@ anon in my inbox
i don't think i've reblogged anything from that person so i'm not sure why you're dropping that into my inbox, and also i'm not going to take a random anon's word for what's a pretty serious accusation without some kind of proof which is why i am not publishing that ask even to ask wtf you're talking about.

really happy I'm not American. your country sucks more dicks than a kicked-out teenager forced to do prostitution to survive. also, you guys are so fucking fat and prude while we Danes and Swedes have nude beaches with children are allowed and you literally have to search to see fatties.
This seems like one of your first attempts at trolling, so I'm gonna be nice and give you some helpful tips.
Don't try to be witty. "your country sucks more dicks than a kicked-out teenager forced to do prostitution to survive" is much too long and comes off as you desperately trying to imitate the kind of quippy dialogue you saw in a Joss Whedon or Quinten Tarantino movie. If you really want to get somebody mad, stick to the basics. "Your country sucks" gets the point across clearly and has a much higher chance of provoking an emotional response.
You need a tighter focus on the specific thing I'm supposed to get mad at. In your ask, you mention two American stereotypes, that we're all fat, and that we're all prudes. Two stereotypes is probably the limit you can fit into one troll ask without seeming like you're just throwing things at the wall to see what sticks, but I'd still recommend sticking to one.
Don't give your target the ammo they need to drag your ass in your troll attempt. Right after you get into the fat and prude stereotypes, you mention your country has nude beaches with children as a positive, and right there I have at least three different ways I can turn this back around on you. And that's without going for the low hanging fruit and just calling you a pedo. Which brings me to
Don't troll on main. I know you think you're being brave by not going anon, but really you're just giving your target the opportunity to amplify your mistakes. Just a quick glance through your blog shows that you probably hang around at least a few people who are very judgmental and unforgiving of mistakes. Also that you like Hackers, which is a point in your favor. Your post style indicates you write with emotion and then send, instead of taking a moment to reread what you wrote and see if it will give the impact you're looking for. I've seen this lead to many unforced errors from people on social media. Usually in the form of a slur or seven, or suicide bait, or similar things. All of these things are, of course, expected from anons, but you might not like what happens if you slip up with your actual account. Callout posts and ostracizing from friends or mutuals who want to get back at you for some real or imagined slighty may just be the tip of that iceberg. If nothing else, it makes it much easier for some nefarious individual to mass report your blog and get it taken down when you troll openly. And finally,
Put some effort in. I know I already mentioned low hanging fruit, but I never explained why avoiding it is beneficial. Chances are, anyone outside your own age group (assuming the 1995 in your blog name is your birth year, which if it is, probably not the best thing to share online with how easy doxxing is these days) has been around long enough to get a few troll asks in their day. Especially if they're right wing political blogs. The "Americans are fat and prudish" stereotypes are old and played out. We don't particularly care what a bunch of Europeans who can't even handle mild summer weather think about our eating or bedroom habits. Hell, on the right, you're more likely to find people who take prude as a compliment. If you really want to bother us, you should pounce on the issues of the day. Take the dumbest possible position on a political issue and then earnestly act like it's what you truly believe. As a European, this should come naturally. It's your best shot at actually getting us mad. Though, we are pretty used to European lefties showing their whole ass when trying to comment on American politics, so your mileage may vary on that one. (Oh, a "mile" is a unit of distance measurement. Sort of like a kilometer, but bigger and better.)
I really do hope this helped. Good luck on your next trolling attempt!

And I have to add, idk about who was the post bc all the blogs I was following were supporting Palestine and the few ones who posted didnt know about the strike but once they learn about they stopped. So yes, I think the callout posts were a ego boost for them more than anything
Yes thankfully it wasn’t anyone I was following. It happened to be rhetoric I would find when I was exploring different blogs. I’d click on a blog, find a repulsive post, and I’d consider blocking them for that. Like you said, it was 100% an ego boost, and they think we can’t see it? In the 2020 George Floyd protests, people were doing the same thing, then again for the Russian-Ukrainian war. We’re not idiots we have the ability to recognize patterns, and this is just another expression of that pattern.
The most heart breaking is that, grass-roots activists keep begging people to spend most of their time educating, educating and educating! And amplifying the voices of people in Gaza right now. Activists know that during these times, people search for self-validation, which is why they’re begging people to acknowledge the deep severity of the issue. Which is to not use this genocide as minor argument fodder if it’s not helpful. Call out wrong facts, call out zionist ideas, be a platform to increase reach. So simple, god.

Yeah ok, sorry, i think im gonna mass unfollow and block a lot of people. Ive said before that i wasnt going to be that active on this Blog anymore and i was gonna slowly pull back, but with the looming threat of prequel discourse and a fucking callout orgy taking up most of my dash, im gonna speed that process up.
Its genuinely frustrating, yall will amplify and uplift abrasive bullies bc you want to latch onto their clout and then you ask yourselves why the fandom got so toxic all of a sudden and why everyone is leaving?
Sometimes the person screaming the loudest and angriest isnt the most correct and sometimes piling on does more harm than good.
Callouts about other bloggers leave no room for people to grow or apologise and you will never convince me that callouts arent, at least in part, done for clout and attention.
I am in a lot of fandoms and this is definitely one of the least comfortable, in part bc everyone is constantly afraid theyre going to be the next target of having their missteps dissected and thats why so many of you try so desperately to avert any negative attention by condemning others as loudly as possible. This isnt to say that people didnt deserve getting criticised, but the fact that yall cant find a better way to go about this than to go "HEAR HEAR User xyz has been declared problematic." Is annoying. Also the fact that yall are treating minor missteps or slip ups with the same vehemency as you would unrepentant harmful behaviours is worrying. Some things are worse than others and sometimes the fuss you kick up about a sensitive topic is more traumatising and triggering than the actual mistake youre trying to call out.
So sorry, please dont take it personally if i break a mutual, but im too old for this mean girls shit. I genuinely hope most of these people grow out of their erratic behaviour bc you cant treat people like this.

but why do you repost other peoples photo and than ask #source? in the tags. like it just doesn't make sense to me? I know it's not everything but I will literally be scrolling see a post and then I will see you've just ripped the exact same image and reposted it on your page. Why not just reblog some of these things?
(received 21 march 2024)
Bad faith questioning, for example, achillesinhighheels literally doesnt source and Im literally asking for source for posts. Like why are you upset I am asking to credit people better? And who cares about sourcing any white people when all white people on here are conglomerates of Black people they steal from online without giving those same Black people proper credit and material support? Why are individuals reluctant to articulate their genuine concerns about me? Just say it with your whole chest, the anonymous messages and lies in private are getting old, been old. Numerous blogs share content similarly to mine, particularly given the common practice on platforms like Tumblr where users frequently repost content they don't make nor own. So, what is the underlying issue here? I often find it amusing when browsing the web and noticing that the origins of many posts precede their appearance on trendy Tumblr blogs. Moreover, I frequently come across material sourced from Twitter, Reddit, or blogspots, which I also utilize. Additionally, I contribute to the discourse on art history and theory for years in ways explored by only a handful of other bloggers. For instance, my fashion month coverage prioritizes Black models, sadly a rarity and I've consistently showcased Black art more than 99% of all tumbloggers over the past decade. I acknowledge that nothing is ‘original’ in 2024, but what sets me apart is my willingness to address anti-Blackness before it’s socially profitable and my willingness to critique trendy figures who perpetuate neoliberalism and coded fascism. Is that where the real issue begins? My blogging style aims to exemplify effective curation, emphasizing not just what is posted but how it is presented and framed. My approach is journalistic and underscores the power of relational aesthetics. Instead of resorting to personal attacks, let's engage in constructive dialogue about the root of the issue like what is the real issue here because it’s clearly beyond how I curate on here. This message serves to clarify my stance for any anonymous haters. I've recently expressed a desire to refrain from public callouts, and I intend to uphold that decision. If anyone still harbors concerns, I invite direct communication for a one-on-one discussion. Regarding accusations of not reblogging other bloggers, I actively amplify the work of talented Black curators and artists, and I'm always seeking to elevate new voices, maybe step your game up? Perhaps it's time for people to reassess their perspective. Thank you.

The main problem with the whole mal vs the darkling thing in regards to being possessive (or really when it comes to any of their traits) is the fact that throughout, the darkling is clearly framed as the villain and his actions reflect that, whereas Mal as supposed to be the good guy and best romantic partner for Alina, and yet he has all these awful character traits and tendencies. So its less about how awful the Bad Guy is (since he's supposed to be), and more about how awful the person that we're supposed to believe is the best option for Alina is. I don't ship either, just my two cents.
Okay well... two things. First, your comment about "its less about how awful the bad guy is, since he's supposed to be", takes every comment I've made about Darkles out of context, which seems fitting since everything Darklina's spout about Mal is out of context. Him being the Bad Guy is fine, and if you like him AS A VILLAIN, and acknowledge all the bad shit he does, then my posts aren't for you. I think he's a very interesting villain, and a lot of the terrible shit he does that I have to keep making posts about make him a good villain, the problem is when the terrible shit the "Bad Guy" does is romanticized and viewed as the reasons why Alina SHOULD have picked him. So, don't assume everyone gets that "hes supposed to be awful". The point my post was making is that Darklina's love to call Mal possessive, but then turn around and act like Darkles literally enslaving her in somehow sexy and romantic. It's fucking not, and it's transparent as hell that y'all romanticize and sexualize the actually possessive character, and then project false character traits onto Mal. It's so transparent, it's almost funny.
But, more importantly, to your second, very wrong point, I wonder how much of the narrative about Mal having "awful character traits and tendencies" is actually a commentary on Mal as a character, or is it just Darklina's lying about things Mal has done and everyone accepting that misinterpretation as canon. Because, if were making a list...
Fuck boy - False! Mal was not a fuck boy! He was an attractive teenager who hooked up with consenting girls his age when he could, and he was not in a relationship during that time. Alina had never told him how she felt, so he is not beholden to her. (Also, nobody seems to have an issue with the fact that Darkles hooked up with Zoya in the show, that doesn't make HIM a fuckboy... interesting) (also also, nobody seems to discuss Darkles literally sexually assaulting Alina, and lying and manipulating her to get her to be physically intimate with him so he can use her... double interesting).
Slut Shames Alina - FALSE! The ever favourite callout line from Darklina's "He's all over you" isn't him slut shaming her. First, he has no idea what their relationship is like at that point, but more importantly, he is making an observation of her status in the little palace and how she has become his tool. He has dressed her up in his colors, made her put on a show for his benefit, and has created a situation where Alina appears to be his. Mal is noting that after months of searching for her, believing she was being hurt, tortured, or worse, when he arrives to save her, she looks like the Darkling's pet. (and, even if he WAS angry because he perceived them to be romantically involved, boy just spent months fighting for his life, lost multiple friends, and almost died to find her, all while coming to the realisation that he was in love with her, and then he shows up, after not hearing from her for months... I'd be pissed as hell too.) Important Note: He even acknowledges that what he said was wrong and tries to apologise, before Alina tells him that he was right. (Shadow and Bone, pg. 286). He also then apologizes, completely unprompted, for what he said. (Shadow and Bone, pg. 297).
Fat Shames Alina - False! This one is particularly laughable to me, because its one of the Darklina arguments that falls apart the second you actually read the scene. They are running for their lives in the forest, and Mal has to hunt and gather to feed them. He is noting that Alina's appetite has increased since he last saw her, and he makes a joke (ya know, how you do with friends) about how it would be easier to keep her fed if she still had her more meager appetite from before. He makes no comment on her weight, or her size, and he is not actually commenting on her appetite in a negative way, he is just acknowledging that it's a lot more work for him now that she eats more. Right before he says the line, the quote even proves that he isn't shaming her or thinking badly of her: "With a bemused expression, he watched as I gobbled down my portion and then sighed, still hungry". He is noting a change in her, and complaining that its made more work for him. If you think thats the same as fat shaming, well... thats a you problem.
Hates Alina's Powers - FALSE!!!! How to begin... do we talk about it was Mal's idea to hunt the stag in S&B, because he knew she needed it to be more powerful so she could stop the darkling? Do we talk about how he vowed to find the firebird for her, even though he was terrified of what all that power would do to her? Do we talk about how he literally died so she could achieve the power she needed to save the world? Or maybe we could talk about how he believed in her power more than anyone else, like when everyone was making bets about her abilities with the Cut and he knew she'd go further and better than anyone else expected her too, or when he tells her that he was never afraid of her powers, only what seeking all that power would do to her (which is literally the theme of the books, that power corrupts and seeking unmatched power can destroy you)? Mal being afraid of what is going to happen to Alina, being protective of her and worrying over her, is not the same as him hating her powers. He exists to help remind Alina of the themes of the story, and to guide her into maintaining her humanity.
Abusive - ... Do I even need to explain this one? Must I deign an explanation as to why this favourite Darklina lie is so fucking stupid, and also totally hypocrisy? No? Because we all know Darkles is actually the abusive one and they're trying to project their own shit onto Mal to further their abuse apologist agenda? Cool. Moving on.
Possessive of Alina - False! Throughout the entire series, Mal is quite literally the opposite of possessive, but yall just cant read. Not only does he quite literally step out of the way and allow Nikolai to court Alina without argument, which is the most direct example of him not being possessive, he also spends two full books believing, and repeatedly saying over and over and over, that they can't be together because he is not good enough for her. Mal believes, fully, that Alina deserves more than him, better than him, because he's just a tracker and a soldier, just a regular man with nothing to offer her but his love and his protection, and she is a Saint and should be a Queen. Possessiveness is the wish to own and control someone, it is literally the opposite of Mal believing that he's not good enough and doing everything he can to ensure that Alina achieves everything and gets everything he believes she is owed. A possessive character would not tell her to tell him to leave because he has nothing he can offer her, no title or land or country or crown. A possessive character would not promise to be the blade in her hand, because he believed he had nothing but the blood he could spill to offer her.
Angry - True! Yeah, omg, you caught us, Mal is ANGRY! Heaven forbid a teenager who is traumatized beyond belief and has to give up everything in his life, his position in the military (he deserted for her), his friends and the job he loved (Mikhail and Dubrov died for him, and he can't be a tracker in the army... because he deserted... for Alina), and, most importantly, he has to give up Alina (she should be Queen, he believes, and he has to give up the future he imagined with the girl he loves, who he was pretty sure loved him back, because she's a saint and queen and he's just a man), and more, is ANGRY. He has to be the one to find the amplifiers that he knows will end up hurting her, because thats what she needs to save the world. He has to sit by while Nikolai treats him like the dirt on his shoe and tries to woo Alina for his own personal gain (because Nikoalai did not love Alina. Maybe he came to care for her, but he proposed and spent all of S&S trying to get her to marry him when it was obvious they were not in love. He straight up says its so that the next King of Ravka can be married to the Sun Summoner. It's a power grab.) and he can't do anything about it. So yeah, Mal is angry. And yeah, sometimes he's even angry at Alina, just like sometimes she's angry at him. But they always find their way back, always apologize and try to be better for each other, and if you think anger is a toxic trait, and not simply a natural human emotion, might I suggest touching some fucking grass?
Idk why you thought I'd stand for Mal slander on my blog, cuz I will not. So, I'm gonna stop there, because I have shit to do today, but I really do wonder how much of Mal's 'toxic' or 'terrible' traits, that make him such a 'bad' love interest for Alina, really comes from Darklina's who refuse to actually read the text critically at all, and instead take everything he does and says out of context to further their agenda that Alina should have ended up as the Darkling's fucking slave forever, because thats the "girl power feminist" ending somehow. Mal supports her, loves her, sacrifices for her at every turn, and does everything he can do, to the point of literally dying for her, to ensure that she can defeat Darkles and save the world. He protects her, and when they end up happy and safe together on the orphange that they've rebuilt to help the children that were victims of Darkles war and genocide, he spends his days bringing her tea and cakes and flowers, kissing her silly under the stairs in the view of all the teachers, and calling her names like beauty, beloved, cherished, my heart for the rest of their ordinary life together, if love can ever be called that.

Racism and the ADCU
tw: racism, civil war
So I’ve taken a little writing break for exams and I come back to see a writer I really looked up to posting a civil war au??? where either the reader or the AD character is in the literal confederacy???
I grew up in the south, in a landmark civil war historical location no less. I grew up taking field trips to plantations and battlefields and watching the civil war be romanticised and justified at every angle. I have heard every variation of “heritage not hate” and every Black person in my life has described this culture as an absolute slap in the face.
Now I’m not Black, so I can’t begin to describe what it feels like to open this app and see something like that on my dash.
But here’s what I do know and if you disagree with any of the following please feel free to unfollow me immediately. (And if you’re confused or have questions, I’m happy to direct you to resources PRIVATELY, but we’re not going to public debate POC’s right to comfortably exist in this space and elsewhere so if you’re feeling pumped to send me an ask which attempts to justify racist content with accusations of “sensitivity” or “cancel culture” feel free to NOT).
1. The ADCU community has a racism problem, this comes out in all kinds of ways, but the biggest forms I see on my dash are a.) the intentional and unintentional creation of content which alienates and excludes readers of color. b.) the intentional and unintentional suppression of content and voices created by POC creators.
2. There is no room for neutrality in this conversation, there are times where it’s totally valid to stay out of things because you don’t like drama, I get it, this is not one of those times. Either you are actively learning to do better, listening and amplifying voices, and holding racists on this platform accountable, (even when it’s by big blogs, even when it’s scary). Or you are an enabler and a contributor to racism crisis in this community.
3. If a POC tells you it’s racist, YOU DO NOT GET TO TELL THEM IT’S NOT. You apologise, you fix it, and you learn from it.
For those who are curious, here are the anti-racism steps I’m going to be taking in this blog to further support the people of color in this fandom:
1. It’s a no brainer that if you post explicitly racist content, such as civil war AUs, I unfollow your blog, but additionally from now on if a blog I follow likes/reblogs/otherwise supports this kind of work, it’s an immediate unfollow. I’m not doing it to be mean or petty, I’m doing this because we MUST have a zero tolerance policy for this kind of content.
2. I will be actively searching out for creators of color on this platform to support. There are already a very small number of non-white creators in this fandom, I know of too many amazing creators of color who have left the fandom due to a lack of support and recognition. We’ve got to do better.
3. While I am incredibly impressed by all of the amazing creators I follow, I will no longer be reblogging or recommending any writing which has language which excludes readers of color. Posts explaining how bits such as running fingers through the readers hair/the readers cheeks reddening/etc. exclude readers of color have circulated on this blog and many others enough times that you should know better by now.
Finally, I want to mention that my work has always been intended to be consumed by everyone. I make a conscious effort to avoid any language which implies the reader’s race, ethnicity, body shape, background, and even gender where possible. But if you ever come across anything on my page which excludes you, then should you feel so inclined I am always open to and grateful for callouts.

William T. Spears' Fault-Finding Habit
I've always thought the implication that Will was quick to blame collections for the mysterious walking corpses was odd, when he later showed up and was immediately aware and accepting that there was an outside culprit. Why and how did he find out there was an outside perpetrator to blame, when Ronald was acting like William had been looking for excuses to blame collections, including the potential of collections having been covering up demon involvement?
In retrospect, I think Will being quick to blame collections during that time (when they all were, I assume, being put under pressure by the higher-ups) and then quick to accept there was an outside culprit is possibly just because he thinks in a sort of "who is the one responsible for this bad thing?" pattern and does not like being considered the one "at fault". (See: the way he avoids owning up to how badly he's doing at being undercover during the circus arc).
So, when the higher-ups said "who is at fault for this walking corpse issue?", of course William would find the easiest and most likely target to blame. It wasn't management, so it must be collections - "don't look at me, it must have been them".
Then, seeing that Grelle and Ron had been beat up, the fault must shift to an outside party. Whether that was a demon or someone else doesn't really matter. (Though it still begs the question of how he could know or guess that their being beat up had anything to do with the bizarre doll case, if we're assuming he meant that when he said Grelle and Ron needed to write a report on the culprit).
Anyway.
Perpetual fault-finding would be one of his most negative character traits, even if it's situationally useful (finding fault with the things a demon says to tempt him, for one, and he probably has a keen eye for proofreading lol), but it's also one that makes complete sense for him to have as a grim reaper.
Reapers in the kuro universe are defined by one thing they did "wrong". Just one mistake, that they could never have known the repercussions for. And if you're already the sort of person who tends towards being pessimistic and fussy, then to have your existence defined by your mistakes would naturally result in those traits getting amplified over time.
A fear of making more mistakes, a fear of being held accountable for something that shouldn't have been such a big deal, a fear of having someone else's mistakes put on his record.
A desire to not get blamed for anything more, becoming a habit of pointing out how others are the ones to blame, snowballing into a habit of actively looking for people's faults.
(As an aside, I would love to see the kind of extensive callout posts this man could make on tumblr if he had a blog lmfao)
Nobody is safe from his criticism; even if he won't talk back to his superiors directly, he still complains about the tasks they give him and how unfair they are whenever he gets the chance. Subordinates, peers, and higher-ups, enemy or ally, he's critical of them all.
Which begs the question... Does William believe he did anything wrong, when he killed himself?
If he isn't convinced of his own moral culpability in the defining event of his life and undeath, and that's what's feeding his fear/hatred of ever being the one held accountable for things, then that could have serious repercussions later if it turns out (or just William himself becomes convinced) that Dispatch isn't a morally neutral, natural part of the world order, or that their salvation and purgatory are based on false premises. If he isn't convinced he did anything that bad to begin with, it would mean he's already uncertain of Dispatch at its very core.
And if nobody is safe from his fault-finding, and he only avoids directly going against the higher-ups because it would harm his chances of redemption/ascension, then if something happens that (in his opinion - and it only needs to be his opinion, not the truth) disproves the very existence of those chances, I'm sure he'd have a hell of a lot to say against the higher-ups that he's been bottling up or redirecting into his frustrations with other people.

Ok its been a few hours, ive unfollowed a LOT of people and if i unfollowed you please dont take this as me thinking youre a shitty person, if i havent blocked you, youre fine.
I havent changed my mind on leaving simply because unfollowing so many spn Blogs felt like such a relief, which means i should have done it much sooner.
The reason why this fandom has been so inhospitable and why so many people are leaving is bc so many of you are amplifying and supporting blatant shitstirrers and you refuse to acknowledge it. A little drama and a little spice is fun, but some of you LIVE for callouts, takedowns, vagues, etc. Ive said this before, ive never seen this many suicide baits and hurtful commments thrown around by people who supposedly care about the mental health of others.
All your sanctimonious 'take care of yourselves uwuwu be kind to each other' bs literally means nothing when you expose hundreds of people to harmful and triggering callouts for the sake of what? Fandom safety? Justice? Transparency? Be honest, you know its fucking not, bc i know FOR A FACT you know how harmful these callout campaigns are when you or someone you like is being targeted.
"Uwuwu that wasnt our intention, we were just trying to keep people safe, oh noes why is this gaining so much attention waaah" who the fuck is buying this. If, at this point, you say you havent realised that public callouts do more harm than good (to the person being called out AND to completely innocent victims who are getting retraumatised), then youve either been here for less than a month or youre a liar.
STOP letting shitstirrers shape everyones fandom experience jesus christ
Ive had multiple instances where i was baffled by how disproportionately 'outraged' and vicious some of yall get for no fucking reason (the con fallout? That one time yall bullied someone for saying a perfectly innocent destiel fic helped them cope with the death of their dad? The performative hatred of actors, which is bordering on being a parasocial relationship in its own right? Jesus christ, the fucking blogs where you could submit mean shit about other spn bloggers????), and ive blocked and blacklisted many people bc of that, which is why i wasnt surprised at all when some of the same ppl jumped at a new opportunity to sling some mud. For the record i dont keep track of bloggers after ive blocked them, that would be creepy. But some ppl burn themselves into my memory for being especially abrasive and over the top. Which is why i wasnt surprised, i was just annoyed and exhausted bc you keep letting ppl trick you into carrying out their bullying campaign.
"Why are people leaving??" Bc yall are exhausting.
Again: if the punishment or the public shaming of the culprit is more important to you than the feelings or the safety of the victims, you shouldnt act like youre trying to help anyone or improve things for the victims. Youre doing it out of a warped sense of self righteousness and egotism.
Ive said what i wanted to say about this particular incident and how truly bizzare i thought the process of Events was, but this is a general problem and some of the most toxic people are sadly the loudest and very hard to escape when they continue to be given a platform to do this shit, so its really not a hard decision to leave. I dont want to experience the incoming prequel discourse anyways.

21 Easy & Best Brain Breaks Activities For Kids
Tumblr media
The struggle to keep up the concentration for long hours over the same activity is common, and the Brain Breaks come as the knight in shining armour.
Brain breaks reset their energy levels, regain focus and improve the grasping capacity in kids. Read (insert link of Brain Breaks, concepts, science and benefits blog) to know more about brain breaks for kids.
It is essential to activate the brain breaks before the kids are burned-out or over-exhausted.
The brain breaks activities target to refresh the brain-part dedicated to attention and critical thinking called the Hippocampus.
We have compiled a list of different brain break ideas for kids based on various forms such as physical, sensory, skill-enhancing, calming/relaxing, games.
1. Physical Brain Breaks
Tumblr media
Physical Brain Breaks are those that recharge the kids by physically activating them. These reset the brain faster and eliminate lethargy due to long hours of sitting.
Dancing - Who doesn't love to shake a leg and groove to some great dance numbers? Easiest and most loved by the kids.
Memory trail - An action trail, where the first child will do an action, the second one will add a new one to the previous act. The third child will add another to the first two, and so on. The length of the action sequence increases with each child.
Exercises - A pumping round of cardio set is never out of trend.
Passing the High-five - Each student has to get up and give a Hi-five to the student sitting next, instead of a ball or anything. It is easy-breezy, and mere getting up from the chair for a few seconds re-focuses the brain.
Call to act - Dedicate numbers to various activities. Shout the number, and the kids have to do the action assigned to the number. Random number callout will keep them up and running with an element of surprise.
2. Sensory Brain Breaks
Tumblr media
Sensory brain breaks are the ones that stimulate the 5 senses of the human body. Sensory brain breaks for kids promote sensory growth and strong instincts.
Thunder rain - Tap your fingers from 1 then 2 then 3, upto 5 fingers on a desk or table. The sound that emanates is that of a rainstorm. The movement from 5 fingers to 1 finger feels the storm passing away, raising the sensory awareness.
Play Dough - Development of the creative edge with colours and texture of the playdough is a given fact. The scented doughs also work for the senses of both smell and touch.
Indoor Treasure hunt - During each break, the kids should explore objects from a list and collect them in a bin. Make a list per the classroom/home convenience. Give them the list of things at the start of the day to keep them excited.
Finger painting - Painting like absolute amateurs with fingers and hands is therapeutic. The paint textures and abstract colouring release all the stress build-up and enhance vision senses.
Rhyming world - Reading books, stories, poems with rhymes or making their own rhymes unearths their creativity and innovation intuition.
3.Calming/Relaxing brain breaks
Tumblr media
Intense activity sessions or sporting practises need a little more than just any brain break. That is where Calming and relaxing brain breaks come in handy.
A simple head down - The easiest way to instantly relax an over-worked mind is to close your eyes and put your heads down. It can be done in a classroom, at home, or even on a playground.
Deep Breathing - Just 10-15 deep breaths, and there you go! Even the most palpable stress gets drained as soon as you do this basic routine for a brain break.
Music Meditation - The use of meditational music or chants for meditation calms down the anxiety and restlessness in a class or at home.
4. Skill-enhancing Brain Breaks
Tumblr media
These Brain breaks enhance the skill while shifting the gear from the over-amplified work or activity. Skill-developing brain breaks for kids are good for cognitive and motor skill development.
Puzzles - Puzzles are interesting, challenging and help in creating curiosity in the little budding minds. Kids can put a few pieces together and then continue the remaining puzzle in the next brain-break.
Building blocks - Lego, construction blocks, Mechanix, these game blocks are an efficient way to develop fine-motor skill and aid creative minds. These might seem easy, but even adults are awe-struck by the imagination of kids.
Story threads - Make groups of kids in a class or singly at home. Each kid will add a few lines to the story shared by the previous kid. It gives a chance to draw out the imagination and conscious thoughts from their minds.
Crosswords/activity - Activities such as sudoku, crosswords, and worksheets are a productive way to enhance problem-solving and leadership skills.
Name-place-animal-thing - Learning, fun, speed this game/quiz serves as a comprehensive brain break. Pick a random alphabet, and the kids have to write a name, a place, an animal and a thing starting with that alphabet.
5. Game Brain breaks
Tumblr media
Brain breaks can be done in the form of games also. Games brain breaks switch the mind to another movement without altering the original energy level.
Board games - A quick Chinese checker game can keep up the inquisitorial and excitement while diverting the mind for a short period. Board games are a fresh pause for the long involved sessions of learning or studying.
Guess Who? - The game that dates back and has never stepped down on humour. Each player has a word written on the forehead. Each player has to guess it with the clues given by other players.
Memory Box - Collect a few things in a box or tray and show them to the kids. Give them a minute or two to remember all the things. Remove the box, and they have to write the things they remember.
These are a few of the easy brain break ideas that can be incorporated into the kids' routine. The brain breaks have to be activated and innovated as per the need, age and nature of kids.
Most of these easy to do brain breaks will set the brain functions back to normal. The brain breaks can be timed conveniently, and we are sure the anticipation of more brain breaks will get the kids ready for their next round of study.

How I Run My Blog.
Tumblr media
SPEED: Horrifyingly slow, but sometimes I have my productive spurts where I can squeeze out 7-8 replies in one go. In-between all the essay writing and artwork that I have to complete for classes, my inspiration for writing is something that hits me when I’m tired of the litany of daily work and need some time to unwind from assignments.
REPLIES:  Every muse that I create has a specific part of me in them that I like to develop and amplify in my writing. And being someone who has faced a lot of life issues myself, I feel that my replies to thread would have more emotional response than physical, explaining everything that my muse feels as though I were feeling it myself.
STARTERS: I’m not a fan of writing vague starters unless they’re open. Otherwise, they tend to be as specific to my partner’s muse as possible, unless I’m dry on ideas or cannot think of any other ways that our muses could interact. It’s especially hard for Shouhei, since he wouldn’t go out of his way to approach people unless he’s intrigued or intends on using them for one purpose or another.
INBOX:  Extremely adverse. If I get things in my inbox, I usually them them sit there and ferment for weeks or months before I touch them or try to remember what meme they were from. For this reason, I do my best to involve reblogging memes unless I am really feeling my muse.
SELECTIVITY:  I care immensely about character depth and thus tend to avoid those that don’t have a thorough biography in place. Your muse could be a Mary Sue and I wouldn’t mind as long as they have a reason behind their perfection, their mannerisms, their appearance, or whatever else------but the main thing, for me, is reason for why they are who they are. And I expect headcanons to uphold their background and give some insight on the character, which I hope would ultimately give substance to interactions. I also care a lot about writing style and general literacy, exceptions given to non-native English speakers. This is just personal preference, or maybe how I have been conditioned, but my decade spent roleplaying on GaiaOnline was not without experiencing the pickiness of the roleplaying community there, which was heavily invested in grammar and vast amounts of detail and literacy that could probably put novel writers to shame. I am far more used to reading plain, story-like narratives, which are straightforward, clean, and easy to understand, rather than poetry and purple prose that is lined with ‘artful’ formatting, a severe lack of determiners and pronouns, and words that were probably found on thesaurus dot com------for what reason than to look overbearingly complex? Than for people to think you clever?------but I digress; I could go on about my selectivity, but my personal taste is probably far more specific than even I can bear to comprehend. I consistently follow back maybe half (or less) of my total amount of followers, if that could give any insight on my selectivity.
WISHLIST: What would I, as a mun, want for Shouhei? It’s truly hard for me to decide, since there are many different directions that could lead him down so many paths. I think I’m just looking for someone to change his life in general, in whatever way that is possible.
HONEST NOTE:  I’ve come to dislike muses (however fantastic they are developed or written) that are based heavily upon galaxy aesthetic and flora aesthetic. And this is coming from someone who has an astronomer OC. They are quite tiresome to look at, especially when many tend to dive down the same road. Also stop using Mookie’s art as a canon visual for your faceclaim. Yikes, this became a callout.
