DRv3 Revival!AU

So here's an idea I had, it’s a DRv3 Post Game AU

(Spoilers for ch6 and minor part in ch3 v3)

After the academy collapses, Maki, Shuichi, and Himiko basically go around the place seeing what's left.

Under some of the rocks they find the book from chapter 3, and I can't remember what it was about but let's act like it talks about bringing back the dead in it somewhere.

While reading it they accidentally bring back Rantaro from the dead, and then decide to bring back everyone else as well.

They're not fully alive, they still have the scars and reminents that represent their deaths and all that, as well as what happened to them throuhhout. But they're physically there, conscious, and back to 'normal'

So all together they 'rebuild the academy'.. in their own way. They turn it into a place all of them can live in together, using reminents of the labs, pool, and whatever else.

(I'm not purposely saying reminents, but pun intended)

It takes a couple of months to get it together, but it's easy to manage because they don't have to grow as much food.

Only Maki, Shuichi, and Himiko need to consume food. And they're also technically the only ones that need sleep, it won't kill the others but it still affects them. However out of everyone Kokichi and Tsumugi are effected by not sleep the most, possibly even more than Maki, Himiko, and Shuichi.

I'll work on designs later, but here's some basic notes:

Oh wow, this opening to Danganronpa S is super trippy. I'm honestly not sure if this is supposed to be an alternate reality where none of the events of the original series happened, or if something else is going on.

Or it's possible that nothing's going on. This is one of those collect-em-all type of games, so there could literally be no explanation because the plot isn't what people are here for.

Like. The Ultra Despair Girls cast is all here, and they know each other even though there's not really a reason for them to. Nagito points out that Reserve Course Hajime shouldn't be here but he gets to be because of his "connections", whatever that means.

Chiaki exists, but that might be because the DG3 anime retconned a real Chiaki into existence. But Usami also exists so, no, I think this is actually supposed to be AI Chiaki.

That the V3 crew is here too is, at once, mind-blowing yet also indicative of the "nothing is going on, there is no explanation, just sit back and enjoy the crossover" explanation.

Like, setting aside the meta ending where these characters don't exist and Danganronpa is just fiction, in the fiction of Danganronpa, these students attended the reconstructed Hope's Peak after Makoto became Headmaster in the DG3 anime.

But that's kinda what's blowing my mind because, like, the meta ending to V3 also wraps up by suggesting that the meta story itself could be a lie. The whole "Danganronpa is a work of fiction thing" itself gets challenged as yet another layer of deception in the post-credits scene.

So if the real story of V3 is fiction but the meta story is itself a falsehood, then the real backstory to V3 is a total enigma. These kids might actually have gone to school with Makoto, Hajime, and the others. V3's killing game could take place at any point after the Jabberwock simulation, because everything we know is lies and nothing is true.

Or they might not have.

Because. Like. The opening to DG S clearly indicates that we're in the Jabberwock simulation. Everyone's talking about entering the simulation but we might just already be in it. Which would not only explain how AI Chiaki and Usami can be here, but would also explain the presence of the Ultra Despair Girls crew and the V3 kids.

Maybe nobody's actually here, and everyone is an Alter Ego reconstruction of a person from the Hope's Peak files.

Man, I am way overthinking this goofy little Excuse Plot for a big crossover fun-times.

okay, so the killing game takes place in the same universe as my first two swaps, set about 7-ish years in the future. the v3 cast are all kids who came of age in a post-tragedy world, and a lot of their formative years were spent in a despair apocalypse which is . fun! anyway, they all work at the future foundation as interns, with kaede and shuichi (who are like. 19, two years older than the rest of them) being the ones training and supervising them.

shuichi and kaede grew up together during the despair apocalypse, and the two of them fell into despair together during those years, with shuichi idolizing kyoko and kaede idolizing mukuro. anyway, they get to know the interns, and the interns trust them with a lot of personal shit, which they then use to craft false backstories for their killing game. these backstories are the reason they use the neo-world technology (which they have access to, since they work for the ff) rather than create a physical killing game. they genuinely like and care about the interns, and see the killing game as a way to give the gift of despair to them. except a) they completely misunderstand a lot of the interns’ passions, thoughts, and motivations (maki does not really want the ability to turn off her emotions, kaede, she’s just extremely traumatized and has no idea how to deal with being a person but doesn’t know how to articulate that), and b) shuichi and kaede, as much as they try to be, aren’t kyoko and mukuro. they don’t really Want despair, they just convinced themselves that they did to cope (they misunderstand their own motives the same way that they misunderstand the interns). anyway, the postgame does lead to slow, slow shuichi and kaede redemption at the hands of the thh survivors (particularly those who have guilt over not being able to save kyoko and mukuro *cough junko cough*) and the remnants, who get what it’s like to buy into despair. the v3 cast absolutely ostracizes them (and rightfully so! they have no obligation to forgive the two of them, and while i feel like the majority of them eventually do, it’s not ever like. the same, i feel like). anyway. that’s the major strokes. their ultimates are crafted for the killing game, and their roles either exacerbate issues they already had (maki and tsumugi are great examples of this) or give them brand new ones on top of their old ones (tenko and kaito)!

also important to note is that a lot of them grew up together in the despair apocalypse. kaito and tenko are siblings because i said so, and eventually, they met kokichi, and kaito (much to both tenko and kokichi’s protests) dragged kokichi along with them. angie and rantaro also lived on a boat together for years. and a few years predespair, miu and kokichi went to the same jewish preschool, also because i said so. anyway, all of these connections are forgotten in the simulation, which is especially fun with kaito, tenko and kokichi, since i’m pretty sure i’m going to have it so that none of them like each other.

also, since angie has no need to forget her talent since she’s just the adventurer and not the survivor, and because shuichi and kaede are copycat masterminds, they give miu the missing memories of her talent. the lack of detective title to back up her claims, combined with miu’s unconventional detecting methods, vulgarity, and her inability to really articulate her thought processes, lead to her being dismissed by the rest of the cast, especially in early trials. her arc as a protagonist is about gaining the respect of everyone else, as she consistently pieces together cases correctly. kirumi (who is her rival) is actually the one to figure out her talent first. anyway, the final trial has the remaining survivors as a completely united front, with miu taking charge. there’s definitely a part where kirumi turns to her and asks her to like . make the final case or something. this is a little off topic but i wanted to go into the significance of miu forgetting her talent DKSDLFSDJFLK anyway yeah. as always, feel free to drop some questions about any of this stuff <3 i WILL be rambling about it on my own though.

The Secret of the Outside World in DRV3 (part 2)

Link Part 1. 

There are some more details I wanna add, just to make this theory a little more sense.

So if you already read part 1, you’d have known that the structure of the Virtual World in Ch4 practically works pretty similar with the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles, and the key to solve the Secret of the Virtual World is the same with the Secret of the Outside World.

It’s called “New World Program”.

It is the program of the Future Foundation called “New World Program” that creates this world...

The Virtual World in both DRV3 and DR2 called “New World Program” or “Neo World Program” (ENG ver). And if the Ultimate Academy of DRV3 has the same functions with the Jabberwock Island of DR2 in some extent, I’d like to give a way to explain how the Realm between Reality and Fiction works in DRV3 (basing on my own vision of DR2).

Unlike the “New World Program” in DR2, which only has one motivation -- that is making the real world a better place and creating “Hope”. In V3, this program is used to make the world ‘the killing game simulator’ and creating “Despair” instead.

Since the “New World Program” specializes in Memory Substitution. The reason that the V3 cast being there is because of this program creating “Ultimate Real Fiction”, that possibly activates a memory control device and use the Blackout-Light to erase designated past memories. That must be how they had no memories of their school lives (Timeline B), so it’s like the first time they’d met as the Prologue 2nd shows. And this program is also used to overlay the memories of the participants of the Outside World with the past memories of the Ultimate-students, so it’s same as you erasing your former-selves completely to become one of the fictional Ultimate-characters.

As we know, ‘Jabberwock Island’ takes place in a computer program, which is literally a Fictional World. However, it is ambiguous that whether V3 killing game takes place in a computer program or not. Due to the fact that the place in V3 is a fine line between Fiction and Reality, and it is said that the participants were the inhabitants of the Outside World who obsessively over Danganronpa, and they willingly participated in the show with their real bodies. What I can say about this world is that there is literally a connection between Real World and Fictional World, and with the hands of the Ultimate Cosplayer, she is totally able to bring flesh-and-blood-fictions into real life, as same as easily reaching for another layer of reality (Ultimate talents aren’t jokes, huh). I guess the V3 Outside World holds some unknown technology that could recreate the real world into joining parts with the fictional world, as well as real people with fictional characters. Generally, V3 is neither fully a computer program nor a real world, it is just simply a realm between both worlds, that is all we can know.

And this V3 world is basically exactly like the Virtual World where anything could happen. So don’t be surprise if you can actually bring the dead back to life, according to the motive in Chapter 3, or even meteorites falling from the sky and only 16 Ultimate-highschoolers survived from the virus attack. Because it is fiction, everything happening in this world is merely a game.

Comparable to V3, I interpret that their bodies exist in the real world as the participants but the minds is completely occupied in the game world. So in other words, their real bodies have been rebuilt into the vessels for their new minds that inherently exist only in the game world after removing the minds of their original-selves and the memories of the school lives of the V3 Ultimates. Their bodies have become the vessels using the memories from before they entered Hope’s Peak Academy or even before the Tragedy causing by Junko happened, but their bodies in reality still belong to the participants of the real world. As Tsumugi says “The people you used to be are gone. You’re fictional characters now.” (Ch6). 

Again, the “New World Program” in DR2 is differ from V3. The DR2 kids were still survived after experiencing their deaths in the Virtual World (DR3 Hope Arc confirms this). Whereas, the deaths of the V3 Ultimates are real because their bodies are literally made from real blood and flesh, not just avatars. The bodies that truly exist in the real world with the fabricated minds though. So in V3 case, not only the bodies are dead but the minds too. 

Furthermore, the “New World Program” in DR2 is entirely limited to Jabberwock Island. In V3, this program is highly hinted towards the entire Danganronpa world. My best guess is that the entire Danganronpa world is totally in Junko’s palm all along, and the world was divided to make the half of it being fiction by some mean because her despair will never ever end.

If the “New World Program” in V3 is practically implied being the entire Danganronpa world, then there is a highly possibility that half of the real world that being Danganronpa is truly made into real fiction. Here is what I think about this world’s dividation :

- Half of the world is made to be falling in “Despair”, it is called Danganronpa world.

- The other half of it is full of “Hope” where no despair and war happen, the half that being peaceful so much that it needs a stimulation through “Despair”, because everybody lives in a very-hopeful world that feels too much boring.

The first half living in a despairful world that requires “Hope” and the second half living in a hopeful world that requires “Despair” to fix the balance. (Oh, I think I understand how the Secret of the Outside World of V3 truly works). 

So you have it, I believe this is the truth of the DRV3 world. Hope we can get a future explanation of this if there will be one.

Dangan Ronpa V3: Chapter 4 Deadly Life

Last time we saw a very familiar phrase in connection with the Virtual World, we turned into Funko Pops, and someone killed Miu. And considering how obvious suspects they are, it probably wasn’t Kaito or Kokichi. Kokichi definitely had something to do with it, but I don’t think he’s the actual blackened. Also, we cut away from him leaving the Virtual World before we could hear what he said into the telephone. Is it possible that his name is something other than what we’ve been told?

Miu’s body…her hands are clasped around her neck as if she was gasping for air. Her eyes are widen open in panic. It looked like she suffered. Kokichi agrees, though he’s rather gleeful about it.

Keebo was the first to log out. Miu was still wearing the helmet at the time, and her body was contorting into an awful position. Maki was the next one to log out. Keebo and Maki took off Miu’s helmet…and then, she was dead.

Monophanie is trying to get Monotaro to get a hold of himself, but Monotaro is too busy mourning his “mommy”.

Himiko never thought Miu would be killed. Even when her avatar had stopped moving, Himiko didn’t want to believe it. Himiko, Keebo, and Maki were together when they found Miu’s motionless avatar. Miu had split off to look around the outside of the chapel for clues, which is strange…as the search was finishing up, with nothing found, there was a noise. A loud noise, just like the one we heard at the mansion. The chapel vibrated as if something had hit it from the outside. But we heard the sound from the mansion, all the way across the other map.

Himiko, Maki, and Keebo rushed outside. Near the side of the chapel, Miu was lying motionless. And the group couldn’t check on her real body, because the signboard bridge was gone. Which means none of the chapel group could’ve logged out and done anything to Miu. Except, Tsumugi saw Miu near the mansion, which means that there was a way to get around…

Kokichi asks Gonta who he thinks the culprit is. He doesn’t know. He’s still deep in grief, and self-loathing over not being able to prevent this. Kokichi encourages him to help everyone find the culprit. Something weird happened between the two, I’m sure. Kokichi has some trick up his sleeve.

Kaito tries to explain things, despite Kokichi’s provocations. Right before he was logged out, when Kaito was on the rooftop, a circle lit up under him. He was sucked into it, and woke up in the computer room. The same thing that happened with the rest of us, except we were talking into the telephone, in the salon. Then, Kaito realized he was pretty tired, so he went to the dorms to sleep. This was at around dawn. Then the body discovery announcement woke him up and he rushed over here. He didn’t pay particular attention to everyone else when he woke up from the Virtual World, so he has no clues about Miu’s condition at the time. Kokichi seems delighted at this lackluster alibi.

Meanwhile, Maki is investigating the computer. She has no idea how the Virtual World program works, but she did find a text file on the computer. A text file with the basic features of the program. The Killing Game Simulator is based off of another program, called the Neo World Program. While this is the most intriguing part of the whole thing to me, the Ultimates have never heard of it, and don’t have any reason to think anything of it. In the Killing Game Simulator, objects can’t break. Your body’s senses are connected to your avatar, but the avatar cannot be harmed…any damage it takes will instead afflict the actual body in the real world. Which means if your avatar receives fatal damage, your body will die of shock. I just assumed it was the same as the Neo World Program, which is why I never noticed that Miu never directly told anyone that detail. Everything else about the Virtual World is the same, including the laws of physics. So you can’t warp places, or use special transportation like mounts. But that clearly contradicts what Tsumugi saw…

Kokichi wonders out loud if someone could have rewritten the text file to have incorrect information. But how would anyone determine that? Monotaro volunteers. In order to find out who killed his “mommy”, he’s gonna help us with the investigation. Monophanie tells him not to, but Monotaro brushes her off. Monotaro’s forgotten that Monophanie is someone he’s supposed to care about, and that he has no mother. Monophanie says there’s someone she needs to protect, and leaves. Shuichi has his doubts over the whole thing, but Kokichi bursts out the crocodile tears, forcing everyone to just let Monotaro do his thing. Monotaro gets to work right away. The text file wasn’t altered. Also, Monotaro found a file with the times of everyone logging in and out. This doesn’t look like it was altered either.

The file seems to be accurate. It has all of us logging in within a few minutes of each other, Kaito logging out before everyone else, and everyone else but Miu logging out one by one near 7 AM.

And one final thing. Some parts of the program were rewritten. Presumably by Miu. She did say she’d deleted weaponry and stuff…well, as long as Monotaro figures out just what was rewritten by the time the trial’s about to start, we’re good.

Kokichi is busy crying crocodile tears over how much Monotaro loved Miu and how he’ll never forgive whoever killed her, so we can safely ignore him.

Keebo’s still thinking about the secret of the outside world that we never found. Before we can get too far onto the topic, Kokichi provokes Keebo, and steers the conversation away from whatever the secret might be.

Tsumugi has had a bad feeling about this ever since seeing Miu from the dining hall window of the mansion. Kokichi once again prevents the conversation from progressing smoothly. He also asks Tsumugi what she did after she thought she saw Miu. Tsumugi went back to work, but it really was bothering her, so ten minutes later she went to confide in Shuichi about it. And that’s when the loud noise occurred. And after we rushed into the entrance hall, we heard Keebo’s voice outside. But both Miu and Keebo were trapped on the other side of the river, so something weird is up.

Kokichi thinks the only way that’s possible is if Tsumugi was lying. But we can attest that we also heard Keebo’s voice.

Kaito wants to know more details. After we heard Keebo’s voice, we headed back to the chapel. Along the way, we found Gonta, and then Kokichi, and when we got to the bridge, the signboard was still missing and Keebo, Maki, and Himiko were on the other side. Gonta went and grabbed the signboard, on Kokichi’s advice.

The visors are scattered all around. Some still plugged in, some not. Weren’t they all supposed to be unplugged now that we’ve logged out? Also, there’s what Miu said about mixing the consciousness and memory plugs up. It would cause a glitch, most likely. Let’s keep that in mind.

Finally, the small bottle on one of the seats. Just as I suspected, it’s one of the bottles from the shelf in Shuichi’s lab. Poison…

Kokichi secretly went to Shuichi’s lab and looked at all the poison and all the files. You know, just in case someone else uses them.

The poison is pretty lethal. But it has to be taken directly, because it becomes neutralized when diluted. The volume of non-diluted poison needed to kill someone is very very small. Even if someone only sipped a bit, it would be immediate death. And if Miu was logged in, and has no external injuries, and no way of controlling her real body…The poison causes a small blood vessel under the conjunctiva to explode, causing the whites of your eyes turn blood red. The conjunctiva is, thank you dictionary, the eye membrane.

Kokichi suggests Shuichi acknowledge him as his partner already. Shuichi tries to ignore him.

Who brought the poison here? Who knows. But it was left on Kokichi’s chair, which is certainly suspicious.

We’re done investigating the crime scene, it seems. But the real crime scene could be in the virtual world, too. So we gotta go back in. Kaito and Keebo want to join us. So does Himiko. Maki is gonna stay here, and so is Gonta. Sounds like Tsumugi is coming with us too.

Kokichi suddenly declares that he’ll also stay behind. To keep an eye on Maki…personally, I’m hoping Maki keeps an eye on him.

Himiko is still worried about getting the cords wrong. Tsumugi suggests she use a visor that’s already set up.

After another Neo World Program loading message, we’re in. We can only log in and out from the salon, which means we gotta investigate the rooftop to see how Kaito was logged out without being anywhere near the telephone.

Kaito doesn’t mind the graphics here, because this body is cool. No doubt because this body has none of his real body’s health issues.

Let’s look at the maps again. The mansion, where Kokichi investigated the salon, Tsumugi investigated the dining room, Kaito investigated the roof, and Gonta looked around the outside. Could Kokichi have done something to the phone that logged Kaito out?

The world map is surrounded by walls, and has a loading point in the middle. No sight or sounds can pass through the loading point, and to get from the mansion to the chapel, you have to go through the loading point, and crossing the river is part and parcel of that.

Outside the mansion, Keebo notices the toilet paper roll we saw on our way out. Keebo thought someone might have come here to poop, but it’s awfully cold for anyone to do so. Besides, avatars don’t need to go to the bathroom.

Kaito didn’t know that the signboard was recovered. Shuichi tells him that the signboard was caught on some rocks and was able to be recovered. But the rocks were on the mansion side of the map…the river flows onto the chapel side of the map. Hmmm.

At the chapel, Miu’s avatar is lying face-down in the snow. Doesn’t look like the crime scene was altered in any way. But, there’s a bunch of objects scattered around Miu’s avatar.

At one point, Keebo heard a strange whispering. Shortly before everyone went their separate ways, Miu, Kokichi, and Gonta had a whispered conversation. We couldn’t hear what they were saying at the time, but Keebo did. Kokichi and Miu had plans to meet each other somewhere. The rooftop was mentioned. I note that Keebo didn’t hear which rooftop, and is just assuming that it was the mansion’s.

Miu volunteered to search around the chapel, which seemed odd then, and is even odder if Kokichi and Miu planned to meet on the rooftop of the mansion. Hmmm. Let’s assume that it was the chapel rooftop. Miu has strange objects surrounding her avatar. A board, a hammer, and some other item. And there was a loud noise, and an impact felt in the chapel. But if Kokichi pushed Miu off the chapel roof, like I’m starting to suspect, where does the poison come in?

Speaking of the hammer. That could be used to kill, so how come it’s here, if Miu deleted all dangerous objects? Was she lying? Was Miu lured to her death not as an innocent victim, but someone who planned to become the blackened?

The mysterious object I couldn’t identify is a cellphone. And if we consider the other phone in this world…it must be able to log someone out instantaneously. Which means that even if the bridge was lost, Miu could have logged out, and logged back in into the salon. Maybe the log-out records were only for the phone in the salon? But if that’s the case, how did Kaito get logged out without using the cellphone or phone?

Ah…Shuichi says Kaito’s name into the phone, and Kaito logs out. Which means Miu must have been the one to log Kaito out, right? And it works on people other than yourself, so that’s gotta be it.

There’s a piece of lattice lying next to Miu’s body. I thought it was a board, but…I remember there being a piece of lattice in the mansion roof’s storage shed. Perhaps it was used to cross the river…in which case, Miu logged herself out with the phone, logged back in, went to the roof, grabbed the lattice, crossed the river with it, and took it back to the chapel? But we didn’t see any record of Miu logging out, whereas there was a record of Kaito logging out. So that can’t be it.

Miu’s avatar…it will disappear when she logs out. But since she’s dead, she will never be able to log out. Perhaps the avatar would disappear if we said “Miu Iruma” into the cell phone. In any case, she shows no signs of injuries, since the avatars can’t be hurt.

Avatars can hide objects just like in the real world, by putting stuff in their clothes. So we wouldn’t necessarily have seen Miu with the cellphone.

Back to the mansion to investigate the rooftop. As we walk in, Kaito exits the salon room, pretty angry at us. After he calms down, we go to investigate the rooftop. Kaito goes to look at Miu’s avatar, since he got interrupted last time he tried.

The doorknob on the door to the roof is locked. It can only be locked from the outside.

Keebo says he would be unable to get up or down from the roof to the ground without injury. So the stairs are the only way up or down.

Using the binoculars, we can see that the building is on top of a hill. We can’t see past the map loading point. But why is the loading point in the middle of the world map? Something’s odd about that.

And then the storage room, with it’s sudden lack of lattice. But we don’t appear to remember what the storage room had in it in the first place, so we can’t notice that the lattice was in it and is now at the chapel.

As we finish up on the rooftop, Maki comes up the stairs to tell us that Monotaro finished analyzing the program.

As we’re about to go leave, Maki says that we’re very reliably in a class trial, much moreso than out of one. But…Shuichi might be Ultimate Detective, but he shouldn’t carry the burden of figuring out the case alone. Before he’s a detective, he is a person…though Maki laments that she’s a hypocrite for saying so. She threw away her identity as the person named Maki Harukawa to become the Ultimate Assassin, after all.

We go to the salon, where Maki mentions that Kaito looked like he was in a bad mood after logging out earlier. Then the two of us log out.

Back in the real world, we confront Kokichi about his planned meeting with Miu. Kokichi says he never went to the rooftop, because it was locked when he tried. Hmmm.

There’s no proof that Kokichi went back to the salon when he was done, but there’s also no proof he didn’t.

As for Monotaro’s analysis…the person who modified the program was Miu. She deleted a bunch of objects. All possible weapons…except for the hammer. And the way the program was written, it looks like she didn’t just forget to delete the hammer. She left it there on purpose.

The cell phone was originally part of the program, so Miu didn’t have to add it. And Miu definitely didn’t tell us about the cell phone.

Miu added only two things – the maps.

Monotaro didn’t find anything other than the signboard that could be used as a bridge.

Miu also changed certain paremeters. Everything in the program is either human or object. Everyone’s avatar was assigned the human paremeter (even Keebo’s). Except for one. Miu gave her own avatar the paremeter “non-human object”. It’s for identification purposes, so it shouldn’t have affected anything in practical terms. So why did she do it?

Miu also added something else besides the maps. A wall. The loading point?

No, something is weird here. It’s not the loading point…

Wait, the wall she added…was it one of the outer walls? Maybe…the reason there’s only one wall added but one wall on either side of the map, making two walls total, is because the world originally looped around at that point. In which case, the reason we heard the banging sound and Keebo’s exclamation…

Oh. The wall had an additional setting. A setting that allowed objects to move through it, but not people. Which means Miu didn’t need a bridge to get around, if my loop theory is right.

And Miu didn’t stop there. She also fiddled with the avatars. She changed one of the avatars so that it would be unable to move if Miu touched that person. That person was Kokichi.

And one last thing. There was a strange error at one point. When everyone logged in for the first time, there was an avatar user error. But the contents of the error are unknown. Something weird happened to someone’s avatar when we logged in.

Before we can move to another area – such as our own lab – the trial bell rings. Monokuma seems exhausted, like all his energy was drained away.

Monotaro declares that he’s our friend now. When the trial is over, he wants to get to know us better. He’s gonna be the one to die during the execution, isn’t he…Himiko even points out how much his line sounds like a death flag. Monotaro proceeds to deliver several more lines, each raising the death flag higher and higher.

We go to the Shrine of Judgement. Everyone’s lives are on the line. It’s all up to us. But Kaito thinks we shouldn’t carry the burden alone. Before he can continue to encourage us Kokichi tells him to step off and stop bothering us. Maki tells him to stop and accompanies it with a signature glare.

Kaito reaffirms that we can come to him if we have any problems, but if we say we’re fine, then he’ll stand back and just believe in us.

We arrive at the courtroom. Monotaro looks like he got punished by Monokuma while we were traveling to the Shrine. His head is full of bruises, and he’s forgotten that he’s our friend.

Ah, Monophanie smacked him until he forgot that he forgot whose side he was on. OK.

Well, we have no choice but to find Miu’s killer. Let’s go…next time!

Mentoring at Diffusion Hackathon

On the 19th and 20th October at Factory Berlin some of the world’s most important Web 3 protocols and leaders in blockchain, from across The Convergence Stack came together for a 2-day in-person dev con made up of hacks, exclusive product launches, and live demos.

About the hackathon

Diffusion Hackathon is a two-day event with the focus on the practical application of open-source distributed ledger technology, smart contracts, machine learning, and programmable tokens, to create a new data layer. It brought together leading decentralized projects and their tribes, developers, economists, system engineers, enterprise and technical academia to define the next major web cycle.

Hacking is based on The Convergence Stack which is Web 3 protocols in blockchain, AI, IoT, and Big Data.

Leading practitioners from cryptography, machine learning, smart contract dev, IoT, systems engineers, and crypto-economics were exploring the implications of deploying new technologies and distributed systems in complex and challenging fields such as smart cities, Industry 4.0, and Mobility.

How can you leverage the Convergence Stack to do Good, with a capital G? How do we create an infrastructure for collaborative knowledge networks? How do we create Crypto-economic systems that will allow us to establish new rules and economic incentives for blockchain ecosystems? What can you achieve with machine learning with the ever-growing open datasets that decentralized systems themselves produce? How do we enable access control in decentralized systems? How do we share data over a trusted network, without losing time, reducing trust and ownership? How do we make every interaction that a user has with a smart contract understandable and safe? How do we onboard the 99% of developers and organizations who are not into Web 3 yet?

These are just some of the questions that Diffusion hackers were seeking answers to at selected hackathon tracks:

Mentoring and Hacking, why not do both?

The moment I heard about Diffusion got me really excited and I knew I wanted to be there, either as a hacker or a mentor. Since I mentored at ETH Berlin Zwei two months earlier I figured it would be best to continue in the same direction, so I applied ... and got accepted!

I was mentoring about User experience (UX) - for projects that build a product that will be used directly by people, e.g. a DApp or a service. My initial track of choice was The Usable Stack (new and better ways to use Web 3). A word about the track from the organizers:

It’s been ten years since the inception of blockchain, and using crypto and DApps is still hard. Too hard for the widespread adoption it deserves. Things are getting better: there are many great initiatives to make accessing DApps easier for new users, such as Metamask, Portis, and Torus, but to an extent, these are only scratching the surface of great Web 3 user experience. How do we not only lower the barrier of entry but make every interaction that a user has with a smart contract understandable and safe? As we extend the usage of distributed ledgers from simple value transactions to elaborate smart contracts and realize an open data economy, how do we provide ways for users to interact with it, without creating new centralized gatekeepers?

Web 2.5 (onboarding the rest of the world to decentralized technology) which I call The Liminal Web has been my second choice because it tackles the problems on how to assist people in transition from current Web 2.0 to Web 3.0 looking at current problems and future scenarios from user perspective, how we communicate the value, find the best product-user fit and offer the tools needed to make that transition.

Our Hack-along crew was also participating and since I’m close to them on a daily basis I was also considering hacking along.

My mentoring duties have been priority and I scheduled my calendar to listen to some interesting talks which I outline below.

Odyssey hackathon is used as a time-traveling device. Portal of the future opens and co-create with your future clients future solution and take it back. What can you do with it after the hackathon?

Who thinks that the Amazon rainforest is your responsibility? What can you do about it? What is the best tool to use it and how do we scale it? How do we incubate all the ecosystems in solving together all these problems? Complex challenges like these need all stakeholders. The ecosystem awareness that can allow people to act on the whole. Group A is not building something for Group B, Group A is building for Group A, we’re all part of a greater whole.

The emergence of the collaborative layer of the internet. An operating system for our global society. Ecosystem + Token = New market. The ecosystem grows, the cost of collaboration drops and creates new business opportunities.

How can you validate green energy going into the grid but without installing IoT devices? Vattenfall brought their competition on board, everyone from the ecosystem, all stakeholders. They all go and do the hackathon and program through a transformation. Then you encounter a new world together. If the team come to the hackathon to build what they planned to build then why did they come to the hackathon?

From hyper-competition IQ to hyper-collaboration EQ (emotional) and SQ (spiritual).

More and more emphasis is put on the human processes which make the difference and sets the DNA and culture of the Ecosystem. It allows people to understand each other, that’s what we’re looking for.

We need board members to understand the complexities of the 21st century and find a bridge to get onboard.

Fission talk: licensing open-source software

Open-source licensing evolution.

What does OS mean? Lcinscing, community, voting, democracy, mob rule?

Definition of OS:

Legal innovation of licenses

Way of working together in code, collaboratively, asynchronously, remotely (large corps did this)

Ideology of code re-use & sharing (gentle versions of)

Commons-based peer production: Lot’s of people work on it, everybody benefits from it and people can build on it even in revenue-generating fashion.

Open source is not a business model.

Why do you choose a license? Is it because of distribution, free labor from contributors, lock it open?

We forgot about a lot of stuff we fought 15years ago. Devs and biz people don’t spend much time which licensed they pick and why?

The copyleft (against copyright). GPL (don’t need to share your changes in code, keep it closed) and AGPL (mus share changes back).

Apple is moving from Bash to Zsh because of licensing, it’s GPL v2 and the new version uses v3. This is to think about licensing in business context.

To explain what the true secret of the outside world in Chapter 4 is. First you have to combine the pieces of the memories (the Flashback Lights) together and see how it’s done. It’d give you a better overview.

Timeline A :

- The Prologue 2nd: 

The V3 cast forgot all the events of (B) and they only keep the memories at (A), that’s why Kaede is no longer remember any walking-stuffed animal and the V3 killing game event started from this timeline.

The key to solve the Secret of the Outside World is The Order of Danganronpa Events. What is its secret? Let’s solve it together.

You can see B is where the gap in their memories lies.

The walls (A and C) by the chapel and mansion aren’t separate. They’re the same wall. It’s not just the river B, the walls themselves A and C are connected. So don’t think of it as two separate walls, but a single wall, this means you can consider A and C as one wall (AC). That single wall divides the entire World. The idea is, you pass through the wall by C and come out by A. Everything is starting to connect. If both the river (B) and wall (AC) are connected, then you can find the ‘Secret of The Outside World’. Yes, that’s it! The World is a loop. The edges of the World (A and C) are linked together in a continuous loop.

First we need to be clear where the loop starts. The map loading point was where the World looped. We thought the loading point was in the middle of the map. But the loading point was actually at the edges of A and C. This means B is not where the loop starts, but AC itself. The wall (AC) only allows non-humans to pass through, so sound should be able to pass through easily. No doubt, this is ‘the truth of the outside world’ that Kokichi witnessed with the card key motive.

Just a theory : Why were they in the lockers from the first place? I assume the lockers are some kind of devices that can transfer non-human things between two timelines. The case is, it’s used to transfer their memories from A to C. I think this is the way the V3 participants (out-of-universe) got the memories of the V3 Ultimates (in-universe) and being assimilated to themselves in the realm between.

And here is the right shape of the map before it was changed :

Let’s call the mansion side is the in-universe world and the chapel side is the out-of-universe world. Both sides exist in different dimensions. The participants in the chapel side receiving the memories of the Ultimates from the mansion side through the lockers in the realm between (CA). So that means their memories and bodies would be united as one. Also, when someone gets killed in the realm between reality and fiction, they would die for real from the viewpoint in both sides (reality and fiction).

Basically, we can view that B on the right is the in-universe world, B on the left now is out-of-universe world. And they are divided at the realm between reality and fiction (CA).

Hope’s Peak timeline (in-universe) and the audience timeline (out-of-universe) are distinct dimensions. Meaning the V3 event takes place in a world in the realm between, where can be viewed as related and unrelated to the first two DR games at the same time.

Now about the outside world in Chapter 5. Tsumugi says Team DR staffs made it, this sounds plausible if the dome is located out-of-universe. But it’s not entirely the case. According to the secret, the wall between two timelines only allows non-humans to pass through, and this killing game has to take place in the realm between, due some considerable things that I have been explaining in my other posts, thus it’s possible the cast could have went through the underground tunnel and witnessed the real outside world in-universe. So I think Tsumugi told the truth and lie at the same time about the ruined world being made up out-of-universe, but still, it was the real sight of the Tragedy did happen in-universe. 

To explain about the river (the timeline between in and out-of-universe), look at this :

The map shows you the river has two branches that lead to the same end of the river. The river represents the flow of the time from past to future. Upstream is the past A. Downstream is the future C. And there are two branches of the river, each one stretches along the X-axis and Y-axis. Those two branches converge on a single point, that’s the future. The paths are different, but the destination is the same. If all the branches that lead to the same end, that means there’s only one world in the end, you know, the Gofer Project is the end. Each branch of the river represents a separate worldline. The two worldlines that share a point of convergence is called an attractor field. 

They are possibilies that exist simultaneously. Each event lies in each different worldlines and they exist within the same Attractor Field to converge to the same result. In general, they are all true. Both in and out-of-universe were merged into one attractor field, that is the realm between. This supports my theory of multi-verse existing within different dimensions.

This is what the loop means, DR world (in-universe) is trapped in time-loop with no future moving forwards because that is what the outside world (out-of-universe) wants.
