, and a retail GW was selling a broken container. Go to your local thrifts if you have any, don’t go to GW or Salvati0n Army. 

I got some clothes from discount stores but my best find was getting 3 packs of Towbow Alcohol-based markers for $5 each at a Flea market of all places when those markers cost around $20 each. So we paid $15 instead of $60. I don’t care for the Towbow but it was a sweet deal.

The area had some pretty buildings because it’s a beach town, didn’t went inside of any of them but there were nice to look at but there was so many golf courses, mini and regular on both sides on the road like over kill much. One day I wish I was able to go to the House of Blues but it was closed and was going to open until March and there was a Hollywood wax museum but my parents said it cost a lot of money to get inside. 

One funny thing that kept happening was people commenting on my knitted rainbow hat I got from a cloth drive, saying that they like it for three days straight. 

To end my long ass post, if you ever going to north myrtle beach, don’t go to bluegreenvactions. Go to a different resort or just go to resort that is in the actual myrtle beach instead. Hell, you will probably have I better seeing Bill Murray in the wild than I did.

One of those chatty, legitimate blog posts, I guess.

I’ve never had good gross nor fine motor control. I am the picture of clumsiness. It’s frustrating wanting to have done faceups and the like and being wholly unable to meet my own standards.

I’m also getting older and am at an age where my motor control will only get worse over time, and my hands are starting to hurt often.

It’s going to happen.

Recently I’ve done a couple of projects with absolutely no mind to perfection. They were just for fun. 

“They” say quality over quantity, and that’s a very good rule to live by in general but when it comes to having fun, sometimes slopping your way through a lot of small projects and accepting good enough is more fun than focusing on one for a long time and worrying about perfection. Life isn’t long enough to not let go and have fun now and then.

First project has a bit of backstory to it, I guess. I’ve recently decided to curate my collection more tightly because I have way too many dolls. That didn’t necessarily mean I wanted to get rid of them, though, and some I’ve been trying to find ways to make them fit into the new aesthetic (pastels).

LOL OMG Neonlicious obviously didn’t fit but I did like her quite a bit, so I did a very simple change up on her by rerooting her with pastel yarn and going over her existing faceup with new colors. Tracing, basically, and not kicking myself over my poor motor control.

She’s been my most popular custom ever... I can’t claim credit for this design, though, because it is just a palette swap of her default faceup with a few added details in her too-big, too blank eyes.

I also redressed her in Rainbow High clothing and some Boxy Girls shoes.

Her new name is Pastelicious, because I’m not all that creative.

Second project is an old Remco pony inspired by this Totsy unicorn I saw on eBay and some brand new to me Posca paint pens.

I figured I couldn’t do worse. I’d actually rerooted the pony first, then Pastelicious, then couldn’t decide what to do with the pony’s eyes and copied Pastelicious’s. Using Poscas (fine and medium, both of which are too bulky for this type of thing) was a fun experiment. I don’t recommend them for faceups just because it’s a LOT more difficult to see around the pen than a brush.

Again, not kicking myself for the lack of fine motor control and letting myself have fun instead.

And it was! Experimenting with a new product was a lot of fun.

I’ve named her Ranibow Sprimkle.

Third for-fun project also has a good bit of blather to it...

I’ve kind of accidentally started a G1 MLP Cotton Candy collection. I have both G1 flat and concave foot Cotton Candy (concave needs a tail, and flat needs redyed), World’s Smallest Cotton Candy, repro Cotton Candy, and Softies Cotton Candy (the big plush with horrible hair).

And then I stumbled upon MLP Funko POPs and they’re horrible. I hate them.

That empty stare....

I thought it might be fun to try repainting one and see if I could make it less horrible.

I tried giving her G1 Cotton Candy’s eyes which for some reason, on both the purple is swallowed by the black in photos.

I can’t say I’m satisfied with this custom, it certainly shows what happens when 20 years of practice slams up against poor motor control in general.

You can’t see 20 years of trying in that at all.

My hands simply do not do what I ask them to, and I’ve come to accept that they never will. Now if they’d just stop flying off in random directions and punching things when I tell them to reach to a specific place to pick something up... That hurts.

I may revisit it sometime in the future, but it was fun even if she’s still pretty unpleasant to look at.

Forward facing eyes on a horse is disturbing no matter what... Though I do feel like it’s less horrible, now.

I am absolutely fine with answering it but I decided to put this one under a keep reading tag to avoid negativity, haha! ♥ So, the thing is, I don’t hate Ragnarok. I watch the film a lot and I devour the Loki moments like a starved vampire. It’s a good movie and it’s entertaining to watch--but it has its weaknesses. Of course, these are just my personal thoughts and opinions, so here we go:

Decisions were made about Thor that I do not like (I feel like he sort of went back to his old arrogant arsehole-self from the beginning of the first Thor film and the fact he just left Loki behind with the obedience disk on was very out of character. I mean, of course he would try and betray him after Thor tells him that their paths diverged a long time ago and that Loki should indeed stay on Sakaar rather than asking him to return home with him. Loki knew that if he joined Thor nothing at all would change, he would still be treated like a villain with “imagined slights” and Loki would continue to live in Thor’s shadow. He’d rather stay on Sakaar then and make himself comfortable with the bounty he’d get for Thor and at the very same time know his brother safe given he saw with his own eyes what Hela is capable of. So let’s face it: Tom slayed it. Tom saved Loki and made it possible for me to make sense of his character arc and actions (like him having time to heal and appearing more blithe because of his time spent as Odin on Asgard during Thor’s absence) despite what Taika decided to do.

Loki was humiliated and bullied throughout the movie to the point they made him look weak and powerless (and as I have mentioned in a previous question, as someone who has been bullied before, this is absolutely not okay or funny in any way), there were quite a few contradictions (such as Valkyrie calling Loki out for “feeling the sudden urge to do the right thing” when that was literally what she did five minutes ago) and the amount of improvisation created a few plot holes that could have been avoided as well as OOC characters--I personally don’t really recognise Thor and Bruce Banner anymore, even if the latter went a little bananas after being the Hulk for so long. Just compare Bruce Banner in “The Avengers” to Bruce Banner in “Ragnarok”. Completely different people!

The fact that Loki was the “butt of the joke” like Tom put it himself is the only fear I somehow still had for the Loki TV series, I must admit, and I hope that they won’t make him a bad ruler (since in the VOTE LOKI comics, he loses the election), for he truly isn’t, there is enough proof of that. Loki is smart and mischievous and he is always two steps ahead and most of all, he is one of the most powerful characters in the MCU. ♥

Ohhh yes. Where do I even start? I consider myself extremely lucky that I am in the financial position of being able to purchase Loki fan merch that makes me happy every now and then and by telling you about all the Loki things that I own, I do not want to make anyone feel bad about themselves or let alone brag. The stuff I own I started collecting in 2017 so it has been a few years and a lot of things were gifts too, please keep that in mind. I might actually make a TikTok about all the Loki things that I own at some point because let me tell you, it’s a lot.

I have a Loki mug, Loki slippers, Loki socks, Loki pyjamas, a few Loki t-shirts, two Loki dresses, two Loki jackets, two Loki pullovers, a Loki bag, a Loki pen, a Loki wallet, a handful of Funko Pops and Loki figurines as well as my homemade Tesseract, Loki’s sceptre that my dad made for me and a homemade mouse pad, several books, three Loki plush toys, two Loki pillows and Loki jewellery (including rings and necklaces, a Loki head piece, and the “Loki for president” badge that I designed myself). *gasps for air* The next item on my list is an actual costume. ♥

Hello! I recently did a data visualization of ships fics on ao3, and, because I had an excel file of figures, an user encouraged me to post that as well!

Here I just want to compare the figures (funko, scale, prize, nendoroids, toys etc.) released for BNHA, compare it with other manga/anime and then check who are the popular characters.

My hero academia has 562 figures registered on MyFigurecollection. I will only use data from that website, and bear with me, I hope I don't miss any doubles! I will only consider figures as they are better tracked than other goods (plush, badges etc.). Count that I am not distinguishing between the scale figures (that can be pretty expensive, like ARTFJ or Revoltech - which I just bought btw, bye money) and more affordable figures (ex. the Banpresto line Age of Heroes).

Also, be mindful that all the data is about figures produced, not sold. Still, I would imagine that the more the demand (especially for certain characters), the more the production.

BNHA vs OTHERS

Comparing it with the most popular manga (calculated in sold tankobon over 100 million copies: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_manga) we have

As you can see One Piece is immensely popular in figures production too. BNHA, even if is not one of the most sold manga is here in the 6th place.

I then decided to see what is the rate of release for these figures. As this is just for fun I decided to do it pretty roughly by dividing the years the manga has been out for the amount of figures, basically calculating a "number of figures per year" value. Keep in mind that this has limitations regarding the possibility that recent years figures production could have increased and become cheaper.

I was definitely surprised to see that not only One Piece is still first, but one of the most recent manga is actually second in figures per year (Demon Slayer). BNHA is at the fourth place.

Now, I realize that most popular manga is not always easily translated in most popular figures, but sadly I could not find a way to search for most popular franchises on MyFigurecollection. Still, none of the previously named manga is in the top 100 figures of the website (I really underestimated the popularity of Fate and Hatsune Miku).

Now, let's look at the BNHA figures!

(Be mindful that this count will count overlapping figures as well. Ex. if there is a statue of Bakugou and Deku, the count will count 1 for Bakugou and 1 for Deku. For this reason, if you count the total of all the characters you have 580 figures instead of the real number: 562)

CHARACTERS

As expected there are some very popular characters, and then some characters that only have a few figures. Finally, there's 18 characters that only have 1 figure.

Many of those "1 figures" are funko pops or Boku no Hero Academia World Collectable Figures, which are mini figures. Often, characters with 2 figures end up having both.

Let's look at Class 1 A.

Checking the total numbers of figures for characters in Class 1 A: none of this is unexpected. Izuku, Bakugou and Uraraka are the top 4 characters, with more or less 20 figures of difference between each of them. Still in the realm of popularity we have Tsuyu, Iida and Kirishima, while other characters ends up with less than 6 figures each, or zero.

Here's some percentages to visualize it better. Bakugou and Izuku together are almost 50% of all the BNHA figures.

For Pro-Heroes

For Pro Heroes only, All Might is the clear popularity winner, with more than 50% of the figures of Pro heroes characters. No other Pro Hero comes even close. But surprisingly, Hawks had an amount of figures comparable with Aizawa.

For Villains

Shigaraki and Toga almost have the same amount of figures (26.23% Shigaraki, with 16 figures, and 24.59% Toga, with 15 figures).

Others

We also have a bunch of other students, each with 1 or 2 figures each (Kendo, Monoma, TestsuTetsu, Camie, Inasa, Seiji, Hatsume Mei, Nejire). These are mainly Funko or those mini mentioned previously.

Eri (3), Tamaki (2), Mirio (7) have instead scale/prize figures.

Looking at all the characters together, I decided to not clutter the pic too much, so I took only those characters that have 4 or more than 4 figures:

And here you go! Deku, Bakugou and All Might are the top 3 released as figures characters.

Surprisingly, all villains are less popular than Tsuyu Auis, who has 22 figures.

Hmm I used to collect funko pop's but I only collected the ones I liked and now I have them. I guess I don't collect much, sometimes shells from beaches and stuff.

There's a specific frog audio that my mom played for me when I was very young that helped me sleep, it's turned into a comfort sound for me now. Lavender or the perfume my mom uses is also comforting.

Mhm! I bake super good brownies and my favorite thing to cook is either meat rice balls or omelets.

Oh I have MANY. I keep a green rupee chain on my key, I have a Legend snack keychain, a Four Sword, Minish Cap Link, and Vaati on my backpack. Purse has Midna and Wild as well as Toon Zelda.

I can swim, not gracefully, but I certainly won't drown. I do like to swim!

HELL YEAH I DID! Ninjago my beloved! My favorite set I owned is probably, well it ties between, The Monastery and the Destiny's Bounty, and my original first season sets are Cole's Earth Drill from Season 2 and my Ratla Bike from Season 1!

At one house absolutely not. At the other I have my dresser in one half, shirts hung on other, folded sheets on the closet floor + a bin for old stuffed animals.

Whenever Virgil "sounds the alarm" he (and maybe patton and remus) will go "weoo" for a few minutes as loud as he can

Janus is obsessed with Hocus Pocus (despite Logan pointing out all the inconsistencies)

In clbg when patton said yes to thomas when he asked if there are anymore sides that were hidden away from him, he glanced at virgil (and logan) and virgil got super uncomfortable

Everytime Logan has an idea, he'll say lightbulb out loud...like...just..."lightbulb" and the other sides just stare at him like.."wha-???" until he explains
