Day 2: Favorite BL Drama

Though I have a great deal of affection for Love By Chance, I have to give it to TharnType.

LBC is great, but all the TinxCan gives the last few episodes a sour taste. Additionally I think I just love TT more.

It has so many devices and archetypes in it that I love in written fiction, beautifully brought to ‘real life’ by an excellent combination of writer + director + ACTORS. I wasn’t sure about this show at first, but not for a reason you may suspect; I found some of the acting a teensy bit awkward in ep one, and that’s often a turn off for me. But as many fans of TharnType can attest, I was intrigued by Mew and Gulf’s chemistry. So I checked out bits of episode two, then episode three came out a couple days later. The story did the rest. I proceeded to rewatch all three episodes, this time in their entirety, and I’ve been in love ever since. ❤️

"Resetting tinxcan's storyline for LBC2 is OK", there I said it.😫

Lemme explain. I have seen alot of people being so fking annoyed and piss, and so was I. It was hard to accept, especially going through all that emotions with tincan in LBC, and then waiting so long hoping to see their happy ending and mend our broken hearts in LBC2.

BUT in LBC, tincan was a side couple, so their interactions and screen time were a few. But even then their storyline and chemistry is so amazing that people just really loved them, and at that time when they were filming LBC, I don't think they ever thought they might want to do an LBC2, and with tin can as the main.

But then it happened! It's going to be a 14 episodes series and tincan was going to be the main couple! The thing is most of the development of tincan has already happened in season 1! If this was a 2 episodes special to tie up the tin can storyline, then sure. But NO! they gave as a full series on tincan.

In LBC they left tincan at a point where tin has already let down all his walls and became the most vulnerable ever, and Can is just at the beginning of figuring out that maybe he should listen more to his heart then his brain. It's like the climax of their intense relationship.

So if they continued from this point, LBC 2 has to start on that climax, and the first few episodes is them realising they are meant to be, then what? People won't be very invested in the remaining episodes later.

So that's why when LBC2 wanted to make TinCan a main, I'm sure Mame felt that this ship deserves to have a proper introduction and story fitting for a main couple, and rewrote the storyline. So that we can see more meaningful interactions and really get the whole full 14 episodes of tin can. From when they meet, the start of them hating each other, and then understanding each other, going through hurdles together and finally (hopefully) the happy ending we all want for them.

So I hope we can give Mame a chance and LBC2 a chance. I was really sad at first about the changed storyline, but now I am excited...

Because I get to see my favourite BL couple of all time fall in love all over again!
