GVGP Profile: Cornwall Capp

After going over two sides of the complexity spectrum, we've reached our first happy medium with Cornwall Capp.

Cornwall’s family tree shows that his ancestors were part of the “new blood” brigade. This means that, despite being counted among the fourth generation gang, he’s technically a third generation sim within his birth family. In terms of ancestry, Cornwall is the son of Hamlet Jr. and Tobea Dane, as well as the grandson of Hamlet Sr. and Gertrude Dane, and Macduff and Lady Scott.

Cornwall became part of the Capp family through his marriage to Regan Capp, and the pair are childless when the game starts. Unlike Bianca Monty, however, there is evidence that they were meant to be parents earlier in development. As such, Cornwall's genetic profile will be mentioned in a special essay later on.

Skintone

While Hamlet Jr.'s complexion is slightly darker than Cornwall, both of the former's parents are S1. As such, one of little Hamlet's parents either had a recessive S2 allele in their genetic codes, or his ancestry isn't what it looks like. That said, the fact that both Cornwall and Tobea have the same S1 skintone means the former could have inherited it from the latter without his father passing it down.

Hair Color

As the son of a black-haired father and a brown-haired mother, Cornwall’s black hair makes perfect sense. That said, since Cornwall's parents have different dominant hair colors, it’s safe to say that he is heterozygous.

Eye Color

Cornwall’s eye color situation is similar to Scribonia Capp’s. While both sims had parents with the same dominant eye color (dark blue in Cornwall’s case, brown in Scribonia’s), they both ended up with recessive grey eyes. Unlike Scribonia, whose only known ancestors were her parents, Cornwall has grandparents who might help us figure out just what the heck is going on.

As you can see, old Hamlet is the only one of Cornwall's grandparents to have grey eyes. With Gertrude passing down her dominant dark blue allele to her son, the younger Hamlet would have needed to have inherited his father's grey allele to explain Cornwall’s eye color. This only solves half of the puzzle, as grey eyes are not only the sole recessive eye color found in Cornwall’s family tree, but they're also only present on his father’s side. As such, we cannot proceed any further without hypothetical genetics.

When looking at the image above, you'll notice that Macduff and Lady Scott had different dominant eye colors. If you already read Tobea Dane’s genetic profile, you may recall me saying that, while her genotype was heterozygous, it’s probably not how it comes across. This situation with her son is the precise reason I made that comment.

As you can see, Tobea shares her dark blue eyes with her father, yet her mother had brown eyes instead. Without any knowledge of Cornwall’s genetic profile, you might assume that the allele Lady passed down to her daughter was for brown eyes. We now know that would be impossible because, if Lady passed down an allele for brown eyes, then Cornwall's grey eyes wouldn't make any sense.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of additional information, we are unable to deduce whether that specific gene was for grey, green, or light blue eyes. That said, for those of you who want to keep Cornwall’s genetic profile as simple as possible, assuming it’s for grey eyes would be your best bet.

As a Whole

Cornwall Capp’s filled out genetic profile. While his father's skintone requires some hypothetical genetics to explain, the fact that Cornwall shares a skintone with his mother means that it doesn't matter all that much. Even with his mother's hypothetical hair genetics, Cornwall's hair color makes perfect sense when looking at his father's side of the family tree. Finally, Cornwall's eye color, which is a trait that skipped a generation, only makes sense with hypothetical genetics.

A split Veronaville grows stronger: 1960s-1970s

Tension between the Capps, Montys, and their affiliates grew on as their parents passed away, and as they began to control the higher society of Veronaville. Due to the prior Pantalones and Montys owning several farms and transportation services, they blocked transportation stops and meetings to West Veronaville (Capps), and made sure they lacked resources for food. Holofernes, Judith, Trinculo, and Maria helped in the assistance to cut agriculture from the other side. It got so bad to the point that they created a manufactured river to split the sides up.

Consort and Contessa, with the help of Richard, Anne, Tobea, and Hamlet used their political and business affiliations to not only blackball Patrizio and Isabella, but to punish their family friends Judith, Holofernes, Trinculo, and Maria from many of the meetings, clubs, and ventures. The physical violence mainly stuck between the two feuding families. It got so bad to the point that the Monty children and their affiliates were blocked from attending private school.

It's not surprising to anyone outside of the groups to see why tourism and migration in Veronaville depleted during this period.

Capp (3) Family

Regan and Cornwall live in a smallish house on a huge lot with his parents, Hamlet and Tobea. Their little son Lear is so far a good mix of the two, but because of him, Uncle Kent couldn’t move it. Regan is not at all fond of her older sisters (she was so prickly as a kid), but she does have a soft spot for her little brother. But no space.

Cornwall is kind of an ass. He’s a lot older than Regan, and has more bolts with both of her sisters. I tried to see if I could get him to have affairs and illegitimate children with them (like @dreadpirate‘s updated version of Veronaville), but Cordelia was completely faithful, and Albany knocked Goneril up with Hal before Cornwall could XD.

Consort and Contessa were thrilled when they had 2 children Regan and Kent in a year timespan (to rub it in to the Montys), but were very stressed and overwhelmed to deal with two toddlers.

A lot of things changed in between Goneril and Regan's weddings. A LOT more children were born, family friends dying young, and people aging up. It took a while for the more regal couple to get married, but the relatively passionless Cornwall and Regan finally made it down the aisle. They probably didn't feel the rush to get married because (for better or worse), they weren't as passionate of a couple as Goneril/Albany, or Cordelia/Caliban. Also, there were not any pregnancies to force them to get married.

Kent Capp tried several times to stop the wedding. He told his parents about Cornwall's gold digging, sent Regan secret recordings of her fiance being up to no good, and even at the wedding (as well as her bridal party) made his objections known.

Everyone shut him down, and the two got married anyways. Consort and Contessa were just grateful that they could see another wedding of their children before they passed on, and the younger generation can see a Capp wedding in person.

Scribonia, Octavius, Andromache, and Hector's deaths were VERY fresh, but their final wishes was for Consort and Contessa to continue on with the wedding.

The Danes, Normans, and newly settled Gales chose their side in the feud, and the neutral Gossamers and Summerdreams made their way to see the Capp couple tie the knot.

Despite the happiness, there was a lot of stress with the wedding planning. Contessa MADE SURE Consort signed an IRON CLAD prenup (which lasts for 200 years), and dealing with the paperwork, and the estates of their parents.

Mid 1980s.

What the Capp and Monty foursome did not realize was that their children Claudio and Cordelia (who were not only the heirs, but the favorites of their parents) were....... getting busy. Both were able to be some of the most popular teen (and adult) relationships, as their connections with Olivia Dottore and Caliban Gale was undeniable....... To the point that they had most (or all, depending on the couple) had all of their children by the time they were 20. Both parents had to clean those scandals up.

Antonio and Hero Arlecchino were also a teen couple, but were one that....... confused people. Antonio by all means was a nerd who was awkward and kept to himself, while Hero was the talkative, sociable popular girl. Despite what everyone claimed, the two were able to make it work, though they waited quite a bit longer to have their twins.

It is alleged that both Goneril and Regan's marriages to Albany Norman and Cornwall Dane were arranged, and....... it's complicated. Consort and Contessa DEFINITELY talked up their friends to accept the relationships, but....... there WAS a point in time where Goneril and Albany were in love, despite the age difference. And while the age difference between Regan and Cornwall isn't as noticeable, they were not in love, but were attracted to one another, especially with the other's drive to create empires on their own, and the work ethic their partner had.

GVGP: Capp & Monty 3

Having covered almost every sim in this group, let’s review our findings.

Similar to last time, all of the information for each sim is split into several charts. Like in the individual entries, everything is color-coded, and I will give a special mention to any oddities found in a sim’s genetic code when they come up.

Oddity 1: Hamlet Dane Jr.’s S2 Skintone

To explain this Hamlet Jr.’s skintone discrepancy, we would have to assume that he either had a tan or that there were some unknown factors involved.

I recently discovered that there is a way to explain this discrepancy, so this blurb is no longer relevant.

Hair Color

Oddity 2 1: Tobea Dane’s Brown Hair and Richard Norman’s Black Hair

I ended up grouping Tobea and Richard’s hair color discrepancies together since they’re very similar. Tobea could have had brown hair if her mother had a brown allele in her genetic code. As for Richard, his black hair makes sense if his mother had a black allele in her genetic code.

Eye Color

Oddity 3 2: Consort Capp’s Grey Eyes

One of Consort’s grandparents would have needed an allele for grey eyes in their genetic code. We know that that grandparent could not have been Eetion because he was the only sim who could have passed down a brown allele to Andromache. If that grandparent was Queen, then Hecuba was likely homozygous, and Priam would have been the source of Hector’s green eyes. Were Hecuba or Priam the source of the grey allele, the other would have needed an allele for green eyes to pass to Hector, and Queen would have likely been homozygous.

Oddity 4 3: Anne Norman’s Dark Blue Eyes

To explain Anne’s dark blue eyes, we would either need to assume that she wore color contacts (and that her real eye color was either grey or green), or that there were some unknown factors involved.

To explain Judith’s blonde hair, one or both of her parents would have needed a blonde allele in their genetic codes.

Oddity 6 5: Contradictory Hair Colors

Contessa, Consort, and Patrizio’s hair colors differ between the storytelling pictures and SimPE. Contessa and Consort are both blond(e) in the storytelling images, yet SimPE lists their hair color as black. When looking at their genetic histories, you can see that the only option of the two that works is blond(e). Patrizio has black hair in the storytelling images, yet SimPE lists him as a brunet. He could realistically have either one, but making Valentine a brunet is required for brown hair to work.

SimPE lists Isabella as a blonde. Despite that, many simmers interpret her as a brunette. For Isabella to have brown hair, making Vincentio a brunet is required, whereas she could be blonde without any problems. Because of the contradictions in her genetic profile, we are unable to rely on Francisca to help us here.

Planned Additional Essays

Just like last time, I have some additional essays planned for specific members of this group. While I already mentioned them before, two of those essays belong to Anne Norman and Hamlet Dane Jr., two sims with nonsensical genetics. That said, I may wait until I’m done with the next generation to post them since there are parts of both essays that may inadvertently spoil their descendants’ genetic profiles.

In addition to those two sims, I also have an essay planned to look at Patrizio and Isabella’s hair colors. That said, this essay will have to wait until all their descendants are covered, as it relates to them as well.

Even though I covered a whopping twelve sims in this section, two sims are missing from that group. These sims, Prospero and Sycorax Gale, do not have any ancestors. As such, I decided to save their visual profiles for the summary since they will show up in some entries down the road.

It was probably a good idea for me to put Prospero and Sycorax’s genetic profiles in this summary because their son is the first sim up in the next group.

As of this summary going up, I have completed the first three entries. I would have done more, but I haven’t been feeling that great mentally for the past week or so, so I’m a little behind. That said, I’ll try to get them all done soon.

GVGP Profile: Tobea Dane

Next up for this group is Cornwall Capp’s mother, Tobea Dane.

Tobea Dane’s Genetic Profile

According to the Capp family tree, Tobea was the daughter of Macduff and Lady Scott. As you can see in her genetic profile, Tobea’s parents are her only known ancestors. As such, this entry will likely be somewhat short compared to her son’s.

Tobea Dane’s Visual Profile

As Cornwall’s mother, Tobea will be present in her son’s genetic profile and will be given a mention whenever necessary.

Skintone

As the daughter of an S1 father and an S2 mother, Tobea’s S1 skintone makes perfect sense.

Hair Color

As the daughter of a blond father and a black-haired mother, both of whom were progenitors, Tobea’s brown hair does not make sense without taking hypothetical genetics into account. 

Basically, Tobea’s hair color could make sense if we assume Lady Scott carried an allele for brown hair in her genetic code. This allele would have to come from Lady since Macduff could only pass down an allele for a recessive hair color to his daughter, making Tobea’s hair color heterozygous.

Eye Color

As the daughter of a dark blue-eyed father and a brown-eyed mother, Tobea’s dark blue eyes make perfect sense. Since her parents had different eye colors, Tobea would have been heterozygous (but probably not the way it looks here).

Tobea Dane’s filled out genetic profile. As you can see, her skintone and eye color both make sense, whereas her hair color only makes sense with hypothetical genetics.

Dane Family Origins: Generations 2 and 3 Ancestry Results

Hamlet Dane Jr was born to a prestigious family, and was bound to live almost exactly like his father did. Like his father, he grew up to be a Popularity sim, and even took his father's same job once he got old enough. But unlike his parents, who essentially had an open marriage, he got with his family-orientated wife Tobea, where they taught their son Cornwall to care about lineage, traditions, and family.

Tobea Dane was born in a relatively quiet, but respectable family without much controversy. She really embraced being a traditional woman, and everything that came with it, so she was fine being a housewife raising Cornwall to be the best man and person he could be. She did attend all of the parties, hosted her charity events throughout the decades, and was good friends with the Capps and their affiliates.

Cornwall Capp grew up with the predestination to side with the Capps, due to his parents being very good friends with Consort and Contessa, and living on the Capp side of Veronaville. It was actually expected for him to eventually marry Goneril, due to them being closer in age, but fate pulled him to the youngest daughter Regan. Cornwall is more ambitious, money hungry and driven than his parents and grandparents, so he had no problem giving up his patrilineality to take the Capp name, and blend in with the bigger, more powerful family.

Prospero and Sycorax migrated to Veronaville within the last 15 years, and were the neutral party between the two sides in Veronaville. They just wanted to be well liked and to focus on their family, but when Caliban was put in the school system, they were pressured into choosing a side.... the Capps.

Holofernes put all of his work and effort into his career, and Judith was thrilled with being in any sort of position of power, but their priorities changed when Olivia was born (everyone is still confused on how she became darker than them). It also didn't help that they sided with the Montys too much, and receives strife when people were intimidated by the Montys.

The Dane family was one of the quieter ones, but don't take that as them being less powerful than the others. Tobea put in everything to make sure that her family was thriving, and that meant supporting Hamlet in whatever career path and clique he chose to partake in, and making sure their young Cornwall lived up to his potential.

Arlecchino family, 1976

The Arlecchino family was huge on stability and family. Maria was huge in setting her family up financially, and Trinculo being all about the Italian family vibes. Both of that put Hero in the position to want to live up to her given name. With them siding with the Montys, it caused them to see the Capps as enemies.

Norman family, 1976

The Norman family was a tight knit one, but it gave little Albany the family values that he wanted to pass down to his own family some day. Both Richard and Anne were involved in the Politics career, and were very popular in the Veronaville upper society.... or at least the Capp side of it.

It had been a few decades since the initial fallout, but with their generation being in control of Veronaville, most families had to pick a side. The Normans, Danes, and Gales ended up siding with the Capps, building friendships, business partnerships, and put all of their eggs in the Capp basket.

Through the years, Consort and Contessa would see their friends all die young, though each of their friends gave permission for their children (Albany, Caliban, and Cornwall) to marry in the family (while giving up their patriarchal lineage to become a Capp), before their untimely perishes.
