thank u for the ask!! and thank u for reading i’m so glad you like it <3 i’ve actually thought abt this quite a bit!! the thing with collabs, is that either i could use an irl celebrity, or i could make a character a celebrity and make them work with nico—so here are my thoughts on both options:

1) a real celebrity - i try to stay away from involving real life people in the fic, as in interactions, because i don’t know any of those people irl and i would hate to, like, mischaracterize someone or write positively abt someone who eventually gets revealed to be like a shitty person, yk? the most i’ve ever done, i think, is that one time i mentioned nico taking a picture with lorde - but even then, it wasn’t him talking abt her, it was just a picture that was posted. that, and the absurd amount of taylor swift name drops that i have, which i will never stop😭

basically, though i have considered it (my mind is literally CONSTANTLY imagine collabs of nico and other celebs/other songs), i literally have a playlist of them, i don’t think i would ever include it in the fic. simply bc of the concerns mentioned above :/

(however, i would like everyone to know that ive been imagining nico as a surprise guest on the rep tour, and having him featured on rep tv, for like- literally as long as ive had this au in my head. ill never write him collating with taylor (bc again idk i just feel strange writing abt real ppl) but in my head, it’s canon)

2) creating a new celeb - this one is hard, pretty much bc i’m… out of characters.

like, i still HAVE characters to use, but i already have plans for most of them and a majority of them aren’t actually part of the music industry. i could justify a collab between alex and nico bc she’s like the only music person i have written, but i also don’t wanna force that

if i ever do, which i doubt, bc i don’t have any plans to at the moment, it’ll be a pjo character, i just don’t have any idea of who that would be :/

oh and! last reason why i’m hesitant to add a collab - i feel like nico writing music is so engrained with him working with apollo as a producer, and their studio dynamic. obviously, it’s good to step out of your comfort zone, but i think that it’s also some sense of caution and comfort between them, that they’re the same people who will work on every nico di angelo song and album.

either way, i have seven albums outlined in total. the time span of greatest of luxuries goes from 2018-2024. that may be subject to change, but im feeling pretty confident abt it (it used to be 2028 btw😭) and anything PAST that time range is completely up to the reader!! i have lots of ideas of what could happen beyond that seventh album, and i have an idea (and a playlist) of the eighth album, but i can definitely imagine a lot of features in the future as he branches out. (and also him on rep tv. or ttpd. will update when ttpd comes out if i think there’s a specific song he’d slay as a feature on)

and lastly, for features. yes. he is on the hunger games tbosas soundtrack bc i say so‼️

(i imagine yellow flicker beat by lorde, even tho that was written for mockingjay, i just feel like it fits his vibe, but also, can’t catch me now works perfectly too)

1. Why did you choose this url?

its sort of like a pun between yall dont know and the fact that, hopefully, sincerely, chanyeol does not in fact know that i run this blog lmao i changed to this after a long time of being bread-jinie and i wanted to rebrand. i will, however, do my best to never change URLs again because the masterlist switch over was a complete hassle

2. Any sideblogs? If you have them, name them and why you have them

i have a fic recs blog called @yeoldontknowiread. as to why i have it, i know it hasnt been updated in ages since ive been kind of on hiatus, but i think reading and sharing work on this platform is immensely important. i actually read quite a lot of fanfiction, and i try my best to share the things i read. im very very behind on recs at the moment cause i try my best to write something substantial for every recommendation i make. as a writer, i know exactly the kinds of thoughts and feedback on fics that make my heart soar so i try to put in the same energy to my recs. community is only fostered when there is reciprocation

3. How long have you been on Tumblr?

hmmm since april 2017. i actually had my 4 year anniversary this year and i did have plans for things but i got roped into real life things and couldnt celebrate the way i truly wanted to :(

4. Do you have a queue tag?

no but sometimes i think i should. i view tags as a library on top of my knee jerk response to things. most of my tags are just my initial thoughts or feelings at any given moment, so those take precedence over a specific queue tag

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

when i was getting into exo, i was reading fanfiction like crazy. i used to write fanfic quite a lot in other fandoms, but at that time i hadnt written anything in about 2.5 years. exo was the first re-introduction to that feeling of excitement and inspiration. after about 3 weeks of straight reading, i decided i wanted to write again. i wrote the prologue to hero in about two hours and tried logging into AO3 to post it. sadly i forgot all of my log in information because it had been years, and was getting frustrated. i really wanted to put it somewhere out of fear that id lose interest if i didnt do something with it, and everything id read had been on tumblr. so i made a tumblr just to put hero lmao i didnt have any mutuals. it was a blog with straight 0. i hadnt even created an account to interact with writers before that moment, i really thought id be a silent reader forever. but exo woke me back up and for that i am eternally grateful.

6. Why did you choose your icon?

the yours music video is...so stunning? like the colour theory throughout the whole thing is truly so inspiring and gorgeous. and this shot of chanyeol looking at the painting took my breath away, truly. tulips and the color of peach, like do you know how evocative that is? ugh

7. Why did you choose your header

my header was made by @jamaisjoons for my birthday this year because shes literally the most talented person when it comes to graphics. and this was so kind of her to do, i cried a lot

8. What's your post with the most notes?

uhm....either the body through time or truth i cant remember which but i checked recently and its one of those

9. How many mutuals do you have?

honestly at this point im not even sure. i know ive lost a bunch while i was on hiatus because i was basically a dead blog, and some people do dash cleanses. and im certain others have left, too, for their own reasons. still, i have a good core of friends though who are active and that is enough for me

uhm i guess? there was a time when nng was not updated and every wednesday id post the days go by music video in sadness and grief but im not a big shitposter. if i make a text post its usually a life update or me crying about chanyeol, theres no inbetween lmao

tbh i havent used tumblr that often, not since march i think. i used to use it many times a day, checking in on friends and stuff, but once i started focusing on my phd applications i was only here sporadically. i didnt make an announcement either, just let my blog run on queue so i wasnt totally gone. i think i was checking in twice a week or maybe once every two weeks to refill my queue and check mentions etc. but now that my interviews are done im trying to get back on here daily to reconnect

14. Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once? Who won?

ive had my share of disagreements with people and any details about those situations shall remain as they are meant to: private

15. How do you feel about "you need to reblog this" posts?

in what context? like, you need to reblog this or your wish wont come true? or like, please reblog this to spread the word/spread awareness, etc? in the case for the former, i scroll right by. in the case of the latter, if im around and see someone raising a go fund me or some major event is occurring and i find a post with good sources or charities i will reblog. mostly though, the full extent my activism isnt really on this blog. its my escape from reality. my activism is usually placed on other platforms.

16. Do you like tag games?

i doooo!!! theyre so fun i love learning about my friends

17. do you like ask games?

i love those too! theyre so cute and usually a nice way to have interaction immediacy with people in the community

no one. can we please abandon this notion of fame on tumblr? arent we all here to write about some dick and some smut and some fluff and then hang out together and log off? lmao tumblr isnt reality and followers/fame is so arbitrary on this platform, no one has any control over any of it

Daniel Clowes: Trump’s America is like the cynical comics I drew back in the 90s

As the comic writers fantastically misanthropic work Wilson hits cinema screens he talks about grief, Ghost World and surviving in Trumpland

Hey, Daniel. What was it like making a movie without Terry Zwigoff, who directed Ghost World and Art School Confidential, but isnt in charge for Wilson?

With Terry, I was very much there the whole time in kind of a Coen brothers-ish scenario. We were bouncing ideas off each other and it felt fairly collaborative for this one, I had decided I really had not enjoyed that process. I really like hanging out with Terry, we have fun together, but the actual process of making the movies was not at all fun for me. After the last one I thought, you know what, Im just going to do what I do, write the script, hand it off and see what happens. My whole goal with this one was not to even see it until it came out in the theater.

So you didnt have much interaction with the actual film crew this time around?

We visited. My wife and I went to the set for two days and watched and it was great fun. I actually much prefer this situation because I got to see it through un-jaundiced eyes; to just sit and have that experience of watching it as a film rather than having seen every scene shot over and over. When you see a movie like that, you just remember what day it was and where you were standing. To this day, when I watch Ghost World, I think: Oh, yeah, I was in a corner of the room and the producers cellphone went off and ruined the take.

That sounds awful.

Yeah, and its funny when youre there the whole time, people just treat you with utter contempt. Whats the writer doing here? When you go for two days, youre a celebrity. The director said, Oh, everybodys very nervous! That was much preferable.

You drew the graphic novel around the time your father was dying, and Wilsons father dies in the book. How much of it is autobiographical?

I began writing it when he was in the hospital, on his literal deathbed. He never got to see any of it. When I first began it was just something to keep my mind occupied while I was sitting in the hospital room with him. He was very much like Wilsons dad, where he was just tuned out. He was clearly in his own head trying to process what was going on. I sort of expected that he would try to impart some, you know, final wisdom to his son, but he had no interest in that whatsoever. He was really just thinking about bigger things that I couldnt comprehend.

Thats a moment in the book, isnt it?

Yeah, it was a surprising moment in life and it was one of those things where wed always had that kind of strained relationship where we never talked about anything deep or emotional. And I was waiting for that kind of my whole life. When hes dying, hell finally summon the courage to talk to me in that way! and that just didnt ever happen. That was very surprising, in a way. Even though it makes perfect sense: there was always this feeling that we had this unspoken thing between us, and now I realize maybe that thing cant be put into words. Maybe thats how it takes form – as an unspoken thing.

Is it difficult to see somebody else living this thing thats so personal to you?

Well, thats happened several times. In Ghost World there were things that were very personal. It only feels weird when I start to think about what the scene represents. And then it feels very, very weird, to have these moments from your life transmitted to a general audience. You feel very vulnerable in a certain way.

Most people arent alive to see their own biopics.

It has that feeling, a little bit. And its probably as off from my vision of that scene as much as a biopic would feel if Ray Charles were to watch his own biopic. You go, Thats not quite how it happened!

What comics are you enjoying at the moment?

That Emil Ferris book is pretty hard to top right now. I like Simon Hanselmann a lot, I think hes endlessly funny. [The humor in] his stuff is very rare right now. Theres a guy, Noah Van Sciver, who I really like. I get something out of everything, good or bad. A lot of things I like just the way they look. I start to read and I cant get past one panel of reading and my eyes just stop and shut down, but I can look through and marvel at the way things look. [With Nick Drnaso in his book Beverly,] theres somebody for whom writing is first and foremost, and thats something you really dont see now, especially in [graphic] fiction.

What are you working on now?

I am actually writing a comic, which I had fairly well thought-out until Trump won the election, and that kind of threw everything off. Its not a political comic, really, but it was definitely begun with the thought that we were going to have a sane democracy continuing in place and not whats going on. So now Im rethinking it with the knowledge that Im going to have this craziness running through my head for the next four years.

How do you do that?

Well, its hard. With a normal fiasco like George W Bush, I would just let it seep in and see what comes out. But this feels so different. It feels like an opportunity to do something at least personally cathartic, if not, you know, meaningful or that has some kind of density to it based on the craziness of whats going on. I almost feel like I created the world we live in, back in my early comics. It really feels like the dopiest, most cynical comics I drew back in 1991 have just come to fruition. I dont know where that leaves me.

Do you think the election has had an impact on how certain work is seen?

Its funny; I went through that once, when the Ghost World movie came out. It was in the theater on 9/11 and it was rising in the theater. We were ready to expand to more screens and it was kind of catching on. And after that happened, even I didnt give a shit anymore. I was like, Who cares about the problems of two suburban teenage girls? Its a very different world! And thats what this feels like. But also its so easy just to do Down with Trump!, you know? So I dont want to do that. Its got to be filtered through something that makes it more timeless. So well see. Hell be long-ago impeached by the time Ive finished drawing it. Either that or were be printing it on our own Gutenberg presses.

Itll just be samizdat.
