Temari was pregnant on her wedding day: A Naruto Timeline analysis
[usual disclaimer: I love studying canon timeline but no one's headcanons have to be bound to it just do what you like bye]
Note: for simplicity, I gave years numbers, the Kyuubi attack/Naruto's birth are in 2000 and the other dates are based on that
Fact 1: Gaara is at least 20
In Gaara Hidden, one of the councilmen tells Gaara "You've steadily grown, and reached the age of twenty" and Temari and Shikamaru are in the process of choosing their wedding date in this novel as well, so the Wedding has to happen later than that.
We know from the data book that Gaara is from the same school year as Naruto, and born in January, so he is born in January 2001. (In Japan, the school year is from April to March of the next year and the children in the same class are the ones born during the same school year, not civil year. If you want to know why I say that data books are based on school years, not civil years, flick me a request and I will happily do so! Just not here because it'd be too long.)
We can conclude that the wedding is in February 2021 or later.
Fact 2: Shikadai graduates 15 years after the 4th war
There is no indication that I've found in canon material about when the Boruto events happen, but we can read in this interview that Naruto Gaiden happens 15 years after the last chapter of Naruto. (We will have to assume that "last chapter" here means chapter 699, not 700, or else all the new gen has spent 15 years being teenagers at the academy.) Naruto Gaiden opens with Shino telling the class (Shikadai is there) that the graduation exam will be in a week.
The issue here is that chapter 699 happens in October (Minato says happy birthday to Naruto in chapter 691 the same day, and we know from the data books he was born in October) and the graduation is presumably in March (again, that's one the school year ends, and Itachi is also said to graduate "in the springtime" in Itachi Shinden). So it could mean either 15,5 years later, or 14,5 years later.
The 4th War happens in October 2017 (Naruto turns 17 during it, that's the age the data book gives us).
We can conclude that Shikadai graduates either in March 2032 or 2033.
Fact 3: Shikadai graduates at 11
It is the minimum age as per the law (it is said in Itachi Shinden, this law is made shortly before the Rookie 9 graduate: “now that it was a time of peace [...] it was no longer possible to graduate in a short time [...] no matter how talented Sasuke was, he couldn't become a ninja until he was eleven years old”).
It is the age at which all the Rookie 9 graduate (they are said to turn 12 during the first year of naruto and 13 during the second, again, I can give more details about data book ages in another post if needed).
The naruto wiki tells me that the Naruto data book says he is 12 for the Chuunin Exam, but the scan I have of the data book do not seem to indicate any age that I can find?
So this is not 100% a fact that I have found a canon material number about, but it's the most logical possibility (he's not allowed to graduate younger, there's no reason he would graduate older, this is what happened to the previous gen, and this is what the whole fandom seems to believe, so, yeah).
Similarly, everyone seems to agree that his birthday is September 23, I have not found where that comes from yet, but I have to assume it does come from somewhere. If you know please tell me!
[Edit: apparently it comes from a bonus calendar in the Shounen Jump issue 6-7 of 2019 but I haven't found a scan yet.]
We can conclude that Shikadai was born in either September 2020 or 2021, depending on the graduation date.
Conclusion
If Gaara Hiden and the wedding were in 2021, Shikadai cannot have been born in 2020, so he has to be born in September 2021. If we imagine that Gaara Hiden takes place right after Gaara's birthday (the earliest date) and then Temari and Shikamaru got married on the month that followed, Temari would have been 2 months pregnant, and this is the minimum she could have been.
Your honour, they have sinned.

Maybe Sakura enjoyed his company too much so she really missed him after he left, and decided to join him whether he wanted it or not.
I think u answered this for one of your posts , idk considering the lack of thought kishi put in gaiden with taka having a picture yet Sakura didn't have a family pic , it shows maybe this was what he wanted to portray ? Because the word chased is used , trust me I would want it to be a mutual decision or sasuke asking her first but we have to go by canon facts
We are going by canon facts, and it is not a canon fact that Sasuke had to give his location to Kakashi in order to discuss a non-existent mission, nor is it a canon fact that Sakura hunted Sasuke down without his consent.
Here are the canon facts (including the novels since they're the only things which give official information regarding this time period).
Yes, the word "chased" was used, but that does not automatically indicate that she went to him without him knowing about it.
Sasuke did not ever disclose his location to anyone, regardless of however dire the situation may have been, as indicated during Sakura Hiden.
Sasuke had no reason at that point to contact Kakashi or anyone else for that matter, for the purpose of meeting up, because he was not on a mission, he was on his own personal business.
Whenever Sasuke was away for long periods of time (the 2 year time skip between parts 1 & 2, his Kaguya mission), Sakura never reached her wit's end with his absence, she always persevered. So there would be a serious lack of continuity if she were to randomly reach her wit's end for this.
Sakura respected Sasuke's wish to travel alone during 699, and during Sakura Hiden, she gave no indication that she would ever consider tracking him down even if he didn't want her there. Why would anyone want to start a relationship under those circumstances anyway? Too many things just don't make sense in this scenario.
There would be no way for Sakura to track Sasuke down in the first place, if he didn't let her know where to find him.
Sasuke returned to the village during Sasuke Shinden's conclusion. Therefore, he would have had ample opportunities to speak with Sakura in person regarding where he'd be going next. I know that it is not confirmed that he spoke to her about this. However, it is a fact that he did return to the village, so this scenario would make far more sense than him randomly requesting to meet up with Kakashi for no reason, and then Sakura intercepting that message, uncharacteristically losing her patience and her respect of Sasuke's wishes, and tracking him down without his consent. That just wouldn't happen when considering all of the above.

someone on tiktok was arguing that sasuke retsuden wasn’t canon and i posted a tiktok in response to their video showing that the sasuke retsuden episodes were labeled as “MANGA CANON” just like the code arc
fans are forgetting that there are multiple light novels/spin offs that have been animated and labeled as MANGA CANON including sasuke shinden and naruto gaiden (and i believe the light novel about shikamaru i may be wrong).
a lot of people are incapable of understanding that just bc the novels are spin offs/were not written by kishi DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE NOT CANON ESPECIALLY IF KISHI INCORPORATES THEM INTO THE ANIME

Can you by any chance prove that sasuke retsuden timeline wasn't made by Kishimoto or Ikemoto? Also could you maybe put more proof of the timelines not adding up? If that's possible this is related to you latest post btw about sasuke retsuden not being cannon
The fact many of the novels are misplaced is proof of it if you read the novels you would notice a lot of details. Plus Kishimoto did the illustrations for the previous novels, while the writing was done by others he was still involved as he draw all the art in the novels. However the Retsuden series while Kishimoto drew the covers the actual designs for them were sent to him he didn't come up with them on his own nor do the novels have other art that was done by Kishimoto.
The Hiden novels series was done as part of the Naruto project for the the 15 anniversary of Naruto ending it including the Last and Gaiden. Kishimoto was heavily involved in the Naruto project.
The Shinden series was originally planned to be a set of novels under the Naruto Light Novel Project the that would connect Naruto with the Boruto series hence why the first novel Konoha from chapter 700 of Naruto into Gaiden. The author of Ninja Scrolls is the same one who did A Perfect Day for the wedding. The light novel project was a follow up to the Naruto project and also had Kishimoto doing illustrations hence why all the timelines intersect cause Kishimoto was involved in the projects as a whole.
Proof of this is there is even an official tweet from when Konoha Ninja Scrolls was first released which shows the gaiden scene with Kakashi. The whole story was built off what happend in chapter 700 and gaiden.
Tumblr media
Now the other novels in series were delayed till 2018, but they all factor in the events of the Boruto manga and fit nicely into the timeline.
The second novel parent and child day is shortly after they graduate and are genin taking mission.
Third novel Sasuke's Star Pupil takes places after the Momoshiki arc while.
Fourth Novel A Cloud Dancing in Forlorn Falling Petals takes place during the Mujina Bandits Arc.
Now all of these novels had Kishimoto doing illustrations were all part of projects that factored in Naruto and Boruto as Kishimoto and Ikemoto was working on them. If either Kishimoto or Ikemoto did the timeline they wouldn't have made errors that they did cause they were actively involved in the project the novels were produced for and took special care to fit them into what was or already happend in the Naruto and Boruto manga. If you read the novels you will notice a lot of clues and references that point out when they happend and it is easy to tell which novel events predate which.

Moonlighting
I have Yamato on watch now. I know where he is. (Naruto Gaiden, Ch. 2) | Kakayama Week Day 3: Alternative Prompt (Hot Springs) | AO3 |
Sneaking in is probably ill-advised, thinks Tenzō, but he doesn’t imagine the owner of this inn would appreciate him attempting to enter through the front door at this hour. As it is, he steps off the conveniently-grown tree branch and phases through the wall into the second-story room.
His eyes land on the sleeping form immediately, and he steps forward. He manages one step before he feels the tip of a blade pressed against his back, ready to strike. The sleeping figure disappears with a pop.
Turning so his face is visible in the moonlight, he asks, “Is that a kunai I’m feeling, or are you just happy to see me?”
Kakashi stows his weapon. “Both. Evening, Tenzō.”
“Do you keep weapons in all of your robes?” He steps backward, this time, further into the room.
“Yes, in fact.” Kakashi matches him, moving forward in the same direction.
A pause. “You know, that’s a little paranoid.”
A hand on Tenzō’s shoulder, tugging him closer. “That’ll happen when people keep breaking into your room.”
The moment Kakashi pulls down his mask, Tenzō leans in to kiss him, slow and warm and full of longing. When they pull away, he says, “Thank you, for sending the kids to see me. It was good to see Naruto, and even Sasuke too. Sarada’s practically a genin now.”
“What did you think of her?” asks Kakashi, falling back onto the bed.
Tenzō follows suit. “From what I could tell, she has Sasuke’s face with Sakura’s personality.”
“Personally, I see a bit of Naruto in her.”
“Don’t tell Sasuke.”
Kakashi smothers his laughter against Tenzō. “Careful. If I sound like I’m having too much fun in here, Mirai’s sure to think I’m up to something.”
“What’s she like?”
After a moment of thought, Kakashi decides, “Kurenai’s face with Asuma’s teenage personality. Be glad you missed that period in his life. He was very tightly-wound.”
“We can’t all be cool and hip, rival,” deadpans Tenzō, grinning.
“If you say that three times, Gai will appear at my window.”
Tenzō’s eyes drift to the window, as if expecting to see their friend standing on his hands in the moonlight. He turns his head back to Kakashi. “How is the nostalgia tour going? Am I meant to believe that either of you have taken any time to rest?” Raising his eyebrows, he adds, “I’m sure it’s a complete coincidence the last inn you stayed at was near to the recent kidnappings in Yugakure.”
Kakashi averts his gaze, pursing his lips in a way that tells Tenzō he’s holding back his own smile. “Was it? Sounds troublesome.”
“Then you’ll be happy to know that I heard the victims have been returned to their village without harm,” Tenzō says lightly. At Kakashi’s answering grin, he lets out a beleaguered huff, shifting closer to his companion. An arm is thrown around Tenzō’s shoulders. “Most shinobi your age retire, Kakashi.”
“Pot-kettle,” replies Kakashi, with a defiant prod at his side. “Besides, I am retired. Why else would I be lazing around hot springs?”
“To attract trouble,” says Tenzō, entirely serious.
“Twenty years,” says Kakashi, with an exaggerated sigh, “and not an ounce of faith.”
“I have faith,” responds the other man fondly, “that you will make sure to protect as many people as you can until the day you die of chakra exhaustion. Again.” He adds, narrowing his eyes.
Kakashi holds a hand to his heart. “Low blow, shinobi. My reserves have been much better since I lost the sharingan. And I repeat,” says the former Kage, with narrowed eyes of his own, “Pot-kettle. Remind me, which of us is on vacation with his best friend, and which of us is merely switching out on his regular rotation guarding a former S-rank criminal?”
“I’m younger than you,” Tenzō tells him, unrepentant.
Kakashi traces the smile lines on Tenzō’s tired face, and his eyes close involuntarily. “Are you?” he teases. “Doesn’t look like it.”
“Are you calling me old, Rokudaime?” says Tenzō, his smile forming beneath Kakashi’s hands.
“You started it,” retorts Kakashi, but he leans into Tenzō as he says it. When his lips are by Tenzō’s ear, he goads, “Most shinobi your age retire, Tenzō.”
Tenzō opens his eyes. “I have my duty to Konoha,” he reminds the other man. There is no touch of resentment in him. Only loyalty to his village and his people, as he makes sure the children of Konoha, at least, will never be swept away in the night to a laboratory again.
“You’ve done your duty to Konoha,” says Kakashi. Equally, Kakashi doesn’t phrase it like an argument. He notes it like it’s an indisputable truth, and Tenzō can’t hold his gaze anymore.
“My duty will never be done,” Tenzō says firmly, staring up at the ceiling. Unbidden, images from fourteen years past flood his mind. And then, older images, ones he barely remembers now, but ones that are filled with green light and distorted glass.
Kakashi takes hold of his chin to redirect his attention. “I won’t deny that I still don’t trust Orochimaru. His pardon was always more strategic than sentimental. But there are new faces to take on those duties, Tenzō. Ones just as eager as you to protect the village.” There is an offer, in Kakashi’s tone, which he does not give voice.
Tenzō asks anyway. “What would you have me do instead?”
“Whatever you want,” says Kakashi simply. “Go visit some hot springs. Get a dog. Start a farm.”
Taking hold of Kakashi’s wrist, Tenzō murmurs, “Those sound a lot like your plans.” There is endearment in his voice as he says it.
“I already have eight dogs,” Kakashi replies innocuously. “And I don’t know much about farming.”
Laughing, Tenzō says, “They named you poorly, then.”
“They named you well,” says Kakashi, with a sincerity that makes his heart stutter, even after so many years.
Tenzō can imagine a life, where he isn’t a shinobi. Where he sits in the sun in civilian clothing making something good out of hard work instead of chakra. Where he visits inns like this for more than just an evening between missions. He doesn’t know if it’s possible, or even what he wants, but Kakashi makes him think about it. That in itself, seems like a task he could not have done alone.
“Hot springs, huh?” Tenzō asks pensively.
Kakashi nods. And then, with an impish grin, he offers, “I can show you these ones if you like.”

Honestly, the thing that SasuSaku stans don't understand is why Sasuke never contacts his family.
I mean, I want something to remain in history because it has traumatised me and made me do so many things that have taken me years to compensate for because I was wrong, then why is this outsider who I call my wife bashing the fckin Uchiha clan symbol and wearing it like a trophy for the whole world to show?
Why would he even want to contact a person like that? Wearing the clan symbol and patronizing it across the whole friggen house and sewing it on every other peice of cloth they had when Sasuke HIMSELF doesn't even wear it because of reasons CLEARLY depicted onscreen.
Tumblr media
Even back when Sarada was attacked, Shin made it clear to his clones that they were supposed to bring him the girl with glasses and the bears the Uchiha crest.
Tumblr media
Well if that ain't accurate enough, judging by the amount of people you can associate that short description?
Uchiha Sasuke hasn't worn the symbol ever since Chapter 699. He hasn't worn it in the Sasuke Shinden, barely in the Last, clearly not the Boruto movie and definitely not in the Boruto series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Ohhh~~ but Sasuke-kun probably wears it under his cloak in Shinden and vest in Boruto.~"
Does he ever take it off the show it around? In his umm *cough*house*cough*? In an Inn with the others around?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No.
This isn't even a big issue tbh, but it'd be nice if Sakura actually respected and understood his wishes for once since he clearly doesn't want to do anything with the Uchiha since he wanted them to remain in history.

The Cycle of Hatred in Naruto fandom.
Ok, so I just wanted to write a little post on why this fandom (Naruto fandom that is) needs to chill and stop hating on each other so much. But first, let’s get clear in our minds that “Naruto” is a business franchise, and the goal of any business venture is to earn 💰. Earn money by evoking emotions in you. Now that this is clear, let’s move on. This will be a short (not rant) but rather advise to the various “camps” in this community.
1. To the remaining NaruSaku bunch:
Yes, I get it, you’re disappointed with the ending. Yes, you wanted Naruto with Sakura and apparently you cannot see how in the world NaruHina even happened. But if you took your bias out for a bit, you would see that pairing Naruto with Hinata was THE ONLY positive outcome for Naruto romance-wise. Or did you really want Naruto to end up with a “prize” that never even ONCE expressed her desire to be with him romantically in any way, shape or form. And don’t bring up the fake confession because this is all that is. FAKE. To save the love of her life from sinking into darkness. And how can you go around Hinata’s heartfelt confession during the Pein arc? So, please STOP insulting Hinata and her fans - let people enjoy the canon pairings that were planned from the beginning of serialisation of the project.
2. To the very vocal SNS community:
I’ll just keep it simple. If Masashi Kishimoto wanted this manga to be shonen-ai or yaoi, he would’ve acted on it. Editor or not, Kishi stands behind his story. He always has. And please don’t bring the supposed “homophobia” into this. Homophobia is a very serious rl issue that affects millions of people worldwide and you’re NOT helping the cause by insulting and hating on people enjoying the het canon pairings of Narutoverse. You do realize that your rants about it only trigger more hate towards yourselves and the cycle of hatred goes on. So we all end up bashing real living breathing humans “for the sake” of inked characters.. Let it sink in.
3. To the die hard SasuKarin minority:
Bruh.. There’s so much I’d like to bring up here but I’ll stick to basics. Firstly, your claim to be Sasuke fans is ridiculous because you seem to view him as a mindless, powerless beta male that was harassed by a woman SO HARD that he decided to give it to her.. really?! Is that who you think he is? Because that’s what you all seem to claim by saying that “Sakura chased after him”. You take that line from Gaiden and take it completely out of context. Do you know ANYTHING about Sasuke? Anything at all? If there’s anything manga taught us about his character is that Sasuke Uchiha acts as he pleases. He did so when he first left the village, he did so when he killed Orochimaru, he did so when he fought with Naruto, he did so when he willingly gave up his old worldview, and he did so when he married his wife. And you bring up “rape” into the matter. Seriously?! Do I need to bring up the sweaty t-shirts, licking somebody all over and ravaging them in their sleep? Do I? Thankfully, Karin redeemed herself by worrying about Sasuke’s wife well-being enough to deliver her baby and by thinking about HER happiness in Sasuke Shinden. She clearly cares about the Uchiha family wellbeing more than you do. She moved on!! So should you.
4. To NaruHina and SasuSaku respectively:
There is NO popularity contest. Man, I can’t believe we’ve got to this. There is absolutely NO popularity contest between Sakura and Hinata, neither there is for their romances. They’re different, just as the girls are different, and the boys are different. There is no such thing as a cookies cutter perfect romance. They’re written differently and I’m thankful to Kishimoto for that. I wouldn’t want every couples way to the altar copy-pasted. SS is angstier and more complicated. Their history is different. Yes. NH has been more subtle during the Shippuden but both pairings came together as was planned and we should feel proud and victorious that our ships made it to canon. But that’s too boring I guess. I guess tearing each other down is the new sport. So please tell me: what has Sakura ever done to Hinata except for being a good friend?! Same goes for Hinata. Can you put away your hate for Sakura/Hinata for one minute to appreciate the fact that the girls are ACTUALLY HAPPY! The way it was planned from the beginning. They’ve both suffered, ached and spilled tears for the men they love SO MUCH. And now they’re happy! Can’t we celebrate that?! This brings me to my next and final point.
5. To Sakura haters:
I’ll keep it brief. I honestly really truthfully DO NOT get WHY you hate on her so much.I REALLY DON’T.
5.1. For those of you who hate her for getting in the way of your ship, please see above. You really must either not have read the manga, or fanfiction.net is your source of truth. Hating her for being paired with Sasuke is same as hating Kishimoto for making Naruto a jinchuuriki because both canon facts were pre-planned by the author.
5.2. If you hate her for being mean to Naruto, then I suggest reading the manga past chapter 3 because this misconception gets debunked really quickly. You should stop refusing to accept the fact that Sakura really cares about Naruto as a friend and a precious teammate.
5.3. If you hate her for being “useless”, I don’t even know what to tell you because.. you know.. you don’t know the content of the manga called “Naruto” so why don’t you put away your bias for a minute and try to see what I see? All you have to do is clear your mind of all misconceptions and just read the manga with, you know, open mind?! To see how many lives she saved, how much of strength she has considering her humble beginnings, and how much valued she is in the village.
To the rest of Naruto fandom that gets swayed in every direction influenced by reviewers on social media, extremist shippers or even have trouble realizing that characters are fictional and nothing really happens to them unless it’s written into the canon verse by the author, I have one advice to you: please don’t let anyone’s opinions affect your judgement. YouTube reviewers are PAID to provoke and trigger you. They earn money by imposing THEIR ideas and theories onto YOU. Some of them bring their own life experiences into the discussion which only causes you to self-insert.
Naruto is an awesome manga! It deals with such important issues and carries such a positive message! Please, STOP ruining it by pointless wars that only fuel more hate!
Now. Going back to my first point about the money. Anime production studios have a huuuge interest in you staying glued to the screens. They’ll do anything to provoke you to talk about whatever happens on screen. They will bring their own bias into the mix, and fuel this madness even more. For the anime only fans I will say that you’re doing a huge disservice to yourself and to the work of art that “Naruto” is by only watching anime. It adds another layer of interpretation thus confusing you even more. Please, read the manga! It’s so worth it!

trying to get my blank period timeline in order for future fics and
its confirmed that sasuke and sakura established some kind of commitment to each other in the months between the end of the war and before he leaves for his journey by sakura hiden
in this period he also tells her all about the uchiha clan downfall and his memories about his family (by 699 she knows the significance of the forehead poke and she knows that he wanted to be on the leaf police force in the sasuke shinden novel and he definitely told her his personal memories by naruto shinden)
sasuke sends her a hawk his lame wedding gift at naruto’s wedding (he could have sent it to naruto directly) and with the inosai scene, it implies that he is her date and he knows that she is waiting for him
everyone (not only team 7) knows about their relationship while they are apart cuz karin decides to give that picture of taka to sakura in sasuke shinden (the one that sarada eventually finds in naruto gaiden)
sasuke finally returns to the village after 2 years (because of naruto’s note to him with sakura’s comment about him being in the police force) and says im home, sakura (end of sakura hiden/sasuke shinden)
there is 15 years between 699 and 700. sasuke comes back 2 years after the war, and since sarada is 11 y/o in naruto gaiden, they wouldve had her 2 years after he comes back.
how long do we think they stayed in the village before they went on their travels? my headcanon is now that they got married in like the few months they stayed in konoha before they went on their travels (sasuke would absolutely insist this is the honourable thing to do and be all sakura ive loved u this whole time who cares if we’ve only been dating officially for a few months)
if fourth ninja world war ends oct 11 year 1 and sarada is born march 31 year 4. then they conceived sarada in june year 3 (SUMMER SEX)
they give birth in karin’s hideout can u imagine sasuke frantically bringing a preggo sakura, absolutely bridal style, to one of orochimarus hideouts lmao and they probably return to konoha right after
bonus: karin tells suigetsu that sakura makes sasuke happy in naruto gaiden probably because she witnessed it when sakura gave birth (karin unexpectedly becomes the biggest ss shipper in boruto)
sasuke stays in konoha until at least sarada can walk (children usually walk at around 1 y/o? maybe ninja babies are faster lol)
theres all this weird sp stuff that doesnt really make sense...like where sakura says he never kissed her?  (am i even remembering this right but anyway we already know this isnt true) also that their first date was 2 mins (i mean...who cares they travelled together for nearly 2 years)
sasuke tells naruto to tell sakura im sorry for everything (presumably for not coming home in ten years sorry there is no way around this)
sasuke says in sasuke retsuden that they exchange letters regularly (idk if this only applies to post naruto gaiden but probably not because he sends her the hawk letter in the naruhina wedding arc and also regularly sends updates to naruto)
sakura says in boruto post chuunin exams that sometimes he comes home to sleep for sex without sarada knowing (only post naruto gaiden/pre and post chuunin exams? but the way he “randomly” pops in during naruto shinden suggests to me that he does this all the time without seeing sarada)

Sasuke and sakura travelling during post sasuke shinden pre gaiden. So if they're travelling whenever they stayed at an inn did they stay in the same room or this was was something which occured slowly .
I was reading a fic where sakura reaches out to touch sasuke 's face during the same era and he flinched ?? Do you think he would be uncomfortable with her physical contacts or advances during their travelling era
I'd assume they stayed in the same room, but slept separately at first, then slowly began to sleep closer. I also highly doubt that Sasuke would flinch at her touch, he had never flinched at her or anyone else's touch before, so I see no reason why he'd start then.

Is every part of ftcoye going to be posted separately then? How many parts are you planning on?
YEAH so this series is going to be so obnoxiously long it would be. obnoxious to keep it as one fic so I’m def separating it. each part (currently planning 5!) will be posted separately, and in between each part im going to do a gaiden/shinden interlude, which will be posted separately.
the gaiden after part 1... :) is featuring a character who has appeared in one arc so far that I’m GENUINELY ASTONISHED no one has asked abt yet. If someone tries to guess and gets it correct I will confirm

✫Can I request a character doing x/y/z unsavory thing?
It’s officially canon™ that none of the members of team Gai engage in pedophilia, non-con, abuse, neglect, etc. I won’t write scenarios that include them doing these!
Part I Neji’s calloused treatment of Hinata and early cold demeanor towards his team which was shown in brief in the anime, but Pre-Exams Neji would not engage in the systematic abuse of any other character. Genin!Neji would verbally put down other characters, threaten/belittle them if they pressed on his insecurities, or give them a swift but impersonal beat-down if they challenged him. His murderous anger would only be reserved for the main branch (or enemy-nin), and only exuded in situations that are within the rules and guidelines. Instances of his anger outside of this would be shut down by Gai or by having his curse seal activated. Remember that Genin!Neji is still a 13/14 year old boy with anger issues and trauma. He is, at worst, a teenage bully who might take things a little too far.
✫Can I request scenarios that involve abuse/disorders/violence?
Yes, but keep in mind all HCs/Scenarios that involve readers coping with abuse/disorders/unsavory events will be summarily labeled, excessively tagged, and hidden beneath cuts. These requests may be pushed back in favor of others because they will take longer to write.
✫Why do “High-Risk” content requests take so much longer?
HCs/Scenarios that involve characters/readers coping with abuse/disorders/violence will take much longer. I will not write about something I have not done research on, so please be patient! I want to be sure that I avoid harmful portrayals or stereotypes. I know fictional HCs/Scenarios can be therapeutic and provide escapism, so I want to handle these requests with care to keep the environment of this blog welcoming and friendly for everyone who loves team Gai.
Helpful Tip: Send me a second ask/DM that mentions your request and some pointers or specific things you would like me to touch on/avoid in your request. This will be very informative for me and will speed up the time it takes for me to write! Plus, it’ll be anonymous!
About Me:
Name: Pumpkin (She/Her)
Age: 24 (I’m an adult, so minors please keep this in mind!)
Loves: Pumpkins, Coffee, Team Gai.
Dislikes: OLIVES.
Favorite Character: Neji. I always go for characters with emotional depth and he has so much of it. Also, Hyuga politics are incredibly compelling and should have had their own arc in the series. I am not a fan of how his arc ended overall and I have complaints about Naruto’s talk-no-jutsu in the chunin arc (because it didn’t actually address Neji’s major problems), but overall I find that Neji is a character with the perfect balance of strengths, flaws, motivations, and his stoicism is balanced by his good heart.
Lee is a very close second, followed by Tenten and Gai who are tied for a close third.
Least Favorite Character: Sasuke. While not technically my “least” favorite, I find the Uchiha as a whole to be extremely…boring. Sasuke’s character and motivations weren’t very compelling or consistent (and while inconsistency is pretty human he isn’t humanized well) and the last arc did not do him justice and did not fully redeem him.
I’m also not a fan of how he turned out in the epilogue. In general, he wasn’t handled well as a character. As a main character for the series, I felt like I was always expecting more. I dislike him because of the inconsistent writing, but I do believe he had potential.
Favorite Ships: Naruhina. Naruto has someone who literally only wishes for his happiness and success, Hinata has the support and affirmation she’s always looked for. They have a very sweet and fluffy dynamic, and their characters are almost perfect compliments for one another.
While the series failed to do them justice, “The Last” as a standalone arc for them was lovely and should have been inserted in the actual series, preferably sometime before the last war arc. I really wish they had more in the series to further their relationship.
Least Favorite Ships: Oh boy. I do not ship NejiTen or LeeTen and I oppose both ships.
I ship Tenten only with herself. In the shinden novels it’s mentioned that Tenten has never had any romantic goals. A major character development piece is her finally coming to terms with the fact that she’s fine being as she is without the societal pressure of having to marry or pursue romance. Shipping her with anyone is a huge disservice to her character and a core part of her identity, and disregards a major part of her personality. Also read: it’s OOC.
Tenten’s bro-ship with her teammates is golden and a wonderful portrayal of how guy/girl friendships can be extremely deep and comfortable while still being platonic. That needs representation!
Additionally, neither ship has a real foundation. With the exception of Chouji/Karui, all romantic connections were stated explicitly in the anime/manga OR in the Gaiden novels (Chouji/Karui was alluded to in Sakura Hiden.) Tenten, when she IS in Konoha Gaiden, explicitly mentions she is disinterested in romance. This is consistent with her character and a perfectly acceptable choice for her narrative, which is why I support it.
Neji and Tenten only bond over being too mature for Gai/Lee shenanigans and training together when Lee/Gai are off. In the Chunin arc she comments that both Sasuke and Kakashi are cute, but makes no mention of Neji aside from her admiration of his abilities. Neji comments on her abilities as well during her fight with Temari, but Lee is the one who gives her open support. Their relationship is shown as friendly, but is strictly a Nakama bond. Most of their interaction in the Chunin exams is related to, or entirely revolves around the absence of Lee. There are no allusions to their relationship, even as a joke. In a shounen anime, romance is almost always explicitly mentioned or alluded to. In Naruto, this was also true for virtually all pairings and love triangles. Neji and Tenten never had this. Any development is purely-fan made or fan-imagined.
I especially dislike this pairing because from a narrative/storytelling standpoint and the way they are characterized, they do not (and would not) contribute to the other's personal development in any significant fashion. Tenten trained with Neji in the Chunin exams for two reasons; her abilities were most suited for training Kaiten, and she was his teammate--therefore the only reasonable choice to secretly practice a technique that Neji was not supposed to learn. She was his primary supporter in the stands because she trained with him and Lee/Gai were both absent to also comment on Neji. Even though Kishi made a lot of questionable choices when it came to romance, not having Neji and Tenten together was not one of them. It made perfect sense for both characters to work together when necessary, but they have zero shared themes or development arcs. The only one, "Getting stronger," is a Team Gai-wide theme.
Even if Tenten was given more personal development in the series, her development would have revolved around herself and the development of her own abilities as a shinobi. She was never a character that was meant for romance. And it's perfectly fine for her to be that way.
Lee and Tenten have more personal interactions and far more relationship building moments in both canon and fillers, but they especially don’t have romantic chemistry--more brother/sister. They are confirmed as not together in Boruto for this very reason. They are fiercely supportive of one another and a fantastic duo. This does not mean they need a romance, either.
Feel free to ship who you like, but please do not request character x character on this blog, the request will be summarily deleted. This is not a shipping blog, but there are others out there that can cater to your needs. Thank you!

Can you please debunk these? ?

The so called canon timeline used is a not an actual timeline of the novels in canon chronological order as I pointed out in a previous post in fact if from what I found out the timelines weren't done by either Kishimoto or Ikemoto, but by studio pierrott as part of marketing. Konoha Shinden: Steam Ninja Scrolls is listed before the first Boruto novel, however the timeline of Ninja Scrolls is just before Boruto and is class graduate starting at the same time of the last chapter of Naruto and going into Gaiden. The five kage summit mentioned in both that chapter and novel are the same. Further more in chapter 700 of Naruto, Mira is getting ready to leave meet up with Kakashi and Gai this is where the events of Ninja Scrolls start and later on Kakashi is on the phone to Naruto this is the same phone call that happens in of Gaiden.
Tumblr media
Now here is the definite proof that timeline is not official and fake based on what I just explained Konoha Shinden can not be placed next to the first Boruto novel cause the Boruto novel series covers from when Boruto starts the academy to when they graduate.
Here is the Boruto novels in order-
Tumblr media
So as you can see Konoha Ninja scrolls can not happen before the Boruto novel series only after. Now while part of that timeline is accurate everything after Konoha Ninja scrolls has been pasted on as they were released that is why the Boruto novels are after Konoha Ninja Scrolls as well as why the some of the 2018 Shinden series is after the Boruto Movie novel even though parent and child day take place before it. That is cause studio pierrott didn't concern itself with reading the novels and putting them down in the actual order.
As for the rest it is incorrect the publisher does not decide canon events, all of the Naruto movies are official Naruto content produced by studio pierrott the same people who did that timeline, but only the Last and Boruto movies are canon. That is cause it is impossible for the events of the other movies to happen in line with canon events of the manga. The same holds true for the novels they aren't canon unless they can chronological fit into the canon continuum which the Retsuden Novels can't. They take place between the Mujina Bandits Arc and Vessel Arc, but there is no reference and consider Naruto being critically ill is the major plot point for the Retsuden Novels none of the events of the novels can take place cause Naruto is never mentioned to have gotten sick around that time in canon. Even the author of the Retsuden series stated only the original comic is canon.
Tumblr media
Further more there are inconsistences in the novel canon, one is the tradition of wedding rings not being part Konoha culture which is false as both Kurenai and Hinata have wedding rings. Further more in Akatsuki Hiden: Evil Flowers in Full Bloom which is also considered canon Sasuke notes Kiiro's wedding ring yet in Retsuden he doesn't know about them at all. So not one but three references of wedding rings are made in canon two of which in the canon manga yet Sasuke conveniently doesn't know about them.
Sasuke and other characters tend to be out of character in Retsuden which is somthing most fans agree on.
That timeline is somthing studio pierrott fixed up for marketing they took the timeline of events of the original Hiden novels that was produce for the Naruto project the typed on all the other novels as they were released. It is an official canon timeline, but a timeline of when the novels were released instead of when they happend in the canon continuum. Kishimoto nor Ikemoto were involved in the writing of Retsuden hence why it doesn't fit into the canon timeline and why there are inconsistences with other novels cause neither of the writers in charge of writing Naruto/Boruto canon are involved.

How would you have written Orochimaru and Sasuke's relationship post-war? It's such a wasted potential considering the sannin x team7 master-mentor relationship were relevant throughout the series. Current Sasuke seem to treat orochimaru as his walking library of knowledge and that's about it.
Tumblr media
Orochimaru and Sasuke’s relationship is just one of the many wrong post war things.
(antiending, some antinaruto, deal with it)
I actually liked their interactions in Sasuke Shinden, more than those in Gaiden. Shinden Sasuke is broken and lonely, his pain is tangible, but despite the brainwashing and the guilt they instilled in him there are still glimpses of his pure and honest self in the way he tells Orochimaru that he came to him because he knows everything (a praise delivered as a fact because to him it is a fact not a praise), or how he interrupts that hippie guy talking to ask if Itachi knew about those facts I completely forgot (btw I haven’t read the book so I’m referring to the anime), or in the way he interacts with Team Taka (almost, as they were already been dismissed by kishi and whomever wrote the books and SP). I didn’t like how Orochimaru treats Sasuke as if he’s a selfish person who doesn’t care about others, I really hate that, and I hate that it seems Shinden’s underlying theme, because of kishi and SP shitty writing.
Instead in Gaiden he’s completely dead inside, with occasional glimpses of bitterness at least in the beginning, before kishi tried to turn the later chapters into something positive, failing btw.
Team7/sannin parallels were forgotten because kishi decided to focus on next gen shit. It’s not just Sasuke, in fact he is the one who treats his mentor better, at least he acknowledges as the one who knows everything. S*kura completely forgot about Tsunade, and N*ruto lost Jiraiya already, but he was very close to Tsunade too so you’d think she would have stayed relevant somehow. But it’s part of N*ruto’s inconsistencies (of most shounen manga tbh) to dismiss characters the author doesn’t need anymore, regardless of their actual importance. In universe it looks like N*ruto is quick to forget about “friends” as individuals, despite he’s fast at painting group images of Konoha as a family or whatever. So just like he forgets Tsunade (I think in some book he even said nasty things about her being a drunkard or whatever) he treats Orochimaru like shit, which might make sense since he experimented on people, killed the Third Hokage and more. What doesn’t make sense is that he’s the Hokage so he could arrest him, kill him or whatever. Instead, just like Kakashi before him, they let him go on with his life and experiments, and send spies to control him. Well. Spies missed him experimenting on those gaiden clones but ok.
Orochimaru in Sasuke Shinden explained his treatment as Konoha needing them for their dirty jobs, he even said it’s the same for Sasuke (as if they’re the same kind of person, but I won’t even comment this because I did it already and it’s part of postending shitty writing) so.
What’s even more outrageous is how N*ruto treats Team Taka, like the worst useless people ever, when they’re SAsuke’s precious comrades, who stood by him when no one else had.
But I digressed. I don’t like when Sasuke is portrayed negatively, no matter the context, also because if readers actually read the manga they see that every other character has a worse attitude and did worse things than him.
How I’d have written their post war relatioship? In a similar way to how their reunion was written, with Orochimaru being less creepy and more mentor-like, willing to listen to him, explaining him stuff and providing him with support whatever his cause, completely loyal to him, and still interested in him, because a little Oro creepyness is part of his personality. I’d write Sasuke interested in what Orochimaru explains him, as he acknowledged his strength and knowledge in canon as well, and I’d have them talk, kinda like in Shinden, also about the Uchiha history, because Orochimaru knows everything, including Uchiha stuff that Sasuke has no way of knowing about otherwise, since the village swept them, their traditions, their history under the rug.
I’d have written Sasuke getting closer to him and Team Taka, who got closer to Orochimaru in the end, not in a fluffy “let’s forget about how badly Orochimaru tortured and manipulated them” but in a mature way, because Orochimaru did horrible things but they know Konoha’s fake goodness that hides and justifies the worst actions, and they see that Orochimaru is willing to change his ways now, accepting some punishment like home arrest or something (same for Kabuto btw) but also since he’s the one who knows everything and he’s one lucky guy, kinda getting away with a slight punishment instead of death, not because I don’t want to consider his crimes or I think he’s a nice guy, but because the system is shitty and this is one more proof, and I want this shitty system to make it so that Sasuke stays away from Konoha, the root of his suffering, and closer to his real comrades, Team Taka.
