I do find it really fascinating, per Marisha's statement at ECCC, that she interpreted Laudna holding onto Imogen during the flare as "literally, physically holding her back." Having now seen the moment, it's obvious that a) Marisha is thinking about this as the moment happens, and b) that Laura seems to be interpreting the event rather differently. Laudna is clinging onto Imogen and looks worried as she tries to keep her close. Meanwhile, Laura seems to just use it as an opportunity for Imogen to reach out to Laudna for an embrace.
Laudna perceiving the moment as "holding Imogen back" is interesting for a couple reasons, but first: because the power Imogen is getting from these flares is not necessarily a good thing. Yes, it is good for them to have currently because it makes Imogen (and Fearne) stronger. But also, gaining strength in her powers, reveling in the joy of floating into a flare, feeling at home and welcomed by Predathos' embrace--those are causes for concern, which Laura confirmed on the panel as well (i.e. her discussion of Imogen's increasing desire to give in to Predathos). But it does pair perfectly with the ideological track Laudna seems to be on, as she willingly feeds Delilah to gain power, that something that isn't good, per se, can still be plenty beneficial. Her stated willingness to stay by Imogen even if she does give into Predathos, her questioning whether Predathos is Imogen's ultimate destiny--those things feel very at home with where Laudna is standing mentally right now.
It's also, however, somewhat at odds with the defining trait of their relationship: tethering. That was the thematic crux of their relationship for a very long time, this idea that they could tether each other to something better than the forces trying to tear them apart, whether that be Imogen's Ruidian connections or Laudna's relationship with Deliah. What Laudna did for Imogen in that moment was quite literally tethering her. So the fact that Laudna felt negatively about the moment, that she was holding Imogen back instead of keeping her grounded, feels like a major shift in that conception of their relationship. It does also feel consistent with Laudna's perception of power and how much she wants Imogen to have it. How can you tether someone when you want them to be chasing power like that? Is your tether a noose or a lifeline? Because Laudna seems to be thinking of it as the former, but I'm not sure that's how Imogen sees it at all

I absolutely LOVE the Squirtle/Wartortle illustrations by kantaro in Pokemon 151!
The Squirtle jumping so joyfully from the rock into the ocean, the colors are STUNNING! I love the contrast of the Squirtle's aqua blue framed in the vivid orange sky, the soft bit of blue reflecting in its shell and its tail just catching the sun, how little and squishy its body looks as it launches itself towards the water with such tremendous excitement!
The lineless style of the background gives me the feel of a travel poster and I sense the tropical environment around it from the rocks and trees framing the corners, the waterfall splashing with as much energy as the Squirtle!
The layered blues on the surface of the water and the bubbles rising at the corner make me FEEL the liquid rising to meet the Squirtle--I can just feel how the next moment it's going to break through and be immersed in a cool island swim!
And the Wartortle running along the sunset beach, this is somehow everything I always imagined for Wartortle! I adore the way the rich purple melts into the warm red/orange sky, the matching purple clouds and shadows in the foreground, and how the dimming sunlight glows red on Wartortle's deep blues!
I love how the yellow and orange of the sky illuminate the lapping waves, I can just feel the gentle motion of the sea at dusk. The aqua color of the ocean matches Wartortle's ears and tail and sets off the red-orange sand, I just love how the colors are here!
Wartortle looks so round and squishy, I love its happiness as it goes frolicking through the shallows, chasing the bubbles caught in the setting sun! The shine and deep shadow on its shell give it an almost jewel texture like real tortoise shell; I love the silhouetted splash Wartortle leaves as it goes running across the shore. It's so full of energy and delight at the end of a gorgeous day!
The colors in these are SO vivid and harmonized and the style is so cute and bursting with energy and joy. I just LOVE it (also Squirtle is my starter)

[Start ID. A digital drawing of Minos Prime from Ultrakill, who's wearing a strapless slit dress and sandals of the same deep purple. He faces towards and slightly to the right of the camera, his head is tilted further right. With one hand he gestures in a vague pointing motion, his arm folded and held close to his body. There is nothing in the background, but bracing himself on one arm, Minos is implied to be leaning against something about the height of a countertop. The background is a blank purplish black, save for three diagonal stripes in the colors of the bisexual flag. End ID]
Shading study that quite literally came to me in a dream two weeks ago, after this post apparently beamed itself into my mind
(also a few edits below the cut! they're very slight but whatever :])
[Start ID. Three different versions of the previous drawing. The first changes the tone of the lighting from blue to pink, and similarly the shading from pink to blue. The second replaces the faint black border with pink, purple and blue, syncing with the stripes in the background. The third combines both these changes. End ID]

these are the fights i love, the ones where you watch all of the straw hats band together and they each have their own unique role in it. they all play to one another's strengths--harkening back to zoro's remark to chopper back in alabasta that each of them does what they can, and then says here you go, do what i can't to the next crew member. franky can't do this, but sanji can; sanji can't do that, but chopper can. and you watch these plans unfold with such minute communication too--there's no huddle in the middle of the battlefield, just watching some pairs break off and the rest of the crew being able to pick up their next moves with hardly missing a beat. it's not picking up one another's slack or playing a supporting role--it's just being part of a team, of a crew where they all rely on one another and willingly acknowledge that. it's not fighting one straw hat, it's fighting every single one of them, and they have every intention to win.

Kikuo's worthless child song makes me think about Minako and Kizuna quite a bit
Oh.
Ohhhhhhh nooooooo.
That huuuurts.
Minako caring for Kizuna but also being a toxic parent as she often puts her down in response to any sort of emotional outburst instead of trying to offer emotional support, and also just how she ends up passing her unrealistic and toxic expectations on beauty standards down to her because "that's all that matters for a girl." And by the end of the song, the child, now older, disappears (a.k.a. die in Kizuna's case) and the parent is left berating themselves for everything that's happened, wishing they can turn back time. But all Minako can do is live with the regrets of the past and the self-hatred that's left behind.
