i know it's been years since the bnha drama you had to go through in 2020, but i wanted to say that i've thought about really it for years and years and i was on your side for when it happened. i still remain on your side, and i hope you were given proper apologies from yk who and their defenders. you most likely never want to think about it again, but i hope you know that what you did mattered. i think about it really from time to time remembering how the internet was so eager to go against a bunch of teens and how cruel it was really at the time. i know you endured a lot of hate for it, and i hope you're doing better now!

I’m not disputing that that happened, I am saying that that is not where the term “started”. It started in 2012, inspired by the actuallyautistic tag, as a method to avoid spam in the main tag. At that point it had no exclusionary connotation. Using actually- tags was a trend on tumblr in the early-mid 2010s so that members of marginalized communities could make sure their voices were heard. This use went out of fashion after that era of spam dried up, so it’s understandable that you wouldn’t know about it, and that you would overestimate your knowledge of history and make such a confident but incorrect statement as you did about the term’s true origin.

I know that emotionally it can be really difficult to deal with a message online correcting a statement you’ve made. It can feel like I’m telling you you’re wrong and you should feel bad for it, so I want to make it clear that this is not anon hate, just somebody who cares about aspec community memory. Nobody is right all the time! I’ve been confidently incorrect plenty of times in my life so I understand how the embarrassment can feel like a slap in the face. That’s ok, and those feelings aren’t always an indication that you’re being put down or judged. It’s necessary that we as people can hold discussions where we’re trying to figure out what’s correct collaboratively and not argumentatively, and that means recognizing when the people you’re speaking with are well-intentioned and responding in kind.

Anyway, yeah, I remember being younger and I remember how mortified I would have felt to read the message I sent, so no judgement at all. The good thing is that as life goes on you get more experience, more desensitization to those extreme feelings, more contextual knowledge to recognize that it’s ok, etc etc.

Yeah I know actually. I've been here since around 2016/17 and I do deep dives into tumblr and older posts a lot in my free time. I'm not new here actually and to give a rough est. of my age, I was never under the age of 13 on the site. just crack+ fluff + platonic-ish relationship (gn!y/n) (w: language!) a/n: this has been bugging me for awhile now since i havent seen headcanons of this yet (if their are do send them on my ask box) and since im on a slump, i decided to write this down. this is completely fun, easy-going, and self-indulgent, really perfect for someone stuck on a slump ksks. idk if i should make some for the other schools but oh welp enjoy! happy 900 btw werkwerk uwu so weird to reach this when im not even very active.

Now let’s be honest here, it’s no surprise that the volleyball team of aoba johsai has their own sports journalist. Like, c’mon, they’re one of the best in the prefecture.

But let’s start with the basics here, shall we? Let’s start with you, how this all goes through, and how you got into this heaping pile of mess.

Yep, you.

There you were in high hopes to get into journalism for college so what better way was it than to apply for the school paper? It would definitely look good and pretty in those college applications *chef’s kiss* you’re a second year btw idk if that matters but yeah..

Much to your surprise no one was applying for the news section which was kind of sad since you wanted a buddy there.

but-but it turns out though everyone was applying for the sports section completely understandable, next to feature, it was the most exciting thing to write because there was going to be a special section and writer for the volleyball team.

You knew that volleyball was kind of a big thing around your school?? you just didn’t expect it to amass like that much people.

The editor in chief is obviously surprised, you were the first person on that day to come in there and actually apply for something else.

and guess where that led you to?

Yep, the sport’s section, specifically the volleyball team’s personal sports journalist. Your brain goes brrt brrt because you were not a sports writer at all and you were, ironically, scared of ball games.

VOLLEYBALL WAS COMPLETELY NEW TERRITORY FOR YOU.

Your editor in chief laughs it off and says, “you’ll do fine… its like news bUT SPORTS! IT’LL DEFINITELY LOOK GOOD IN YOUR APPLICATIONS!”

You’re not sure if you should be terrified or terrified?

It doesn’t help that on the first day when you enter the gym you look terribly constipated and panicking a lot because of all the stray balls being spiked and tossed around.

It also didn’t help that you crash course the terminologies and the member’s name a night before and you were just running on iced coffee that day.

Yeah, way to make a first impression, huh?

When you approach the coach, you’re not exactly sure what to say and you were this close to chickening out until you saw one of the players come up to you and ask if you were alright and if you wanted to talk to oikawa.

and the poor guy who asks you if you were alright, starts looking actually worried because you weren’t responding at all.

“OH, oH IS THAT THE CAPTAIN?”

the guy literally looks very confused?? because what kind of rock were you living under that you didn’t know Oikawa???

so you go ahead and introduce yourself and say that your name was Y/N and you were the new sports journalist for the team.

at this point on, you’re also confused too

and idk man, first impressions do indeed last because you ended up (unknowingly) sharing the same brain cell with Matsukawa Issei.

you both were just confused there, straight up looking like two kids who got left behind by their mom in the grocery check-out line.

anyways...

He tells you the team’s pretty chill and you should stop looking like they spiked a ball on your puppy or something.

Basically introduces you to the whole team after, 

no questions asked, just go with the flow.

You basically just click and vibe???

Not only because you crash coursed and related to whatever they said, 

you literally all shared the same brain cell together.

Kentaro was another story though, kid basically hated your guts at first, it felt like if you were to say one sentence to him that day, he’d literally spike a ball at your direction.

you gradually start to understand the coolness of the sport since you had to incorporate visiting them once or twice a week during practice.

but suddenly it becomes almost a daily routine after a month because they’re just really friendly people??

like wow, they’re all friendly giants.

You’re literally just there to write about them but they’re really patient and kind, they even invite you to practice games so that you could practice out your skills in writing since you mentioned that you’ve never written for sports yet.

they even give you some added key terms that aren’t found in books and online.

you’re def closest to iwaizumi and matsukawa.

iwaizumi because he makes really funny fish jokes about oikawa (yes you arent supposed to be laughing but man theyre funny af, oikawa would usually call you and iwa corny because the jokes aren’t even that funny) and yes its canon that whenever iwaizumi sees an oikawa fish in textbooks, he starts laughing and joking about it.

no explanation needed why you ended up being close to matsukawa.

its obvious after that first meeting ya both would be besties.

its ya girl , brianna bora bang !! aka bree !! daughter of hephaestus and one of the smiths who works in the forge .

growing up, bree’s childhood was relatively calm and uneventful. she was raised by her single-mother, who worked as a mechanic and though they didn’t have much , her mom still managed to get by , supporting them both the best she could. :’))

tbh, bree didn’t think a lot about her family’s financial situation when she was little. though, with that said,  she was a bit of a pain. 

not because she asked for, or constantly wanted material things, but rather, from a young age she had a knack for taking stuff apart and trying to put them back together again. fascinated by figuring out how certain devices worked. 

that habit eventually turned into bree taking things around the house, and makings ‘ improvements’ or crafting something completely new with the different parts she’d collected from items lying about.

 her mother living pay check to paycheck , was certainly in awe of brianna’s talents, but the young girl’s creative outlet definitely caused  some strESS !!

as one can imagine, she got in a lot of trouble as a kid. having a bit of a mischievous streak coupled along with her curious and imaginative tendencies. her mom wasn’t too happy when she came home to find the vacuum deconstructed , with brianna claiming there was a certain component she needed for the jet pack she was planning on creating

throughout her life, bree was always gathering attention, whether is was due to her odd personality, or the things she was creating. however she was especially attracting people’s attention when it came to the science fairs she enjoyed participating in while she’d been in elementary and middle school --- bringing something completely unexpected to ANNIHILATE ( as she would say )  the competition. 

but, brianna created so much buzz, it wasn’t uncommon for her to end up in local news papers as a young ‘genuis’. 

one time, even recruits from MIT came to check out to see what all the talk had been about. 

 when expressing their interest in her, her mother politely declined their offers. thinking bree may have been too young to consider making decisions like that at the time.

 [ yet, because of the news circulating bree, nl had been another group to approach her mom, along with hephaestus in hopes to provide brianna a safe haven from the potential threat of monsters (etc.), though her mother also refused that offer at the time ]

SO basically, bree just vibed through her early years creating a bit of mischief and making cool stuff with her handy dandy tool box ( or more like her mom’s tool box lmfao) 

she went about every day life as a regular kid, completely unaware of her relation to hephaestus until she neared the age of sixteen.

as she got a bit older, her mother fell in love with a pretty well-off guy who worked as an developmental engineer for the united states milt.. they got married and brianna then had a new step father in her life. despite him being much more strict with her. more than what her mom had ever been , they all got along pretty well. more than anything , bree was jus happy for her mom. 

and, it was a plus that they weren’t struggling as much as they originally had been thanks to his financial help.

however, due to an unfortunate turn of events , and a christmas tree having caught fire; their house burnt down. her mom and her stepfather were rescued by the fire department. unfortunately the same couldn’t be said for bree. watching the house engulfed in flames, they worried frantically about their daughter who’d still been trapped inside. but when bree had escaped through the fire by herself , uninjured and not suffering any burns whats so ever. her step-father , along with the fire fighters that had come to help , were hELLA FREAKED OUT. 

her step-dad was straight up like, i don’t fuk w demons.

and it was after the incident that her mother finally revealed the truth to bree about her biological father, and eventually gave her the option of going to nemean lion. which was information brianna’s mom had for quite some time, but had chosen to keep it to herself , simply cause she wasn’t 100% comfortable with bree leaving her so young.  

THANK GOODNESS THEY NEVER EXPERIENCED A MONSTER ATTACK.

though with what had happened, and her step father’s reaction, bree and her mother came to the agreement that it was probably best if she left for nl. 

she eventually moved in after a couple months of trying to make things work at home ( a compromise she made with her mom ). it didn’t work out sadly, and as soon as she turned sixteen, brianna became an official resident at the hotel.  having stayed at nemean until now !!

when she first got to nl she pretty much just embraced the change. throwing herself into training and what not, trying to figure out where her place was , all that teenage stuff. ‘tryina find urself uwu’ . 

AND she did go on missions quite a bit before the change happened !! having enjoyed tagging along to make some extra money, but her obvious calling was always at the forge. 

brianna now and before, has always had a reputation for walking around nl trying to convince people to give her latest weapons or gadgets a go !!

before the change happened at nl, bree was sorta all over the place. (  A MESS !! )  but her goals have become more focused thanks to entering the technology track. so once again, she embraced change with open arms. 

she’s totally digging the improvement that nemean lion has made.

after graduating from her track relatively fast; working on stuff  is what she mainly does nowadays. 

she’s most often found at the forge. cause when she gets an idea, she’s gotta get it done. she has no chill.

yeah, brianna is smart. but on the highkey, she’s only really knowledgeable in her field of expertise. 

SO, SHE DOES HAVE THAT CHAOTIC STUPID ENERGY COURSING THROUGH HER VEINS. if you ask her to do something dumb, she more then likely is gonna be down / say yes. skdjlfsjd

though bree isn’t necessarily materialistic, she is kinda obsessed with money, and making money. $$$$🤑🤑 part of it has to do with not having  had much growing up, and she wants that security YA KNO. but also , she doesn’t feel totally comfortable asking her mom/step-dad for money. so she out here making her own!!

 money is a big motivator for her.

overall, brianna is a brash, outgoing, oddball who is incredibly determined and hardworking. 

cause she’s always tryina get that promo, she can come off a bit opportunistic, selfish, and conceited when it comes to her inventions. typically she means well, she’s just a bit on the crazy side. 

 she has those mad scientist vibes.

honestly, leo’s life before nl was pretty boring.

 he grew up in a super small town and was raised by his grandparents after his dad pretty much bailed .

leo was an incredibly bright kid. he learned to read as well as write at a crazy young age, but because he was brought up by his grandparents his taste pretty much reflected his upbringing.  he likes super old music, movies. etc. and he’ prefers considerably less exciting pass times such as  reading books or playing games like chess. he always goes for a walk super early in the morning too which is something he picked up from his grandpa.

leo’s grandparents took care him when he was very little, but as leo grew older he found himself returning the favor and  instead helping his grandparents as they themselves aged over the years.

no one in his household was aware of leo’s ties to his biological mother athena. mainly cause his father never explained anything before he left the family to be on their own. 

leo’s life dramatically changed after he experienced a monster attack when he’d been fifteen years old. 

basically some demigods from nemean lion saved the day and thankfully nothing terrible happened. but leo’s identity as a demigod was finally exposed  to himself and to his family.

 he had a really hard time saying goodbye, as he worried how his grandma and grandpa were gonna do without him. however, he feared putting them in danger above all else. 

he was then taken to nl, where he spent his time up until now.

after he was rescued, leo couldn’t help but look up to the others who regularly went on missions and hunted monsters. naturally, he worked hard with the aspiration to be like them. 

 a lot of that also had to do with why he picked the hero track when the change had come about at nl.

if it wasn’t for moving, leo would have never realized his supernatural abilities. and it was through persistence and intense training that he was able to develop his powers over time, as well as pretty fast.

he has always been incredibly dedicated and disciplined. 

tbh he kinda has those old man vibes, even when he first arrived at fifteen.

 he takes missions and everything a little too seriously. 

he doesn’t really know how to have fun either. so when he is on hero duty, he is super STUBBORN about doing everything by the book. trying not to get too crazy and always wanting to make sure extra precaution is taken. 

he’s not about them risk. he really wants to ensure that there’s little to no damage that will be done if he can help it.

comes off grumpy most of the time, but it’s like 95% bc he kinda just sucks when it comes to people.

 social interaction is not his thing which is why he could have NEVER gone into the ambassador track lmfao.

though he’s diligent, responsible and honest, he can also be EXTREMELY gullible, too straightforward, and at times, come off  as nagging or bossy.

overall, he just wants justice, and to ensure things are done right. but he’s not the best communicator, so instead of being diplomatic about it, a lot of the time he’s just like, ‘i’m right, you’re wrong’dkjsldjf

The actress turned pop star faced world wide critism for following a different path, under the public eyes of scrutiny, the pressure was immense to be picture perfect. She survived international infamy from her days as a washed up reality teen sensation from a show she should have never signed up for. Her eyes find her lover, no, she would never regret meeting her muse.

Breaking News! Judge Courtney is ending after only being on air for three years! The lawyer turned television sensation is looking to make yet another career change, this time into the music industry. Rumor has it there’s been drama on the set, ever since Courtney reunited with her bad boy first love, her relationship with the producers have been rocky. His criminal past and their toxic relationship back when they were teens were dug up by some fans on Twitter, leading to the hashtag #CancelCourtneysCourt to trend. The sweet scent of flowers drift by, carried by the small gust of wind. Though summer was ending, the red roses were still in bloom. They would welt as the season shifts to autumn, but for now they stood tall for the world to enjoy their beauty. Overview

An assumed orphan raised within the Galra Empire as one of Haggar's Druids, Osera has lived a life in obscurity behind a mask and robes knowing nothing about her true parentage and past and nothing beyond glory for the Galra Empire.

Personality

Positives/Virtues/Skills: Loyal, soft spoken, hard to anger, driven to serve the Empire, solitary and finds no issue with isolation, studious,inquisitive

Flaws/Weaknesses: Black and white morality, neuroticism and easily overwhelmed by outside stimuli, indecisive without an authority figure

Fears: The current state of the Galra Empire and what is to become of it. Osera doesn't know who to trust or what faction to turn to as being a Druid puts her in the cross-hairs of many. A general unease in the wilderness as Osera has next to no survival skills planet side as she’s never needed them. Osera has never been in a body of water larger than a tub, thus even the concept of an ocean scares her. She doesn’t exactly know how to.

History

Childhood/Family Life: Osera has only memories of foster parents within the Galra Empire, raising her for a brief time before she was transferred off for training as a Druid due to her magic potential.

Education: Osera has been training under the Galra Empire as a Druid to serve under Zarcon for almost as long as she can remember along with typical education for a Galran youth. Life to Osera has been a constant drive for self improvement to serve the Galra Empire better. Being a reserved child that carried over to her teenage years, Osera has kept her head down with little to speak of as far as incidents of note go. Her late teen years saw a ramping up in more combat oriented training typical for Galra soldiers, but it was a place Osera faltered as she leans heavily on her Druid abilities. Still, such training did eventually gain her a promotion from a stint on a Space Hub converting quintessence to one serving on Lord Zarkon’s ship itself.

Combat Prowess

Weapon of Choice: Osera has some training with a simple dagger, but nothing to really speak of as it seems to be more a ceremonial accessory as oppose to a true weapon.

Physical/Magical Strengths: Her true strength is with her Druid abilities with not much to speak of with general hand to hand combat beyond that of an average person.

Physical/Magical Weaknesses: Osera isn't exactly the physically strongest creature about, nor is she well versed in true physical combat. Constant use of her magic abilities drains Osera unless she has a quintessence source at hand.

Verses & AUs

Season Specific Verses: These tags are specific for plots either happening during the actions of that particular season or right after with the intent of staying in line with canon. For the majority of the seasons, Osera is living on Lord Zarkon's flag ship in service to Haggar. She keeps up with Druidic studies along with interrogating prisoners and aiding in quintessence conversion. Once Zarkon passes, Osera follows tradition and serves under the one who won the Kral-Zera. Once Lotor goes missing, her fate is up in the air at the start of S7.

No Sanctuary - Fugitive Verse:  At the death of Lord Zarkon by his own son, the Galra Empire is in upheval with a Kral Zera on the horizon to determine the new leader of the Galra. During this time, Haggar's Druids are left to their own devices but since the collective was never truly a part of the Empire and all are considered the Witches' minions? They are slaughtered wholesale as creatures never to be trusted.Osera manages to escape during this chaos and finds herself adrift in a galaxy she knows little about. She's left any Druid guise far behind and seeks to blend in as nothing of interest to anyone, hoping to avoid the Galra's faction scuffle.

His Faithful Follower - Lotor’s Empire Verse : Once Price Lotor wins the Kral-Zera and cements his claim as the rightful ruler of the Galra Empire. A new era begins where Lotor wishes to usher in peace for the entire universe with the help of Voltron and its Paladins. Sendak may be trying to sow mutiny and win Galra to his side, but with Lotor Osera has found a safe haven as a half-breed. She is uncertain of what the future will bring, but believes in Lotor's plan to unite the universe.

A Sharpened Blade - Blade of Marmora Verse : Lord Zarkon's death at the hands of his own son was enough to shake Osera out of her complacent life as a Druid. She no longer can blindly follow orders at the bidding of Haggar and finds no welcoming place within the evolving Empire for a Druid such as herself. The unrest that followed Lord Zarkon's death revealed the true state of the universe and Osera can no longer sit idly by while everything breaks apart. She first ventured out on her own before gaining a lead to the Blades of Marmora and after proving herself, she's taking up training as one.

A Softer Purple - No War AU : The tragedy of Honerva's poisoning and resulting death never comes to pass. The brilliant Altean alchemist harnesses and contains the ever growing space rift on the Galra's home planet, along with taming quintessence. Voltron continues to be a force for good within the universe, spreading the Altean message of good faith far and wide as various species venture further in space.The Garrison is now a place where students from many planets of origin study and brush up on space travel. Osera is a student enlisted there, having grown up on Earth all her life with her parents.

Courtly Vices - Royalty AU : Set in a fantasy realm, the Galra Empire, Druid Collective, and Voltron Paladins are their own respective factions trying to mediate peace. Formerly, the Druid Collective was a close ally with the Galra Empire but the antics of Prince Lotor has brought unrest between the factions. To obtain a better foothold and stabilize their power, the Druid Collective has bartered one of their own Druids off as a bride to the Yellow Paladin. Osera finds herself wed to a stranger and none too happy about it.

Ok let’s recap on the flaws with Facebook. 1-nudes There has been many complaints in the past where women have had conversations with a man they only just fucking met, next thing they know their inboxes or pms have been inundated with pics of the phallic symbol! No decent self respecting lady wants to see it, put it away or chop it off! 2-bullying Let’s be honest, we all have our share of enemies right? But you just wanna go online and chat. Unfortunately despite your privacy settings, the only option you have is the ignore messages features, but should you one day check your other message box to see if let’s say, a long lost family member who is not on your buddy list tries to contact you they can only get through on that other inbox, they don’t have a phone number or email address for you yet so what do they do? So you go check to see if they get in touch and bang, before you know it, your enemies have found you and your pms are full of hate-FUCKING FAIL. 3-Facebook is possibly the most controlling and manipulative of social media ever to hit this planet! Some people just want to make new friends, even with strangers, After all that’s how you make friends in the first place, The olive branch is delivered, the recipient decides to accept, and from there can determine a whole new social relationship, be it common ground, interests or hobbies right? On the other hand not everybody was to be social with strangers and may feel uncomfortable with that hand of friendship so they just may decline politely and walk away! Now Facebook is like that, But they got Add or Block. Now You will get some that will accept others might block you, But sometimes the Facebook algorithm will not even let you add people you have known for years, it will often issue warnings and if you try to make too many new friends it will restrict your account by what we often call Facebook jail, which is an algorithm put in place to limit people’s activity on this site, so really it’s the kind of social network that won’t let you be social. And who wants to be told who they can and can’t have as friends? Not something a British person wants to be told by an American is it? There is also a freedom of speech issue on here. Nobody wants to be trolled or told what to do by politically correct morons. But because of strict features in place on this site you can’t have an opinion, I have noticed incidents where someone has posted a perfectly innocent comment or photo on here, And some spiteful troll has reported it! Thing is Facebook is all automated, it doesn’t have moderators doing a Santa clause watching for who is naughty or nice, it has a bunch of codes and algorithms that tell it that. Or does it? People have been reported for posting something perfectly harmless as a pet pic or something else innocent, but along comes some spiteful bastard and it gets taken down for violating community standards! But you will get some dolly bird with a selfie showing a bit too much, and you try to report it, Facebook comes back with, it doesn’t go against our community standards, How fucked up is that? Now the upsides to Facebook jail is if you get a bully or someone doing something inappropriate on there they are sent to Facebook jail! Only problem is they are let out later to re-offend! 4-Inbox or Pm I have to give Facebook it’s due, It does completely filter out porn or nudity on the timeline,you try to post anything sexual on your main wall, be sure it will be taken down. But what about the personal messages? Five gets you ten that some of you or most of you on

here have had some kind of outside harrasment in PM! You have had porn bots, nudes,threats or other kinds of unpleasant stuff, you try to report it but before you get a chance to screen shot it as evidence, your cyber assailant has removed the message via this new fucking un-send button! Now un-send is quite handy if 1-you sent a pm to wrong person 2-you had a typing error Or 3-you sent a file or msg in error. But let me tell you the problem with it. As stated if you have had for example some perve showing off his dick, before you can get a chance to screenshot and report it he romved it, so really the un-send button is not very helpful! 5-privacy Facebook has had repeated issues regarding human rights and privacy. There’s been numerous reports where your data and accounts are leaked to third parties, this is unacceptable. 6-bots These are bloody pests that spam your inbox linking you to paid porn sites, scams or malicious content and malware and all because Facebook leaked your private data! Media Facebook never seems to pay much attention if you post your favourite music via YouTube. But what if you want to share a favourite song on your timeline in the form of an MP3? And why not? It worked for MySpace users! But try to do it on Facebook and they come down on you like a ton of bricks regarding copyright warnings! Now what puzzles me is years ago when Facebook was less than its greater size, they used to have a feature called sound bytes, you could upload an mp3 on Facebook, but then they took it off, they also took away good stuff like when they used to have an active chatroom app, bit strips and a few other kool apps they decided to fuck right off! And after all if you are just posting an mp3 of a song you like on your wall, and you don’t plan to make profit from it, then wtf is all this copyright bullshit anyway? 7-safety I personally don’t feel that Facebook is completely safe for anybody to be honest. It doesn’t have appropriate safeguards. Trolls will attack you sometimes on group pages just for having an opinion, and admins to not always take much notice, and if you get an admin that is in agreement with the trolls you are screwed! In the past Facebook has been a haven for Islamic groups to radicalise others on here to join terrorist networks and still is today! Facebook has been subject to crime related posts before now! 8-video calling Now this feature always bothered me. Ok you can go live on your timeline where your friends can see, but did you know other people can see you even if you don’t have your settings on public? This is because of privacy leakage and cyber criminals know your every move! Video in inbox is even worse, It’s a haven for perverts to put on a show and again is monitored by cyber criminals! This is why Skype and zoom are probably your best bet when video calling, sometimes WhatsApp and TikTok are not completely safe! 9 Lack of features I noticed that Facebook is kind of drying up when it comes to games and apps,also at the time it had an active chatroom, only thing is it was driven by flash player which generally now is obsolete! 10-ads All wel and good I suppose if you want to advertise a business to hundreds of people on Facebook yet it very seldom regards this as spam, or you will get the odd troll complaining that it is, yet if you try to post your service in multiple groups, Facebook will attribute this to spam and restrict you. This is because Facebook monetises itself with ads from all kinds of sources in and out of itself! So you dare not try to promote outside their promote ads feature-FAIL! So do you still love Facebook now? But consider this! Before you go slating something by someone, ignoring it or scrolling past it because your ego is to high and you think you are too good to sit up and take notice, I want you to bear something in mind! Now regardless of my 10 thoughts on the negative side of Facebook I can’t tell others not to go on it or twist their fucking arms up there backs to go elsewhere, But theres always this thing where you give something a

chance or a trial, and you never know you might actually like it, but if you don’t then at least you took it into account! There’s a lot of ignorance out there from people that slam something or dismiss it just because it’s something not well known, but if I recall right Mark Zuckerberg had not bargained on Facebook becoming the social giant it is now, he essentially developed it just as a network to go on the pull or for hookups! Would never tell you your limits unless you did something inappropriate. Would never allow porn anywhere.   Anna and the Apocalypse is a horror-comedy-holiday-musical movie about a zombie outbreak during the most wonderful time of year (at least as far as marketing is concerned). From IMDb:

A zombie apocalypse threatens the sleepy town of Little Haven – at Christmas – forcing Anna and her friends to fight, slash and sing their way to survival, facing the undead in a desperate race to reach their loved ones. I don’t know about you, but I love Christmas horror movies. From Gremlins to Krampus to Christmas Evil to Silent Night, Deadly Night, -it’s nice to have something to follow-up your yearly watching of the TV movie, The Christmas Shoes starring Rob Lowe, based on the worst Christmas song ever written, which in turn was based on an email forward that may very well be the reason your aunt from out-of-town got marked as spam. I’m also into musicals, and I’ll never get tired of zombie comedies, so I’m very stoked for Anna and the Apocalypse!

And while we’re talking about Christmas horror musicals, let’s talk about the Nightmare Before Christmas. At least once a year I get into an argument, though rarely a fist fight, about where Nightmare Before Christmas falls in the horror fan watch calendar. It obviously has Christmas in the title, so, duh, but there’s a common differing opinion that places Nightmare in October. “But Mac,” they always say, “there’s a song called This Is Halloween,” and sit back smugly. Counterpoint: that’s like saying that the Wizard of Oz is about Kansas since that’s where it starts. The journey of the movie is all about Christmas, so it’s a Christmas movie. That said, I’ll gladly add it to the American Thanksgiving watchlist because 1) there aren’t very many Thanksgiving movies and 2) Thanksgiving blows anyway, so pleeeeease give me a reason to watch movies instead.

Neil O’Brien MP Has Plans for More Landlord Taxes and Mortgage Hikes

David Lawrenson of LettingFocus is astounded that the government may want to inflict yet more taxes and higher mortgages rates on landlords. Neil O’ Brien MP HAS Plans for More Landlord Taxes and Higher Mortgages If you have been reading about how the Queen, Lewis Hamilton and Apple Corporation among many others use offshore tax havens to avoid paying tax, you’ll be quite fed up with how you have to pay  any tax at all, as these other folks don’t seem to be troubled by HMRC, safely in their tax havens. And you’d have thought that the Conservative government had tortured ordinary landlords enough with a slew of increased taxes in the last three years, but alas and incredibly, it seems they have not. We have seen three big and separate changes that have decimated landlords’ earnings. In case you have been asleep for the last couple of  years these were: The move to charge us tax on our net income instead of profits. No longer can we deduct the interest cost of loans against our rental income, in future we will just get a tax credit equal to the basic rate of tax. This had the effect of bumping hundreds of thousands of landlords who were previously basic rate income tax payers into the higher rate of tax – a huge rise in their tax bills. The main get-out option is to convert your investments into a company structure, but this comes with huge capital gains tax and stamp duty consequences for existing owners, thus rendering it a non-option for many current landlords.   A special premium stamp duty tax rate of an additional 3 per cent on property purchases for buy to let (second properties) on top of the ordinary rate.   A special capital gains tax rate. The standard rate of CGT is 10 per cent for basic rate income taxpayers while for higher rate and top rate income taxpayers it is 18 per cent. Landlords, however, pay a much higher 18 per cent if they are basic income rate taxpayers or 28 per cent if they are higher or top rate income taxpayers. Buy to Let Landlords Are Getting Out The early scraps of evidence from the last 12 months is that all these taxes have hugely reversed the level of investment in buy to let. Partly this is the function of the tax hikes and partly the tougher lending environment. But also, Brexit is doing damage too leading to the flow of migrants from the EU to the UK to go into reverse. They can now earn more if they go back home where the Polish and other central and eastern European economies are in a much stronger state than the UK, with its falling currency and uncertain future outside the EU. The rush to beat the stamp duty tax deadline introductions initially led to a hike in investment in the months leading up to April 2016, but that is becoming a distant memory now. But incredibly, one Neil O’Brien MP, who funnily enough, was previously an adviser to landlord nemesis, George Osborne in the Treasury, is now calling for curbs in the market for second homes that would extend to buy to let. The idea, reported in The Times on 4th November, is getting traction in a government running scared of Jeremy Corbyn. Part of the plan would involve getting the Bank of England to make buy to let home loans even harder to get by tightening eligibility criteria and hiking interest rates. Mr. O’Brien is also calling for more “tax breaks for young families” partly to be paid for, it seems, by hiking capital gains tax on landlords even further and  whacking them with even higher taxes on rental income and stamp duty land tax. Landlords will groan at mortgage plans because they know that the eligibility rules for mortgages have already been tightened a great deal, making getting financing very hard these days. The special stress tests applied by mortgage lenders makes it especially hard to get larger higher loans to value mortgages. Plus now, there are new underwriting rules for “portfolio landlords” which have led to a reduction in the number of lenders still playing in this end of the market, thus allowing the few existing lenders left to take advantage of less competition to hike interest rates and mortgage fees  higher. I am simply astounded. The fact is that the Tories are frankly terrified of the rise of Labour. the blue corner has at long last finally recognized that housing is a big issue for the young and have decided that one solution is to cripple buy to let landlords. This is madness. Their objective ought to be to look at ways of getting more houses built in areas that need them – mainly London and the commuter owns around it – and build the right type of houses too. There are many things that they could do, but many of the sensible policies would involve standing up to vested interest groups like the big housebuilders – and they are reluctant to do this because the power of this group is considerable in terms of a massive lobbying machine and party support. I hope the buy to let landlords’ representatives at the likes of the RLA and the NLA are doing all they can to counter these daft ideas for more pain to be inflicted on landlords. If not the private rented sector could collapse. And who will then house people who cannot afford to buy and who cannot get a council house or housing association place?
