It’s #thursday3! Here are three things about right now: 1. I snapped this selfie on Tuesday while I was getting numb in the dentist chair for my first ever filling. And it wasn’t even for a cavity! I had a tiny crack in my back molar that is apparently very normal but feels too much like a sign that I’m at the age where everything starts falling apart. 😝 I consider myself very lucky to have needed as little dental work as I have had as an adult, but thanks to some residual childhood dentist-related trauma, this was a pretty un-fun experience. Feeling brave for getting through it. 2. I’m not sure how we blinked and ended up in June, but it’s here, which means that #scrappychristmasinjuly is right around the corner! My album is done early this year (!!!), but I’m looking forward to sharing my pages and seeing what everyone else is working on. 3. We’ve been watching old episodes of King of the Hill lately, and I’m having fun honing my Bobby Hill impression. Sometimes, I dream about the life I missed out on as a cartoon voice actor. Oh gosh, it's Thursday and I haven't posted on here in a while. I took some new "selfie" photos of myself recently, so I'll do a little #thursday3 and share a few things... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ My contract with Little Island ends this month and while I’m both sad to be leaving and bummed I won’t have a job, I’m looking forward to all the time I have to make myself create. And I say “make myself” because procrastination is a thing and enemy to us all, and if I’m not actively getting myself to create things, I just don’t. So here’s to actively creating and hopefully finally getting a lot of ideas out into the world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ Speaking of ideas…I’ve launched my very first one recently. I made a Patreon-like membership over on my website where I’ll be sharing some exclusive content each month. My monthly printables are back and will be exclusive for my patrons. I’m both excited and nervous about this ongoing project, but I’ve been wanting to try this out for a while now, so what better time than now to do so! The next day not so much, but it was nice to take a few new photos while feeling good finally! This one “outtake” was my favorite! It's still so very strange and amazing how life just ebbs and flows. Hi everyone! This is my first time taking part in the #thursday3 challenge hosted by @rukristin . Thanks @fern.and.oak.art for tagging me! This is a “right now” selfie plus three facts about what’s going on in my world. 1. I am drinking that first morning cup of tea which is pretty much sacred to me. This is the thing that carries me gently from the world of dreams into the waking daylight world. Today’s brew: earl grey from @theeastindiacompany which is hands down the best earl grey tea in the universe. 2. I recently got back from an intense yoga retreat up a mountain in France. Each day we did over 7 hours of yoga asana and pranayama. Since I got back I’ve been really lazy! Lots of time in pyjamas and zero yoga practice. I guess this brings some sort of balance into the picture? 3. I’m reading a wonderful book called “Saved by a poem” by Kim Rosen, recommended to me by the lovely @kiki_kickin . I am falling in love with poetry once again. I had forgotten for a while what an incredible magical tonic it is for my soul. Revamped Happy Mail stickers! I was on a role with being creative and was like.. Why are all my mail stickers the same type of envelope? NO HAPPY MAIL COMES IN ALL FORMS. He's called Ralphie and comes to work / be adorable in our office now and again. Ralphie makes any day an awesome day 🐶 2) I'm super into my art journal at the mo. I bought Totems by @dansmoncrane a few days ago and have been thoroughly enjoying spending hours every night diligently working on my art journaling practice. Tachyon well represented at Worldcon 76

Many Tachyon authors and editors will join Tachyon head honcho Jacob Weisman and nearly all the publishing house’s staff in San Jose, CA for WorldCon 76 (August 16-20).

The legendary event, held annually since since 1939 (except for the years 1942 to 1945, during World War II), celebrates science fiction. This years convention features Guests of Honor Spider Robinson, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, Pierre & Sandy Pettinger, Frank Hayes, John Picacio, and Ghosts of Honor Edgar Pangborn and Bob Wilkins.

WorldCon 76 offers a massive selection of readings, signings, and panels.  And be sure to visit the Tachyon tables in the dealer’s room where we’re premiering two new publications (the limited edition chapbook THE KARKADANN TRIANGLE and Nick Mamatas’ new collection THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF EVERYTHING) and hosting a slew of signings.

It’s Thursday, and I actually remembered to snap a selfie to share for @rukristin’s #thursday3! Here are three things about me right now: 1. I went to the office for a meeting today. Masks are required there (yay!), so I joked with a couple of people that it was nice to see more of them, but also less of them, since I’m used to seeing their entire faces in virtual meetings. 2. @atomic_fox and I recently stumbled down a rabbit hole that led us to realize that 1984 was a really iconic year for movies. So all this month, we’ve been specifically watching movies released that year. So far, we’ve watched Police Academy, Purple Rain, Cloak & Dagger, Rhinestone, Top Secret, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and Romancing the Stone, and there are tons more yet to go on the list! 3. My heart is extra heavy this week as some people close to me are going through some really hard times and as we are experiencing these new surges in COVID cases just as so many things are continuing to open back up. I hope everyone who reads this is taking care of themselves and others by getting vaccinated and masking whenever possible, and keeping those in mind who either can’t get a vaccine yet or whose vaccines may be less effective. I have a chatty video up on my Youtube channel today and I liked the thumbnail image so much–it's literally a screenshot from the video–that I'm using it for my #thursday3.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ I'm currently happily playing in these two journals that I'm holding up. One is my #unravelingjournal and the other is what I'm now calling my "touchstones" journal, because it's for the "Here: Touchstones" class with Liz Lamoreux that I'm currently taking.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ My guy got me a Fujifilm Instax SQ6 and I can't wait to play around with it, esp. this summer! It's a step up from my old blue Mini Instax 8 and it takes the square photos instead of the card sized ones! I can also turn off the flash and take double exposures! Maybe if I get real good at taking these analog photos, I might share my favorites here too.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ Lastly, it's my birthday today. I’m sitting at my desk, painting a birthday card for my lovely mother in law who is turning 80 tomorrow. She has always been exceptionally kind and generous towards me and I’m so looking forward to celebrating tomorrow together with her and all the family. 2. My lower back is feeling a bit wobbly today so I’m wandering around with a yoga belt tied tight around my ribs for some extra support. This makes me feel rather Victorian! 3.
