Team Fortress 2 Mercenary Ages - given all of the canon information we know!

Scout - 27

In the TF2 Comic “The Naked and the Dead,” Spy (Scout’s biological father) states that Scout was conceived 27 years ago, making Scout 27. This is the only 100% confirmed age.

Soldier - mid 40s to early 50s

It’s stated in Soldier’s description that he attempted to join the army during WWII. If we assume Soldier was a young adult when he attempted to enlist, he would now be in his mid 40s to early 50s during the events of TF2.

Pyro - unknown

There is very little information out there on Pyro. It would be impossible for me to accurately identify their age.

Demoman - mid 30s

The only information I have in regards to demoman’s age comes from a line his mother says in the book “Valve Presents Volume 1: The Sacrifice and Other Steam-Powered Stories” in which Demo’s mother remarks: “No demoman worth his Sulfur ever had an eye in his head past thirty!” Which means Demo is most likely somewhere in his 30s.

Heavy - mid 40s to early 50s

In the update comic “Meet the Director,” it is revealed that Heavy was sent to a North Siberian Gulag in September 1941 alongside his mother and sisters. Heavy also canonically has a PhD in Russian literature, as revealed through his dialogue in the game ‘Poker Night at the Inventory.’ It would take around 9 years to obtain that PhD, meaning- depending on if he obtained the degree before or after 1941, he would be either in his mid 40s or early 50s.

Engineer - early to mid 30s

Engineer designed and built the Sentry under contract from TF industries in 1965, with him also spending 10 years in the West Texas oil fields- assuming Engineer was 18 before this date, he would be in his early to mid 30s during the events of TF2.

Medic - late 30s to early 40s

Medic’s description explicitly states that he was “Raised in Stuttgart, Germany during an era when the Hippocratic oath had been downgraded to an optional Hippocratic suggestion,” This implies that Medic was brought up during, or just before, WWII. The word ‘raised’ heavily implies the Medic to still be in adolescence during this era, making him surprisingly younger than expected, with him being around his late 30s to very early 40s during Team Fortress 2.

Sniper - early 30s

In the Team Fortress 2 comic ‘Blood in the Water’, Miss Pauling directly states that New Zealand sunk 40 years ago- in the same comic, Sniper is shown as a baby in a flashback, 10 years after New Zealand sunk. This makes Sniper out to be 30 or 31 in the TF2 present.

Spy - unknown, estimated early-mid 50s

Given Spy’s secretive nature, it’s difficult to deduct how old he is. However, since he has a 27 year old son, it’s likely that he is in his mid 50s. There is a single comic panel (Found in ‘Unhappy Returns’) depicting Spy’s hair to have a grey tint to it, further emphasising this fact.

And in the last 24 hours everyone who wanted coaching I responded to them that they can buy anything they want from me but they better wait 7 days so I can know the results of the experiment before giving them anything because the results of this experiment will show if my clients will need a self-concept tape with the void concept tape or not even the coaching will they need that much coaching I was giving to my other clients who already bought everything

Day Twenty (of a 100)

Couldn't update yesterday bc thunderstorm+powercut=dead phone

What I planned to do

Visit the library, go through Biochemistry lecture notes and then start working on presentation

I'm actually so tired, not physically but deep within my bones

And yesterday was just fheisigwkav bc:

The neighbor lady who I usually commute with left me behind so I had to go wait for the bus

I forgot to bring an umbrella so I got rained on at 6 in the morning

I realized I forgot my student id at home (for the first time in forever) so I couldn't enter the library and had to wait on a cold bench bc the cleaner ladies were doing their jobs

When I finally got to enter an unoccupied class the power went out and my phone battery was halfway full bc I didn't charge it the last night bc there was another thunderstorm so now I'm sitting wondering if it'll last the entire day

The school wifi went out along with the power so I can't do anything even if I wanted to bc I don't have lecture slides or anything on my phone (I left my laptop). Plus there's a lesson that's supposed to be on

The power comes back almost an hour later but then after 10 minutes a class starts so I have to switch locations

All the classes in the block I'm in are occupied, it's raining outside so I'm back on the cold bench

While on the bench I get news that the lab I came for is starts at 1 pm it was supposed to start at 11. I also get news that the 7 am online class is postponed to Thursday evening... I could've ate a proper breakfast and came to school at 12.

Atp I don't even want to do anything I'm so demoralized so I wait for the lab (and try to find the articles for the presentation). The lab was an assessment and it was ass, I was spraying medication everywhere, I forgot crucial steps like actually talking to my "patient" , I returned used cotton wool back to my sterile work table WHO TF EVEN DOES THAT?!?! It's just-

So after that I just packed up my shit and went home.

I get home do chores, I plan to yk study at night to make up for the crap day I had. Thunderstorm starts, the power goes out and can't lie I was scared. The rain was heavy, the wind was strong and the thunder was booming like a mf, I was under the blankets wide awake, scared shitless in pitch black darkness ...... Great!

And you know what the saddest thing is, I could've just switched on the lights (bc they are these charge up bulbs that work even when there's no power) and opened a textbook

OKAY SO

I've gone into this before both in text and in art though I need to update them and tbh I miiiiiight do that after I finish the LL!Main Five BUT

Twilight:

God her canon main outfit is just... it's nerdy schoolgirl prep and I never really liked it? Like it works /better/ with Sci-Twi, but not Pony!Twi(I could go on a tangent on how they're different people compared to the rest of the Mane 6). ANYWAY. It's just too. It's too put together and coordinated and that is not Twilight she's not putting together cute-but-outdated nerdy outfits, she's throwing on whatever because she's running on caffeine and spite.

I tend to stick her in something simple and practical for her causal-wear. Jeans, t-shirt. Solid boots. Usually I'll have Sci-Twi in some flannel and Pony!Twi gets a long coat because she needs to have something more than just the shirt, but the two give different vibes (flannel is more cozy and normal girl. Coat demands authority and looks cool/mysterious.)

Pinkie:

She just. She needs more! More patterns, more accessories! Armwarmers, funky socks! Ribbons! Etc! (I think she'd rock some Decora looks, but I do have to think about how it's not practical to animate and even /I/ don't want to draw all that detail).

But she also needs to be aware of movement! Canon's skirt and tight jacket are not meant for a girl who is bouncing around and climbing the walls. Give her some shorts/pants, even if it's under a fluffy skirt, and something she can really move in!

Rarity:

tbh Rarity's is one of the default outfits I think is fine. /personally/ I change the style of her top, sometimes her boots, maybe add a necklace, though still keep it in the same vibes. But she ends up close to the same as Canon to me

Applejack:

AJ is 100% my favorite of the outfits because the only thing I change is giving her pants. Because seriously why tf do they refuse to give these girls any pants/shorts? And AJ, being often more practical on the whole, would prefer pants for her everyday outfit and keep skirts/dresses to special events.

Rainbow:

The top part is fine! The skirt has to go. Rainbow is not only a 'pants/shorts are more practical because I'm so active all the time' type, but she is very much against looking 'girly' and 'frilly' and would hate most skirts/dresses. Idk if you put shorts on under the skirt, just don't let her have a skirt!

Fluttershy:

Dearest. Darling. Why. No shy, anxiety filled mess(affectionate) would be wearing a miniskirt and a (white) tanktop. I mean you /can/ if you want, but when it comes to character design..... I go one of two ways when it comes to Flutters' outfit redesigns

1.) go classic and lean into the Cottagecore™ and all the soft, long, flowing stuff

2.) go practical since Fluttershy works with animals, so something with a bit of coverage but not flowing enough to be a hazard, and with lots of pockets for treats.

Her original design was okay but her Friendship Games outfit???? PEAK. 10/10. No changes.

Welcome to TMN'T'!! In this iteration, the boys don't grow up in a busy city, but secluded in a house in the woods on an island on the coast of South Carolina. When Splinter escaped with the kids, he ran as far and as fast as he could, hitchhiking, train hopping, and stealing bus tickets with two oddly covered toddlers and a suspiciously lumpy backpack.

Wonder who he was running from...

The story begins when April moves to their small town and stumbles upon the boys and their eccentric friend, Casey Jones. Shenanigans ensue, enemies are made, there’s kidnapping?? Maybe?? They eventually end up in New York, living begrudgingly in the hidden city with someone they don’t quite like.

They meet Cass, Sunita, Donnie’s online friend Donnie, and even MORE shenanigans ensue!! People get hurt, hearts broken, family ties tested, pasts revealed, and many, many hugs are given.

Q: What the hell is up with the birds?

A: They we’re mutated in their eggs with the DNA of two bio parents and a bird. The bird part was meant to increase speed and eyesight and similar things, but mostly just shows up in their patterns. They do have bird behaviors, like nesting and chirping and beaks, but turtles already had that. (Except for Donnie, homeboy doesn’t have a beak)

Q: Who mutated them?

A: ;) All I’ll tell you for now is that it was purposeful, similar to Rise. Leo was five when she was rescued, Raph one, and the twins in their eggs.

Q: What is the turtles relationship with each other?

A: Much like 2k12, Raph challenges Leo a lot. He knows she’s keeping things from them, won’t explain her scars, and there’s more to why they need to hide. All the boys tend to disrespect her place as leader, but are generally very close. Mikey and Donnie lean on each other, finding solidarity in being the “broken” ones(blind and softshell). The generally don’t need to talk to understand each other. They all cuddle and while they bicker, love each other very much. Overall, the relationship is good!

Leo - Turquoise Tanager - Ger

-Oldest at 19 years old

-Name is Leo or Ger

-DNA is spliced from a diamondback terrapin and a blue-winged teal

-Transfem and uses she/her

-English is her second language, learned when she was closer to four

blurb | holy shit y’all, I’ve got another multi-ch jjk fic on the block. and it's not interfering w adsr. I have never had the mental capacity to as much as consider two multi-ch fics at the same time; if I’m working on a multi-ch wip, and inspiration suddenly strikes and forces me to get another one off the ground, I just abandon the former for the latter. they can never co-exist. well until now apparently.

maybe due to the fact that this is like, the first longish fic I’ve ever set out to write, that I know needs to start with x, and contain y, to equate z (in less dumbass terms: I know what the fuck I’m supposed to write (which I never do lmao, as a writer I operate on 0 thoughts 100% vibes in the purest sense, which is idiotic when all I can write is plotty as sh*t)). which is why I’m slowly fleshing out ch 09 of adsr alongside chapter 1/2 of cv/sm (title isn’t necessarily all that spoiler-y, but in a sense it is, so keeping the full thing under wraps for now). estimating chapter length to be around at least 10-ish k each.

Satoru shields a hand—and himself—against dank, bloodspill red rays of supposed-to-be-sunlight. He squints, for the second time in very short—a novelty—as he slowly treks up a quasi-path in sand that’s less sand, more earth-adjacent carnage. There’s as much splintered rock and powdered mineral, weighed down by radioactive algae, as there is—

Bone. Satoru didn’t pay all that much attention to any of his number of biology classes, but via this or the other, he knows that he just stepped clean through the porous curve of a partial ilium crest. 

Bone. And calcified curse. Whoever’s pelvis he just crushed beneath the heel of his boot is fifty fifty, somehow. Curses have weight to them: Satoru doesn’t mean that in an abstract, flighty sense; curses weigh literal kilos, if realized enough. And this bit of so old it’s become brittle-bone isn’t brittle because it doesn’t have the amassed density of dense bone mineral and weighty curse—

It’s brittle because the curse which blankets the very atmosphere—and by extension Satoru—like the incredible opposite of stepping out into balmy, subtropical climate after so long breathing recycled air on long flight, is so much heavier.

Satoru swallows against a parched throat he hadn’t realized was this dry. Bile amasses sour at the back of his tongue. He’s not so naïve as to not believe his eyes; they’ve never deceived him, though he has admittedly, a scant number of times, seen only a partial piece when he’s supposed to have zoomed out, regarded the whole frame. So he won’t do himself the discourtesy of cowering for what he is indeed seeing, right now, either.

Wherever he is might be Tokyo; might be Japan. It might not be. The thought occurs to him that there might be no such thing as ‘Japan’ at this point.

He scuffs a toe in the wet kind of-sand. At least the ocean remains a steady, squalling, sucking depth of blue-grey-black: a constant. He puts a cupped palm to shield his eyes as he scans his immediate surroundings: the carnage-filled slope of the once-beach hitches up into a small rock jut. Satoru climbs it with wary, though loping steps. Can’t reach the peak far enough, just as he can’t wait to wake up, startled out of horrid, nightmarish slumber by his senses wavering, flickering out of active guard for a millisecond.

Fucking ironic, how being imprisoned in an alternate dimension, whilst your comrades are no doubt slaughtered, picked off one by one on the outside, can apparently measure up and beyond to a certain iteration of reality.

The world beyond Satoru’s meager outlook spot, for lack of actual, original words, looks like a most fleshed out iteration of Ducasse’s juxtaposed sewing machine and an umbrella, flayed bare and egregiously stitched together, there on the dissecting table. A subcutaneous fissure in the earth yawns wide and open ahead of him, having broken through what was once maybe an inlaid asphalt road, which might’ve bisected the dry landscape, made it into something traversable. Farther ahead, vines have staked their claim on man made structures: lampposts and road signs lilt askew, overgrown now and mostly impossible to identify by cursory glance alone. To his left, far up ahead, a probable once upon a time-gas station has been half-gouged out of place, bits and pieces of the foundation strewn, alongside the disembodied hood of a car, and the shriveled spirals of torn-apart rubber, like so much collateral, structural shrapnel.

The air is heady and thick with curse. It’s invasive, and everywhere, muggy and humid; it fills his pores to the brim, snakes into his clothes, mingles so thoroughly with the oxygen that it might as well be one and the same.

Satoru doesn’t have the personality to become overwhelmed: whatever typical strains of reactionary, knee jerk, emotional responses might’ve once been ingrained into the core of him, he’s successfully whetted away over time. Has picked out, grasped between the thumb and pad of index finger, and ripped out by the root.

He sinks to a crouch by way of slow inching. Drops his weight until he’s dislodged most of his mass to be temporarily suspended in the aborted motion of balancing himself between the flat of his sole, and his knees. He puts his right hand to rest on top of his rocky underfoot, not in support, but to feel dense, solid earth under his knuckles as he tightens them. He dispels Infinity, in this instant giving less than a flying fuck about what might happen to him as a result of it, and digs his blunt fingernails into the meat of his palm until it breaks into gaping, blood pulsing lesions.

Ok, I need your people to speak tf up. Because I saw them, FOR DAYS, in your ask box, with ideas, begging for specific stories, pumping themselves up over how badly they want this fic. Well that's the thing because anons are ALWAYS more hype about the conversations around the fics than the actual fics and I've tested it where I'm like I'll post at this time during this day to see if there'd be more visibility and there isn't and then there's all this wondering why I'm very specific about when I write and how I write because I have to write for me and then just kind of see what happens instead of actively thinking about requests or updates or continuations when I get, like, 12 notes on a fic.
