the thing with toarise is that its also way too straightforward of a game. point a to point b is a normal objective for video games but theres nothing that makes the trip between the points entirely worth it

i think the most insulting part of the game besides the poorly written racism narrative is that they make you go into several different rooms and make you read texts of loredump to explain that Actually there arent humans on rena doing the slavery. its all se random aliens' fault (and the entire planet of rena is evil). i also just wasnt paying attention to the game

like. okay. this story isnt missing anything its just Wrong from the start. this entire game needs to be redone to make me like it i cant think of small enough changes and additions to make me at least think this wasnt a waste of 50 hours

i was distinctly thinking "oh i wonder when we will get to the actually groundbrealing truth of the game's world" (1 dialogue option later) (steam says i got the achievement indicating i know the truth now

also now that i think of it its a bit insane to have the game manually count how many sidequests youve got left. 70ish in total or whatever. its like a checkbox rather than smth you want to work for beyond an achievement. hell, not to compare to other tales games but afaik none of them have that shit! if i wanted to find out how many sidequests tov has, id manually need ro open up saves, guides, and rack my memory in order to produce a number. arise gives it to me at the ready! it feels like i dont need to put effort into it, much less any actual brainpower bc the sidequests do little for the world building and character writing of the party
