BnHA Chapter 278: MOMO IN CHARGE

Previously on BnHA: Deku and Kacchan were all “SIR, THAT’S OUR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT SENSEI” and got really ferocious and made a very passionate attempt to blow Tomura up and it was great. It basically did nothing, but it was still great. AFO was all “COME HERE LIL BRO”, and Tomura was all “silly Sensei, you can’t just take over my mind and body just like that”, and he was very confident of this despite there really being no evidence to back it up, but okay! Gran was all “time to make the fandom mad at me” and grabbed Tomura by the collar and yelled at him about Nana a bit, and then Bakugou and Endeavor made an even MORE passionate attempt to blow up Tomura, which may or may not have done some actual damage. The chapter ended with Gigantomachia battling Mt. Lady, just kinda out of the blue, which is FINE, but she had better be all right, though!

Today on BnHA: Everyone is all “WAUGHH IT’S GIGANTOMACHIA” and running around freaking out about it. The U.A. alums all kick some ass, and pretty much everyone else not from U.A. does jack fucking shit. Mt. Lady, who I plan on naming all of my future children after, does her best to stop Machia but he keeps flinging her aside. Kamui Woods is all “here I come with Midnight to put Gigantomachia to sleep!” and is PROMPTLY FUCKING MURDERED!? by Dabi because he’s a flammable tree man, and so Midnight falls all the way to the ground and is badly injured. So then she’s all “well I better call the most competent person I can think of to fix this mess” and dials up YAOYOROZU FUCKING MOMO, who proceeds to take charge LIKE THE BOSS SHE IS, and mobilizes the rest of the kids. And honestly I have more faith in them than in any of the adults at this point, so yeah, you know what? Let’s do this.

so I am possibly a bit spoiled on this chapter because I did a “top five predictions” post earlier this week, and someone replied to that yesterday on Thursday saying that they were mostly correct. I don’t know exactly how close to the mark I was though, and in any case most of the predictions were just “so-and-so shows up, probably”, so it’s not too bad. we’ll see how it goes!

In part 1 at looked at some of the questions I was asking myself now that this phase of the television show is winding down.

The next question is:

Was it weird seeing yourself on T.V.?

Yes, very!

I'm my own biggest critic and to see me on television made everyone of my many flaws highly noticeable.

At least to me.

Add to fact that thousands of people will see those same things and it's scary to think about.

It's also weird seeing yourself from a different perspective. I saw everything I did in the show from the view behind my eyes.

Not from above. Or from the side or from 20' away.

So yeah, it's wierd!!

"Would I do it again?"

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.

It was so much fun. It was also a lot of work. It was also putting yourself out there.

"Was it worth it to do it?"

Yes, it was all so worth it.

At least to me.

(Confession time: I had this crazy, about to go to sleep, fantasy that my episode was so well received that Kinga and I got to do another two shows called "Finding Adventure on the Road" where we went to Egypt and New Zealand. Places on both of our travel bucket lists. LOL)

I knew a little bit about the process of it having done television before.

Yep, about 20 years ago (or so) and a different lifetime, I was on local Sat Lake City, Utah televison doing presentations of new office supplies during back to school season for Staples the Office Supply store.

It was on a local "good morning" show and I brought an assortment of the latest greatest office supplies kids just HAD to have this school year.

It was fun and I felt natural infront of the camera.

I was the feature of the show. So it felt more real, there was certainly more pressure and more nerves.

But still once those subsided I got comfortable in front of the cameras again.

Bonus question I got asked today when someone who saw it wanted to talk to me about it.

"It looked like it was so much fun, what was your favorite part?"

As much fun as we were having (actually having fun not acting) my favorite parts and most cherished memories about those days came away from the shooting.

Hanging out with Kinga, just talking and visiting and becoming friends was the best.

I have said many times I wish she wasn't a public figure and we had just hung out at a training conference for work that lasted a few days. So the possibility of being accused of being a "hang-er, on-er wasn't there. But I really don't think of her as a "celebrity".

Just my friend.

And I'm grateful for that more then anything.

The fact my episode was able to touch the lives of a few people around the country who may be struggling with transition or Cancer recovery makes it all the better and long before I even met Kinga that is what motivated me to do this.

What a wonderful combination I was fortunate enough to participate in.

"Whats next?"

Doing the show has made me want to find other outlets to reach people and hopefully inspire them with my story.

So I'm looking to do that.

At work, I want to facilitate as much as I can and get better at it so I can show more people (by doing) that you too can do it! Especially those going through transition.

Outside of work I've signed up for a talent agency and am looking for more opportunities to be in front of a camera or make speeches or do presentations.

Maybe even local theater...

Who knows for sure?

I can't predict the future (or else I would know the lotto numbers) so I'm just going to do the following:

See things I haven't seen, try things I haven't tried and go places I haven't been.

Seems I heard that same thing on a television show recently.....

Winter is finally in the rear view, but hard hip-hop is coming in waves like hoodie season is a year-round event in 2018! Yeah I’m liking that trend. We have seen a mixture of old and new faces this month, which means rap music continues to thrive in its’ state of sound diversity. So here are some of my favorite rap songs that I have kept on replay for the last few weeks...

1. “Outside” - Royce Da 5′9″ feat. Marsha Ambrosius & Robert Glasper

(With PRhyme 2 still in heavy rotation, Royce Da 5′9″ dropped Book Of Ryan, his most personal, and well-constructed solo work yet. There are so many gems to mine through on this album, but perhaps the most impressive one to me is this beautiful song that’s dedicated to Royce’s son. Much as Kendrick Lamar’s “FEAR” excelled due to to it’s unflinching exploration of how anxiety feels, “Outside” excels because Royce lays his entire relationship with his son on the table, warts and all. Pulling from a troubled childhood and complex relationship with his own father, “Outside” perfectly captures the battle to raise a child without passing down the parent’s baggage. Book Of Ryan is a powerful listening experience.)

2. “This Is America” - Childish Gambino

(Donald Glover is simply one of the most talented human beings alive today. He is a comedian, actor, and musician, so his next move is tough to predict due to the many different directions he may choose to go. Regardless of whether you think “This Is America” is a brilliant socially conscious song or just a clever attempt to “sell” a political record in order to strengthen his brand, there is no denying that the track is a fantastic piece of production, and Gambino masterfully glides all over it. Plus, the video is easily the most captivating of 2018.)

3. “Yes Indeed” - Lil Baby feat. Drake

(What can I say, I’m a sucker for a Drake song when he goes into rap feature grind mode. While I never had a reason to check for Lil Baby amidst the sea of never-ending “Lil’s” in hip-hop today, he manages to capture my attention with this verse...which includes my favorite silly rap line of the moment: “wah wah wah: bitch I’m he Baby”. The wheel isn’t being reinvented by either artist on “Yes Indeed”, but they sound like they’re having so much fun over this Wheezy production that I can see myself keeping this song in the rotation for months to come - much like “Look Alive”. Like it or not, Drake is coming next month.)

4. “Dust & Powder” - Jim Jones feat. Jadakiss

(At the start of 2018 I would not have expected Jim Jones to drop a new album chockfull of strong cuts, but low and behold, here we are. The retro-Dipset vibe of this track still feels fresh, plus Jones and Jada rhyme with enough energy that it low-key feels reminiscent of a classic Just Blaze hit. More of this from modern NYC MC’s, please!)

5. “Lotto” - Westside Gunn feat. Benny

(Yes, more heat from this fantastic Royce album. What a year he’s been having, eh? A lot of folks skipped ahead to this track when they saw that Bad Meets Evil would be reuniting on Book Of Ryan. While Em doesn’t quite reach his past elite status with this “Caterpillar” verse, the track is bangin’ nonetheless. And it’s one of the finest pieces of production on the album, s/o to S1.)

9. “Friends” - J. Cole

(I have been hard on Cole in the past, but only because I always thought the guy had as high of a ceiling as Drake - if not higher. I do believe he dropped the best project of his career with KOD. Musically, he finally found the right soundscapes for him to work with on this album. He often punches his rhymes as if he’s breaking the bank lyrically when that is often not the case...but he is still a very talented artist, and when placed alongside deceptively tight instrumentals - which is the case through much of KOD - he can really shine. He is successful at walking the line between motivational and preachy, but the real reason why J. Cole comes out of KOD triumphant is his willingness to vary his delivery more on this album.)

10. “448” - $ha Hef
