robin stares at dylan with corner smirk and nods slowly. "i don't know we just ... fit." he confesses as he thinks about his significant other. after a moment he laughs a little and shakes his head. "it's crazy - who would have thought that i, robin, could finally settle down, huh?"

as they waited for their next round of beers, the two found themselves with a rare moment of privacy. a playful glint in their eyes, dylan leaned in slightly, breaking the jovial atmosphere with a hint of seriousness. "so spill it," he teased, "what's the secret sauce with this guy? Is he treating you like the queen you are?"

everyone deserves a fresh start — especially the residents of hawkins, indiana . some are beginning to question if the town is cursed but an unlucky few know the truth about the seemingly - quaint town . after being plagued by tragedy and defeating the mind flayer , everyone is hoping that their suffering has come to an end ... but living in hawkins is never that easy . despite the current lull , they can only wonder if the chaos is finally over or if what’s to come could be worse than what they’ve conquered in the past .
đŹđźđŠđŠđšđ«đČ.
a canon - divergent and head - canon enthused stranger things roleplay taking place after the events of season three , leading into the events of season four . all muns and muses must be 20+ , canon and original muses are permitted , standard rules of etiquette apply . mutuals and/or those who liked the previous interest post will be given preference .
đ«đźđ„đžđŹ.
standard rules apply . we’re adults and we know the basics  !
( 1 ) no ooc drama , no godmodding , no ship chasing , no bubble roleplaying .  keep negativity / rants in the chat minimal . i am here for you if something is wrong but please be mature about your complaints and concerns . if you cause ooc drama , you’ll be removed with NO WARNING .
( 2 ) mature themes are likely going to be present in this verse so be mindful before applying . please censor triggering material and mark channels as nsfw , if necessary . muns, muses and faceclaims must be 20+ . ideally for the younger group , they’re between the ages of twenty and twenty - one with the older group being twenty - two or twenty - three .
( 3 ) as stated in the interest post , i do want to keep this on the small and intimate side but i don’t have a mun cap in mind . you’re allowed to play three muses . due to the lack of diversity within the show , i highly encourage thinking outside the box with fcs for the younger group since their faceclaims can’t be used and being as diverse as possible when bringing in original characters . at least ONE of your muses MUST be gender - diverse or a person of color .
( 4 ) although real life always comes first , please don’t join if you are not able to adequately contribute to the group . this will be a collaborative space with no activity limit ... don’t take advantage of that . since this group is set in the 80s , one - liners and paras will be preferred . i will allow occasional text threads due to convenience ( we’ll use our imagination and pretend it’s a quick walkie talkie convo or something ) but face - to face - interactions should get precedence .
taken list :
mike wheeler portayed by eli hewson , written by lari .

GET TO KNOW THE MUN
name: Michaela
nickname: Kaela
faceclaim: I dont have one. I've used Oscar the grouch in the past.
pronouns: she/her
height: 5ft (I'm a little shorty)
birthday: 5th August
aesthetic: don't really have one as it varies a lot. Can go from disney, to Morden witch, to cute. There's always quirky jewelery though (like spacemen, today is a viking ship necklace, yesterday was toad and mushroom earings)
last song you listened to: whip jamboree- the fishermen's friends (fun fact I'm going to see them in February)
favorite muse(s) you've written: either Robin or my first muse I ever wrote who was a guy called elliot from Alice in the country of hearts (basically he was a bunny boy that was a big himbo in the mafia. Super fun and cute)
GETTING TO KNOW THE ACCOUNT
what inspired you to take on this muse?
In lockdown, I needed a creative outlet so revived some old characters and created some new ones. Mostly played with the stereotypes for each creature and how to put a spin on that. (Ie, all powerful witch that doesn't understand their power nor wants to do anything with it, subby pup werewolf, mute banshee)
what are your favorite aspects of your current muse?
They all have different aspects that I love. But really they're all fun and great to write.
who is your current fc?
Depends on the muse but current ones are: Dylan Llewellyn, Toby Regbo, Chris Evans, Margo Robbie, Sarah Hyland, Tom Hughes, Hale Appleman (on hiatus) and Timothee Chalamet (on hiatus)
what's your biggest inspiration when it comes to writing?
Honestly I get inspired from everything and everything. Can be an image, a film, a sentence, a meme, random idea that came to me.
Favorite types of threads?
Historical, arranged marriage, and dark threads.

MORE OC STUFF FOR YOU~!
Rashad has a secret identity that he acts on a little Robin Hood type of justice seeker, stealing from rude rich and giving to the poor, taking books and giving them to girls so they can have a education, stuff like that (think Red Whirlwind from Romeo X Juliet). Kalim or the Asim family has no idea and neither does the Viper family. Until- Petter patter of feet running across the cold clay is audible to one's shift ears as the man dressed in deep reds and brown clothes runs from the eyes of wandering guards, the moonlight shining the golden threads that make the tiger symbol. Carefully he jumps over a gap and starts climbing up a silk and cloth made rope that hangs in a shadow covered hallway from a luxurious home guarded by humans and tall walls, twisted his ankle under the dead of night in the process. "Ű§Ù„Ù‚Ű±Ù (Shit)" He cursed behind his mouth and nose cover as he finally climbed over the balcony and looked at his already reddish swollen ankle. He, however, had no time to relax and let his guard down as he heard the sounds of movements in his bedroom. "Who's there?" Said the lad in the tone of toughness, reaching for his golden dagger attacked to his hip. A cute feminine face peeks out from behind a peacock green curtain. The younger Viper servant. "You're so tense princess." Said Najma with a smirky giggle. Rashad's heart dropped, he was so careful, now she'll tell- Najma walked to him and grabbed one of the books in the nap sack he carried with a smile, "I won't tell if you won't Tiger." Fun fic to make
Dylan makes bomb vanilla coffees
The tweels tease Dylan sometimes but it's more like brotherly teasing and not "These are tall AF older graders who pick on me" teasing
A bit of a angst but it's needed for Dylan's name and backstory; Azul's and Dylan's parents divorced sometime when Azul was being picked on and Dylan was taken with the dad after the divorce which broke both their hearts. They wrote to each other but Dylan never forgave their dad for doing that and happily started staying in the Ashengratto household when he does visit the Coral Sea during schoolings. He just loves his brother
Ash once was at a party in a pretty dressed and no one asked them to dance. Until Trein did a dope thing and asked a dance from their step-child and Ash keeps a picture of that night as a happy memory
Another time Crowley did it as a "I'll one day be part of your family, I want to make you smile." (I headcanoned a AU where Crewel is Trein's long lost son)
Allen loves sweets only cause of Riddle. He ate them whenever he and Riddle rarely hanged out with him though families refused it. So sibling ice cream cake dates are a must every free time in the school year
Not a OC but here's a RSA something; So a student was talking shit about Azul since he still sees Azul as the "fat slow kid" everyone picked on and Rielle's a good boy now so he tried to make said student stop but student kept going and even started saying all NRC is bad. Suddenly everyone in RSA heard a loud yipe and a table crash and find Rielle standing with a fist in hand and the student bruised in the face on the floor and Rielle's yelling at him to never dare say that stuff again and how he has no idea how hard people work and how that'll make someone hurt, all things he learned from Azul. He gladly took a suspension for that
;o I love defensive Rielle :D

WARNING: angst, tears, coma, The mental and emotional torture of Nero continues

Nothing existed outside this room. The only people in the universe were Nero and you and whoever entered. Anything or anyone outside that door simply didn’t exist. Neither did time. How long he had been here he didn’t know, and he didn’t care.
Nero hadn’t moved from your bedside since he had arrived. The only reason he had moved from his knees to a chair was because Dante all but dragged him into one. The exhaustion was evident on his face, he was a shadow, an empty shell. He looked soulless in his despair, and how could he not when half his soul was lying still in a cold sterile hospital bed? Y/N, his love, and the mother of his children. So close to him yet so far away. All he could do was stare at you, watching your chest rise and fall painfully slow, as the IV quietly dripped off in the distance. His hand still in yours, he would sometimes bring your fingers to his lips and just revel in the warmth they still had.
He barley slept, the first few nights he had spent here were hell, he was plagued by nightmares. Terrifying visions of you, covered in blood, growing weaker and weaker by the second. He could only watch in abject horror
He didn’t react when the door to the room clicked open quietly. Nor did he pay any mind to the heavy yet soft footsteps approaching him. His eyes did follow the tiny Styrofoam cup of coffee that was placed on the side table, only for them to fall back to his wife.
“Nero,” Dante started gently.
No response.
Dante awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck and his stubble as he watched his nephew kneel at your bedside. He knew to give the kid his space but, this was ridiculous.
“Nero, it’s been three days.”
Still silence.
“Dammit Nero,” he hissed, “You can’t just sit here and wait around. She’ll wake up when she wakes up you
 just gotta give her time.”
“I’m not leaving her,” Nero replied, his voice hoarse and barely audible.
Dante was growing more and more tense. Watching his nephew waste away not even caring about seeing his babies. Dante gripped the back of Nero’s shirt and hoisted him up to his feet, spinning him around to face him. The elder devil hunter gripped his shoulders, shaking Nero just a little bit.
“Nero, you got two beautiful munchkins you haven’t even seen yet. Would Y/N want you wasting away here leaving them alone?” Dante asked.
Nero stared his uncle in the eyes, taking in his words, still silent. His mind was still clouded with exhaustion and despair it took him a moment to truly comprehend. He looked back over his shoulder at you and then back to his uncle.
He was right.
“I’ll stay with her,” Dante said, “You go see your kids.”
Nero nodded and began to quietly make way for the door, not before Dante gave him a hardy pat on his shoulder. He looked back once more as Dante took his seat next to your bed. It took everything to not just go back but he had to see his babies.
The walk through the cold white corridors was arduous. Nero’s legs felt like they were made of lead as he trudged towards the nursery. He had to ask several nurses where to go as he would forget the map and room number just moments after finding out. He eventually made it and as he stepped through the door, he felt his breath catch in his throat.
He approached the large viewing window and peered into the nursery. His eyes scanned over each newborn as he searched for his twins. Would he even know what they look like? He never saw them. You were whisked away the moment he entered the hospital. What did they look like? Who had who’s eyes and nose? Were there twenty toes and twenty fingers? Nero began to grow more and more frantic as he continued searching through the carriers.
His attention was captured when two nurses entered on the other side of the glass. Each one gingerly pushing a cart with a baby inside. One swaddled in a soft robin’s egg blue blanket, the other in a pastel pink. They parked the two carts side by side near the window, checked the other babies, then left to attend to other tasks.
Nero stared in awe at the two newborns in front of him. Tears of joy brimming in his eyes when he saw the little tufts if snow white hair peaking over the tops of their heads.
It was them. His twins, his babies. Credo and Vivien Rose. Healthy and safe. Joy overflowed his heart as he watched them wriggle and kick in their blankets. He watched Credo’s mouth stretch in a massive yawn. He laughed to himself as Vivien kept kicking against her blanket, just as restless as she was in your womb.
Nero’s sniffled and didn’t bother to wipe the tears of happiness and pride as they rolled down his cheeks. The cold stone prison that encased his heart was chipped away at. Warmth swam through his veins. How could two beings so closely resembling angels have even a drop of demon blood in them he thought as he pressed his hand to the glass. Now only they existed.
A presence was suddenly made known behind Nero. Pausing just feet behind him, letting him have this joy. Soon enough the eyes in the back of his head became too much and Nero turned to acknowledge the presence. Warmth still in his heart, Nero couldn’t stop the awkward dread in the pit of his stomach.
“What are you doing here?” Nero asked, his voice laced with venom.
“I wanted to see my grandchildren, and you,” Vergil replied.
Nero was silent for a while, a long while. And Vergil was patient, patient as he always was. He knew his son was distraught, unable to fully process anything to the fullest. And he knew his very presence only added to the heavy weight dangling from the thin threads of Nero’s sanity. His brain was going to overload any second. His fear of loosing you, his joy of seeing his babies, the hanging tension between him and his own father. It was enough to tear him apart from the inside.
And it did. All at once, everything let go. His emotions had no category. Joy, fear, anger, disgust, sorrow, pain all melted into one impossible to describe slurry of something in Nero’s heart. And the plug was pulled, it all came spilling out, a torrential flood of every emotion came flooding out of him. And he felt like he would have been swept away with it, had Vergil not been there.
Vergil’s arms wrapped around his son as he nearly collapsed. Nero’s face was deeply buried in his fathers chest, as his body was wracked with sob after sob. His arms tucked into himself, his whole body collapsing inwards, he would have been a mess on the floor had it not been for his father. Vergil’s hand snaked up his back and into his son’s hair, carding through, keeping him close to his chest. He never said a word, just stood there, allowing his son to express. To let everything out.
That’s what this was. It wasn’t the panic attack he had in the waiting room, it wasn’t the soft sobs of heartbreak and fear by his wife’s bedside, it was a drain being pulled, a lock being unlatched, a vault door swinging open. Nero shook violently as all his worries and fears fell away, like the blood from the demons he hunts washing away in the rain, only for that sensation to be replaced with a warm embrace.
He tried to speak, tried to fight past the stuttering, but Vergil hushed him, still running his fingers through the snowy fields of his hair. Still holding him close. Still just being there. And Nero knew, he could tell, that he would continue to be there. He couldn’t put it into words, or even coherent thoughts. But he just knew, from this day on

Vergil would be there.
A/N: Yay! an update!

So I”m thinking of making a multi-multi again with a coherent list of muses examples of a google doc
thxwxnderer
Guidelines & Muse List
Hello, call me Brett, I am a 25 y/o male from West Can. I am very slow and socially awkward among other things.
I am very much open to shipping but i don’t want it to be my only type of threads. family, conflict and such and such all threads welcome. that being said when it comes to shipping some conditions are present. for one mun and muse should be eighteen + especially for nsfw threads. and another it is illegal and creepy to ship with muns who are under eighteen and neither would i want to.
nsfw themes will be present. there is teenage angst, angst about named after someone who became a dictator and of course angst of war and trauma and so forth so yes nsfw will be present ask if you want anything specifically tagged so you can filter the post out.
Let’s have fun.that is what we are here so let’s not have drama or fighting. so i am always open for plotting and will respect a muns choice to do or not do a specific thread or plot point.

Tumblr media
name:  Emma
nickname: Em, E, You Little Shitℱ
faceclaim: i used to use like... elsa. but now i just kinda use whatever i got handy, and bc this is my only active blog rn, i only have dylan oops.
pronouns: she/her
height:  5’7
birthday:  August 7th
aesthetic:  ummm... tech-y, lime/black, crop tops/leather jackets, dark lipstick OR soft blues, flannel shirts/short shorts, starry skies, witchy
last song you listened to: Follow You by Bring Me the Horizon
favorite muse(s) you’ve written: OOF... Colton for sure, but I also REALLY miss my Wirt @wxywxrd and my Dick Grayson/Robin/Nightwing @circusbirdie / @bxrdbrain
getting  to  know  the  account
what inspired you to take on this muse: idk i have a real passion for the FNAF games, and the concept of the kid from the fourth game really just stuck with me. like what would happen if he survived long enough to grow up? how would he cope with his newfound disorders, the stigma surrounding the pizzeria AND his accident? and the best part of the FNAF franchise is that the actual canon is SO VAGUE that everybody’s interpretation is different! so then when theory after theory came about that provided some real good arguments for the character I originally based Colton on to be the son of the purple guy?? OH BOY IT TOOK OFF FROM THERE
what are your favourite aspects of your current muse(s): i love that i can take a character that’s really become more or less iconic in the FNAF franchise and totally turn it on its head in some ways-- make it my own. but also, Colton’s struggle with emotions and maintaining his humanity is amazingly fun. getting to play into him being a night guard despite having once been a victim of the pizzeria; watching him slowly put all the pieces together to solve the murders of his childhood friends; developing friendships and romantic relationships that I certainly never thought he’d have. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
what’s your biggest inspiration when it comes to writing: chatting with people ooc really fUELS MY FIRE if u guys haven’t noticed by all the fucking memes lmao
favourite types of threads: ....emma’s a SLUT for angst lmao. but i’ll also do really fun or fluffy stuff!! those are fun!! i do enjoy threads with Colton specifically that are him and another stuck together at Fazbear’s for the night; testing Colton’s patience levels lol
biggest struggle in regards to your current muse: eh, it’s always replies !! i don’t like to keep anybody waiting, but i also know that trying to respond to things when i’m just not feeling it (especially longer ones !! bc i love longer threads, but i gotta be...... THERE) is just gonna cause me to have a Bad Time

Tumblr media
For the week of 7 January 2019
Quick Bits:
Aliens: Dust to Dust #4 concludes this series from Gabriel Hardman, Rain Beredo, and Michael Heisler. It’s been very good, capturing the feel and atmosphere of the first two Alien films and delivering a very taut horror-thriller. Absolutely gorgeous artwork from Hardman and Beredo.
| Published by Dark Horse
Tumblr media
Atomic Robo: Dawn of a New Era #1 isn’t a bad jumping on point. It doesn’t really get you up to speed on the past of the series, but you also don’t really need to have read any of it to enjoy this story. Great humour and interesting tidbits of science and history as usual from Brian Clevinger, Scott Wegener, Shannon Murphy, and Jeff Powell.
| Published by IDW
Tumblr media
Avengers #12 works to build up Black Panther’s “Agents of Wakanda” to serve as a support network for information and grunt work throughout the world to feed the Avengers team proper. It’s an interesting use of otherwise lesser-used characters from Jason Aaron and definitely broadens the scope of the overall series.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Barbarella/Dejah Thoris #1 is a very good beginning to this series from Leah Williams, GermĂĄn GarcĂa, Addison Duke, and Crank!. Williams captures the tone and feel of both characters very well through their dialogue and the artwork from GarcĂa and Duke is impressive.
| Published by Dynamite
Tumblr media
Batman #62 is the second part of “Knightmares”, which near as I can tell is going to be a series of one-off stories by an array of brilliant artists with Batman as filtered through some strange psycho-thriller lens (or at least the first two parts adhere to that ethos). It’s good, but it’s weird. Great art from Mitch Gerads as Tom King keeps us off balance and at arms length with the narrative confusion.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Birthright #35 concludes this arc with an epic battle between Brennan and Mikey, as Brennan confronts his family, cutting deep into the resentment that Brennan has felt for his brother. The art from Andrei Bressan and Adriano Lucas is amazing.
| Published by Image / Skybound
Tumblr media
Bitter Root #3 continues to be thoroughly excellent in every conceivable way, presenting a compelling mystery in the origins of the Jinoo, an interesting family drama delving into more of the history and interpersonal foibles of the Sangerye family, and it’s just an entertaining supernatural schlockfest on top of all of that. David F. Walker, Chuck Brown, Sanford Greene, Rico Renzi, and Clayton Cowles are delivering one hell of a story here. Oh, and the art from Greene and Renzi is stunning.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
The Black Order #3 shifts to the perspective of Black Dwarf here, and like the first issue, plays off a narrative that is contrary to what you’d expect. Where Glaive thought himself a comedian, Black Dwarf is more contemplative, wondering if his thoughts and desires are who he is, or if he’s merely the brute that others see. It’s interesting, even as it continues the ongoing plot of trying to destroy the Sinnarian Empire.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
By Night #7 takes an interesting turn as Heather’s father and uncle take a moment to act as exterminators and she and Jane try to rescue Barney from a mob boss. Love the humour as always from John Allison’s script, especially as he adds some unexpected elements. Very nice design and presentation of the bug from Eidolon by Christine Larsen and Sarah Stern.
| Published Boom Entertainment / BOOM! Box
Tumblr media
Captain Marvel #1 is a fun relaunch, perfectly mixing humour, action, and interpersonal drama as Kelly Thompson, Carmen Carnero, Tamra Bonvillain, and Clayton Cowles bring Carol back to New York. Beautiful colours throughout from Bonvillain, really making Carnero’s line art shine.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Criminal #1 is a very welcome return to the Lawless family, as Ed Brubaker, Sean Phillips, and Jacob Phillips weave a tale of Ricky stealing an old thief’s necklace trying to bail Teeg out of jail, only to wind up in even more hot water than he began in. You don’t need to have read any of the previous volumes of Criminal before, but I still highly recommend that you do since they’re awesome.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
The Curse of Brimstone #10 gives us some more answers as Annie confronts Wandering Jack to get information on the Salesman and to figure out a way to possibly save her brother. This is still a weird series, but Justin Jordan, Eduardo Pansica, JĂșlio Ferreira, Rain Beredo, and Wes Abbott have definitely been making it interesting.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Deathstroke #39 gears us up for the conclusion next issue by positing that from Slade’s point of view what he’s claimed happened actually did happen, as the disparate threads converge. It’s interesting as to how Priest has been staging this story.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Die #2 is brilliant. As good as the first issue was, and it was really damn good, this one is even better as we get the exposed to some of the rules of this fantasy world and thrown headlong into the seamless world building of this realm. Kieron Gillen, Stephanie Hans, and Clayton Cowles have something truly magical here, taking a childhood love of science fiction and fantasy, and subverting it into something that can hurt us like weaponized nostalgia. It is absolutely stunning.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
Faith: Dreamside #4 is a very strong conclusion to this mini from Jody Houser, MJ Kim, Jordie Bellaire, and Dave Sharpe. The entire series has looked good, but Kim and Bellaire really take it to another level with this finale, the confrontation of Belu is just incredible.
| Published by Valiant
Tumblr media
The Freeze #2 is probably better than the first issue and it was an incredibly debut, from Dan Wickline, Phillip Sevy, and Troy Peteri. I absolutely love that the focus isn’t on the freeze itself or what caused it, and is instead about the people living in the world and the problems that this kind of apocalypse could cause. It’s smart and leads to some very compelling character drama and complications.
| Published by Image / Top Cow
Tumblr media
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1 is amazing. Spectacular even. This is a very heartfelt and humorous debut from Tom Taylor, Juann Cabal, Nolan Woodard, and Travis Lanham that takes Spider-Man down to the local level, spotlighting his, well, neighbourhood. There’s also a back-up from Taylor, Marcelo Ferreira, Roberto Poggi, Jim Campbell, and Lanham that could well be a game-changer.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
The Green Lantern #3 continues to be one hell of trip from Grant Morrison, Liam Sharp, Steve Oliff, and Tom Orzechowski. It still feels like something out of a different time, but that’s part of what really makes this work.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Gunning for Hits #1 is a pretty dense beginning to what’s apparently a crime drama mixed with the music industry, not at all like Empire because I know that’s probably what many would think. It’s seedier, grittier, down at the street level, but as I say, this is dense. This first issue has a lot of narration, a lot of dialogue, and a great number of pages that more or less outline how signing deals work in a how-to format. It’s unique, blending some of the hallmarks of something like an autobio comic with a more standard narrative approach. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what Jeff Rougvie, Moritat, and Casey Silver do for a second number.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
Hit-Girl #12 is the bloody conclusion to Rafael Scavone, Rafael Albuquerque, Marcel Maiolo, and Clem Robins’ “Rome” arc with Mindy and Paola confronting the corrupt convent. Absolutely beautiful artwork from Albuquerque and Maiolo, with even time for one last twist in the tale.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
House Amok #4 features some very impressive artwork from Shawn McManus and Lee Loughridge as the story takes and interesting path as it heads towards the conclusion. Christopher Sebela has been giving us an interesting look at this world through Dylan as the scales fell from her eyes, but this one makes us wonder, what if the family isn’t really crazy.
| Published by IDW / Black Crown
Tumblr media
Justice League #15 heats things up on Hawkworld with a very interesting revelation about Shayera and Thanagar Prime, along with a deeper mystery about the multiverse. It really makes me wonder what James Tynion IV and Scott Snyder are getting at. Gorgeous art throughout from Jim Cheung, Stephen Segovia, Mark Morales, Tomeu Morey, and Wil Quintana.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
The Last Siege #8 is the brutal conclusion to this series that has been a practical masterclass in storytelling, from character development through pacing, atmosphere and execution. This series has just been incredible. Landry Q. Walker, Justin Greenwood, Brad Simpson, and Patrick Brosseau stick the landing with one hell of a finale.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
Man Without Fear #2 continues to tear Matt Murdock apart as he finds ways not to deal very well with being hit by a truck. And gives in to fear. Great art from Stefano Landini and Andres Mossa as Matt’s nightmares come to life.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Martian Manhunter #2 continues to be a bit of a slow burn, parcelling out a bit about the in-story present and then delving into more about J’onn’s past on Mars, building up Martian culture and what they were taking from Earth even in our ancient past. The art from Riley Rossmo and Ivan Plascencia is amazing.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Miles Morales: Spider-Man #2 is another great issue as Miles and the Rhino team-up to track down the missing kids. Saladin Ahmed does an amazing job of humanizing Rhino and making us empathize with his plight. The art from Javier Garrón and David Curiel is again very impressive.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Moth & Whisper #5 concludes this series from Ted Anderson, Jen Hickman, and Marshall Dillon. While it does bring the story to a satisfying resolution, it still leaves open the door for more to come, which I’d love to see.
| Published by AfterShock
Tumblr media
Murder Falcon #4 delivers some pretty big revelations as the reunited Brooticus faces off against Magnum Khaos. It goes about as well as you’d expect. Daniel Warren Johnson, Mike Spicer, and Rus Wooton are really nailing the heartfelt character beats in amongst the over-the-top monster battles.
| Published by Image / Skybound
Tumblr media
Oblivion Song #11 deals with the fallout of Ed’s transference of another piece of Philly over to Oblivion. Gorgeous artwork as always from Lorenzo De Felici and Annalisa Leoni, particularly during the creature battles.
| Published by Image / Skybound
Tumblr media
Outer Darkness #3 continues to show us how this universe works as the crew try to salvage a derelict vessel on a supposedly barren rock. This mix of horror and science fiction is wonderful and John Layman, Afu Chan, and Pat Brosseau are really creating something unique here.
| Published by Image / Skybound
Tumblr media
The Punisher #6 begins the next leg of Frank’s ongoing nightmares with the first part of “War in Bagalia” from Matthew Rosenberg, Szymon Kudranski, Antonio Fabela, and Cory Petit. I’ve really been enjoying what Rosenberg has been doing since the “War Machine” arc and it just seems to be getting better. There’s some really intriguing things about a nation run by Baron Zemo here.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Red Sonja #25 ends this volume with another one-off tale with Red Sonja ferrying a musician to a ship on the coast from Amy Chu, Erik Burnham, Carlos Gomez, Mohan, and Taylor Esposito. It’s a curious story of longing for home that allows for a little bit of reflection on the series, but it doesn’t ruminate on it long.
| Published by Dynamite
Tumblr media
Self/Made #2 doesn’t have the luxury of the twist of the first issue, so has to work harder to get past that “I see dead people” Sixth Sense moment, and, really, it does. This is just a damned good story, playing with sci-fi and fantasy elements, blended seamlessly due to it all being a representation of game development. Mat Groom, Eduardo Ferigato, Marcelo Costa, and Troy Peteri are doing some great work here.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
Sleepless #11 brings all of the plots and machinations to an end as Sarah Vaughn, Leila Del Duca, Alissa Sallah, Gabe Fischer, and Deron Bennett bring the series to an end. Some very interesting bits of tradition, change, and resentment towards monarchy.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider #4 is an epilogue to the “Spider-Geddon” event, paying tribute and burying the fallen. It’s a very haunting story, making you wonder if Gwen’s going to take a darker turn in the future. Seanan McGuire, Rosi KĂ€mpe, Takeshi Miyazawa, Ian Herring, and Clayton Cowles do a wonderful saying goodbye to various parts of the Spider-Verse.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Star Wars: Age of Republic - Jango Fett #1 is this week’s one-shot exploring various characters around the Star Wars canon. Jody Houser, Luke Ross, Java Tartaglia, and Travis Lanham give us a decent story of betrayal and consequences with Jango and Boba Fett.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Star Wars Adventures: Destroyer Down #3 concludes this mini from Scott Beatty, Derek Charm, Jon Sommariva, Sean Parsons, Matt Herms, and Tom B. Long. It’s been interesting to see the two time periods of the stories play against one other with events in the past informing those in the present.
| Published by IDW
Tumblr media
Thor #9 is somewhat of a companion piece to this week’s Avengers #12, setting up Roz Solomon as another Agent of Wakanda, but you don’t need to read both of them to enjoy them individually. This one delivers a lot of information on what’s going on in regards to the build up of the “War of the Realms” in addition to giving Roz a new purpose and changed outlook. Gorgeous artwork from Mike del Mundo.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Turok #1 is an entertaining reimagining of the series from Ron Marz, Roberto Castro, Salvatore Aiala, and Troy Peteri, somewhat in line with the original Valiant interpretation, albeit moving it forward to the late 1800â€Čs. Quite like the art from Castro and Aiala. Castro’s art reminds me a bit of a cross between Joe Kubert, Bart Sears, and Jordi Bernet.
| Published by Dynamite
Tumblr media
United States vs. Murder Inc. #5 paints a very bleak picture for the next stage in the US government’s war against the crime families following the assassination of the President. Wonderful work on tone and atmosphere from Brian Michael Bendis, Michael Avon Oeming, Taki Soma, and Carlos M. Mangual.
| Published by DC Comics / Jinxworld
Tumblr media
Web of Venom: Venom Unleashed #1 is a pair of tales spotlighting the new dog-form of the symbiote as he chases down people infected by Carnage, then Cletus’ perspective on it, from Ryan Stegman, Kyle Hotz, Juan Gedeon, Marc Deering, Scott Hanna, Livesay, Roberto Poggi, Victor Olazaba, Dan Brown, Matt Yackey, Andrew Crossley, Carlos Cabrera, and Clayton Cowles. Really nice to see Hotz’s art here.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
William Gibson’s Alien 3 #3 has the crap hit the proverbial fan as meddling with the xenomorphs begins to bear its deadly fruit. Johnnie Christmas, Tamra Bonvillain, and Nate Piekos are doing such an amazing job at adapting this for comics, it makes me kind of sad that it wasn’t the direction the films took.
| Published by Dark Horse
Tumblr media
Wizard Beach #2 continues the fun of the first issue, with Hex trying to get off the beach, build himself a castle, and hunt down tasty, delicious rats for lunch to no avail. Nice bits of humour and the introduction of a girl who Hex might well be smitten with, as well as a darker mystery involving her grandfather’s wand. Great art from Conor Nolan, Chad Lewis, and Meg Casey.
| Published by BOOM! Studios
Tumblr media
The Wrong Earth #5 has both of the dimension-displaced Dragonflies(flymen) continue to attempt to get back to their respective homes. Also, through flashbacks and monologues, I kind of get the impression that Tom Peyer is trying to tell us that both of them are thoroughly insane. There’s also the usual back-up comic and prose text pieces to round out the issue.
| Published by Ahoy
Tumblr media
Young Justice #1 is the launch vehicle of the new Brian Michael Bendis-driven Wonder Comics line. If you look at it from a perspective of DC’s continuity, it’s probably very confusing. Many of the characters seem to be in their pre-New 52, even potentially pre-Infinite Crisis forms, Gemworld is attacking, Amethyst seems particularly bloodthirsty, and we’ve got a couple of inexplicable legacy characters in Jinny Hex and Teen Lantern, but...I think that confusion, that chaos and frenetic energy, is part of the point, since at the onset, the invaders from Gemworld are aware of the shifts in the multiverse. So maybe give it a chance to develop from there are clue us in on what’s ultimately going on? Regardless, there’s gorgeous action, interesting layouts, and fascinating design work from Patrick Gleason and Alejandro Sanchez.

Old Dogs is a 2009 American ensemble comedy film directed by Wild Hogs's Walt Becker and starring John Travolta and Robin Williams with an ensemble supporting cast played by Kelly Preston, Matt Dillon, Justin Long, Seth Green, Rita Wilson, Dax Shepard, Lori Loughlin, and Bernie Mac. It was released in theaters on November 25, 2009 and was released on DVD March 9, 2010.
The movie is dedicated to both Bernie Mac (who died in August 2008 and had his final acting role in the film) and Jett Travolta (John Travolta's son who died in January 2009). The film grossed $96.7 million worldwide on a $35 million budget.[1]
Canadian rocker Bryan Adams wrote the theme song for the film, "You've Been a Friend to Me".
At the 30th Golden Raspberry Awards ceremony, Old Dogs was nominated in four categories: Worst Picture, Worst Actor for John Travolta, Worst Supporting Actress for Kelly Preston and Worst Director for Walt Becker.

Plot
Dan Rayburn (Robin Williams) and Charlie Reed (John Travolta) are best friends and co-owners of a successful sports marketing firm. Seven years prior, Dan, recently divorced, married Vicki (Kelly Preston) after being whisked away by Charlie for a tropical vacation. The marriage, however, is short lived. Seven years later, Vicki resurfaces to tell Dan that their short marriage resulted in something he never suspected: twins Zach (Conner Rayburn) and Emily (Ella Bleu Travolta).
Vicki, facing jail time for her work as an environmental activist, asks Dan to take care of the kids while she does her time. Thinking this might be his chance to get back with Vicki, Dan agrees, but only if Charlie will help him since neither have any experience taking care of kids. At the same time, the two must finalize a huge marketing deal with a Japanese company; something they've always dreamed of, but will take all of their talents to clinch.
Because Dan's condo does not allow children, he has to board with Charlie. Whilst this is happening, Charlie and Dan are close to securing the biggest account in the history of their careers with the Japanese corporation. Charlie and Dan's attempts to take care of the kids are well-intentioned, but very misguided. On a trip with the kids to an overnight camp, a hard-nosed camp instructor (Matt Dillon) becomes convinced that Dan and Charlie are homosexual partners. The trip ends with a bang after Dan accidentally sets a beloved statue of the camp's founder on fire.
The kids then proceed to spill and replace Charlie and Dan's prescriptions, mixing them up in the process. Dan then must play a game of golf with the Japanese executives while experiencing extreme side effects and Charlie tries to woo Amanda (Lori Loughlin) with a face frozen by the pills.
Desperate to help Dan communicate with the children despite his inexperience with children, Charlie recruits his friend Jimmy Lunchbox (Bernie Mac), a flamboyant children's entertainer, who is famous around the world. Jimmy comes by and straps Dan and Charlie in motion control puppet suits so Charlie can help Dan make all the right moves with his daughter while having a tea party. The suits malfunction, but Dan speaks from the heart, winning over Emily but his speech makes Jimmy emotional. Everything is great with Vicki as she returns home upon having served time in jail. However, the guys have sealed their Japanese deal, sending junior associate Craig (Seth Green) to Tokyo. When Craig goes missing after arriving there, Charlie and Dan must fly to Tokyo themselves to work. Dan must leave the kids and Vicki despite his (and their) desire to be a family.
Once in Tokyo, Dan realizes that what he really wants is to be a good father. He leaves the meeting without sealing the deal, rushing with Charlie to Vermont for the kids' birthday party. They aren't able to get into the Burlington Zoo in time and are forced to break in with the help of Craig. However, they mistakenly wind up in the gorilla enclosure. Though Dan and Charlie escape, Craig is captured by the gorilla (which takes a strong liking to him).
Dan then pays a birthday party performer hired by Vicki to use his jet pack and suit, flies into the ceremony and wins his kids back over. When the jet pack stops working in mid-air, he is taken to an ambulance on a stretcher. One year later, Dan and Vicki are together, Charlie has married Amanda, and Craig has become like a new "uncle" to the kids.

Reception
Critical response
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a rating of 5%, based on 108 reviews, with an average rating of 2.3/10. The site's consensus reads, "Its cast tries hard, but Old Dogs is a predictable, nearly witless attempt at physical comedy and moral uplift that misses the mark on both counts."[2] The film was ranked number three on their list of the ten most moldy films of 2009.[3] At Metacritic, Old Dogs received an aggregated rating of 19 out of 100, based on 22 reviews, indicating "overwhelming dislike."[4]
Film critic Roger Ebert gave Old Dogs a rating of one star out of a possible four.[5] Ebert opened his review commenting, "'Old Dogs' is stupefying dimwitted. What were John Travolta and Robin Williams thinking of? Apparently their agents weren't perceptive enough to smell the screenplay in its advanced state of decomposition".[5]
The Salt Lake Tribune gave Old Dogs a rating of zero stars out of a possible four, and criticized the film for "hammy acting and sledgehammer editing".[6] Film critic Roger Moore of The Orlando Sentinel gave Old Dogs a rating of one and a half stars out of a possible four.[7] "Trashing Old Dogs is a bit like kicking a puppy. But here goes. The new comedy from some of the folks who brought us Wild Hogs is badly written and broadly acted, shamelessly manipulative and not above stopping by the toilet for a laugh or two," wrote Moore.[7]
Bill Goodykoontz of The Star Press gave the film a critical review, and commented, "Old Dogs, which stars Robin Williams and John Travolta as a couple of aging bachelors who suddenly have twins thrust upon them, delivers everything you’d expect. Which is: not much."[8] He concluded his review with, "Let’s hope Williams, Travolta and the rest got a fabulous payday for Old Dogs. Because otherwise, you know, woof."[8] In a review for The Arizona Republic, Goodykoontz gave the film a rating of one and a half stars out of a possible five.[9]
Writing for the San Jose Mercury News in an analysis of movies that were released around Thanksgiving, Randy Myers placed Old Dogs below "The Scraps: Leftovers that should be immediately placed in Fido's bowl."[10] Myers commented, "We have a winner in the Thanksgiving movie turkey contest."[10] Dennis Harvey of Variety wrote, "Too bad this shrilly tuned comedy doesn't demand more than clock-punching effort from everyone involved."[11] Tim Robey of The Telegraph savaged the film, saying, "Old Dogs is so singularly dreadful it halts time, folds space and plays havoc with the very notion of the self."[12] He added to the review, "Being a film critic is a wonderful job, but there are weeks when the bad film delirium strikes and we’d all be better off in straitjackets. A colleague opined to me the other day that this might be the deadliest run of releases in his 20-year history on the job, and I can completely see that." He also said, "You'd have to hate your family to take them to this!" He gave the film zero stars.
Writing for The Philadelphia Inquirer, Carrie Rickey gave the film a rating of two and a half stars out of four.[13] Rickey commented of the multiple cameos in the film, "A child of 5 can see that these brief appearances serve to pad a gauze-thin script."[13] The review concluded, "Old Dogs may not be good. But the sight of pesky penguins pecking Travolta and Green in the embrace of an unlikely partner makes it just good enough."[13] Pete Hammond of Boxoffice gave the film 3/5 stars, and concluded, "Old Dogs may not reach the box office heights of Wild Hogs but its fun family friendly attitude should guarantee a healthy holiday haul."[14]
Box office
In its first day, Old Dogs opened in fifth place, with a take of $3.1 million.[15][16] It was beat out in first-day box office results by New Moon, The Blind Side, 2012, and Ninja Assassin.[15][16] The film came in fourth in its second day with $4.1 million, for a two-day pickup of $7.2 million.[17] The film remained in fourth place for its third day, with a box office take of $6.8 million.[18] Overall, the film grossed $96,753,696 worldwide on a budget of $35,000,000.[19]
The movie was also a moderate success on DVD, gaining more than $20,000,000 (20 million dollars) domestically during its first two months of release.[20]

" it's not much, but... " things have been good between them lately, more than good. so he holds out a slender box ( it's wrapping leaving a little to be desired // but isn't the saying it's what inside that counts?? ) a small smile lifting his lips and crinkling the corners of his eyes. it was a simple gift : a delicate shawl patterned with birds. something he spotted in town and she immediately came to mind. " happy mother's day."
Tumblr media
she doesn’t expect anything from dylan — a text, maybe, if he’s feeling kind enough, but not THIS. just to see him is nice, to find he’s coming for dinner is even nicer, but a gift? norma can’t remember the last time he gave her something ( too long ago, when dylan was still young enough to fight for her love and norma was too G O N E to care ) so excuse the smile, ear-splitting and toothy. “for me?” her voice is small, caught in her throat but it’s BIG, too, overflowing with affection. things have changed between them, he looks at her now and she doesn’t feel so guilty, so angry — finally, she just sees him.
“dylan, you didn’t have to get me anything...” that won’t stop her from peeling at the wrapping, not bothering to notice how very him it is, the overwrapping at the corners and the terrible tape job. the box’s lid is discarded, too, and norma is left staring down at what she already knows is a shawl; she’s seen it in the window of a boutique in the village, spread across the shoulders of a dummy. she thought it was so lovely how the dark birds sat calm against the robin’s egg blue threads, ready to take flight . she’s even stopped in once, tempted to try it on, only she never did; once on her shoulders, norma knew she would never be able to take it off. now, she wouldn’t have to.
“it’s... beautiful, dylan. really —— thank you...”

off the rack #1300
Monday, February 10, 2020
I was waiting for our new comic shipment Tuesday morning when I realised that I have been working in comic book retailing for 40 years now. That answers the question grade 8 me had while sitting in Social Studies class while I was at Glashan Public School. I am so lucky to have landed in a job that I love and am still doing. Who would not want to work somewhere where you get 52 Christmases a year?
Young Justice #13 - Brian Michael Bendis & David F. Walker (writers) Michael Avon Oeming, Mike Grell & John Timms (art) Gabe Eltaeb (colours) Wes Abbott (letters). Conner gets life lessons from Travis Morgan/Warlord in Skartaris while his team mates come up with a plan to hit S.T.A.R. Labs to try to get him back. The mission gets a few more rescuers so next issue will be wall to wall heroes.
Black Cat #9 - Jed MacKay (writer) Kris Anka (art) Brian Reber (colours) Ferran Delgado (letters). Boy, I haven't heard that alias in a while. Felicia lands in Madripoor to steal a painting. The last know owner is a guy named Patch. You got that right. It's a Black Cat and Wolverine team-up. I was wondering where Kris Anka would go next after he left Runaways.
Lois Lane #8 - Greg Rucka (writer) Mike Perkins (art) Gabe Eltaeb (colours) Simon Bowland (letters). The two-page spread where Rene Montoya fights the skull-headed assassin was poetry in motion. No words necessary. Lois is proving herself without her hubby's help in this book.
Daredevil #17 - Chip Zdarsky (writer) Jorge Fornes (art) Nolan Woodard (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). Just call Matt Murdock the Red Robin Hood. He and Elektra stole from the Stromwyns and gave to the people of Hell's Kitchen. The bad guys don't get mad, they're going to get even. Their solution to their Daredevil problem has me all aquiver.
Doctor Doom #5 - Christopher Cantwell (writer) Salvador Larroca (art) Guru-eFX (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). I may not like the return of ruthless dictator Doom but I sure do like the art in this book. I'm also not a fan of the time hopping Kang but his presence makes things interesting. This is one book that I would stop reading if the art wasn't so nice.
Batman #88 - James Tynion IV (writer) Guillem March (art) Tomeu Morey (colours) Clayton Cowles (letters). Oh man, this story just keeps getting better and better. Catwoman is exhuming a body while talking to the Riddler. You won't believe who's resting in peace. Meanwhile, the Penguin makes a grave error in not killing Deathstroke. Finally, when it looks like Selina is going to be buried alive, someone comes to her rescue. Waiting around to find out who the Designer is adds to the fun.
Miles Morales: Spider-Man #15 - Saladin Ahmed (writer) Javier Garron (art) David Curiel (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). If you're a fan of big bad super villains fighting super heroes then this issue is for you. The new Green Goblin trashes Miles's school looking for Spider-Man. Huge fight, then bad guy runs away. Miles's secret identity could be compromised during the debacle. This one had me guessing.
Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity #3 - Kami Garcia (writer) Mico Suayan & Jason Badower (art) Annette Kwok (colours) Richard Starkings of Comicraft (letters). I love this serial killer mystery and not just because the art is so pretty. The alternating black and white pages with the colour pages highlights the two main characters, Doctor Quinn the profiler and John Kelly the possible psychopath. I can't wait to see if the killer gets caught.
Ant-Man #1 - Zeb Wells (writer) Dylan Burnett (art) Mike Spicer (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). I like Scott Lang but I don't like loser Scott Lang and that's the Scott Lang that's in this new 5-issue mini. This story starts with him and his son Stinger making a drug bust. When did he get a son? Scott is hired later to find out why bees are disappearing which leads to him fighting Swarm. They lost me when they introduced three new bad guys: Vespa the spectre of hornets, Thread the Silkworm ghoul and Tusk the Rhino beetle hulk. Stinger is in 4 pages and then poof, he's gone. Scott's daughter Cassie shows up and then she exits stage left. The three insect themed villains crawl out from under a rock with no explanation so all the nonsense turned me off. This is supposed to be fun but I just found it dumb.
Dark Agnes #1 - Becky Cloonan (writer) Luca Pizzari (art) Jay David Ramos (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). This is bad. I expected a lot better from Becky Cloonan. I did not find the adventures of the red-headed swordswoman in 16th Century France to be very appealing. Agnes was okay in short doses teamed up with Conan in Serpent War but this solo story bored me. Here's another 5-issue mini that I'll take a pass on.
Conan: Battle for the Serpent Crown #1 - Saladin Ahmed (writer) Luke Ross (art) Nolan Woodard (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). It must the week for new 5-issue minis from Marvel to hit the racks because here's another one. Conan's adventures in the modern world continues as his wandering brings him to Las Vegas. He's tazered by the guards while trying to rob an armoured truck but is saved by a fellow thief named Nyla. They then decide to team up and rob a hotel of money and jewels but someone beats them to the booty. That someone and the surprise villain at the end of this issue was enough to make me want to read the next issue.
The Immortal Hulk: Great Power #1 - Tom Taylor (writer) Jorge Molina (pencils) Adriano Di Benedetto & Roberto Poggi (inks) David Curiel (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). Attention Immortal Hulk and Amazing Spider-Man fans; this $4.99 US one-shot featuring an amalgam of the Hulk and Spider-Man is well worth adding to your collection. You will discover that Tom Taylor is an excellent writer and this story of friendship and camaraderie is a nice change from the typical super heroes fighting. The guest stars are fun too.
Marauders #7 - Gerry Duggan (writer) Stefano Caselli (art) Edgar Delgado (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). I know that I said that I was going to bench this book but there were rack copies left over after pulling subs and I can't resist a book with nice art. I still think there's too much going on plot-wise that makes following storylines difficult and I hate when I see art mistakes. Emma is wearing sexy thong panties in one panel and 5 panels later she's wearing granny underwear. I think Stefano's original drawing in the later panel wasn't chaste enough for someone at Marvel/Disney.
X-Men/Fantastic Four #1 - Chip Zdarsky (writer) Terry Dodson (pencils) Rachel Dodson (inks) Dexter Vines & Karl Story (ink assist) Laura Martin (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). I've been looking forward to this 4-issue mini to hit the racks because I like both the writer and artists involved. This story establishes that Franklin Richards is a mutant. Charles Xavier thinks Franklin should be with his kinfolk on Krakoa. Reed and Sue don't want their teenage son to be away from his family. Instant drama. When Franklin stows away on Kitty's ship returning to Krakoa you know more super hero fights are in the future. But first we have a super villain attack. I thought it was Doc Ock since the attack happens at sea but I was wrong. I'm reading the rest of this to see how the two teams resolve their differences.
Batman 100-Page Giant #3 - These $4.99 US one-shots are a great value. There are two new stories in this and 3 lengthy reprints. I consider these excellent teasers for the trade collections on the shelves if you want to get the whole story.
DC's Crimes of Passion #1 - This may not seem like a good deal at $9.99 US for just 80 pages but there are 10 new stories inside featuring more Batman heroes and villains than you can count on two hands. Please don't be discouraged by the cheesy cover, none of the stories inside are that bad.
