YOUR GUIDE TO CRUISING ON ROYAL CARIBBEAN: FUN, SUN, AND ALL THE GOOD VIBES
Tumblr media
If you’re reading this, chances are you’ve got cruising on the brain. And why wouldn’t you? Royal Caribbean is pretty much the ultimate floating vacation. Whether you're dreaming of Caribbean sunsets, endless buffets, or thrilling water slides at sea, Royal Caribbean cruises offer something for everyone. But before you hit the high seas, here’s your guide to making the most of your trip with tips, tricks, and a little insider knowledge to turn you into a cruising pro. 1. Choosing the Perfect Cruise for You First things first: which cruise are you booking? Royal Caribbean has a boatload (pun intended) of itineraries. From tropical paradises to icy fjords, there’s a perfect cruise for every kind of traveler. Here’s how to pick the one that’s right for you: - The Short & Sweet Getaway: If you're new to cruising, start with a 3- or 4-night trip to get your sea legs. You’ll hit the highlights (like Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay private island, or a couple of Caribbean ports), but still have time for all the on-board fun. - The Week-Long Escape: Got more time? A 7-night cruise is the sweet spot for a full vacation experience. You’ll hit multiple ports, get in all your favorite ship activities, and still have a couple of lazy days at sea. - The Ultimate Adventure: Feeling bold? Royal Caribbean offers longer itineraries, from 10-12 nights to epic transatlantic crossings. Perfect for the explorer who’s ready to experience it all. 2. Ship Shape: Which Royal Caribbean Ship is Your Style? Royal Caribbean has a fleet that’s basically a collection of floating cities—each with its own personality. Here are a few of the fan favorites: - Icon-Class Ships (Icon of the Seas): This is the largest cruise ship in the world, including the largest waterpark at sea! Icon is divided into themed “neighborhoods” catered to all ages. This ship sets a new standard for luxury and innovation on the seas. - Oasis-Class Ships (Symphony, Harmony, Wonder of the Seas): These are your mega-ships, and they’ve got EVERYTHING. Surf simulators, rock climbing walls, Broadway shows, zip lines, and so much more. If you want to do all the things, this is your ride. - Quantum-Class Ships (Quantum, Anthem, Odyssey of the Seas): For the tech-savvy cruiser. These ships have cutting-edge experiences like virtual balconies, skydiving simulators, and robotic bartenders. - Smaller Ships (Brilliance, Vision, Radiance of the Seas): Want something a little more laid-back? These smaller, more intimate ships have a cozier feel but still offer plenty of fun. Ideal for cruisers who prefer fewer crowds and more scenic routes. 3. Packing for a Cruise: What to Bring (and What to Leave Behind) Packing for a cruise can feel a bit like packing for everything at once. You’ve got beach days, formal dinners, and zip-lining adventures. Here’s a cheat sheet: - Daytime Gear: Swimsuits, cover-ups, sunglasses, sunscreen, and comfy shoes for exploring. Don’t forget a reusable water bottle for those days in port. - Evening Outfits: Royal Caribbean’s dress code is mostly casual, but they do have optional “formal nights” if you want to dress up. Think cocktail dresses or a sharp button-up. - Essentials: You’ll need a passport (or ID and birth certificate, depending on your cruise), travel-sized toiletries, and any necessary meds. Leave your beach towels at home—the ship’s got you covered. - What Not to Bring: Skip the iron (it’s not allowed), and don’t overdo it with clothes. With plenty of casual options on board, you’ll likely live in your swimwear and comfy clothes. 4. Dining Delights: What (and Where) to Eat One of the best things about cruising? THE FOOD. Royal Caribbean offers a culinary world tour, and the options are pretty much endless. Here’s where to start: - Main Dining Room: Think of this as your cruise HQ for multi-course dinners. You’ll get gourmet options every night with different themes—and did we mention it’s included in your fare? - The Windjammer Café: The beloved buffet. It’s your go-to for breakfast, lunch, and late-night cravings. Pile your plate with everything from pancakes to pasta, and remember, calories don’t count at sea. - Specialty Dining: Want to treat yourself? For an extra fee, you can dine at some fantastic specialty restaurants like Chops Grille (steakhouse vibes) or Jamie’s Italian (hello, pasta!). Totally worth it if you’re in the mood for something a little fancier. - Snacks on Deck: From pizza at Sorrento’s to ice cream by the pool, there’s always something to munch on. And let’s not forget about the infamous poolside soft-serve machine! 5. Onboard Fun: Where to Find the Action Royal Caribbean ships are like mini amusement parks, so there’s always something to do. Here are the top activities to dive into: - Pool Days: Pools, hot tubs, and even water slides—grab a lounger, order a tropical drink, and you’ve got the recipe for a perfect day. - Adventure Activities: Try the FlowRider surf simulator, take a zip line across the ship, or test your skills on the rock climbing wall. Not the adventurous type? No worries—watching others wipe out on the FlowRider is just as entertaining. - Entertainment Galore: Don’t miss the shows! Royal Caribbean’s ships have Broadway-style performances, live music, comedy shows, and even ice skating performances on some ships. Make sure to check the daily schedule so you don’t miss out. 6. Port Days: Exploring the World, One Island at a Time One of the best parts of cruising? Waking up in a new place every day. Here’s how to make the most of your time on shore: - Shore Excursions: You can book organized tours through Royal Caribbean, like snorkeling, hiking, or city tours. They take care of everything, so all you have to do is show up. - DIY Exploration: If you’re feeling more independent, do some research ahead of time and explore on your own. Just make sure to get back on the ship before it sails away—seriously, they will leave you behind. - Perfect Day at CocoCay: If your cruise stops at Royal Caribbean’s private island, CocoCay, you’re in for a treat. It’s basically a tropical playground with water parks, private cabanas, and some of the most beautiful beaches you’ll ever see. 7. Cruise Tips & Hacks: Insider Secrets for Smooth Sailing Now that you’re almost a cruise expert, here are a few pro tips to make your vacation even better: - Check-in Online: Skip the long lines at the terminal by checking in online before you go. You’ll thank us later. - Book Shows and Activities Early: Popular shows and excursions can fill up fast, so book them as soon as you board (or even before, if possible). - Download the Royal Caribbean App: This app is your new best friend. Use it to check daily schedules, book dining reservations, and even chat with your fellow cruisers. - Bring a Lanyard for Your SeaPass: You’ll use your SeaPass card for everything on board, so attach it to a lanyard to keep it handy (and avoid misplacing it after a few cocktails). Final Thoughts: Let the Good Times Roll (or Sail) A Royal Caribbean cruise is all about fun, relaxation, and making amazing memories. Whether you're zip-lining across the ship, enjoying a sunset from your balcony, or simply lounging by the pool with a book, this is your time to unwind and soak up all the good vibes. So pack your bags, grab your sunscreen, and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime! Bon voyage! Read the full article

One Straightforward Console Command Will Allow You to Customise the Inside of Starfield Ships However You Choose
Tumblr media
The capabilities of the Starfield ship builder continue to astound me, from remarkably accurate recreations of pop culture spaceships to clever corner ships that outsmart enemy AI. There's even one that's a complete F1 car – it's truly impressive. Even someone like me, who had no clue what to do with Legos, managed to assemble a cruiser with the perfect mix of practicality and sleek design. However, in contrast to the exterior, the interiors of these ships are rather dull. Apart from placing items from your inventory on tables, you're pretty much stuck with the standard furniture that comes with the ship modules you attach. Unless you're playing on PC, that is. There's a simple way to activate interior decoration on your ship using a single Starfield console command. Once activated, you can craft and place anything in your ship that you'd typically place in a house or apartment in Starfield's major cities. I've already spruced up my main hab area with some cozy chairs, a coffee maker, a refrigerator, and some paintings to add a splash of color to the otherwise monotonous white and gray surroundings. This trick isn't just about aesthetics – you can place workbenches wherever they fit, and even a Constellation mission board. I've set up a mission terminal right next to my pilot seat, allowing me to take on new quests without setting foot on a planet – it's like having a mini fridge under your PC desk in the world of Starfield. At this rate, I may never have to leave my ship. Here's how to customize your ship interior: - Find a spot on your ship to place the "Decorate" panel. The command will spawn the panel at your feet, which can look a bit awkward. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way around this, so choose a location where it won't seem out of place. - Press the ` key to access the console. - Enter (or paste) this command to spawn the panel: player.placeatme 00024DC7 1 - Press E on the spawned panel to enter building mode. I came across this tip via the "Customizable Ship Interiors" mod by Nexus Mods user dreamsoundzz, which essentially automates the console command once it's installed. You can go that route if you prefer, but personally, I find it easier to spawn the item myself. If you make a mistake or want to start fresh, it's straightforward to undo the whole process. Simply modify or replace the room where you placed the panel, and all the custom-placed items will be removed. It's convenient, but it's also something to keep in mind if you're an avid ship builder – don't invest too much time in decorating your ship's interior until you're satisfied with the exterior. And in case you're wondering where else you can use these panels for redecoration, the possibilities are vast. The same trick works outside on a planet, though you could likely achieve the same effect by creating a standard Starfield outpost. It's also possible to use decorate panels to add a personal touch to one of Starfield's major cities. However, you can't use them to decorate the exterior of your ship, as the game doesn't recognize your ship as a placeable surface for customization, unfortunately. Read the full article

Will It Wash Me Clean?
Hournite fic: Rick gets a visitor in jail -  2x08
(Part 1/?)
Read on ao3
~.~
One minute, Rick was asleep.
One minute Rick was asleep in the dingy holding cell, the next Beth stood over him, arm outstretched and figure glowing green in the night, activated goggles perched at the top of her head like a translucent halo.
There wasn’t time for Rick to formulate his questions about how or why or where she’d come from. Sweet, intoxicating relief pierced through him like a needle, ran like an aching supplement for adrenaline he’s missing, craving, through his veins. His heart started pumping and his chest expanded and out expelled a breath that got lost in the leather suit of Dr. Mid-Nite’s shoulder-padded arm. Her hands stayed still at her sides as her head turned, calculatingly, already onto their next move as he slumped against her.
Rick didn’t understand. He didn’t need to understand. He’d go with Beth. Rick would go anywhere with her.
“Beth!” her name gasped out his lips. Her sheer presence was enough for Rick to tremble, to break for her solace. For this long-imagined and forbidden embrace. Beth slid her goggles firmly over her eyes just as Rick pushed himself up and got a proper look at her. It had been...It had been days.
There weren’t any attorneys Rick could afford. Not even with Pat and Barbara’s savings. Not with his reputation and disdain in this town. No legal counsel, no salvageable way to untangle Rick from the terrified grief-stricken rambling he shouted at the dispatcher through the phone. The tearful plea at the first aid responders blew into a full-fledged panicked insistence to take him away and to deal him in. That he didn’t mean to kill anyone except for all the ways that he did.
“Rick. Yeah. It’s okay. It’s me. Come. Quickly. Now, while the jail’s still empty. The coast is clear.”
The holding cell creaked wide open behind her, keys jammed stuck in the lock.
“What?” His head whipped back behind him at the solid wall. The one he’d stared at for nearly a week in peril as exhaustion seeped into his bones.
She laughed and gave him a light push. He stumbled along, following her out of the shadowed bars and through a maze of sterile halls, squinting through his blurry vision. “Beth. What are you doing?” He looked back at her as the fresh cold air hit his lungs.
She grabbed his arms, yanking him closer. “I’m breaking you out, silly.”
Their chests collided together. Rather, her head met his shoulders and Rick was so deliriously happy he wanted to kiss her. Rick wanted to more than kiss her. He blinked slowly, dazed through his wet, clumped eyelashes to gaze down at her. The green goggles snapped downcast over his cuffed wrists. Beth reached into a back pocket, olive cape flaring behind in the wind behind the police cruisers. “One second.”
A new set of keys emerged and she freed him. And then there were his hands, free to stretch out and expand. Arms free to spread as he half-spun around in his spot by the lamplight shining on them. Free to tilt his head back and thread his fingers through his dirty hair and drag his palms over his face, holding off a choked sob first, then hiding a smile that grew and grew until he was urgently gripping onto Beth, choking over clumsy laughter for real.
Beth watched Rick break down with mild interest.
“Let me. Let me—” Rick fumbled over his words, over his thoughts. Over everything. What was he even trying to say? Rick couldn’t process the next minute. The next moment. Beth pulled him aside and they walked through forgotten back alleys on a mission to weave through the town without a trace. Without a word.
“Wait!” He hardly caught his breath but his mind cleared enough to know what the buzzing was ebbing through his muscles, warming his face underneath his set jaw. He just wanted to hold her. Look at her. Thank her. “Let me…”
The pads of his thumbs reached below the thick band of Beth’s goggles. She went still, letting him lift the folded material, unclouding her gleaming eyes. Face no longer obscured, Rick gazed on adoringly. He stepped forward and blinked back more tears. It was a lot and too much and not enough all at once when he bumped his forehead down to hers and just absorbed the night between them.
“Beth,” His voice broke altogether. “God. You didn’t have to do this.” The realization set in. “You didn’t have to.” Rick loves her though. He reached for her suede brown gloves for one of her hands. He slipped his hand into hers, felt the curve of her palm through the suit, and attempted to pull the tips off slightly. The gloves weren’t enough. Rick needed something skin to skin.
Her fingers twitched. Then pulled away.
“This is illegal, Rick.”
“I know. I know, and I can’t believe you did something like that for me. I’m not— this could get you in trouble. I’m not worth a risk like that. You didn’t have to get me out of there but...there you were.” Rick’s breath hitched. “Like my angel.” He’d been thinking that since she appeared to him like a glorious fever dream. She was driving him mad. “Beth… please. Let me kiss you.”
“No, Rick,” her soft voice whispered. “Listen to me. I freed you because it was the right thing to do.” She cupped his cheek as he searched her eyes. “But what is there left for you here? You have nowhere to go. You’re too dangerous, Rick. Even before the hourglass. This is a dead-end. Nobody’s come to defend your case. This town can’t handle you.”
Rick squeezed his eyes shut, shutting down. Beth touched him tenderly, soft fabric grazing across his sunken cheeks then carded through his hair that gave him the care he yearned for. He couldn’t tear himself away.
“But what about you?” he asked desperately. It didn't make sense. "What about you, Beth?"
“Me?” Beth took a step back into the shade by an old crooked fence. The goggles sat on the bridge of her nose, green overcast shining harshly on him. “That’s why I’m here. So you can go.”
Rick shuddered through another breath, shielding his eyes.
“You let Grundy free. I’m doing the same for you. We can agree on that, can’t we, Rick? Granting mercy to Monsters like you that don’t deserve it?”
Rick crumpled. Ground hit his knees, freed hands grasping at cruel, empty air after Beth vanished. Wind lifted a young giggle that was never hers.
~,~
“We’ve got a sixteen-year-old detainee currently at the Blue Valley holding center needing medical attention and a psych eval. Yes, ma’am. Looking like PTSD. Over.”
~.~
“Hey! Kid!” The officer shook Rick hard. “Kid! Shit.”
Rick jolted out of the vision. Two uniformed policemen flanked with guards crowded into Rick’s cramped tiny room.
“Stand down,” the officer called out to his partner over his shoulder. “Yeah, he’s stable. He was in a terror trance or something.” He studied Rick. “Need some water?”
Rick couldn’t even manage any words. He nodded, panting, then knocked his head hard against the cement wall of his detention cell. Not again. He ground his teeth and clenched his fists over his buried face, knuckles pressed against the intrusive hallucinations spinning more tricks as tears streamed down from his eyes. Of course, again.
And it would continue to happen over again. As much as Eclipso pleased.
They could lock him in a straight jacket and throw him in a pit, still, Rick couldn’t claw Eclipso out of his damn mind. His shirt clung to clammy, pale skin. There was no relief in the flat jail heat. Horizontal bars were still too sturdy for him to bend. There was no out. No hourglass. No jailbreak. No rescue mission to get Rick out while the JSA mapped out their next plans. No Beth with her arm reached out forward, to both save and break him.
“I’m sorry,” he croaked. He got a water bottle still cold, wet on his palm with condensation.
The officer with Carl on his name tag squatted down low. “Does this happen often?”
Rick glanced away. Since he landed there? Often enough.
“We’re gonna get you help, kid.”
Why were they pretending to be nice to him in jail? Rick squeezed the crinkling plastic bottle as he thirsted, letting it deform in his grip instead of taking a drink. More lights flashed on and one of the officers got him a starchy blanket he didn’t even want. He looked down at the pins and needles in his shackled foot. They’d kept him in one leg cuff. Because he was dangerous.
That part really wasn’t fake.
The vision wasn’t real. What Eclipso dug out of him again. But it was dug out from something real. It was buried there. The stuff he said to Illusion Beth, wanting to run with her. More than that. The way that rush had made him feel. A part of him almost wanted to hide back in Eclipso’s game. Did he even have to fight back? He was too easy for the devil to manipulate, terrorized and broken down, powerless. What left was there to take from him anyway?
Rick was beyond help.

DIRTY
Lee Bodecker x reader
Warnings: language and slight violence
Tumblr media
He hated her, he hated her the second she walked into his station all chummy chummy with the mayor, who he’s been trying to get down here for a face to face for ages. Having the current mayor on his side would definitely help him when election comes back around. Lee plasters on a fake smile when the pair get to his office door, pulling his duty belt up a bit higher from where it’s fallen.
“Mayor, to what do I owe the pleasure?” He stood, shaking the older mans hand ignoring the woman all together, she was wearing one of their uniforms so he figured if she’s a new deputy she would learn who runs this show and if she didn’t well, he could show her himself one night on patrol. While he wasn’t looking forward to having a girl around a female officer on the department would look great to the voters, he silently thought.
“Bodecker, I think it’s high time we have a talk,” the mayor stated making himself way to comfortable in his office. The brief thought that he knew of his extra curricular activities ran through the sheriff’s head. But Lee knew how the real world worked if anything the mayor should be shaking his hand in appreciation for keeping this shit hole safe, the whole town should in his opinion.
“Now Lee, I know this won’t be easy to hear so I’m just gonna’ come out with it. Miss Y/L/N, is taking over your position as sheriff.”
If Lee wasn’t so appalled at the new information he would’ve seen the shock on the womens face as well. But he was to locked in on the mayor to notice. But for once he took his sister’s advice and took a deep breath, surly it wasn’t what he thought and instead the man was presenting him with the news that Lee himself was taking over as mayor and of course he couldn’t be in the role of sheriff if he were to take over. That had to be it, Lees work had finally paid off. All those late nights in the company of meaningless women would end, he’d have to find a sweet girl to fit the image of a mayors wife. That might be hard to do in this small town but he’d figure it out. He was pulled from his inner planning as the mayor rose from his seat.
“I’m sure you can find a new desk out there and clear this office out for the new sheriff in town!” The old man stated proudly patting the girl on the back, who herself had just met eyes with Lee. Now she has locked eyes with many criminal in her time but she had never seen anger quite like his in this moment. Her back involuntarily straightening had the loud bark he let out.
“What!”
“Now Lee,” the mayor started, expecting an outburst, Quickly getting cut off.
“No! Do you know what I have done for this fuckin’ town? This is an elected position, one I’ve won two times over and you’re gonna’ hand it over to some bitch!”
Lee snarled his hands coming down hard on the desk filling the small office with a sharp clap.
“As mayor I can over rule an election when the elected falls short. And you have been for a while Lee, crime rates have gone up and closed cases going down. Does that sound like a good sheriff to you?”
The only sound in the room being Lee’s huffs like an angry bull when you entered its pin. Which Y/n had felt like that’s exactly what she had unknowingly done.
“The conversation is over, leave us be deputy.”
If Lees jaw could clench any harder it’d surly break. Glaring at the girl as he roughly pushed past her, the whole station hearing the argument between the two and was watching as Lee treaded to a nearby desk barking at the watchers as he went.
“Show’s over get back to your jobs!”
“Yes sherif-deputy”
The assistants sputtering only angered Lee more. Finally the mayor left and you came out of his-your office.
“I understand what a shock the must’ve been to you all, believe it or not it was to me too.” Her eyes shot over to Lee hoping he wasn’t to angry still, he was. “Anyway I know you all have a way of doing things and I’m not here to change anything so let keep up the good police work.”
The months following were rough for the ex sheriff, he never had gotten used to being sent out to deal with house parties that got to loud and the case of Mrs.Jenkins, missing poodle. That was a deputys job not his, no matter what his new title was. And you hadn’t made his time any easier.
Miss Y/n Y/l/n, at first she had tried to make friends with him and the rest of the deputies, him being the only one resisting. After finally giving up she began what he believed was a game of ‘how angry can I make Lee today’ sendin’ him out on those joke cases, all while eating his candy he had in his old office.
And to make matters worse the entire town was practically smitten with her, her sweet looks but hard hand on the crime in the area had won their hearts the crime rate dropping ninety percent in the first three months of her arrival. He had went to the library and dug up some newspaper about her, a hotshot detective from Cincinnati who was hailed a hero there after taking down a mob family, after that arrest the department saw how valuable female officers could be and she was no longer the only one within that department and hearing her success many departments followed in suit. And then she suddenly quit after making such a big name for herself So what was she doing here in this tiny town?
—————-
Knockemstiff, West Virginia. The large welcome sign reads as you drove past the trees flying by as blurs of green, the nature will take some getting used to as you didn’t have much in the city. It reminds you of the tiny potted plant you mother got you for your office when you made detective. It was a long, hard road to get there which makes leaving that much worse. You were at the highest of your career being the only women was rough the men didn’t respect you officers and criminals alike, you had to work ten times harder to make your mark and as ironic as it was when you hit that big break that’s when it all went down hill.
And here you are starting all over again and you figured it would be harder to earn the smalls towns respect. But it would all be worth it when you caught the guy you’ve been looking for. Your old boss had made a few calls when he learned your plans to chase leads on the road and one of the calls had been to the mayor of the town when he asked you to meet him at the sheriffs office you were shocked to hear you’d be taking over. You weren’t however when Lee continued to hate you for months to come, everyone said that’s just how he is but you know it was the sting of losing his position. It didn’t take you long to find out he had been dirty it was almost embarrassing how transparent it was.
But you knew if you were going to make any headway in this town when the time came you’d need someone who knew the ins and outs like Lee did, so you kept trying to get on his good side even noticing he liked sweets and breaking out the fancy ones you had from the city, you got the message quick when he threw them away staring right at you. You had one last trick up your sleeve, back in Cincinnati you partner always said cops and criminals aren’t that different it’s just the way they think. so that’s what you’ll do.
Grabbing your hat you walked out of your office boots clacking as you walked past his desk the gold name plate shining as the sunlight breaks through the windows.
“Come on Bodecker, you’re driving” you toss the keys to the cruiser over your shoulder, you know he’s following because you can feel his glare on the back of your head. You spoke as Lee slammed his door shut the car shifting under his weight a bit.
“Low level pot growers slash dealers on the outskirts of town this is their third warning.” Lee grunts is response and started driving the ride was uncomfortable to say the least.
“I know you read up on me I’m sure you have something to say about it?” Taking the glance he shot you out of the corner of his eye as a yes you continue.
“And I’m sure it’s along the lines of why I’m here?” Cue side glance again, “well when I started looking into the Galindos they didn’t take to kindly to that, they send some guys to my parents house when their threats didn’t stop me, it was completely by chance I was at their house when they came it was a big gun fight. Killed one but the others got away and they are the only members of the mafia still out there, I got the tags off the car they used and tracked it to here.”
You’d been parked outside the farm house for the last part of your story so you stepped out the car and rounded to the drivers side leaning down to meet Lees eyes through the open window.
“I want you to know I never wanted to take your position, I also know you were dirty when you were sheriff. So let’s make a deal.”
You can see him take in the information you’ve thrown at him during the short car ride, and he subtly nods “what’s the deal?”
“I know you’re not my biggest fan, but we can help each other. So deal is if you follow me we start over and you help me find the last Galindos no matter how dirty it gets.” You paused letting it sink in. “And if you don’t want to, leave me here and drive back to the station and we will never speak again, but I also won’t hold back on arresting your old buddies and we’ll see how fast they throw you under the bus.”
His eyes which you just now noticed were blue narrow at your words. Looks like country boy knows he would go down faster than milk with cookies if they got arrested. Tipping your hat you spin on your heel and head towards the run down farm house, your lips pull up hearing the car door shut behind you as his footfalls rushing to catch up.
“Didn’t think an officer of your caliber would resort to blackmail.” He grunts, as much as he hates that you’re right he also respected you a tiny bit now, lord know what he covered up for Sandy, so he understands the familial bond that you’re doing this for.
“That wasn’t blackmail, blackmail would be leaking those pictures of you on duty with a girl in your patrol car as you unload into a Pepsi cup.”
Now that made Lee pause in his steps, how the hell did she know that, he hasn’t had a girl around since she popped in. “Yeah I’ve been in town a while.” The pair make it to the paint chipped door, the deputy still slightly stunned but jumping back into action as you kicked the door down without so much as a knock first, Well that’s not protocol. The few men in the the house jump up at the sudden intrusion but are quickly pushed back down with a swift kick to the chest from you.
You know who you’re looking for you’ll leave the rest to Lee, grabbing the boy still sat at the table by his hair and yanking him face first on the floor as he yelped, knee pressing down on his back pulling his head back by your grip on his ponytail. “I’m not here for you.” Your snarled leaning down to his ear, throwing down a baggie with the families grower logo that you found outside your family home. “Next time you see the Galindos you tell them there’s a new sheriff in town.” Barley aware of the deputy entering the room you slammed the mans face down, blood already pouring out of his nose and onto the floor, that’s gonna’ stain.
Not casting Lee a glance as you strolled past him and back to the car, him on your heels, he definitely wasn’t expecting that from you. But he’d be a liar if it didn’t turn him on a bit you know what they say, the line between hate and lust is thin. At least that’s how it goes in his head.
He takes the long way back to the station wanting extra time to think how to ask his question. “You really have pictures of me?”
You looked over when you heard his gruff voice. Oh now he want to have a conversation. “I knew I’d need help with my investigation, you willing or not.”
“And how did you know I was dirty and wouldn’t have arrested you for that show back there?”
Did he think you were stupid, there were thousands of signs you just admitted to following him did he think you didn’t see his dealings. “You’re not the first crooked cop I’ve met, you let your ego get ahead of you, you were sloppy the signs were everywhere, plus.” You couldn’t help the smirk from on. “I never gave you the dealers address.”
Lee couldn’t stop the chuckle from escaping his mouth, she was smart he’d give her that. “You know I think this is the beginning of a great partnership deputy, perhaps even friends.” You tease him smiling as he huffs and rolls his eyes.
“Don’t call me that!”
“No problem.....deputy.”

Star-Burned: Chapter Three
Sundays are going to be posting days just like Mandokar. I've decided to also add the two pieces will be in the same collection in the same universe; so Paz has a sister who is with Din.
My headcanon is that many Death Troopers are Mandalorians who joined the Empire after the Great Purge. Just an fyi.

So Jawas were alright.
They were kind of finicky because most of the time they were thieving little bastards and you really had to keep your eye on them. Sure, they could do nice things, they'd proven that before when they had brought back your parents' bodies without asking for payment. But... the moment they actually got to take a look at Paz's ship you knew you were in for it. They fucking wanted it. The entire thing. All of it. Your signs must've done a good job, because they hadn't come into the sheltered alcove where it was hidden like a lost treasure. The road led up to your farm, but the smoke churning up from the ship typically would've drawn them in like moths to a flame. Now the robed midgets were milling around, chirping in their language, and billeting Paz with questions that he couldn't understand.
"What do they want?" Paz looked to you for guidance.
"Your whole ship," you laugh before glancing down at the lead Jawa, Tho Qeohe. You reasoned with him, discerning, in the past, the Jawas only by the different belts of items that they adorned their robes in. This ship belonged to someone, you were looking for assistance in standing it up and the appropriate parts to make the last repairs, which would probably include scrap metal, any engine parts, and landing gear.
Make it worth it. What was there to offer that would be worth parting with that many materials and the addition of assistance? Jawas did not work for free and nor did they do favors, despite how long they'd known you.
"They said you have to make it worth their while. They'd be willing to give the parts, but a good trade will be expected. Do you have anything... rare on your ship?" You ask Paz finally after quietly debating with Tho. Immediately, the Jawa pointed at his armor, which he had donned today. You shook your head, explaining that he was Mandalorian and the beskar was off the table entirely. There was an aggravated huff of dismay, Tho convinced that there would be little worthwhile that could otherwise be exchanged for all those parts. Unless...
Oh-ho-ho the little buggers were trying to be cheeky now, tugging on your pant leg and gibbering excitedly. No, you needed your tip-yips, they were your solid source of protein.
"I have a camtono of Exonium that was looking to sell once I got to the right spaceport," Paz offered, which... which was actually a good offer. You blink a few times and explain to the Jawas that the Mandalorian is willing to trade in his camtono of the fossil fuel.
Not enough. Maybe two camtonos, but not just one. Groaning, you rub your face and consider again. You could part with a few tip-yips and perhaps request that Paz took you to the city so you could acquire a new bacta shot and tip-yips. Fine. The freaking birds could go, but Paz would have to take you back to the city because you needed the eggs.
"I've come to an arrangement," you admit grudgingly. Why did these little assholes like eggs so much? They were chanting the awful word over and over again. "They'll take the camtono of Exonium and..." You grumble about your tip-yips, hoping that he wouldn't hear you.
"They want your chickens too?"
"Yeah, they're being brats. Jawas really like eggs," you explained, huffing a breath and crossing your arms over your chest. "I'd hate to be a bother, but I'm going to need a ride to the city in order to get more. I can't live out here without a solid, renewable source of protein."
"A bother?" Paz rumbled, a chuckle crackling in the edge of his vocoder. "Tracyn... I owe you considerably more than being a taxi to the city.  I'll buy the tip-yips for you. And the bacta shot you had to use."
Well... that was a fair deal... right? You wanted to ask him to throw his shiny bucket into the mix and just stay here, but that would've been crossing a line. Smiling dolefully, you turned back to Tho -- the sweet smile being replaced by a grimace and begrudging glare, which on you was not at all intimidating. Actually, it was sort of comical and Tho laughed at your attempt to posture in front of the Mandalorian.
Jawas were restless buggers and got their work underway immediately. You had to supervise, mostly because you could hear them being evel kenivals and had to thump a few of their heads to keep them from worming their grubby hands into places they shouldn't. It was going to be a long few days. Thankfully, the one saving grace you'd gotten out of all of this was that Jawas knew tech. Be that droids, starships, cruisers, speeders -- you could name anything and they'd know it. You had rapport with them, despite the fact you had to chastise them at least four times every hour. By nature, they were sneaksie monsters. So you used that to your advantage, because they didn't want to spend more time than was necessary to keep up their end of the bargain.
They had the proper lifts and equipment to hoist the ship up, which you learned was called the Kote. Pieces of metal slopped off, just as you'd predicted and it made you wince. The Kote was old, but before this dogfight, actually seemed as if it had been in good condition; well maintained and kept up to date. The Jawas fussed, complained, kicked and cried like petulant children about being put to work instead of thieving. But they helped. Again, they didn't want to be there forever and so they helped solder parts on, repair the hull, and even Tho had gone as far to berate you for improperly wiring connections to the engine. Jawas were intelligent, no matter how much people looked down on them, they knew what they were doing.
By the end of the third day you were a fucking mess. Your muscles were trembling, fending off exhaustion and hyped up on gallons of caf. But you couldn't go to sleep. Not when the Jawas were here. Not when they could pilfer things when you weren't keeping hawk eyes on them.
Paz had tried to get you to rest, but you couldn't. He didn't speak their language or know what little shits they could be. You sort of loved how annoying they could be, in their own unique way, but you also knew that you were the glue bonding this entire arrangement together.
"You need to rest, Tracyn," he insisted as you dropped the wrench for the fourth time in under 10 minutes.
"Al-almost done," you insisted, managing to pin a puffy glare over at a Jawa who was eying your wrench. They knew you were testy now, each hour that passed knocking off another bit of your ever vanishing patience. Actually, you were probably in the sphere of negative patience.
"The Jawas are packing up. Tracyn... Tracyn please, you're going to kill yourself from exhaustion and the heat-" Paz grabbed your shoulders, steering you away from the landing gear that you had continued to work on. You managed to stick your tongue out at the nearest Jawa before being brought into the Kote. Your eyes blinked a few times, cutting the difference from the brightness of day and the dim of the hull. Maker, had it really been three days? Your brain was fried and you were working on fumes. "Hey... hey can you hear me?"
Had he been talking? You blink again, finally focusing on the snapping fingers beside your ear. "Hmm?"
"You need to go to sleep," Paz decided firmly.
"B-but," you were too emotional for this right now. Immediately your eyes began to fill up with tears. You were letting him down. What if the Jawas started stealing stuff? You were almost done. Just a couple more hours and it would've been good to go. "I can do it. I still have enough energy. Maybe another cup of caf will do the trick."
"You've drank enough to fuel a starship," Paz reminded you duly, brushing away the frustrated tears from your eyes. "C'mere, shh now. You're just over tired-" he grabbed you, pulling you into an embrace on his chest. The cool beskar felt good against your clammy skin, neck lolling naturally into the crook beneath his helmet. "Maker I would have never guessed you had so much energy in you. And all you want are tip-yips and a bacta shot for this?"
"I'm a simple girl," you sniffle in defeat. "And I like eggs just as much as Jawas."
His chest rumbled and you felt the laugh before you heard it, but the sound relaxed your warbling, his hands sliding underneath you before cradling you like a child. Had you been in a more sensible state of mind, you might've protested in worry that he could be hurting his ribs. While he felt strong enough to don his armor again, that didn't mean that the lingering injury wasn't hidden beneath. He was taking you deeper into the ship, opening the door to a room that was dimly lit. Your lashes were fluttering, sleep trying to smother you completely, but you rebelled against it - trying to figure out what was going on.
He was setting you down on a bed, ooh Maker the bed felt so nice. There were furs and blankets, so this wasn't your bed. Didn't have fur on your bed. Smelled like him -- blaster residue, leather, oil, and some kind of soap... you couldn't place it because you didn't use soap in a sonic shower like a water one. But it was nice. "Hmmm," a soft moan emanated from your throat and you'd all but forgotten you hadn't cleaned off in three days either since beginning your crusade to finish fixing the Kote. You were out within seconds of your head touching the pillow.
Paz pulled off your boots for you. You'd passed out completely after being set down, all flustered and moody. He'd tried to stop you earlier, only receiving a few combative looks, which included you puffing out your cheeks like a frog and raising your shoulders in a mock attempt to seem bigger than you were. You weren’t mean or off putting; you were determined and willful. He had also been helping where he could with welding, since he wasn't completely useless when it came to repairs. But you didn't stop. Even he had taken a few breaks, trying to coax you into shutting your eyes for a few minutes, but you'd scarfed down your rations, inhaled a cup of caf, and went back to work. Honestly, it was quite admirable and cute.
You'd given up your tip-yips to get him these parts, part of your survival to make certain he could get off this orange rock. Now that the ship was nearly complete, he was beginning to realize he didn't really want to. He liked waking up to someone making him breakfast, someone to have easy conversation with, to just... relax around. Being Mandalorian meant he didn't often have these down times. He constantly had to have his head on a swivel, watching his back, finger ready on the trigger. But these weeks, despite the pain from his injury, had been calming. You were calming.
The more he saw you in your element, the more he realized how strong you were. Not in a physical aspect, but mentally. It took a certain kind of person to be able to live out on their own without falling into an abysmal depression. You took each day as it was, put a foot forward while smiling, and had one of the most chipper, cheery dispositions he'd ever had the honor of crossing paths with. To top that off, you were an excellent mechanic, engineer, and he liked your food. Your silliness was a coping mechanism and part of your undeniable charm. And Paz was falling hard for you, maybe just as hard as his ship had crashed to this planet and the canyons nearest to your farm.
Even now, he couldn't keep his gaze off of you, all oil smeared, hair a mess of curls, tangled and dirty from laying in the sand and fixating on the task at hand. He had to give it to you, you were capable of inhuman feats of fixation. He wished half the Foundlings he taught were capable of even an ounce of your tempered focus. You were the type that if you set your mind to something, you'd read all the books you could get your hands on before trying to learn how to do it yourself.
And now with the Kote in good condition, Paz knew that your time together was coming to a close. He had to get back to the Tribe, to the planet the covert had relocated on, and that meant leaving you behind. He really wanted to ask you to come with him, perhaps as a crewmate to help around the ship, but because he wanted the chance to explore these growing feelings... but your farm. You loved the blasted thing so much and he couldn't take that from you. He doubted you'd want to go. For now, he'd enjoy what time he had left with you; his little ray of sunshine.
---
You woke up, still groggy and bone weary from your three day stint of making repairs. Maker, why hadn't you listened and just set your head down, because you felt like shit right now. Glancing around, you noticed that you were in some sort of chamber, which appeared to be on a ship from metal walls and floor. Oh. This must've been Paz's room on the Kote. It was coming back to you. The Kote was a decent enough sized gunship that it had a captain's cabin and crew quarters. You remembered because you had been inside fixing things.
The corners of your mouth quirked and you grabbed the canteen of water sitting by the side of the bed, taking a few generous gulps before getting up. Oh... oh you were gross. Three days of sweltering heat, dirt, grime, and oil. Fuck, why had he put you in his bed? You were literally as smelly as a womp rat. Arms held out slightly, you waddle around, trying to locate the Mandalorian. Outside the cabin, you found him over by an open arsenal, jaw dropping at the ensemble of weapons that were hung neatly. Shit, you knew that Mandalorians considered weapons their religion, but you didn't think one person needed quite that many.
Paz turned and caught you staring, your arms still held out as it felt too grimy to put them back down. "How're you feeling, mesh'la?"
"Better," you admit honestly. "Dirty."
"Go wash up in the fresher," he offered, pointing in its direction.
"Uhm," you considered it for a beat before glancing back at him. "How do I use it?" That felt like a stupid question, but honestly you didn't know how. Sonic showers you just pressed a button to turn on. Water had things like... pressure valves, gauges, and oh dear lord you were overthinking something so simple but that's what you did. Everything was methodical up in that brain of yours and managing water flow and heat seemed overly complex.
Paz got up and escorted you to the fresher, which was big enough to accomodate a good sized person, such as himself. A toilet, a sink, and a large shower. There was just one knob. "You turn it like this and then twist it this way if you want it warmer," he demonstrated by turning it on, water hissing like a snake and making you jump back into him. He didn't laugh at you, which made your thankful, cheeks burning as you watched it pitter down like rain into the drain. "I have some spare clothes you can borrow."
That you could borrow? One of his shirts was going to be a tent on you! But... your coveralls were filthy. "Thanks." He left you to it, closing the door behind him as you faced your newest challenge: taking a shower in water. Now, you'd been rained on before, but you'd never taken a shower in it. Clearing your throat, you began stripping, peeling off the offensive and smelly articles, before standing awkwardly in front of the shower. Finally, you tested it with a hand, snapping it back as if you'd been burnt. Oh, ok... so just wash in it... Seemed wasteful, but then again other planets weren't as water starved. Other planets were green and had oceans. Some had ice.
You'd like to see them if it didn't mean leaving your farm. But how would that be possible?
Rather than linger any longer as the water continued to billet into the glass door, you hopped in and slid the door shut. Ooooh, this was really nice. The water was just a little warmer than your skin, the way that the dirt and grim started to slide right off. Your curls soaked through, a thick heavy mop against your back. Soap. You glanced around, noticing a part of soap and a bottle of shampoo. Usually you just used deodorant, since in sonic showers you didn't wash with anything. This soap was what you had smelled in bed, full bodied and clean. Humming to yourself, you absolutely went to town. Strangely, you were feeling a lot cleaner than a sonic shower had ever made you feel. Layers of dead skin scrubbed off, flushed from how hard you'd worked it, to the point where you were pink and raw but oh-so-clean.
When you turned the water off -- incorrectly at first, dousing yourself with ice cold water -- you popped your head out to see that a towel and clothes had been left in place of your dirty ones. How was he so thoughtful? Why was he so thoughtful? It made you smile regardless, taking up the towel and drying yourself off, a pleasant warmth radiating in your chest from the Mandalorian’s thoughtfulness. Your curls were soaked through and required being tied up in the towel to scrunch off some of the dampness. Paz had left you one of his undershirts and... nothing else. At first you were a little worried that you'd not be covered up enough, but that quickly changed after sliding it on with a pair of socks. You were pretty much covered, like a child trying on their parent's clothing. The shirt fell over your knees, the socks -- also his -- came up to your knees. The long sleeves were waaay too long for you, so you had to push those up before stumbling out of the fresher. No underwear. Those were being cleaned too.
So the moment you stepped out, a rush of fresh air went right underneath the hem of the shirt and attacked between your thighs. You swallowed hard and then managed to look over at Paz, as he'd returned to checking on his weapons. "How was it?"
"I've been in water before, but not like that. Just torrential downpours," you admit, coming to sit across from him, pulling the shirt down over your knees carefully so you don't accidentally flash him. "But it was really nice. You get to do that everyday?"
"Yes, as long as there's enough water in the tanks," he replied, which made you stiffen. How much water had you used? You'd been in there for a while. "Water isn't that expensive on other planets."
"Oh," you relaxed. "Weird." Turning your head down you look at what you believe it was a rifle, carefully taken apart. "Why did you do this? Was it broken?"
"Hm?" he glanced back down. "I was cleaning it."
"Oh, I didn't know they had to be cleaned." You wish you hadn't said that, because Paz was looking at you -- with what you could only assume was a shocked or incredulous expression beneath his helmet.
"You've... never cleaned that blaster that you have?"
"Uhhhhh," you tried to dredge up any memory of cleaning it, but came up blank. "No."
"Have you ever fired it? I can't imagine there's much here you'd need it for."
"I've fired it," you huffed, crossing your arms over your chest. You weren't a good shot. Not really. Especially since you didn't have a reason to practice. You just figured having it might save you from a chance encounter with any sort of wildlife that didn't get along with you. Which had yet to happen due to your natural affinity with them.
"How often?"
Again, no immediate answer. "Dunno, maybe like... once a year to check it." That was pushing it. You hadn't fired it in the last year, but you were trying to make yourself not sound half that bad.
He got up, finding your utility belt and removing the dingy little blaster. It looked so pitiful when compared to his clean, neatly arranged rifle. He sat back down and patted the space beside him. "C'mere, let's take a look." You scooted over to his side of the table obediently, anxious as to the wisdom a Mandalorian could impart. "Maker, this hasn't been oiled in ages-" he was trying to take it apart, the rusted bolts grinding with sand caught between them. Your face was starting to burn -- swelter actually -- because you knew that wasn't right, didn't take a genius to know that. It sounded awful.
He forced the slide off and there was a snap, the tiny little screw crumbling completely in a puff of metal and rust. "Well..." he started. "I'm surprised it still fired."
"Maybe..." you whispered self consciously. "I haven't tried recently."
"That's good... in it's own way," he assured you, despite the fact your blaster was most definitely broken because of your own negligence. "Here, let's take a look at mine instead. You're not going to be able to salvage that."
He removed his own blaster, twice the size of yours, and clean as a whistle. "Now, pistols come in different shapes and sizes, utilize different types of plasma -- some even use slugs. This is a standard cartridge pistol, but it's been made for my own hand. Slide comes off one the top like this-" Paz dove into the details, removing each piece, demonstrating in front of you the proper and safe manner in which it came apart. Your attention was rapt, soaking it in like a sponge, the details, where you needed to clean and oil and how often you should do it. Apparently, if you were practicing, you should clean it later in the evening -- which you'd never done. Letting the residue sit on the metal wasn't good, it corrode in the inner workings and the weapon wouldn't last as long as it could.
"Show me how to put it back together now," he requested, leaving it on the table disassembled.
You liked puzzles and that's what this was. One, intricate puzzle. He'd done it piece by piece, so this wasn't really much of a challenge. Rocking forward on your knees, you started with the grip, unlocked the trigger mechanism and began returning the parts to their home. You pinched your finger once, but it didn't so much more than make you suck a little air before continuing. Finally, you had a weapon in your hand, just as when Paz had removed it from his holster.
"Aren't you forgetting something?"
All the pieces were gone until he opened his glove and revealed the firing pin, the most important part and you'd built the pistol around nothing. Without the firing pin, it was all just for show. "Were you hiding that?"
"Wanted to see if you'd notice," he mused, sounding as if he were smiling beneath that bucket.
"That's not very nice, now I have to take it apart again," you sighed deeply, reaching for the firing pin, but he snaked his arm away and from your grasp. "Hey!" You followed after him, realizing that he was teasing you, keeping the last piece just out of your grasp as you flailed, trying to steal it from him, failing spectacularly as he deftly evaded your clumsy jabs.
"The firing pin is the most important part. I'm surprised you managed to put it together and not realize," Paz continued to elude you, which was impressive considering how big he was and that you were now standing up, still trying to wrestle it from him.
"I'm a farmer, not a Mandalorian," you remind him, grunting as he palms your stomach and pushes you just out of reach, your short arms struggling in vain.
"You're a lot more than just a farmer. Engineer and mechanic also come to mind," he let the firing pin come just within grasp and you went for it, taking the bait greedily just like Jumbles ate the eggs right off your lap. Paz removed his hand from your stomach and you fell.
Sailing right through the air, you tried to catch yourself as the breath whooshed out of you, heart thundering at the loss of stability, a garbled yelp escaping the back of your throat. Then there were hands, just as quickly as there hadn't been, cushioning your fall before you made impact with Paz's lap. You weren't a fan of that trick, trying to calm down as he picked you up and righted you. "Y-y-you couldn't j-just gi-ive it t-t-to me?"
"No, that was a little too fun," he admitted to your chagrin. The beskar was cold, leaching through the thick shirt you were wearing, which had climbed up a few inches since you'd been dumped in his lap, nearly baring your ass. You shivered, the firing pin finally in your grasp, glancing down at the pistol as your heart rate began to pick up in an accelerando. "Fix it."
Like this? On his lap? Oh dear, your mind was already beginning to churn a little slower than usual. Shifting, you fumbled for the pistol, fingers clammy and not as deft and confident as usual. Your loose curls puffed around you, mostly dry from your shower and smelling absolutely divine. But it was sort of in your way. You blew a curl out of your face, jolting when you felt a gloved finger trace along the crown of your ear and tuck a few strands out of the way. Your heart picked up again. Now you were glaring at the pistol as if it'd called your mother a fat bantha. Don't be distracted. You can do this. You can-- a hand wrapped around your midsection, dragging you further onto his lap, flush against his cuirass. Ok, you weren't thinking of anything more than each minute thing that the Mandalorian did.
From the steady rise and fall of his chest, the palm on your leg massaging into your flesh, the other one tight against your abdomen. Focus! He was doing this on purpose. This was all a part of his game -- and. you. weren't. gonna. lose. Were you a sore loser? Honestly, you hadn't played many games except with the Jawas and you liked to rub it in their rude little faces when you won. So yeah, you probably were a sore loser.
"Mesh'la," he drawled in your ear, causing you to tilt your neck back, throat bobbing as you finally had the pistol taken apart enough that you could return the firing pin to its home. "Can you be a good girl for me?"
You were convinced he was still trying to distract you. "W-why?"
"Because you look so pretty putting that pistol back together. Can you be good for me?" he murmured and that's when you realized it, this was a turn on for him. Seeing you, someone absolutely clueless about weapons, learn from him and then put it together piece by piece... You froze where you were, wondering how to perceive this new bit of information. You were already growing flustered, a combination of arousal and competitiveness making your cheeks hot and attention wane. There was something incredibly sexy about trying to impress a Mandalorian with your newly found skills in taking a pistol apart, even if you weren't a good shot. You just hadn't thought that he'd enjoy it so much.
"What do you want me to do?" you questioned softly, your rapid pace grinding down slowly, nearly to a halt. Replaced now with the gunning of your heart rate and the ever increasing blush jetting across your features.
"Finish and then close your eyes," he instructed.
Nodding, you completed the last pieces of the puzzle and reached to place the pistol down, finding that your arms were too short to reach the table. His hand moved from your leg, taking it and sliding it back into his holster. The next breath you took stuttered, your nerves getting the better of you as you closed your eyes. Paz shifted and then pressed a button on his vambrace, plunging the cabin into total darkness. You couldn't see, because you hadn't opened your eyes, but you could tell by the way your lids were now completely dark.
A soft click, followed by hydraulic hissing made you tilt, steadied by the man before you before your heart rocketed into your throat. The thick blanket of your hair was pushed to the side, scratchy facial hair meeting the tender side of your neck, and Maker -- oh, it was his mouth. The realization made you groan, a strangled, pitiful noise as you comprehended why he'd asked you to close your eyes. Just another safety precaution on top of the cover of night in the Kote. He sucked at your skin, biting marks down the side which burned as they were exposed to the air.
You were making the most delicious mewling noises as he kissed your skin, confirming that his decision was certainly worth it. He owed you more than this he thought, but he was also on borrowed time. In his shirt, trying to learn about weapons after he'd broken your rusted out blaster, and then managing to fixate on putting it back together despite his roaming hands... You'd done a good job too and his trick had been rather underhanded. You had put the pistol together with what you were given and he couldn't fault you for that. But perhaps he had been hoping you'd notice right away. He was still impressed that you'd been able to do it at all. There were a lot of pieces to a gun and you'd been undaunted. Then again, you were good with machines, so he hadn't expected anything less from someone who had taught themselves how to repair a starship from books.
You were precious and didn't deserve to be alone. He didn't want to leave you alone. He wanted more time to sit at a table with you, to teach you how to defend yourself, to show you all the places you were missing that were just as beautiful and wild as your home planet -- but in unique ways of their own. He wanted to bottle your sunshine and take it with him. He was afraid to let you go, afraid you'd meet your parents' fate, and that his world would be a little darker if he came back to this planet to say hello and found out you were gone. That's why this felt right, because he wanted you and didn't want to frighten you by saying it -- forcing your hand in coming with him when you loved it here.
And what did he have to offer other than himself? A constantly moving home? A covert that had to hide in the shadows? Being gone for long periods of time when he had to go on hunts to provide for the Tribe?
His mouth met the hollow of your throat, you'd been slowly turning in his grasp to his will. Cradling you in one arm, bent down to lavish attention on your neck, his other palm meeting your chest again. Ankles twisted out into the darkness in front of you, your own hands clinging to his leg as you held yourself firm, pushing your chest out a little, into his grasp as he finally crested over your jaw and met your own mouth. You were overwhelmed in an instant, an explosion of heat and sensation that rocked your whole body as you got lost in his embrace. You already knew his lips were soft, but flush to yours, they were heaven and you never wanted them to leave.
He was gentle, so astonishingly gentle for such a large, imposing man. Kindly plying at your mouth before you were the one who lost your patience. Your lips parted and you licked his eagerly, seeking entrance, wanting to feel all of him. He acquiesced, filling your mouth with his heat, tongue interlocking and a gasp causing you to sputter as he squeezed your nipple. When... when did his hand get under the shirt? You hadn't noticed, distracted entirely by the electricity you felt while kissing him.
He broke away and you whimpered, thumbs swirling circles around the stiffening peak of your nipple, flesh pebbled. "Good girl... can I take it off?"
"It's your shirt, you can take it back whenever you want," you breathed, deserving a light chuckle as he pulled it up and over your head. Careful to keep your eyes shut, your bare ass met the beskar and you hissed.
"Let's move to the bedroom," he suggested.
You nod, about to get on your own two feet when he gets up with you in his arms. You hoped his ribs weren't hurting, but you felt a bit guilty in admitting that you sort of didn't care, because you were wondering about what was going to happen. He placed you carefully on the bed and from the sound of it, he was reaching into a drawer.
"Mesh'la? I'm going to put this over your eyes. Just in case?" he offered it to you so that you knew what it was, the soft gossamer material sliding against your pads. A blindfold?
"Ok." You wanted his mouth back, squirming as you waited and he secured the blindfold around your head. While it was unfortunate that you couldn't see his body, you were still highly aroused by the amount of trust he had in you to ask for just closed eyes and now a blindfold. Huffing anxiously, you gripped one of your breasts, thumbing your nipple while waiting, wondering what he was doing.
Finally, after a couple of minutes, he returned, the bed depressing as he climbed onto it. Robbed of your sight, you leaned heavily on your sense of hearing and touch. And your hearing was shot, really only aware of the pounding of your pulse as you yearned to be touched again. A hand planted beside you, warmth radiating off of him as if he were a heater, before he kissed your collar, jolting you like a little shock of electricity, a sigh of relief following and easing your shoulders. Why... why was he doing this? Not that you were complaining, Maker no, you definitely weren't complaining -- it's just... No one had ever spent this much time on you.
He was sucking welts into your skin, each one sending lancing ripples of pleasure across your exposed flesh, as he made way down to your breasts which, admittedly, made you a bit nervous again. "Mesh'la?" he noticed that you were holding your breath. "What's wrong?"
"I-they're sensitive. And... in the past-" Oh you were going to ruin the mood, but what if he accidentally hurt you too? That would definitely ruin the mood. He’d been careful before, but this wasn’t last night and you were fully exposed for him to do as he pleased.
"I'm going to be gentle, I know..." he assured you, pressing featherlight kisses around your breasts before taking a nipple in his mouth. He teased the skin lightly, nibbling, sucking. All doubts you had evaporated like water after the wet season and you exhaled deeply again, chased with a moan of agreement. "I'd never hurt you, mesh'la. Never." And you believed him, with all your heart you believed this terrifying, intimidating warrior of legend would never hurt a hair on your head.
Massaging the breast he wasn't kissing, you arched into his palm, core melted completely, taken aback by how much this was doing for you. Your thighs pressed together, trembling with anticipation, your bundle of nerves vying for attention. He moved lower, dragging his tongue along your ribs, creating more marks on your soft tummy, before his beard scratched along your hips and you bucked. A strong hand guided your legs apart and you didn't resist, needing attention down there as you panted as if you’d run two miles and the rest of your body vibrated in expectancy.
You were expecting his hand, so when the warmth of his mouth met you down there you actually screamed.
"Woah! Hey, it's alright-" he jumped up, holding your hip down as you almost began hyperventilating.
"S-sorry. Y-you su-urprised m-me," you stammered through your confusion and fright, trying to gulp down breaths to steady your heart rate. Now, you'd given blowjobs before, but none of the men had ever reciprocated. "Yo-you don't have t-to." You'd never even suggested it before, coming under the assumption that it was just a dirty thing that men didn't like to do. "D-don't feel obligated be-because I-"
"Has no one done this to you before?"
You shook your head, cheeks flushing, thankful for the darkness to hide your face. Or... that's what you thought. You didn't know there was a light on in the room and Paz could see everything going on. So then why did you shake your head? You were too frazzled to think straight.
"Mesh'la, I want to. I want to taste you everywhere."
The confession made you whimper wistfully. "But I thought-" that guys didn't like to do this.
"I don't know why someone wouldn't have by now," Paz admitted, caressing the skin he'd marked up, admiring your complexion and body.. Even as he told you this, part of him was further aroused that he'd be the first to take this from you. "You're so pretty. Everywhere. Especially down there. Will you let me?"
Part of you was disconcerted, battling with the idea that you'd thought was a no-go for most people. But then you thought about how nice the warmth of his mouth had felt and the trust you had in him to make you feel good. Finally, you nodded again.
Paz returned between your legs, carefully warning you as he blew on your clit before lathing his tongue over it. Your neck jerked and you arched immediately, the new, foreign sensation making you cry out, but not of surprise. Gripping the blankets, your legs trembled, his palm keeping you from closing and squeezing on him. His tongue was softer than his fingers, more dexterous and able to fill your clit up entirely, tracing it in a new way that felt erotically luxurious and overwhelming. "So sweet, love. And wet. All of this for me?"
You hummed in agreement, barely able to control yourself as you clenched your teeth between huffs. Why had no one done this before? Stars, you had no idea what you were missing out on. How much more was there that you'd not experienced? He sucked on your bud, switching between lavishing attention and swirling circles. He trailed down, his tongue dipping between your folds, the insides of your sensitive thighs catching the rough edge of his facial hair.
He returned to your aching nerves, laying into you as his tongue flicked quickly, clutching your thigh as your breaths became more labored. You couldn't see, but you felt it coming, scooping low into your pelvis, pressure building to the point where you felt the reins of your control slipping and you got choked up. He might've spoken had his mouth not been what was dragging you to the proverbial edge, destroying you, obliterating you like the Death Star had done to countless planets. You disintegrated, the same bird flying over the edge, but this time both wings were healed and you soared into the sky. You kept riding, his mouth replaced with fingers as he continued his ministrations through your orgasm.
"That's it mesh'la," he soothed, the deep voice cradling you as you panted and came down, legs clutching as your clit became intensely oversensitive. He licked between your folds, removing his hand from your swollen clit and began lapping up the mess you'd made.
"W-wh-wha," you were breathy and a little incoherent, speech slurring as you tried to fumble around for him blindly.
"What is it?" he inquired calmly.
"Wh-what about you?"
"Do you want to keep going?"
"Mhm."
"Tell me what you want," he edged up the bed, coming down to lay beside you, returning his mouth to yours. He was wet, facial hair damp from eating you out, and his tongue was tacky. The taste was foreign, but not unpleasant and a little sweet. He wasn't wearing any beskar now, which must've been why it had taken him a moment to come to bed. Your palm met his bare chest and you savored the ability to finally be able to explore it. You were careful, not wishing to brush too hard against his ribs, but what you felt was as impressive as what you'd seen before. Your fingers butterflied over his strong pectoral muscles, trailing to meet in the center as you coasted between his ribs and to his solid abdomen. He was broad, hips bigger than yours, a wisp of hair descending below the belt.
"This," you slid your hand underneath his waistband, not surprised to find him hard after playing with you. It'd been like this last time. Even though you claimed it, you were partially terrified of trying to accommodate his cock. A thrill rushed through you, the idea of the immense pleasure it could bring or how it'd fuck you within an inch of your life. There was no knowing until you tried and you wanted to try.
He huffed in your ear, "You certain?"
"Yes," you asserted, squeezing him and enjoying the moan that followed; your small palm couldn’t even fully encircle his girth. Yet it was the unmodulated tone of his bass, filling your belly up with warmth as he laid beside you. Stars, his voice was so much better, if that were even possible. Every breath, noise, and huff no longer crackling with static and the full heat of it numbing your senses.
"You... should be wet enough, but-" he considered you, Maker he wanted to do it, but you were so small. You weren't frail, you'd proven this by now, but the difference in size between the two of you was severe. You only reached up to his chest while standing, not even his shoulders. He was afraid of breaking you.
Now your hands had wormed down and you cupped his balls, squeezing all recourse from his mind as he moaned again. "I trust you."
Paz drew in a deep breath, filling his diaphragm as he considered the logistics very, very briefly. His ribs still hurt and they were aching now. "You'll have to go on top, mesh'la."
You were always up for a challenge, despite the fact that his words sort of scared you. On top? As in getting speared by him? Absolutely split open with nowhere to go? He was rubbing reassuring circles into your side, giving you the time you needed to think about this before you finally gave another 'mhm'. Hooking your fingers of the waistband of his pants, you helped guide them off before he sprung up in your palm. Able to estimate where his hips were, you threw a leg over and pressed his shaft into the heat of your folds, beginning to slick him with your wetness. Each stroke against him was debilitating, from the sensation of your pussy, to the way your perky breasts bobbed, and the cascade of hair fanned out in a curly cloak behind you. Paz was absolutely entransed.
Finally, you decided you were wet enough to make your attempts. Realizing what you were about to do, he gripped your hips as you came up onto your knees, touching his weeping head to your heat. Your legs began to quiver, anxious but also excited, blood rushing as quickly and suddenly as a flash flood as you tested carefully. Just his head stretched you wide and there was more to follow. This was gruelling work, so painfully slow that you weren't even certain it was possible as you coasted down an inch and stiffened. Drawing a deep breath, you shimmied more and let out a heart stopping moan. The rest of him slicked up and you yelped as he was buried to the hilt.
Both of you froze, mostly you because you hadn't expected the rest to go in so easily. Not easily exactly. Your entire insides felt as if they'd been rearranged at this point and you didn't know if that was good or bad or if moving would make it worse. So you sat there, on the brink of panic.
Paz was frozen because you were so fucking tight. His cock felt as if it were being strangled by you and you weren't even doing anything. His head fell heavy against the pillow and he tried not to spend himself in that moment, but it was difficult. You were silken inside, the tight walls a vice grip around his cock and pulsing around him.
And then you moved, testing the waters a little bit and bucking forward as you knew this was going to obliterate you. Not in the same sense as the orgasm Paz had brought you to before, but in the sense you were going to hurt tomorrow. Even now your legs ached as you mounted him, refusing to move properly as you tried to ride him.
He could see your struggling and the valiant effort you were making to move, but he gleaned that this was overwhelming for you too, your pubic area distended slightly as your tiny frame managed to fit him. Maker, the sight of that caused him to shift, grinding his hips into you, watching as you released the lip you were biting and cry out gently. He could see his own form in you, stretching you, but somehow still fitting aside from the telltale bulge.
"We can... we can stop-" Paz offered despite the fact he didn't want that. He wanted to keep going. He wanted to see how he moved inside of you, filled you up, and made you whimper. His thoughts were derailing and he was losing his composure.
"N-no. I just... need help," you told him dolefully.
He could do that. "Just tell me if it's too much." He began slowly before smoothing his hands along your hips. The last thing he wanted to do was break you before leaving you on your own. The rhythm was slow at first, each soft strike causing you to moan in protest, but it was the slowness that hurt more. You began to move into him, picking the pace up a bit, working in tandem so that his hands could guide and assist your trembling legs. It still hurt, but it was a blistering white burst, each hit against your pelvis a battle between pleasure and pain. Maker, you'd never been stretched so wide before and it was so good, an experience of ecstasy you’d never had the honor of battling, clenching your jaw as you fought for control and were beginning to unravel at the seams.
You moaned his name finally, incapable of keeping a straight face, the result an even quicker assault into your cunt, his fingers brushing back against your clit as you panted.
"Mesh'la, Maker-- you're so fucking good. So tight and perfect. Cum for me a second time? Will you?"
"Mm," you couldn’t even talk as you could feel it building up in you as he drew quick circles, pounding into you, your back aching as you tensed. Your ailing core was glazing over and your eyes rolling back into your head as you started to fall away. "A-ah. I-I'm going to, b-but-" Where would he finish? You weren't on any kind of birth control, you hadn't needed to be for a couple of years now.
He shifted, throwing you down against the mattress with ease, before continuing to strike into you. This angle was different, his mouth meeting yours, the soft mutterings in a language you didn't understand not mattering. You knew he was saying sweet things in your ear. "Where?" he knew it was coming, you were on the brink of an orgasm, toes curling.
"O-on me," you managed, just as your body betrayed you, muscles snapping into rigidity and voice halting to a pitiful whine in the back of your throat as you lost sense of up and down. You were snared by the rapture of each forceful pound into your cunt, fingers still tracing your clit, until you were overwhelmed entirely and mumbling incoherently.
It took all his will as you clamped down around him, walls fluttering and back arching beneath him. The darling noises in tandem with how good you felt made it gut wrenching to pull out and stroke out the last few bits of his orgasm, spending his seed on your breasts and stomach. The pearly ropes flew from him as if he hadn't just been sucked dry a few nights ago. Glistening in the low light with his cum, your chest continued to bob as you came down from your high a second time. You were a pretty sight, one that he admired as you tried to catch your breath.
Eventually, you brushed your chest, coming away with the sticky cum. Bringing it up, you slid your fingers into your mouth, suckling away the precious liquid just as you had done before. You savored the taste of him, finding yourself hungry for it again after last night. Paz was leaning back against the headboard, length twitching as he watched you lazily mop up his spent load and place it between those plush lips and swallow. You missed a few spots in your blindness, but Paz scooped it up, bringing it to your mouth where you cleaned his fingers. He kissed you after, an insistence mess of his lips as he tried to prove what he was feeling with that kiss.
"Mesh'la," he purred, pulling you back across the bed and into his arms. You fit perfectly enough that he could snake his arm around your hip and nestle onto the curve of your ass.  "Are you hurt? How are you feeling?"
"Good.. tired, but good," you mumbled, naturally nuzzling into the side of his pec as his arm came around you like that other night. Your legs ached, numbed slightly and from how you’d been split open further than ever before, but you didn't regret any of it. "Was it good for you? I'm sorry I had to ask for help."
"Don't be sorry, I didn't think you'd even be able to fit me," he chuckled, brushing your thick hair back and coasting his thumb in crescents along your hipbone. "You were amazing. So perfect. Just wish my ribs weren't still hurting."
"Are they ok right now?" you reached up gingerly, grazing over the afflicted side.
"They're fine."
"Maybe I shouldn't have... you did turn me over at the end..."
"Shh, I'm fine," he assured you, grabbing the edge of the blanket and tugging it over both of your forms. "Just go to sleep. I'll be here in the morning. You're safe."
"I know," you mumble, nearly incoherent as you're pushing a kiss into his collarbone. "I know."
---
He was there like promised when morning came, strong, solid, warm, and snuggled close, but you were also duly reminded that you hadn't been home a lot in the last few days while working on the Kote. You really didn't want to leave his side, because there were probably only a few days left of getting to be beside him, but you also couldn't ignore your animals. The idea of pulling away made your every fiber shriek in disdain, because you’d wanted this more than anything. To wake up beside someone, to be in their arms, and to just waste an entire day there.
"Paz," you whispered, poking his chest lightly.
"Hm?" he sounded groggy, as if you'd woken him up by doing that.
"I have to go check on the farm," you said apologetically. Truly, you didn’t want to go. "Do you have your helmet nearby so I can get up?"
His fingers tightened around you, the idea of having to lose you not a fond one, but you had responsibilities. Sighing, he grabbed it off of the nightstand and slid it back on, smothering the clean smell of you and the breaths he’d once felt against his cheek. Each moment that you both lingered like this staved off the eventual separation. Chasing it away like a bad dream. But sleep was coming and you couldn't keep that nightmare away forever, nor the sorrow that would chase after. "I'll meet you there in a bit."
You removed the blindfold after the sound of the helmet clicking back into place. Finally able to see, his chest was revealed to you and you could make out the lattice work of scars along it that you hadn't quite noticed before when you'd stripped him to heal him. They were hidden beneath his chest hair, but this close, you could really see them. Maybe you'd get to ask about them before he left. You tried not to wince at the idea, shoving it to the back of your mind after pressing a kiss to his chest.
"Where did you put my clothes?"
"In the ion cleaner, next to the fresher."
"See you soon," you hummed, heading out, naked as the day you were born to find your clothes where he'd told you. They were clean and fresh, vacant of oil and clay filled sand. Throwing it back on, you snapped the scrunchie on your wrist around your hair and smiled gently. This was his home, so neat and clean when it wasn't in disarray from a crash landing. It suited him, you decided. There was a homey feeling to it despite it just being a starship. Maybe that was because of the night you'd shared around the table, talking about something that was a part of his everyday life, leaning about it... he had described everything so well to you.
There was only one speeder bike, but you knew the path well enough that walking on this fine morning wasn't a big deal. Sunlight smiling over the ridge, not yet basking you in its warmth as it hadn’t crested the edge of the canyon. Trudging up the pass, you hummed a soft tune, finding that despite your legs being a kind of achy, that you're in a really good mood. It didn't really skim your mind that you hadn't seen Jumbles in a few days. He wasn't actually your pet, just a wild animal that liked your company. He was probably fine, hunting in the nearby passes while you only checked in periodically to feed the remaining tip-yips. Wait... How many days had it been? It might've been two since you went home.
Picking up your pace, you chugged up the rest of the hill and glanced at the coop. No chickens. Aw hell, did those fucking assholes take all of them? Usually they made pretty well on their bargains. Fuck. You'd have a stern talking to Tho next time you saw him. Maybe you'd be even angrier if you weren't in such a pleasant mood from your evening with Paz, but you were already destined to go to the city. Grumbling, you stomped over toward your home something catching your eye. Not something... more like a few things. There were a handful of speeder bikes out in front of your house.
Had someone stopped by? Ah, well as long as they hadn't dumped the place you supposed that was fine. Make themselves at home within reason. You went to the front door and opened it, somewhat excited to have other guests. Man, so many people all in such a short amount of time!
And then your chipper smile slid right off. Sitting at your kitchen table was a pod of stormtroopers. "Uhhhhhhhh," you froze in the doorway. You were good at fixing things, but reacting on a dime during a stressful encounter? Shit. You were absolute massiff shit at that.
"Do you live here?" one trooper inquired.
"Y-yeah," you looked between them, realizing that they were playing Sabacc. Ha. That was kind of funny. "Am I in trouble? Can I help you with anything?" You clasped your hands in front of you to keep them from shaking. The Empire had been looking for Paz. Is that why they were here? Nothing else on this planet that might interest them.
"Depends. Have you seen a Mandalorian?"
You giggle, because you're extremely nervous and that seems the logical thing to do. Had you seen a Mandalorian? You'd slept with him last night. Was that the Mandalorian they were looking for? "Nu-uh," you lied, hooking your fingers in your utility belt. "Why would a Mandalorian be all the way out here? Ain't nothing out here."
"You're out here," a stormtrooper pointed out. This one was in all black armor and he sounded more dangerous than the others. The grit of his tone raked unpleasantly down your spine and your anxious smile quavered. "What's a pretty little thing doing out in the middle of nowhere?"
"Workin'," you grumble.
"No husband? No family?"
"Gotta husband," you protested, hoping that saying this would deter them from doing anything... bad. Kriff, what were you kidding, they were going to do whatever they wanted unless Paz was right behind you and you knew he wasn't.
"No, you don't," the dark stormtrooper laughed. "You're here on your own. I know, because I went through this shack."
Fuck. Welp. You had two choices and you didn't have a blaster, so you turned around and fucking booked it. Flight. Definitely flight. You heard them shuffling after you, legs regrettably weak from your tryst with Paz and you were stubby and short. Adrenaline did a good amount of the work for you as you sprinted back down into the ravine, sorta praying a krayt dragon would pop up and save your sorry ass.
"Stop running!" You were yanked right off your feet, held up by the back of your coveralls like a kitten. You garbled, losing a chunk of the oxygen in your lungs as you swayed. "You know where he is, don't you?"
"N-no! I do-on't know w-what you're talkin' 'bout!" You thrashed helplessly in his grasp, the dark trooper leaning in.
"Mhm, so I'm guessing that your nonexistent husband gave these to you," he poked at a sensitive mark on your neck, making you gasp, completely forgetting that Paz had given you those. "I mean, if I found you out here on your own, I probably would've done the same. Look at you. Must be lonely to let some random mando sleep with you. Tell us where he is and I'll show you a better time. What a real Mandalorian is like."
He was Mandalorian? He was wearing the wrong armor. You gave him a look down before bucking, continuing to thrash to no avail. Nothing ever happened on this planet. Why the one time something really good happened it was followed by the freaking Empire?
"Stop," the trooper ordered, but you didn't, you just kept flopping around like a fish hoping he'd drop you. "Stop!" He slapped you so hard that you felt it in zip all the way down to your toes. Now you stopped, ears ringing and eyes unfocused as stars danced in front of your vision. "There. That's a good girl. Now tell me where the Mandalorian is and I'll be a little nicer next time." Good girl? No, he hadn’t done anything to deserve calling you that.
You gave him a contemptuous glare after your vision stopped spinning, still rather pitiful coming from you. He was waiting for an answer. So you cursed at him in Jawaese, deserving of another earth rending slap.
"You've seen him. Where. Is. He?" he drew his blaster and pointed it at you, cold metal meeting your tender throat. "I thought people were hospitable on this planet. You've been nothing but a hassle. The Mandalorian's not worthy dying over. Just tell us where he is and we'll let you go."
Maybe the Jawas hadn't taken your tip-yips. How many days had the Imps been here? You glanced around, jaw stinging and weary from your fight. You were still off your feet like a petulant loth-cat being held by its scruff. The other troopers were milling around, kicking over supplies, they'd pushed 6PO to the ground and it couldn't get up, legs flailing, cricking quietly as it couldn't speak to ask for help. Jumbles wasn't around, which didn't make any sense. Jumbles was always around. Jumbles was-- and then you saw him. Over by the barn door where you stored your speeder bikes, his legs sticking out from the door.
"Jumbles?" But you knew he wasn't going to get up. You knew you weren't going to see his stupid drooling face. You could feel the lack of lifeforce from him. They weren't going to let you go. No, one of the stormtroopers was pouring fuel all over the tip-yip coop, another was pilfering through your greenhouse. "Jumbles?!" You were more hysteric this time, blinking tears as you began crying over the massiff.
The death trooper glanced in the direction of the barn. "Oh that?" he tilted his blaster away to laugh. "That thing was your pet? Thought only Tuskens kept them. Learn something new everyday. So, what's it gonna be, dala?"

Chicago: Become Human (Teaser)
Hey guys, it’s February. Here’s a little teaser of my fanfic. Still scheduled to go up on or around Valentine’s day.
Paring: Connor x OFC Summary: A damaged RK800 “Connor” model android is repaired and repurposed to work as a bodyguard for a private foundation.
**********
Chicago: Become Human
Chapter One: Connor Repurposed
October 2037 – One year and one month until the android revolution.
The RK800 model, serial number 313 248 317-48 sat in the back of the police cruiser with detached patience. Designated “Connor” by his designers, the android was at the mercy of the officers in the front seat. He went wherever they deemed to take him. Androids were not allowed to drive. They were also not permitted to carry any sort of firearm. They were allowed to work jobs and handle people's money, or look after children without human supervision. But cars and guns, the public was not ready to trust them with such things alone.
Connor had no opinion of it either way. He was not programmed to simulate opinion, only tell facts as he saw them. He was also programmed for infinite patience, which led to many, many hours sitting in the back of police cruisers, sometimes even locked inside alone. Connor had no opinion of this either.
Instead, he idled his time by rolling a quarter over his knuckles, back and forth, over and over in a perfect ripple. He had found the coin in one of the cruisers a few weeks ago and offered it to the officer on duty. The human just looked at it as if the money wasn't worth the effort to put it in his pocket and told Connor to keep it if he liked.
Connor didn't know about liking it, but he did keep it. In those quiet hours when he was forgotten in the back of the squad car, he would pull the quarter from his pocket and fiddle with it. Flipping it up in the air was the first thing he taught himself. Then it was rolling it over his knuckles from one hand to the other. Then came more complicated tricks: spinning it on his finger tips, flicking it from one hand to the other, nearly faster than the human eye could catch. He did not know why he taught himself these tricks, he just did them.
The squad car pulled into a small neighborhood. Connor noticed young children riding their bikes and trikes in the cul-de-sac where their target destination was located. Not an adult in sight—human or android. Very irresponsible, Connor observed. As the two officers in the front opened their doors, there was clear yelling coming from the house where they parked. The car doors were shut, leaving Connor alone inside. The back doors of the cruiser did not open from the inside, as that was where perpetrators were placed. Connor was used to it.
The entire purpose of the RK800 test model was to construct a perfect program that would eventually allow Cyberlife to release an enhanced android exclusively available to police departments. Something far more advanced than the regular beat cop models they already used. The main goal was to provide quick analysis to on-site crime scenes and assist in more complicated police matters. Especially those involving other androids, which, in just the few past months, was becoming an issue that had never arisen before.  When the Detroit Police Department was given the android, however, they didn't seem to know what to do with him, which was why Connor spent so much time in the car.
He expected it to be much of the same this time, until the officer on the passenger side opened the door for him.
Officer Green was his name. “There's an android on scene. We might need extra assistance.”
“That's what I'm here for,” Connor said politely. He put the coin in his pocket as he stepped out of the car and straightened his tie. It was in his coding to always look as professional as possible. Cyberlife was trying to sell a product and it was his duty to make the product always look good.
Neighbors were gathering around the yard as the homeowner, a middle-aged woman, continued to scream hysterically in the driveway. Particularly at the the individuals that sat locked in her car. She had been frantically yanking on the door handles, screaming and swearing, and beating on the windows when the officers had pulled up.
“It's about time you got here!” The homeowner then turned her rage on the officers as they arrived. “That thing could have hurt my kids by now while you took your sweet ass time!”
Neither officer looked particularly concerned with the scene. As they tried to placate the woman about their lack of punctuality, Connor scanned the car. There were three bodies inside: two human, one android. The humans were in the back seat. Both were male, twins. Likely between the ages of five and six. They looked concerned, their hearts beating a bit faster than normal.
The android sat in the front seat of the car, hands on the steering wheel. She was an RX200: a domestic model specifically programmed for housekeeping and minding younger human children. Her face also looked stressed, her LED flickering quickly between yellow and red.
“That android could have taken off with my boys and done God knows what to them!” the homeowner continued to rant. “I called the station nearly forty minutes ago!”
“Ma'am, I assure you that is not a possibility,” Connor offered before the other officers could reply. “The RX200 model is programmed to be protective of children, not to harm them. And all Cyberlife androids have a fail-safe. Their program freezes if they attempt to drive any vehicle. The time-frame of our arrival would not have mattered. The android is incapable of driving away.”
The woman looked at him as if a lamp post suddenly started talking to her. She turned back to the officers. “Get that damn thing out of my car and away from my babies!”
Assured by Connor's words, neither officer responded as urgently as the mother. “Can you tell us why the android put the kids in the car?” asked Officer Barton, the one who had driven them to the scene.
“I have no idea. It's been glitching these past few weeks. I've been meaning to take it in for maintenance, but I haven't had the money.”
“Ma'am,” Connor offered again, “if you like, I can access the car's computer and unlock the doors.”
Suddenly he was someone worth the woman's attention. “Oh, yes please! Unlock the car!”
Connor hacked into the car's system with ease, but as he ordered the machine to unlock the doors, he was blocked by another cybernetic entity. The clash of two sent a painful feedback into his processor as a female voice screamed in his head. “GET OUT!”
Connor jerked back from the assault, his systems scrambling to block out the other android.
“What's wrong?” Officer Barton asked him.
“The other android, she's communicating with me over my radio frequency.”
“Stay out! They're safe with me!” the female android yelled in his head. Her voice was strained, static, and glitchy. “These are my children! Not hers! I raised them! I fed them! I put them to bed! My children! She can't take them away from me!”
“She thinks the children are hers. That you are trying to take them away,” Connor translated for the rest of them.
“I am trying to take them away from it! It's broken!” the mother spat. “I am their mother! I carried those boys in my body! How dare that plastic piece of--”
As the woman stalked toward the car, the engine jumped to life and everyone froze.
“She can't,” Connor insisted. “Her programming will never allow her to leave the driveway.”
The car lurched back and stopped, and lurched again, as if the driver were having physical trouble pushing down the pedal.
“Shouldn't be possible,” Connor muttered to himself.
“Stop it!” the mother screamed. “Stop it from taking my babies!”
The car lurched again as it backed out of the driveway.
“No, no, no!” Officer Barton called as the android-operated vehicle plowed its back end into the police cruiser.
With a grinding of gears, the car was forced into drive, the damaged back bumper now scraping on the ground. Connor processed the car's intended pathway instantly. The android was driving blind with panic, focusing only on fleeing. It took no notice that it was now putting other children in danger. Something that none of the Cyberlife models should have been capable of doing. They were programmed to shut down instantly if they were about to act on harming any human. And yet, here was an android driving a car and careening straight for a little girl pedaling a purple plastic tricycle.
Connor sprinted into the pathway of the fleeing vehicle. As the little girl came up fast, he dove bodily into the blacktop, shoving the small body out of the way. He saw the blunt nose of the runaway vehicle careening toward him.
He was aware of physical impact, then static.
Then nothing.
**********
Model RK800 “Connor”, serial number 313 248 317-48 was aware as he was brought online. His internal clock synced with online routers to confirm it had been two months since he had been active. Immediately, a smattering of damage reports flooded in. He felt no pain, but also could not feel his left arm. It was completely torn off. The rest of his limbs he was unable to move. He wondered if that coin was still somewhere on his person.
“Well, look, I guess it does still work,” said a female voice.
There were three humans standing in front of him. The one who spoke was Amy Witman, a technician with Cyberlife. Connor recognized her from his memory banks. She had begun working with the company two models ago. Each Connor, after the body was damaged, would have all programming, memories and data downloaded into a new body and sent back out into the field. The current Connor was eighth in the line of androids sent out in the field. After being offline for so long, no doubt the ninth Connor was already back with the police department for weeks now. Perhaps even that was damaged and now the tenth was in the back of someone's squad car.
There were two other humans with Amy: a broad, tall female with sharp features and short, dark hair, and a much larger male with a short marine-style cut and various pale scars on his face. Neither of these humans were in Connor's database.
“It's pretty hashed,” said the unknown female. “Is it even worth the effort to put it back together?”
“Yeah, the Detroit PD is pretty rough with them,” Amy agreed with a bit of irritation. “Those guys don't understand how expensive these are. They'll just take them anywhere. Several have come back with bullet holes. We do have other RK800's in storage that are brand new. Maybe you should ask about getting one of those.”
The unknown male stepped closer to Connor, eyeing his form up and down. “This is the one that jumped in front of a moving vehicle to save a kid, right? This is the one I want. And since it's all chewed up, no one's going to care if we do a little customizing when we put it back together. Maybe change that innocent little baby-face, too, while we're at it.
The unknown female took her turn to get close to Connor's face. “Nah, leave it that way. He's cute. She'll like it.”
Amy stepped forward and turned the android off. And Connor ceased to exist once more.

GUIDE TO CARNIVAL CRUISE DRINK PACKAGES Currently, @Carnival offers two drink packages, the Cheers Drink Package and Bottomless Bubbles. Most likely, you are interested in learning about the Cheers Package. This is the Carnival Cruise alcoholic drink package. Regardless of the drink package you choose, all drink packages have the same terms and conditions. Cruisers have to purchase a Carnival Cruise drink package for the entire duration of the trip. All cruisers in a cabin must purchase the package, and the package costs do not include an additional 18% gratuity added at checkout. Our Carnival Drink Packages review focuses primarily on the cruise line’s alcohol drink package. Currently this package is $59.99 a day before the gratuity. This package covers all alcoholic drinks up to $15. This includes beer, wine, mixed drinks, frozen drinks, and specialty cocktails. The package also includes premium non-alcoholic drinks, like soda, specialty coffees and teas, as well as Powerade. While there is no limit to how many non-alcoholic beverages one can consume, there is a limit to how many alcoholic beverages one can drink with the package. Right now, Carnival limits cruisers to 15 alcoholic drinks in a 24 hour period. When determining if the Carnival Cruise drink package is worth it, you need to know your own drinking habits. If you would consume more than 5 drinks a day, on average, the package is probably a good value. Beers drinkers need to regularly put down closer to 7 lagers a day to make it a good value. Neither of us regularly drink that many alcoholic drinks, but we do consume plenty of specialty coffee, bottled water, and other non-alcoholic beverages that we still think the Carnival drink package is worth it. many factors involved in   Deciding if a beverage package is right for  your next Cruise we've had the chance to test   Out the carnival drink package on a few recent  sailings and we see several pros and cons of   Purchasing one so if you have a Carnival Cruise  coming up this video is for you as we give you   All the details to help you decide if you should  purchase a drink package up next good [Applause] Welcome aboard Cruisers I'm Don B from eat sleep  Cruise where we help you plan the perfect Cruise   So you can see the world one word at a time  now while there might be benefits to buying   A drink package there are also some reasons  why a cruise ship drink packaging actually be   A complete waste of money so in this complete  guide to dream packages on Carnival we detail   The plans drink prices and answer the most common  questions we hear from Cruisers to help you decide   If a carnival drink package is right for your  next Cruise now before we dive into the basics   You might be asking yourself what drinks do you  actually get on a Carnival Cruise for free well   Some beverages that are part of the Carnival  Cruise Fair are available 24 hours a day in   The Lido Marketplace they're also free while  dining room dining rooms these options include   Non-bottled water lemonade iced tea hot chocolate  and non-specialty coffees and teas along with   Some juices during breakfast so that's the only  thing that's actually covered in the cruise Fair   So if you want something else to drink on a  Carnival Cruise you will need to pay extra   Now before diving into details there are some  Carnival drink package Basics that you need to   Know about the program all drink packages on  Carnival Cruises are priced per person per day   You must purchase a drink package for the  entire length of the cruise you're not able   To purchase it for slight dates the stated prices  do not include the additional 18 service charge   Which is added at the very end when purchasing  the package additionally applicable state and   Local taxes will be applied to purchases  made in U.S Waters once on board the ship   The beverage packages are non-refundable and  non-transferable after 9 pm the evening before   Your departure dream packages on Carnival are not  offered on two-day cruises or chartered sailings   You can use the drink package almost everywhere  in the ship this includes the bars and lounges   Complimentary dining venues and Specialty  restaurants however Carnival's drink package   Does not work at the cruise Line's private islands  Half Moon key or princess key in the Bahamas   They're essentially two ways that you  can purchase the carnival drink package   You can purchase drink packages on Carnival  online free Cruise or once on board the ship   Purchasing the beverage package pre-crews  will save you 10 off the onboard prices   The cutoff for pre-purchase is 11.59 the day  before embarkation if you pre-purchased a carnival   Drink package it'll be activated upon boarding  the ship you should head to a bar once on board   The ship for a sticker which will be placed on  your sale and sign card due to state laws the   Cheers package cannot be sold on the first day of  the cruise on departures from Texas or New York   If you have pre-purchased the package it will  only be activated at 6am on the second day of   The cruise drinks purchased on the first day of  the cruise will be charged to the guest sale and   Sign card in the usual manner when sailing from  those two states now while it's never mandatory   To buy a drink package there is no sharing of  dream packages or using your package to order   Drinks for other Cruisers so if one guest in The  State Room wishes to purchase a beverage package   Each adult in the cabin needs to purchase  one as well cruises must be 21 years of age   Or older to purchase the cheers program which is  Carnival Cruise Line's alcoholic beverage package   Now for the most part when you hear the word  drink package that's what you're probably   Thinking about the cheers program however Carnival  Cruise Line does offer a second drink package   Known as bottomless Bubbles and this is the  unlimited soda program on Carnival Cruise ships   When compared to the competition the drink  package on Carnival Cruise Line is actually   Pretty modestly priced the cheers package starts  at 59 per person per day whereas the bottomless   Bubbles soda package starts at 6.95 per day  for children and 9.50 per day for adults now   Of course those prices are before the 18 gratuity  which will be added at the end of the transaction   Now if you're looking to save money we highly  recommend that you purchase the drink package   Pre-cruise as you can save 10 on your Carnival  drink package by buying it online however in our   Experience we don't really see any other discounts  other cruise lines like Royal Caribbean often   Run pre-cruise deals where you can save 25 30 or  even sometimes 40 off the retail price of a drink   Package also we rarely see travel agents give  the drink package as a perk unlike some other   Premium cruise lines like Celebrity Cruises  or Princess Cruises another major difference   Between the carnival drink package and some of the  competition is a number of drinks included in the   Drink package again contemporary cruise lines like  Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line have   Unlimited drink packages meaning in theory you can  get as many drinks as possible throughout the day   However with Carnival Cruise Lines drink  package you cannot consume more than 15   Alcohol drinks per 24 hour period which  starts at 6 a.m and runs till 6am of the   Following day now soda and other non-alcoholic  beverages are unlimited with the package   No matter what package you choose you can also  only get one drink at a time and there's a five   Minute wait time between orders also with the  carnival drink package there are no double shots   As that's actually considered ordering two drinks  at once of course staff do have the right to   Refuse You by our service if you are intoxicated  so knowing your limits is just as important on a   Cruise ship as it is during regular life back  on land now as we mentioned Carnival Cruise   Line offers only one alcoholic drink package  known as the cheers beverage package but many   Cruisers just refer to this as a drink package or  the alcoholic drink package this plan covers all   Alcoholic beverages including beers wine and  champagne by the glass as well as cocktails   And spirits up to twenty dollars per glass  this also includes a self-serve beer stations   Further the carnival drink package also includes  soda virgin cocktails juices specialty coffees   And teas milkshakes energy drinks Powerade and  vitamin water and half a liter bottles of water   The GS program also entitles Cruisers to a  25 discount of any drink costing more than   A 20 allowment wine in Champagne by the bottle  and beverage seminars and classes however there   Are some exclusions to the cheers program this  includes beverages sold in souvenir glasses and   Bottles of liquor also annoyingly drinks sold  at the gangway aren't included in the package   Further room service or mini bar items are also  not including this beverage package sharing   Cocktails wine machines pitchers and buckets are  not included either while there is a limit of 15   Alcoholic drinks with this Carnival drink package  soda and non-other alcoholic beverages do not   Count towards its limit with the bondless bubbles  Carnival's unlimited soda package for one flat   Fee Cruisers can enjoy all the fountain soda and  juices they want like the alcohol drink package   You can only order one drink at a time either a  16 ounce glass of soda or a 10 ounce glass juice   On Carnival Cruise Line sort of choices  include Pepsi products for juices freezers   Have the option of orange juice cranberry juice  tomato juice pineapple juice and grapefruit juice   Like the chairs program this package does not work  off the ship even at Half Moon Ki or princess keys   Bottled water and Specialty coffee are not part  of this package it's literally just soda and   The juice is mentioned other exclusions include  beverages sold in souvenir glasses beverages sold   At the gangway and room service orders now before  deciding if the carnival drink package is worth   It it might be good to have a general sense of  the carnival drink prices now in the description   Down below we have a link to our complete  guide to Carnival drink packages on our blog   Which includes several menus so you can see  the exact prices of the particular Brands and   Different cocktails and drinks that you might  want to order but in general beers on Carnival   Cruise Line start around six dollars and fifty  cents a serving Lines by the glass at around 9.50   Most mixed drinks are between 7.50 and some  cocktails do go all the way up to twenty dollars   With specialty cocktails starting  around 10.50 soft drinks cost about 2.75   Espresso-based specialty coffees range  in price from around 2.50 to 4.25   Any drinks are around 4.95 and bottles of water  are between a dollar fifty to five dollars   Of course this brings us back to the original  question our Carnival cruise packages of good   Value essentially the question is whether you'll  consume enough beverages to make the purchase   Worth it well you can use this chart on the screen  which is also found back on our website to do some   Quick math to see if you would routinely hit  the daily drink costs of the above packages   Ultimately you need to know your own  habits to determine if the dream package   Is on Carnival will be a good value during  your cruise of course you should consider   Things such as the length of the cruise and  how many ports of call are on the itinerary   For instance would you be able to sustain the  same drinking pattern on a three or four day   Cruise as you would over the course of a 7 or  10 day cruise plus if your cruise is very Port   Intensive will you be on the ship long enough  to make good use of your Carnival drink package There are some pros to dream package of course  if you pre-pay for the drink package you never   Have to worry about the bar tab at the  end of the cruise so it's very convenient   This also makes your cruise feel more  all-inclusive while we don't go overboard   With alcohol drinks see what we did there we do  consume plenty of bottled water specialty coffee   Vitamin water and Powerade and the occasional  soda combining our alcoholic and non-alcoholic   Drink purchases we usually recognize a  cost savings with the beverage package   This is especially true as my wife is a fan of  cocktails and doesn't really drink much beer or   Wine those drinks often cost 10 to 15 dollars so  it takes fewer drinks for her to hit that break   Even point and me well I just drink anything  in general if you plan on drinking around six   Alcoholic drinks a day then getting the cheers  beverage package is probably worth it for you   Of course if you wish to forego a beverage  package you can always pay a la carte for   Your drinks purchase on the ship you can  also purchase items pre-cruise via your   Cruise planner and be delivered to your state  the price for bottled water are very reasonable   On Carnival Cruise Line when compared to some  competitive brands further on embarkation day   Guests are allowed to bring on board a maximum of  12 12 ounce cans slash cartons of non-alcoholic   Beverages per person in their carry-on yes  21 years of age or older may also bring on   Board once 750 milliliter bottle of unopened  wine or champagne in that carry-on luggage   Now if you're new to cruising or nude cruising  with Carnival Cruise Line and you need more help   Planning a cruise don't worry we have you  covered we suggest you check out our latest   Video of everything that's included on a Carnival  Cruise plus what will cost you extra in that video   We detail everything that's covered in the cruise  Fair plus all those additional costs the cruise   Line doesn't tell you about that way you don't  get sticker shocked when you walk off the ship Mike Izzo https://lifesporttravel.com/?p=1858

How to Choose the Right Skateboard Deck
Tumblr media
There are quite a few exceptional elements on a skateboard, but one of the most manifestly critical is the skateboard deck. The skate deck is the flat board which you stand on when skateboarding. A shortboard, instead of a longboard or cruiser, is right for street skateboarding and vert skateboarding. It additionally remains the very nice alternative for doing tricks, whether or not you are a novice or a pro.
There are some matters to recollect once you make a decision to construct a whole skateboard, and choosing the right size of deck is the primary of many picks you'll make. Choosing a board shape is also extremely good important. The period, width, materials, and concave of your skateboard deck decide what you will be capable of do on your skateboard.
Depending on how difficult you skate, you'll need to replace your skateboard deck everywhere from after some weeks to a yr. Once the perimeters, nostril, or tail of your skateboard deck show signs and symptoms of splitting, it is time initially a sparkling board. Riding in moist or bloodless regions also can warp the shape of your board and make your skateboard wheels choppy, so be sure to replace your board if you sense or see any symptoms.
Warehouse Skateboards offers a large selection of skateboard decks in a ramification of shapes, sizes, weights, shades, and styles. Check out our stock to discover the skateboard deck that suits your style.
What size skateboard do I need?
Contrary to what you might think, width is the most important part of choosing a skateboard deck, not length or wheelbase. Skateboard decks vary in width from 7.5" to 8.25". The width you need depends on your height, shoe size, skating style, and personal preferences.
If you choose a board with a too-large width for you, you will need to exert excessive power, which can make skateboarding and trick riding difficult. If you choose a board with a too-small width for you, you'll have trouble balancing and won't feel stable. Most teen and adult riders will want at least a 7.5" width, but a wider board may feel more stable depending on your build and shoe size. Below are some general guidelines.
7.5" to 8" - Standard board for adult riders skating streets or doing more technical tricks
8.0" to 8.25" - Skating pool, ramp, rail, and parks
8.25" and larger - Vert, pools, cruising, and just going old school
Choosing a style of the skateboard deck
If you're just getting into skateboarding, it will be helpful to familiarize yourself with the different styles of boards that skateboarders use. Skateboards come in four basic shapes. Each style of deck is designed for certain kinds of skateboarding, so the board shape you choose should match the style you want to skate. From there, you can build a custom complete using components that match your skateboard deck and skating style.
Shortboard
Shortboards are the shortest style board and are designed and shaped for getting air and performing tricks. If you're leaning towards street or park skating, a shortboard style deck will be a perfect match for you. Check out our shortboard skateboards selection.
Cruiser
Cruiser boards often have kicktails but are more designed for simply cruising around. The decks are typically mid-length. Cruisers are versatile and maneuverable, making them good for cruising the streets. Check out our cruiser skateboards selection.
Old School
Old school boards typically have a flat nose and kicktails. They are usually asymmetrical, with a wider nose. Old school boards are an awesome choice for skating pools, ramps, or carving the streets. Check out our old school skateboards selection.
Longboard
If you are now not interested by doing tricks and want a skateboard to push around on for transportation, longboard skateboards, or cruisers, are a fantastic choice. Some longboards are especially designed for downhill racing. Downhill longboards generally tend to have a symmetrical form, sit down lower to the floor, and have wheel cutouts, which permit larger wheels for use. To find out greater about cruiser longboards, check out How To Buy A Longboard and read our longboard decks.
Popular picks for skateboard decks are Element skateboard decks and Zero skateboard decks. These skate decks are properly made, elegant, and to be had in a ramification of patterns.
Features of skateboard decks
Skateboard decks vary in size but most are between 7"-10" wide, and are made of seven-ply wood, bamboo, resin, carbon fiber, or plastic. Deciding which skateboard deck is best for you depends on what you will be skating and, of course, your personal brand preference. Below are some factors to consider when buying your skateboard deck.
Width
Choose your skateboard deck according to the width, not length. The average width of a skateboard deck is 7.5"- 8.25". The right width depends on your size and skateboarding style. If you buy a deck that is too wide for your height and shoe size, you will need to exert more power, which can make skateboarding and trick riding difficult. If you choose a board that is too narrow for your height and shoe size, you'll have trouble balancing and won't feel stable. Generally, teen and adult riders will want at least a 7.5" width. Larger skateboarders and those skating ramps and vert ramps should go with a wider deck, and street skaters usually need a smaller deck.
Length
Skateboard length is the distance from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail. Shortboard length falls between 28"- 32" but only advanced skaters refer to length. Width and wheelbase should be top considerations when building your skateboard, rather than length.
Wheelbase
The wheelbase is the gap between your board's inner mounting holes. The distance among those mounting holes determines how a long way apart your front and back wheels can be. Manufacturers determine wheelbase via wherein they drill the truck mounting holes on the deck. The common wheelbase is 13"-15". Although many decks only feature one set of holes, some skateboards have multiple mounting holes for vans (or "wheelbase options"). Adjusting wheelbase can dramatically affect how the board performs. Your experience degree will imply the right wheelbase for you.
Nose and Tail
The nose is the "front" of your skateboard and the tail is the "back." Which end is which can be hard to differentiate, but most decks provide you with graphics to tell the two apart. Many skateboard decks have a bigger kick on the nose and mellower kick on the tail.
Mounting Holes
Mounting holes are pre-drilled holes where the skateboard trucks are attached. Arranged as two sets of four holes; one set is near the nose, the other near the tail.
Ply
Ply is the thin levels of wood that are tightly pressed together to make the skateboard deck. Rather than making a deck from one solid piece of wood, most manufacturers layer the wood in a cross-grain pattern to create a supremely strong board. The typical skateboard is seven-ply, and most boards aren't over nine-ply.
Concave
Concave is the curve of the wood between the deck's nose and tail. Concave allows a more controlled ride and a stronger skateboard. Read our concave guide below for more information about different concave shapes.
EFP
EFP is short for Effective Foot Platform. Unlike wheelbase, which measures only distance, EFP describes the area on the topside of the deck that riders stand on to control the board. EFP indicates the part of the deck between the front and rear trucks. You can think of EFP the space of a skateboard deck that isn't the nose or tail.
Rails
Rails are the edges along the length of your board, and their shape can make a difference in how your board rides. Rounded rails are common for skateboards, and their shape makes them good for flip tricks. Sharp rails have a blunt edge, which keeps your shoes securely in place during slides. Gas pedal rails (or GPs) are a specialized rail shape where areas of the rails have been cut to a beveled edge. GPs subtract the rail's sharpness and decrease the concave. Gas pedals give you better control and comfort when doing slides. What your rails can do also depends on the concave of the board.
Skateboard concave shapes
Concave is a major factor in board performance. Skateboard manufacturers are always experimenting with new concave shapes to accommodate new types of skateboarding. Most concave shapes allow riders more foothold than a flat skateboard, which can take sliding, drifting, and turning to the next level. Here are a few of the main types of deck concave.
Radial Concave
This concave shape may look familiar to you. The subtle U-shaped curve is the most common deck shape, though some boards have a deeper curve than others. This type of concave allows your feet better grip, which can be useful in nearly all styles of skateboarding.
Progressive
This shape is a similar but more dramatic version of the radial concave. The steep wall on the rail combined with the wider base allows more secure footing and a more locked-in feel.
W-Concave
The W-shape does not extend the entire length of the deck, just the area towards the tail. The extra curve in the centerline allows you to shift more energy from your heel to your toe. The result is a highly precise, responsve board that can turn quickly.
Tub
Tub concave (also called flat-cave) is similar to a radial board, but instead of a gentle curve, the rails extend at a sharp angle from the deck. Tub boards keep your feet flatter, which makes for a mellower ride, but the sharp rails can still provide sudden shifts in energy.
Asymmetrical
Asymmetrical concave is when the skateboard's rails rise at different angles. This allows riders more power in their heels for turns.
Convex
Convex boards feature an upwards-arching deck. They are uncommon, though some slalom and downhill skateboarders love the more natural foot placement convex boards provide.
Flat
Skateboard decks with no concave are rare, with the exception of reissue old school decks. Some cutout and dropdown longboards also feature flat decks. They allow lots of space for your feet, and allow room for board walking and other showy tricks.

I LOVE YOUR HUSKY, HE'S SO CUTE!! I'm thinking of getting one myself, do you have any tips?
Aw thanks anon, Milo appreciates your compliment
Huskies are beautiful dogs but they can be a handful if you don’t know what to expect tbh; I guess I’ll just run off whatever comes to mind lmao hopefully this all makes sense
I’m on mobile so I can’t do a read more soRRY FOR THE LONG BLOCK OF TEXT
- Huskies are very athletic, energetic dogs. I can’t stress this enough - this should be the number one point on every “Things You Should Know Before Getting A Siberian Husky” list. Most people give up their huskies because they don’t realize how much energy they have. They were bred to pull heavy sleds for extremely long distances, so they have a lot of pent-up energy that needs to be released. Huskies need A LOT, and I stress on A LOT, of exercise. My dad takes Milo out for a 45 minute walk in the morning and I take Milo for a 45 minute walk in the evening, and by the end of the day he still has enough energy to sprint laps around our backyard. If they don’t have a productive outlet for their energy, it will manifest in very destructive behaviours. If you don’t think you can keep up with that, I don’t recommend getting a husky - or any sort of dog that falls under the “working category”, to be honest. These kinds of dogs need something to do or else they’ll find their own way to release their energy, like destroying things around the house or barking excessively.
That being said, Milo is an AMAZING exercise companion. Power walking? He’s down. Jogging? He’s your guy. Hiking/long distance walking? He’s all for it. You even go sprinting if you want; he’ll be able to keep up with you. Sometimes I even hop on my cruiser and let him pull me down the street - it’s the closest he’ll ever get to sledding lol. Not only does he get his exercise, but I do too, so it’s a win-win for both of us. If you’re looking for a running buddy or a pal to go on adventures with, huskies are great for that.
- Huskies don’t bark, but they can be incredibly noisy. I somehow got the one husky that makes absolutely no noise (Milo’s so quiet that I often forget he’s there), but for the most part huskies are very vocal dogs. They howl, and they love to “talk” to you and other animals. If you prefer a social dog, huskies are the breed for you, but it can get exhausting, and your neighbours might not be so fond of it either.
- Huskies can be very difficult to train. A lot of people think huskies are stupid because they aren’t as responsive to commands as, say, a German Shepherd or a Lab. They’re not stupid at all - Siberian Huskies are very independent by nature and they don’t live to please their humans; they’ll do pretty much whatever they want whenever they want. They weren’t bred for obedience; they were bred for their athleticism. If you’re looking for a dog who’s willing to do everything and anything with you, a husky might not be the best breed.
Milo won’t do anything for me if he doesn’t see a benefit in doing it; if I want him to a trick, there has to be something in it for him, like a treat or a few minutes of playtime. Huskies respond best to positive reinforcement, and like most dogs they learn best when you start training them as early as possible. Puppy classes are extremely helpful for stubborn/independent dogs - though some huskies are so clever that they’re actually able to tell the difference between a class and just training at home. They know to behave when they’re in class, but if you try the same training methods at home it might be a completely different story lol. Huskies can be super manipulative - they really know how to get what they want, so the key is to maintain consistent, and to be firm. Huskies are very pack-oriented and if they don’t sense a clear/obvious leadership role within their pack, they’ll have no problem taking it for their own.
If a husky allows you to pet and cuddle it for a little while, and then suddenly it’ll get annoyed and walk off, don’t be offended. Again, huskies can be incredibly independent and not a lot of them look for validation from humans. They’re kind of like cats in dogs’ bodies lmao sometimes they don’t mind being affectionate, and sometimes they’d rather have their own space. It’s completely up to them.
Of course, it’s a case-by-case basis. There are some Golden Retrievers out there who may not like to play fetch (Btw, a lot of huskies don’t play fetch. They weren’t bred to retrieve, so it’s not something that comes naturally to them like Labs or other breeds that fall under the Hunting category). No two dogs are alike, just like humans! They each have their own personality, so you might get the one-off super affectionate husky.
That being said, a lot of huskies HATE being alone, which is weird - this is another instance where they can be very cat-like. They don’t want your attention, but they don’t want you being away from them either. They can get very upset if they’re left alone - I think this stems from their instinctual desire to be in a pack, so they always feel the need to be part of a group or a family. There are various ways to train and condition your dog to adapting on being on its own - because realistically, you can’t be around your dog 24/7, it’s gonna have to be alone every once in awhile. Some dogs just need more time and effort to get used to it, that’s all! Just be patient, consistent, and firm - this goes for overall training your husky, not just in terms of being left alone.
- Prepare to have fur EVERYWHERE. Siberian Huskies are from…well, Siberia, and Siberia can get super cold. To cope with this, huskies have two layers of fur to keep them warm - and when you have two layers of fur, there’s twice the amount of shedding. You will find hair everywhere, and I mean everywhere. My mom brushes Milo three times a week and there’s still an abundance of hair around the house. If you get a husky - or any breed from the Spitz family, really - be prepared to do a lot of sweeping and vacuuming.
Dogs with double-layered coats will go through a period of super heavy shedding during parts of the year when the seasons change, usually when summer turns into fall and when winter turns into spring. There’ll be even MORE fur than usual, and it can come out in clumps - like….you can legit grab fistfuls of a husky’s fur and it’ll come out just like that. Since my mom brushes Milo so frequently we’ve never gone through that, fortunately, so my advice is to brush them as often as you can. Two to three times a week minimum…and you’ll probably have to vacuum at least once or twice a week just to keep your house tidy.
But there are upsides to this as well!! Their coats aren’t as oily as other breeds, so they don’t have that “dog” smell to them. They’re also very clean breeds and only need baths a few times a year (Milo actually hates water; giving him a bath is a nightmare). Huskies also clean themselves like cats do; it’s so weird. They also don’t need to go to the groomer, since they shed all of their fur anyway. You’re not supposed to shave a husky’s fur, even when it’s super hot out, because their long fur protects their sensitive skin from the sun.
- They don’t eat often. Huskies adapted to living in the Siberian Arctic, where food can be scarce. They are incredibly energetic and can burn off a lot of energy, but surprisingly they only need a little bit of food each day to get by - especially for their size. Milo only eats one a day, and he only eats 2 cups of his food at most. Sometimes he’ll only eat one cup, sometimes he’ll eat a cup and a half. If you try to force him to eat any more than that, he’ll ignore you.
I’m not sure if this is a general husky thing or if this is just a Milo thing, but Milo’s a super picky eater. He gets bored of his food fast so we always have to find new, creative ways to get him to eat. We’ll add shredded chicken on top, or crush his favourite treats into powder and sprinkle that over his food.
- They’re shitty guard dogs. Most people think huskies would make good protectors because of their intimidating, wolf-like appearance - but in reality they’re nothing like their wolfy ancestors, even though they look a lot like them. Huskies are extremely friendly dogs and most of them are warm towards strangers. Milo LOVES people, and he’ll run up and kiss whoever allows him to, even if it’s just a random person who passes us by when we’re on a walk. I’m sure if a burglar ever broke into my house, Milo wouldn’t do anything except beg the guy to play with him.
- Huskies have a high prey drive. This means they’ll usually chase after anything that moves, especially if they’re smaller. If you have a cat or any other small animal in the house, you have to take a lot of precaution because huskies can end up accidentally killing or hurting them. Usually if the husky is a puppy, they’ll grow up with the other animals and so they learn how to behave around them, but if you’re adopting an older husky, it might be difficult.
That’s all I can think of right now tbh, but I think I got a lot of the main parts down. This is all speaking from personal experience and from the research I did before I got Milo, so I hope it’s informative enough for you!!
