i feel like some ppl can relate to dabi in a way where youd rather be dead or kill someone than be put back with your abuser & thats something i love abt timh cause i can relate to that keep up the good work :) /genuine

Well, that's the other thing i think gets misunderstood with timh. A big part of Touya wanted to go back home and be with Enji, from the jump he was trying to drive out the rest of the family so it was just the two of them. Part of this is old trauma responses, product of grooming and conditioning, and him really wanting his Father's approval, while another portion was Dabi trying to sabotage Endeavor, almost force the cycle to start up again, and prove to himself he was abused when he was a kid. That's why a lot of times it seems like Touya is "instigating things" and almost asking to be put in these situations. He isn't, obviously, it's trauma, but Touya's an unreliable narrator and since the majority of timh is in his point of view we're not actually seeing things how they are, we're seeing things through a very warped perspective.

There's definitely moments where he gets a clearer mindset for a few minutes and is angry or afraid and doesn't want to do this anymore, but he's usually thrust right back into this delusional mindset by the abuse or gaslighting. There's definitely moments where he realizes he'd be better off at a psychiatric ward or in the rehab program, several times he considers it, but he always goes back on it because he thinks he deserves to be there and he thinks he wants to be there. It's his home, after all.

In TIMH, at the house, would investigators find proof of Enji fucking Touya from DNA in the bed and on the body? Touya never finished cleaning up the bathroom, where his hair and own blood should be found as well. And I could be wrong, but did he leave the panties he was wearing in the bathroom or somewhere else? There also should be evidence of Touya dragging his father around, undressing and dressing him, and unless Touya cleaned it up, the uneaten food he made his father should be there too. There would probably also be signs that Touya had sexual contact with the dead body as well.

The hospital staff, now that Enji is dead, could also come forward with what really happened to him.

This is all to say, Touya could absolutely be found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity. The problem would probably be the Hero Commission and whoever else wants to cover it up.

Yeahhh I mean, that's kinda why I left it open-ended to kinda leave it up to readers imagination of what happened later so like if you wanna look at it that way you can.

In my mind though, i think you hit the nail on the head with the ending line there. If there was any evidence, it would get covered up by the Commission and Endeavor would be kinda made out like he died as a martyr. In my mind, they paint a very warped picture- "Number 1 hero murdered by his own son while trying to give him a second chance" type of story.

Touya kinda fucked himself over unintentionally during his breakdown after Enji's death, so evidence was tampered with. He had sex with the corpse, but he also bathed and cleaned the body after (chapter 27) so there wouldn't be much evidence there. You can also assume he cleaned up anything else (bed sheets, the lingerie, the clothes Enji wore, other stuff got thrown in the laundry) while he was in the delusion kinda just wandering around the house cleaning and cooking like he was doing before Enji died. The bathroom was the last thing to get touched bc it kept breaking him out of the delusion, he got some of it before he left but if there's any evidence it's in there.

The problem is that everybody painted a real fucked up picture of what was going on, Enji was trying to do right by Touya, Touya manipulated and seduced him, and then he was killed either intentionally or Touya was "so crazy" he killed him on accident. Touya internalized that so that's where a lot of his ideals come from. Shouto and Natsuo tried to work things out on the outside, but like Shouto said nobody was really listening and Touya was still made out like he was at fault and deserved it. (Think it's chapter 15 where Shouto explains that he's tried talking to people but kept getting shut down) so it's very... Best case scenario, they write Touya off as crazy and he's institutionalized again. He's a serial killer so, like, even if they do a not guilty by insanity, they're still gonna get him on the murders before, or other charges related to the Enji incident (like him invading arrest, dissertation of a corpse, cutting off his house arrest anklet, tampering with evidence). It's not really a secret the general people in that au don't sympathize with Touya at all, so he'd kinda be fucked if he ever did get arrested again.

Diff anon but does Dabi have D.I.D. or split personalities in timh? I was wondering cuz of the drastic mood swings and names changing sometimes depending on how he's acting

Not, like, explicitly but I kinda default Touya with some form of dissociative disorder in every fic I write because he's hella system coded. I have whole ass hcs about it (which you can ask about you know you wanna ask about) and honestly at some point i gotta write a fic where he is explicitly a system.

In timh tho most of his mental shit is more centered around psychosis and him falling in and out of delusional states of mind, coupled with being groomed and shit as a kid so having really mixed up perspectives about shit. This is where a lot of his big shifts in mental states come from, specifically like when he stopped taking his medication without telling anyone, making his mental state worse, and like after the miscarriage entering a psychotic episode due to postpartum psychosis and depression. Again just because I do tend to default him as some kind of a system even if i dont go into it too deep, that also plays a part in things with the shifts between using "dabi" and "Touya" and him hearing voices. Though both those things could also be contributed to his psychosis.

This is kinda an add on to what the previous anon said but asuhduashdsduh reading what they had to say makes me wanna say stupid crap as well. But I find so few authors utilize non-romantic relationships, and this doesnt just apply to the madness combat space. A lot of multi-chapter fanfics are just "oh, this thing happens, but whatever, lets get to the sex" with no other overarching plot to it.

And I'm just....sigh.

I mean I get why that happens. it's an interesting/fun thing to write and in my experience smut gets you attention as an author. but like that doesn't mean you shouldn't analyze other aspects of interpersonal relationships AT ALL which is what I tend to see. like if sanmos isn't a romantic ship then it just gets left as "yeah they're besties" with no elaboration or complexity

writing is like a game with an end objective and all the characters are pawns for you to achieve that objective, why not use all of them?
