041. a train on its way to its destination, a sleeping passenger resting on a shoulder . - jules :))

it's the only remaining line that works ; a year after the flood and gotham is still recovering. the two of them planning to get on at the same stop , never revealing that they are anything more or less. to the outside eye it's kismet , but to bruce wayne it's so much more. he had kept his eye on her , the cars emptying as they crept further and further away from the cities prying eyes , eyes trained upon bruce wayne as they studied his movements , and unsure if it WAS indeed truly him ... was it ?

the lights illuminate as shadows overtake and the train bumps along rusty tracks. lights flicker and bruce looks upwards before his eyes rest upon the back of juliette , she looks so small in such a scene ---- he counting down the stops until he can sit next to her ... lips silently saying the names of each stop until they are the only ones left.

it's past ten pm now , and he goes to walk to her side until his voice breaks the sounds of a train that unbeknownst to it is their soundtrack. ❛ can i sit ? ❜ his words soft and comforting in their address. he looks around them one more time , ❛ it's just us ❜ anticipating her question before it ever falls from her lips. going to then slide into seat as their frames relax , and they share a smile that only the two of them know. a smile that had been perfected throughout the years. her lips conveying the same fondness that blossomed in ribcage.

❛ ... you wouldn't believe how many stops i counted down 'till .... ❜ bruce softly quips as they then leave the city and go out towards an island that lays just beyond the city. from here one could catch a ferry to a island that very much resembled the hamptons. though as he looks down at a head that has found comfortable residence upon arm he sees that she's out , sleep upon her features as eyes [ that have been permanently rimmed red since the slaughter of her family ; indeed it was a risk appearing in the public eye ] appear somewhat calm. bruce then shifts , allows for more room as he sighs in what only one can call content. / @down1979

my new thing whenever an embarrassing memory jumps up out of some backwater neuron to t-bone my present-day thought process is to declare a statute of limitations. like i can burn down an entire building in the state where i live and the law deems it both unfair and illegal to prosecute me after six years have passed, i think that thing i said in high school can be expunged from my record.
