An update for Heroes of Flowers since the Tempest of Hearts almost is over

it’ll be awhile... not like 2 months long but like a couple weeks hopefully until the next HOF update (im thinking maybe September?)

And thought I’d share some of what’s coming up and what’ll happen!

If you’d like to prefer being kept in the dark I’ll put it under a “read more” n.n

So Phase 3 (Which will be after the interlude story) will be the end of what I’d call the “main” story of HOF and it takes place during the fugitive arc in the show timeline... tho im not doing the fugitive arc plotline bc Snooze would get conked on the head with a broom by an angry Ari everytime he went into the Lucky Cat and also I’d like to keep my braincells

(Tho Chief Cruz will be a part of Phase 3 even if he isn’t the “big bad”... but like in the “ok grandpa let’s get you back to bed” energy everytime he rants about superheroes and supervillains XD. Not rly but I think you’ll like how I write him)

Phase 3 instead covers an arc I’ve dropped hints of... which I like to call the Galaxian arc since the big bads of that are the Galaxian Pirates, my own little supervillain team. Not stating that my og arc is gonna be better than canon (even if the bar is low) but I hope you guys enjoy (I shall be posting their refs as they show up tho so you’ll like em).

Like I said, not saying im better than canon (which is a loaded subject tbh im not going into that), but I had a fun writing my own little twists to the latter half of Season 2 and I hope you enjoy them! 

But there’s an interlude fic before that which’ll be called Heroes of Flowers: Curtain Call and it follows the aftermath of COM and be mostly focused with the Fern fam, with the nerd gang (+ Ari) getting a break in the bg. It’s basically the calm before the storm 

It’ll also be the canonical debut of Jackie the emotional support Rabbit, an OC I’ve drawn before but he hasn’t shown up in HOF yet. (A bit of trivia about him tho is he’s based off of a Pokemon character of mine, Jackie the Buneary from one of my stories LPM), this drawing is from the cover of Curtain Call and this is all you’re getting of it for now 

(Jackie isnt one of the main characters of HOF but he is one of my favorite side characters to write, his debut sidenote is kind of later in the story, but I hope you’ll enjoy CC! It was fun giving the Ferns the spotlight, something that miiight’ve carried over in FFP because I had way too much fun writing my emotional support found family)

Phase 3′ll be called Fallen From Power and it’ll be posted after Curtain Call but wait there’s more!

I’ll also be posting a side-story called Heroes of Flowers: Karmi’s Spots which will have Karmi having her own adventures outside of SF featuring a lovable spotted family in Camden and two OCs that may or may not be related to some canons.

KS was really self-indulgent/fun, I enjoyed writing all the shenanigans and it’s also a crossover with an underrated TV show I really like. Tho dw I tried my best to be noob friendly (if you haven’t seen the show), but I can always go into details in the ANs, still hope you enjoy it!

there will be some references to Fallen From Power in it, I’ll be sure to mention which chapter the reference is at the start of each chapter if there is a reference so you don’t get spoiled if you haven’t seen said chapter... tho ur free to take the spoilers out of context I’m not one to tell people how to read n.n; 

unsure how i’ll update but im thinking of doing an every-other week thing, one week I’ll post for FFP and one week I’ll post for KS!

- bigmonsteras is someone whose art i love, they do a lot of peace walker stuff that's rly good! - daydreamycrustacean posts quite a bit of mg stuff and i rly like their art too, they've done some great comics. - 730chocolate has a really unique style, so i like their stuff a lot, altho they're not super active. - pyersiki is also someone i rly like, they draw a lot of kaz content lol which is great. - sgushyonka has some rly good mg stuff, they did some cool pieces as well as funny stuff. - someone who is pretty active is the esteemed ba7land ...they draw a lot of uh. bara stuff like Very Big Tits big boss but i mean good for them. they do a range of stuff actually some cute snake eater content tbh. - pe4cewalker is doing some rly nice art of, uh, surprise surprise, peace walker related stuff, some very good kaz content. - kokirby has a cool style and did some great ocelots although i don't know how active they are metal gear wise. - berserkbrandee seems to be fairly active, they do some cute otasune stuff. - littlenim does some lovely art, cool style and does mgs3/pw as well as otasune era stuff. - jxthics has some great stuff although they're not as active now mg wise i think, but i like them a lot. - crybabimeiri has done some really lovely pieces but not as active mg wise at the moment either. - groznisad has a really fun art style, they posted recently so i hope they're somewhat active. - pejuad has some very cool stuff, i love their solid snake pieces, v interesting style - truthful-tidings used to do mgs stuff, i think not as much now, but their ocs and other stuff looks cool lol - gncbigboss posts mgs art occasionally, they did some cool sniper wolfs i seem to remember - wingedtrumpet is a blog i just noticed the other day, they did a post with some funky looking raidens, so one to watch maybe

i guess also just keep checking the mgs tumblr tag for new posts/new artists cropping up! i know tumblr messed up the search so that if you go to the 'recent' section you get a load of stuff unrelated to mgs, but if you click on the 'tagged' section instead, then you actually will get recent posts that are almost all mgs related. (that's what i’ve found on mobile anyway lol)

im sure there are many good artists i’ve forgotten or not come across, these are the somewhat active/current mgs ones that come to mind though anyway. i’m only on tumblr for fandom stuff, not twitter, so i guess there’s good stuff on there i might be missing. (u won’t catch me posting on the light blue hellsite anytime soon tho LOL)

Your Demise/Hylia artworks come off to me as both incredibly beautiful and sad. It feels lonely, like there is nothing in the world but them and the landscape. Then canonically, we know what happens to Demise and I'm just gonna go sit over here to cry. Thanks for making me ship it. It's looking more like Demise/Hylia/Tragedy at this point.

i’ve been looking at this ask for a while now and it somehow makes me really happy and sad at the same time ? like, you’ve put into words how i’ve been feeling writing their story

on another note tho, they’re not totally alone. they have fi and ghirahim too, and there are people living as well (i just had no reason to draw those .. although it would be kinda good to do this since you guys have no idea about how tall hylia/demise actually is xD)

then again, it is kind of supposed to feel lonely, in my version of the story, demise has nothing left from his homeworld exept for ghirahim, and hylia, while her world is alive and well, the people that pray to her are still afraid of her just as much and she only comes into brief contact with them whenever they need her protection ... plus we all know how it ends, and hoo boy, if i actually manage to get this comic done (my twitter followers decided that i need to do it >o>) then be prepared bc if i can convey the emotions that i want to express then its gonna be a real bad time ;__; ( considering how i hate tragic endings its rly hard for me to make it end like that but hey, the canon lore demands it .. im already going too far away from it ‘>_> )

Hey! I just wanted to ask u that how do u draw this things so good like do u use a tablet drawing kind? If not then just give me some tips on how you do the shadings and highlights! -Biggest fan of u!!!

i use an ipad and apple pencil for my draws! on the ipad i used procreate 

i recently got a new tablet also.. its an xp-pen its big... but im just not used to it yet kajdhf (ive only drawn a few things on that hopefulyl ill complete a whole draw on that soon! for that i use clip studio paint!!

ill just go into shading and highlights on the ipad since its what im more used to! usually for shading i just pick a darker color like blue or purple .. tho it depends on the colors in the draw rly! and then i just create a clipping mask to keep everything on the layer im shading and then i use multiply and lower the opacity! i like my shading to be soft bc harsh lines scare me akdjfh so i end up using a softer brush! right now ive been using jingsketch’s free basic brushes which u can find here if u wanna try them out!

as for highlights i use a harder brush and i just pick a rly light almost white color.. sometimes i use blending modes like screen and lower the opacity and sometimes i dont it depends on what it looks like on the drawing!

as for how i know where to hightlight or shade..... i rly dont and u can tell and i need to get better at it XD just pick a light source and stick to it.. i need to follow my own advice

i dont remember exactly how it happened but i’d always sorta wanted to go back to the glory days that was the old web and the scene era, and that, coupled with a bright, colourful aesthetic that i could really enjoy, drew me in like a moth to a neon colored flame ig looollll
