I interact with a lot of blogs that ship destiel and that means I see a lot posts about that ship. I did filter it, but then since even Cas only content is sometimes tagged “destiel”, I had to remove my filters.

We know for the fandom destiel is about Dean and Dean only. I mean I have seen Cas comforts Dean after 14x20 fics. I don’t want to disrespect any writer but that had me seething.

Destiel is “Cas gives up his powers, his faith, his family, basically everything thing. Dean treats him like shit, yells at him” and the inference is OMG see how much Dean loves Cas and poor Cas can’t understand it. It’s the same, may it be in the fic or posts anout the show.

Like fans are so desperate, they cancel everything Cas did, they cancel his relationship with Jack, they cancel his wishes, they cancel his identity. They prefer Cas to be the plot device that is there to comfort dean and provide him whatever they feel like dean needs.

It makes navigating the fandom so hard, like I love these blogs, but I see these destiel posts, more often than I would like and its just makes me want to leave this place.

I do brush it off because everyone is entitled to their opinions and interpretation but my mental health is in such a dark place that I can’t do it right now. Which is why I am ranting here forgive me for that.

Feel free to rant. I know how it feels like. I can't take it either.

I think what makes it hard despite this understanding that "there is no right and wrong just other people craving different things than me" is just that destiel is so overwhelmingly majority that it feels like the default of how to experience SPN universe. Even someone as hardened as myself feel the need to constantly put disclaimers on my posts -- not exactly apologizing but warning people as if my opinion is toxic or something. But we are constantly exposed to what's toxic to us and just have to live with it. Goes with being a minority opinion, I guess.

It's kind of like going to an all-you-can eat buffet and it's the only place I can get food. I am surrounded by an ocean of people who are gorging themselves with trays of moldy cheese and delirious with tears of joy. I find moldy cheese disgusting, and have to hold my breath constantly to avoid the odor, but I understand that moldy cheese is a valued delicacy in some cultures, and these people are the main customers of this business. Still needing to eat, I scrounge up some berries and nuts in the corners, not all in great condition, but I eagerly pile them into my plate. Yet it's hard to enjoy them with the constant stench of cheese in the air.

But then I meet one or two fellow diners in search of berries and nuts, whose scowls on their faces I recognize. And they listen to me rant about the cheese. And they tell me about the other corner where they found some honey that would go so well with the berries. And they drew me a picture of some imaginary berries that are fresh and ripe and so delicious looking. And I think maybe I'll stay in this place a little longer.

the sheer number of female characters in orv and the depth of every single one of them is rapidly ruining me for 90% of media. here i am just bopping along not even realizing how resigned i am to a 3:1 ratio of men to women in most media and then orv hits me like a freight train. like okay now i have standards. everybody else get on this level.

#i'm trying to think what it is about it because i *do* read/watch media that features lots of women. it's not just all dudes!#i think it's related to how they're all completely different people. they're not cookie cutter #and they're not just clones of each other with the numbers sanded off (han sooyoung notwithstanding lol)#or idk. like tmbd has lots of women and nb folks. but. though i appreciate how much gender diversity there is in those books #there's something about it that feels very deliberate. which isn't bad per se - it's good to know the author #cares enough about it to go to an effort - but it comes across as kind of clumsy sometimes?#whereas in orv there's just a lot of really well realized characters and oh hey at least half of them are women #it feels organic and effortless. idk if it actually was organic and effortless but that's the effect it gives #plus the fact that it seems the authors of orv never met a guy character that they didn't go #'he seems like he could be a girl under the right circumstances' about #orv #my posts

#one of my fave ideas but i keep getting stuck or starting over. third time's the charm hopefully #anyways. posting it as an excuse to rant because i'm losing my mind over this rn for no reason #incoherent but i just need to Talk or my brain won't shut up #you ever think about how fucked up it is that aoi feels guilty over what happened. i do. i think about her a lot #he can't even look at me. we aren't even blood related but he still had to go to jail because of me. i still love him #in reality none of it is her fault. it shouldn't be about doumeki in the first place. baby girl you were 15 when it happened.#you can say that yashiro is cruel in his dismissiveness (on the surface) of doumeki's trauma but you can see where he's coming from #you got a glimpse of what your sister was going through? of what i went through? and now you're sooo guilty over it? and who does it help?#doumeki's so focused on his own feelings that he ignored aoi when they were living together. “saves” her by pure chance #proceeds to focus on his guilt and ignore her again. if yashiro didn't get involved she'd be sitting in the rain for god knows how long #yet she still loves and to some degree idolizes him #yashiro and aoi both saying that doumeki isn't the type of person to be a yakuza too. doumeki's good doumeki's better than that #and then ch 24 happens. where yashiro says that he's going to throw up and doumeki's response is “i probably won't stop even if you do”#“guess i am like my father after all” and yashiro still goes “you're not. you're pure and im the problem”#(touches doumeki's face. rare gentle gesture. he's gentle afterwards too before leaving. man.)#he's not cruel enough to repeat what he said in the earlier conversation and he doesn't actually believe it anyway #but i wish yashiro was cruel there. it shouldn't have been about doumeki and his feelings. again.#something about yashiro throwing a knife at another person and it flying back at him huh #for all the talk about how doumeki supposedly romanticizes yashiro it really is the other way around. always has been #which is a whole other conversation but yeah. everything about aoi and yashiro in relation to doumeki makes me so fucking sad #but this is also what i mean when i say that aoi doesn't haunt the narrative per se but still has this weird presence?#she's in the parallels. she's in the brief but important mentions. she's in the “your sister was lucky she had you”.#wips tag

ALSO adding on to my last post I have seen a bunch of people around all social media say things about the state of shoujo anime in recent years all along the lines of saying there are less shoujo anime bc women's perspectives and stories are viewed as less profitable than shounen and that's probably not untrue in terms of executive's reasoning but also every time there is a shoujo anime made literally all I ever see people talk about are the guy romantic partners and if anyone says anything about liking the woman main character it's always through the filter of saying things like aww the guy loves her so much and it's like. The girls on the shows aren't talking to each other about anything but men the audience isn't talking about anything but men etc. You want women's perspectives. But the only perspective you want is to only keep talking about liking men.

#and i guess i should add the qualifier here that i am talking about shoujo romance bc it is a really broad category #and not saying shonen romances are perfect even though again shonen is a really broad qualifier and a lot of shonen romances are written...#...by women. but there are a lot of romances in shonen where the girl characters are THE focus and they all get a bad reputation for...#...~the male gaze~ and um at some points you guys are just using that to never talk about a woman ever more than you care about how men...#...view women per se. someone will get me.#stuff like the apothecary diaries i saw a fair amount of people really lovr maomao and i was surprised by how much attention a female...#...character was getting in the broadest anime circles but also 90% of posts about her in the tag here at least are through the filter of..#...talking about how much jinshi loves her or for every sentence i see about maomao there are still ten about the guy #and the romance isn't even the most prominent factor in that story from what the anime has shown of it #like. it's both frustrating that the mass public only wants to talk about really specific kinds of girls or they go completely out of...#...their way to never talk about girls under the guise of caring about girls's stories?

Talking a little bit about 'boycotting Eurovision' under Keep Reading, feel free to scroll down if is not what you want to see.

The most used argument on the matter of banning Israel from Eurovision is the fact that Russia got banned from Eurovision, which is the worst argument anyone could bring.

Kindly reminder that Russia didn't get banned because of the war with Ukraine. Russia got banned because many countries has threatened to withdraw from the competition. Sadly, that's a big difference.

Yes, the countries has threatened to withdraw because they support Ukraine and see Russia as the party in the wrong. That was their reason. EBU's reason for banning Russian was because those countries threatened to withdraw, not because the war was bad and Russia must be stopped.

This situation isn't the same. Why? Because many countries support Israel in their genocide. Because this time around Palestine is the party in the wrong. Because we're taught to believe that Israel isn't in the wrong here.**

Boycotting Eurovision won't work. There are people out there who don't know the truth and want to watch Eurovision. There are people out there who don't care and will watch Eurovision regardless of the situation. There are people out there who, despite having the facts, still don't see Israel as the bad guy in this situation and will watch Eurovision. Sadly, boycotting won't work unless everyone does it.

The only way Israel will get banned, in my opinion, is by going through the same thing as Russia. If other countries threatened to withdraw- and not any countries, but the ones investing the most in Eurovision, then yes. That will get Israel banned.

Otherwise? The only thing we do is hurt artists that don't deserve it. Artists who use Eurovision as a way to get more exposure and experience. Artists who deserve to be heard.

Don't vote for Israel's entry. Don't stream their song either. Heck, turn off the TV when is their turn to perform.

**This whole situation (the war, not Eurovision) isn't only black and white. Civilians die daily because of this, all of them from both sides. Innocent people who has no fault. Let's not forget that

#Honestly I'm tired of the whole 'Russia got banned Israel should be banned too' speech because is truly bullshit #It has nothing to do with the war per se. It was because countries were unwilling to participate in support for Ukraine #If the whole situation was truly political then other countries wouldn't be able to participate either #Is it fair? Eurovision has never been fair #We always get annoyed over it and trash talk it then watch it the next year #Also this is not the same as boycotting brands and shit like that who support Israel. Lost my original post of this from the other day but I genuinely don't understand how Black Butler discourse ever shifted into the does Sebastian ~really~ like Ciel or is Ciel just dinner line of conversation that is pervasive as it is because Sebastian is the one that has absorbed his whole existence into Ciel's. Sebastian's face is what Ciel wants Sebastian's whole purpose is doing things for Ciel Sebastian's every hell of a butler yes my lord speech is about how he's Ciel's and Ciel is the one going around saying shit like whatever Sebastian is just my pawn 💅
