         ever since he was young, his parents had always found ways to spend a lot more money than they could possibly have  —  and, as such, were always trying to find ways to make money fast, usually not through legal means. since they were often busy with their hustles, they didn’t really pay much mind to joonwoong or his sister, bitna. at the time, they were familiar with insu, but didn’t think that he was more than just a school friend of their son, as they didn’t bother to pay attention to him either. it was a few years later when they accidently found out the true nature of their relationship and, being in deep in debt at that moment, they turned to joonwoong to ask him for money. at first they made it seem like they were just borrowing it, but, as the conversation went on, it became quite clear that they were threatening him with said information. without hesitation, even though he didn’t make much money at that time, he paid. for a few years, while syn:energy was still active, they would pop up from time to time, whenever things were rougher than usual, to ask for money yet again. every time, he paid.

          it was only as he went onto his solo career and began making a bigger cut out of his music that joonwoong decided to change things. the next time they came, he gave them a much larger sum of money  —  but only if they agreed to sign an legal document claiming that they would never speak of him to anyone, especially the media. blinded by how much cash was being flaunted in their face, they agreed.   ( what joonwoong doesn’t know is that they also stole the savings his sister had set aside for her college funds, because she decided against telling him and, instead, is trying to find her own way to make up for it. )
