You know, going back in time, they thought it would be easy. Stop the end of the world by preventing the Being from well, coming into being. It should be easy to take them out, one death to prevent an untold amount of them. What could a child do?

They really should have remembered that with a child usually comes their parent as well. And erm, said parent doesn’t seem to appreciate their logic. In fact, they are… getting their ass kicked. By a civilian. A feral civilian who apparently is very protective of said child-who-ends-up-destroying-the-world.

Maybe I'll make a post on this at some point but like, something deeply fucked up about TNP and Po3 that people have totally forgotten about is how badly they try to whine that "Tigerstar Had Good Traits :("

Firestar does it, Brambleclaw does it, and they keep doing this after it becomes this GRAND irony that Firestar almost gets Tiger'd to death in a fox trap because he was too trusting. Bramble gets his pity award of keeping deputyship and then cries to his son about how No One Saw The Good In Tigerstar :(

And it's wiiiiild that no one else in this fandom has done anything with the fact that Leopardstar broke the Warrior Code to appoint Hawkfrost, who had no apprentice, an extremely aggressive and warmongering Tigerclone who says things like "Tigerstar wasn't the worst cat to look up to." ONLY qualifying trait was being kinda like Tigerstar.

And she practically did that the SECOND Mistyfoot went missing. And then Leopardstar continued to be one of the most violent and xenophobic leaders through Po3, joining with WindClan to attack ThunderClan.

What I'm getting at is that like, a few years ago, with books like "Blackfoot's Reckoning" and "Shadow in RiverClan" it's like they suddenly decided to retcon in a bunch of "redemption arcs" in hindsight. They just pretended like there was this grand high reckoning with TigerClan, when there literally wasn't, and if anything that caused SERIOUS problems for the cast that the authors didn't fully acknowledge as such.

And now ppl haven't actually read the main series and are just working with their recent memory of all these retcon books.

But TNP and PO3 are still there, and you can go and see the ACTUAL timeline where Leopardstar is really not apologetic at all, and Blackstar is a useful stooge for the very next wannabe dictator that strolls in, in spite of the new side content that COMPLETELY mischaracterized them for their plots to work.

If sun wukong managed to get the golden fillet off his head during the journey what would happen in your opinion? Like, would he immediately fuck off back to flower fruit mountain, go on a murderous rampage with his newfound freedom or would there be a touching moment between the group where he choses to stay on the journey (showing his growth as a character and how he choses to better himself without having be forced to do so),

Also how would the rest of the group react? I imagine they’re all probably terrified cause what if he choses to get vengeance for being forced into a journey and punished for things he doesn’t care about ect

I suppose the answer to this does all rely on WHEN that happens... Wukong does eventually become a better person, or.. monkey. But me personally, I do greatly prefer dealing in "early Monkey" hehe.

the kind of Wukong i love is the one that is perfectly happy being very manipulative, lulling Tripitaka into a false sense of security just so he can escape and be free to be as dangerous and crazy as he wants.

The rest of the group? You bet Pigsy and Sandy would see straight through him. The only thing keeping everyone safe at that point is Wukong keeping that headband on. But Tripitaka, bless this poor priest's heart, is still too young and naive- far too trusting.

I’m personally hoping that they don’t kill him this time and actually TRY to give him some form of redemption. But that’s probably asking for too much.

NO YEAH SAME HERE 😭 I think it would be a huge win for all the Eclipse enjoyers if the main cast actually decided to take the time to care and accommodate for him because I would absolutely kill to see Eclipse go down the messy, pain-filled path of "to be loved is to be changed" instead of just being murdered on the spot 💔

"Eclipse doesn't deserve redempt–"

A redemption arc might actually be the best approach here. And before you say anything, I didn't reach this conclusion because "I want my bby redeemed 'cos I wuv him so much uwu!" No, I'm an Eclipse fan who was on board with the showrunners killing him off twice.

I don't care about "deserve" — that's a dumb way of looking at redemption arcs. How about this instead: Is Eclipse capable of redemption? Would it serve his character well? I think that's a yes on both accounts. They've already killed him off two times. As such, the showrunners need to try something different with Eclipse this time around, or they'll just be rehashing old material. Keep him from getting stale, please. Regarding the former, he's not beyond redemption. What made him irredeemable was his own pigheaded obstinance, not an inherent lack of capability. He can evolve as a character; we already saw this happen in the show's third arc, why not take it further?

So yeah, a redemption arc would be new territory for Eclipse's character, and much more interesting than killing him off a third time.

Spoilers for newest LAES episode ahead⚠️

This right here. This I what I have wanted to be acknowledged for so long and it has been. I kept replaying it because I couldn’t believe it finally happened. Even if Eclipse didn’t hear it, I’m still so glad it was finally acknowledged, especially since it was by Moon himself.

This episode has given me such a big mix of emotions and hope that maybe a redemption for Eclipse is actually a possibility the writers will go for. Both Moon and Earth in their own respective ways have shown care for Eclipse, Moon even bothering with dragging Eclipse to therapy proves that he cares in some way for him.

I really hope that this is the start of some kind of redemption arc for Eclipse because in my honest opinion I believe it’s what he deserves and what he’s deserved for awhile now.

And while I’m still not happy with lots of stuff New Moon has done in the past, I think recently he’s been actively trying to do better and I think this episode only proves that. I just hope this good streak continues, for both Moon and Eclipse.
