My love for Slipknot is a history of musical violence. I was often scared of the masks and almost felt the entered my life by brute force. If @coreytaylor's vocal dynamics lured me towards @slipknot, Joey Jordison was the reason I stayed. Whoever likes metal or rock can't deny what Joey brought to the genre. An absolute monster behind the kit who made it seem effortless, like he was floating in between beats. He challenged sound, aesthetics and the role of a drummer in a band against 8 other fucking dudes, mind you. I couldnt look away and thought how can someone so tiny be this intimidating? I was fascinated. Plus, his masks were consistent and amazing. My heavier taste in music comes from enjoying Joey's drumming so much. My experimental ventures with darker sounds come from all the shit he did, even with the dolls. I got super hooked up with Slipknot after having a dream starring Joey in a bus tour (we ain't ready for this story yet). He hasnt been in Slipknot for about 8 years but was a founder, he made the sound be the killer beast it was and still is. Some may think feeling sad for his death is stupid, but when someone has influenced you into discovering things you ultimately love and then losing them, it fucking sucks. Im thankful for the music he left, his legacy can't be ignored.
