TIGERMAN DOJO BUSTER!!!

So I came across an old newspaper clipping of a team after the JSA, but before the Justice Experience, called the Justice Alliance. They canât have been around long, because we know Captain Comet left Earth early into his career.
But of them, Iâve only ever heard of Comet and Congorilla, though I think Tiger Man might have been part of Guy Gardnerâs hangers on for a time?
Can you tell us anything about them?

The Justice Alliance, like the Justice Experience after them was the proof of a truism in my profession. Once the superheroic cat was let out of the bag, it was impossible to put it back in. Superhuman adventurers and do gooders have existed since the beginning of human records and most likely before they've just gone by the names and categories of humanities Gods and Monsters for millennia up until the 1940s brought them into the limelight of a world that not only required them the most but also made them impossible to fully disbelieve with the advent of worldwide communication and photographic evidence mixed with the general fading of magical thinking in exchange for the growth of science.
Despite the HUAC's best attempts, and even with the passing of the Keene Act, the things that went bump in the night whether they be human crime, occult incursion or invasion from beyond the stars were never going to slink quietly back into the background and evil always summons heroes to challenge it wherever it hides. Even when superheroes were being officially suppressed in the United States, superhuman incidents didn't slow down and eventually when facing a case that was too large for any of the five of them to overcome alone the team known as the Justice Alliance formed. Like you said its first two members are easy. Captain Comet was in reality Adam Blake, mutated by a comet that passed over the place of his birth his mental and physical abilities outstripped those of mortal men. Congorilla was and is African adventurer Bill Glenmorgan part of a profession that doesn't really exist anymore, he had been given a magical ring that at the time allowed him to switch his consciousness between his human self and that of a large, golden haired gorilla.
Prince Ra Man (far left, in green) is a being from the extradimensional Ra-Realm which holds either the Egyptian Gods of myth or beings that greatly resemble them. Swapping places with supernatural detective Mark Merlin, Ra Man was the original nemesis of the villainous Eclipso
Automan (Bronze, robot) was invented by Professor Miller Sterling as one of the earliest public experiments in computer cognition. Working beyond his wildest dreams the robot became self aware, setting itself up as a "Robot for Hire".
Tiger Man (you know which one) is in reality Desmond Farr, when traveling in Bombay (now Mumbai) Desmond and his brother Dean were cursed with the ability to transform into half human tigers with the obvious benefits of the transformation as well as the drawbacks of being a 7 foot bipedal tiger. Their breakup was down to a single large external factor that exacerbated various internal factors among the members.
The Keene Act was still in effect, and importantly, being strictly enforced. Whenever the heroes appeared, even in the aftermath of battle with a known criminal they were assaulted by the police and this hounding by law enforcement only became more pronounced as the team's short career went on. Multiple attempts to establish permanent methods of communication or headquarters for the team were disrupted by police raids and investigations were underway attempting to uncover the heroes' identities where applicable for the sake of prosecuting the "accomplices" among their friends and family.
This ended up encouraging what would be, for the most part, very short careers. Captain Comet, feeling that his advanced abilities pushed him beyond the bounds of earth, left for Space where he became a well beloved hero in many sectors of the galaxy by the time other human heroes would make their way to the stars.
Congorilla would find his home in Central Africa where he had spent most of his adult life, only returning to the larger superhero community in fits and starts until very recently
Prince Ra Man would eventually be called back to his home dimension to take over the throne when that responsibility passed to him.
Automan would, seeing the bigotry and unkindness of modern humanity place himself in stasis until such a time as he judged our species might have grown beyond our cold war hatreds. He is not meant to wake up for nearly 7 decades and his body is in storage at an undisclosed location until then.
Tiger Man would return to India where he would become a guardian of the Indian jungle's many arcane secrets (and generally a defender of India's northern peoples) he has only been spotted recently among the cadre of American adventurer Buck Wargo but he seems to have no interest in giving wider human society another chance, especially not western American society. In the end, the lesson is the same as the Justice Experience. They were there for us when we needed them but we were too afraid of those who would not bend to systems of power, those who stood tall in the name of justice for ALL that we pushed them away and we're all very lucky that the consequences of that decision were not even more dire.

Rufus Thomas Jr. - Tiger Man
'A great Sun Records 78 rpm recording - Rufus Thomas Jr. doing "Tiger Man" (King of The Jungle). Â A July of 1953 release. Â There's a great picture on this "youtube" of Rufus and Elvis having fun on stage. Â It's obvious that Elvis knew where Rock N' Roll originated.'

"Namaste, my friend. Welcome to my court, where all who enter with respect are treated as guests. Enjoy the feast, the company, and the stories shared...just remember, in my domain, every action has its weight. Choose wisely, and you may find yourself in the favor of a Maharaja."

Name: Rakesh Amar Rajput
Titles: Goetia Maharaja (prince)
Gender: Cisgender male
Sexuality: Demisexual
Age: Unknown
Height: Around 7 feet tall
Weight: 300 lbs
Occupation: Personal Hunter of the Morningstar, Keeper of Beasts
Personality:
â˘Rakesh carries himself with the elegance of a prince, but beneath that polished exterior is something wild, something dangerous. He treats life like a hunt: always watching, always planning, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
â˘He respects the Goetia hierarchy on paper, but in his eyes, power should be earned, not handed down like some family heirloom. That said, he knows how to play the game. He keeps his disdain for weak royals hidden when it benefits himâalliances and business deals are worth more than bruised pride.
â˘A master of both charm and intimidation, Rakesh can switch between diplomat and predator in the blink of an eye. He speaks like a ruler, moves like a lord, and when necessary? He fights like a monster.
â˘Heâs obsessed with getting better, stronger, smarter. Whether itâs Hellâs history, battle tactics, or magic, he studies it all, constantly refining his skills. And while he rarely considers anyone his equal, if someone is better? Heâll learn from them. Then surpass them.
Combat & Magic:
â˘Rakesh is a master of Kalaripayattu and several other martial arts, blending agility and raw strength into a brutal, fluid fighting style. His weapon of choice is a scimitar forged from angelic steel, a blade said to carry the screams of the souls he's slain.
â˘He can summon spectral tigers to fight alongside him, amplify his own physical abilities, and create illusions to disorient his enemies.
â˘Rakesh can conjure ethereal blades made of pure energyâweightless, razor-sharp, and able to cut through almost anything before vanishing after use.
â˘He has the ability to merge with shadows, moving swiftly between darkened areas like a ghost.
â˘With a brief moment of focus or meditation, he can levitate a few feet off the ground, giving him an edge in combat or an air of supernatural presence.
â˘He can summon glowing energy nets or ropes that ensnare his opponents. The more they struggle, the tighter the bindings become.
â˘Rakesh is skilled in laying magical traps, inscribing them into the ground or objects. Depending on their purpose, they can restrain, disorient, or even teleport enemies to a predetermined location.
â˘He can summon a thick cloud of dark ash, obscuring vision and muffling soundâperfect for ambushes, escapes, or throwing his enemies into complete chaos.
Relationships:
â˘Queen Vine ( @queen-of-prophecy )
Rakesh adores Vine. His love for her is fierce, consuming, and unwavering, something that could only be compared to the way Lucifer loves Lilith.
To him, she is more than just a lover. What they share goes beyond passion or desire; it's devotion, admiration, and something far deeper than a fleeting romance. They have known each other since way before the Fall, friends and sweet companions, keeping each other company in Heaven or in the garden of Eden.
But after the Fall, they got separated.
At first Rakesh searched for her, but realized that Vine would probably have been disgusted or creeped out by his new beastly form. So he simply observed from afar, waiting for the right moment to present himself to her in a more dignified way.
He wanted to acquire status, wealth and respect first, and he did.
â˘Lucifer ( @themosthatedbeingg )
Rakesh is deeply loyal to Lucifer, treating him with the utmost respect and devotion. He sees the Morningstar not just as his ruler, but as the one who freed him from Heavenâs chains and hypocrisyâa debt he can never fully repay.
He is always ready to stand by Luciferâs side, to fight for him without question, and to serve in whatever way his King requires. Whenever Lucifer needs an escape from the pressures of court, the paparazzi, and the constant noise, Rakesh gladly welcomes him into his palace, ensuring his Majesty can enjoy absolute peace and relaxation.
â˘Stolas ( @principiaastrologik )
Rakesh sees Stolas as an adoptive nephew, given his connection to Vine and his lineage as King Paimonâs son.
He was genuinely sorry when Stolas was cast out of the Goetia, stripped of his title, power, and wealth...all because he dared to follow his heart. Rakesh understands that kind of love. He knows what itâs like to defy expectations for something greater, and for that, he respects Stolas.
To Rakesh, Stolas is bright, sensitive, and intelligent, brimming with potential. But for too long, he lacked the confidence to act on his own desires. Now that heâs finally found the strength to rebel, Rakesh stands firmly by his side, just as he once stood beside Lucifer in his uprising.
â˘Patch the Imp ( @the-smallest-star )
Rakesh doesnât know Patch too well yet, but from their brief interaction, heâs taken a liking to the young imp.
Their heart-to-heart conversation left a good impression: Patch is polite, respectful, and carries a rare positivity that stands out in Hell. His friendly nature is refreshing, and while Rakesh doesnât trust easily, he finds himself genuinely appreciating the impâs presence.
â˘Striker ( @strikers-saloon )
Rakesh first encountered Striker when the imp tried sneaking into his palace, hired by some desperate Goetia to dig up dirt on him. Instead of punishing him, Rakesh flipped the script and hired Striker for himself: if someone wanted information on him, it meant he was worth watching, and he preferred to keep such a resource close.
While Rakesh doesnât always appreciate Strikerâs impertinence, he canât deny the impâs value. Striker is professional, cunning, and dangerously smartâa rare combination in Hell.
Rakesh respects competence above all else, and Striker has certainly proven his worth. However, the Maharaja keeps him on a short leash...he knows better than to fully trust a mercenary with no allegiance but his own.
â˘Octavia ( @a-hell-of-a-time )
Rakesh admires Octavia. She's a bright young woman full of potential, just like her father.
The key difference is that she knows that.
Octavia knows what she's capable of, and yet she isn't arrogant and doesn't abuse her position, unlike her mother and her late uncle.
When he heard that the Princess managed to get back her inheritance by winning a deadly duel against her haughty uncle Andrealphus, Rakesh was thrilled.
Because it was what he did many centuries ago with Orobas.
And she even used the magical, angelical dagger he had gifted her for her wedding to give Andrealphus the fatal blow: how truly poetic.
They have many things in common, and he wishes to help Octavia grow and thrive.
â˘Sarin:
Background:
Before the Fall, Rakesh Amar Rajput had the name of Tamiel, a lesser angel serving under Ariel, tasked with observing the wild beasts and maintaining the balance of nature in Eden. He took his job seriously: this was his purpose, his divine duty. But to his celestial peers? He was just an assistant. A low-tier caretaker. Expendable.
That bitterness festered over time, but the final straw came when God unveiled His ultimate creation: humanity.
From the moment he heard of them, Tamiel hated the idea of humans. To him, they were fragile, selfish, completely unworthy of the dominion God intended to give them. He had spent eons protecting the balance of nature, and now these creaturesâflawed, greedy little thingsâwere going to trample over everything he had maintained? It was absurd.
While the rest of Heaven celebrated, Tamiel argued.
Loudly.
Why should these pathetic beings be placed above all other creatures? What made them so special? His protests escalated into outright defiance, and when he refused to serve humanity, it was the last straw.
God, ever patient, gave him chances to repent. But Tamielâs pride and fury wouldnât let him. So, he was cast out.
And God didnât stop there.
As he fell, he was cursed: twisted into a monstrous form that reflected the creatures he once protected. His body warped: razor-sharp claws, a predatorâs snout, glowing eyes that instilled primal fear. No longer an angel. No longer a guardian. Just a beast.
Hell swallowed him whole, and Tamiel landed in Gluttonyâs untamed wilderness, where his new nature thrived.
Since he now had a different nature, he decided to give himself a new name, but nothing came to mind. Centuries would pass before he'd pick a fitting name for himself, taking it straight from the Hindi culture.
Between the Fall and the development of Indian civilization, he was simply known as Beast King, or the Hunter.
Bitter, vengeful, but never broken, he embraced the monster he had become. He refused to marry into nobility or align with the established families: why should he beg for a seat at the table when he could just take the whole damn thing?
But his ambitions didnât stop at the jungle.
Hellâs nobility disgusted him, and one figure stood out above the rest: Prince Orobas. Everything about him was wrong: his empty ideals, his false righteousness, his pathetic, inherited power.
Rakesh saw him as the perfect target.
So, he pushed him.
He undermined Orobas at every turn, provoked him, chipped away at his authority until the prince had no choice but to respond. And when the time was right, Rakesh issued a formal challenge: a trial by combat. If he won, Orobas would surrender his titles and lands.
Orobas, arrogant and convinced Rakesh was just a beast, accepted without hesitation.
The nobility gathered, expecting an easy victory for Orobas. Instead, they got carnage.
Rakesh fought like a monster unleashed, blending sheer brute force with the cunning of a hunter.
Orobas fought well, but he was not prepared for the kind of ferocity Rakesh brought to the table.
By the time it was over, Orobas was a broken, bloodied mess. Some say Rakesh started eating him mid-fight, tearing into his flesh with wild, primal hunger. Whether that actually happened or not, doesnât really matter: the rumor stuck, and that was enough.
Orobas fled. Some say he killed himself out of shame. Either way, he was gone, and Rakesh took his titles, his lands, and his rank.
With Beelzebubâs blessing (he was the one who first brought her spices from India and Asia, which won her over instantly), Rakesh became the Maharaja of his domain in Gluttony.
And even then, he wasnât done.
For centuries, he manipulated ancient civilizations, presenting himself as a living god. Tributes, sacrifices, entire cults dedicated to his worshipâall of it feeding his ego, bolstering Hellâs ranks, and ensuring his name was remembered.
(Many thanks to @ships-n-giggles for helping me with Rakesh's creation đ§Ą)
