It has just come to our attention that, in error, Richard Burton as Thomas Becket (Becket, 1964), was not counted in the tally of contenders. This has been corrected.
However. This now leaves us with an odd number of contenders, and so, as we have a proliferation of Robin Hoods, we have decided to even out our count of Robins and Arthurs (and our list of contenders) by eliminating one Robin.
We leave it to you, fine people of Tumblr, to choose which Robin to hand over to his respective Sheriff of Nottingham.
To be clear: The Robin who receives the most votes will be eliminated. Vote for the Robin you would like to see eliminated.

'Queer cinema has been an important presence at the Provincetown International Film Festival since it began in 1999. Several past Filmmaker on the Edge award winners, such as Christine Vachon and Todd Haynes, and a trio of provocateurs — John Cameron Mitchell, Luca Guadagnino, and Bruce LaBruce — have created indelible LGBTQ characters and stories. But no past honoree has devoted himself so profoundly to exploring the issues of love, sex, and intimacy among gay men as Andrew Haigh, this year’s Filmmaker on the Edge, who will sit down for a conversation with the festival’s own John Waters at Provincetown Town Hall on Saturday.
Haigh is best known these days for the much praised drama All of Us Strangers, which was released last winter. He adapted the screenplay from a novel by Taichi Yamada. But it feels extraordinarily personal, as its main character, played by Andrew Scott, is a television writer trying to imagine coming out to his parents, who were killed in an accident when he was a young boy. It’s a mysterious and beautifully dreamlike story involving conversations with ghosts (his parents, played by Claire Foy and Jamie Bell) in his childhood home and, in the present, in his mostly deserted apartment building with a neighbor (Paul Mescal) who is interested in him romantically.
Like most of Haigh’s films, All of Us Strangers is about the loneliness of adults living in or out of relationships. “It’s definitely a theme I keep coming back to,” Haigh says. “I think loneliness affects a lot of people. It certainly affects a lot of queer people. We’ve experienced what that feels like growing up in a world where you don’t entirely fit in. That’s a perfect way to create the feeling of loneliness.
“But actually, my films are about how characters try to work through loneliness. They’ve had enough of loneliness. They’re trying to survive it; they’re trying to figure out what it’s about and move forward. My films aren’t about people being depressed. They’re about people taking the next step forward to make things feel better in their lives. Which, I suppose, is the quest of all of us: how to get through the day and make it a little better than the day before.”
All of Us Strangers harks back strongly to Haigh’s 2011 film Weekend, which is about a gay man in his late 20s (Tom Cullen) who works as a lifeguard at a Nottingham public pool, meets up with an artist (Chris New), and spends the next couple of days getting to know him. Weekend was Haigh’s second feature, but it became an international art-house sensation and transformed him into a filmmaker to watch. It’s shot in an almost documentary style, and it’s an intensely close and detailed look at a gay bar hookup with the potential of turning into a romance. It’s a revelatory film that’s still as powerful and accessible as it was when it was released.
Talking about Weekend, Haigh, now 51 with a partner and two daughters, becomes aware of the context in which it was made. “I’m really glad that people still respond to that film,” he says. “It’s been more than 12 years, and so much has changed fundamentally — in terms of queer representation, and what it’s like for us living our everyday lives as queer people. I recently watched a bit of Weekend, and I realized that it’s such a time capsule of how I felt back then. I imagine that a younger audience might feel it’s dated. But at the time it was very pertinent to me. And I think that’s what I’ve always tried to do, especially with queer subject matter — to do what feels right to me, interesting to me, rather than thinking I need to have a message for the queer community.”
Haigh doesn’t only deal with queer subjects, of course. His 2015 film 45 Years, which he adapted from a short story by David Constantine, looks at a married man and woman whose bond of trust is suddenly broken as they’re about to celebrate their 45th anniversary. The film stars Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay and deals with the repercussions that occur when the body of the husband’s old girlfriend is found frozen in the Swiss Alps, reviving memories and feelings and making the wife question how much love actually exists between them. Rampling was nominated for an Oscar for her performance.
Like All of Us Strangers, 45 Years deals with the corrosive influence of the past. “What I’m trying to say in both of those films,” Haigh says, “is not that the past can necessarily destroy us. It’s just there, under the surface. And our ability to be stable in our lives can be thrown off balance so easily. I feel that we live in a world where we try to ignore the past: ‘This is me, I’m in the present, and I’m going to strive forward.’ But that’s not how our lives work. They’re informed by what has happened to us.”
Haigh has created two series for television: Looking, which had a two-year run (2014-2016) on HBO, followed the amorous adventures of three gay men living in San Francisco (played by Frankie J. Alvarez, Jonathan Goff, and Murray Bartlett) and The North Water, a 2021 arctic whaling drama for the BBC and AMC here in the States. He says that working for the small screen took some adjustment for him. So does the current trend toward replacing theatergoing with streaming.
“Cinema is a place to go see nuance, to have real engagement with the audience,” he says. “When I make a film, the idea that it wouldn’t be shown in the cinema is devastating to me. I can’t imagine it just turning up on a streaming site, then vanishing somewhere within that site. I saw somebody the other night watching a movie on his phone! At least watch it on a big TV! I’m at my happiest when I’m watching movies in a cinema.”
Haigh is tremendously excited about coming to Provincetown. “I’ve never been, and I’ve always, always wanted to go. Even in Weekend, [Chris New] has got a T-shirt that says ‘Provincetown’ on it. My partner and I are coming, and I can’t wait.” And then there’s his upcoming interview with John Waters at town hall. “I’m both excited and a little bit terrified,” Haigh says. “John Waters will always be a magical figure in the life of cinema.”
Say Haigh
The event: A conversation with John Waters and Filmmaker on the Edge Andrew Haigh at the Provincetown Film Festival The time: Saturday, June 15, 5 p.m. The place: Provincetown Town Hall, 260 Commercial St. The cost: $30, free with some passes, at provincetownfilm.org'

Question for you! Since you have so many WIPs loaded in the chamber, I wanna know about some of them.
Can you give me top 3 favourites (or those you’re willing to spill the beans on) and why you like them? Bonus question if you’re stalled, why??
I am a curious cat this morning. Meow!
Tumblr media
*Clears throat*
Top 3 Favorites, as if a creator can talk about favorites as if they were able to choose between their children...but alas it is such a task that I am willing to undertake for you.
Tumblr media
So, top 3...top 3...hmm decisions decisions.
Well let us go in reverse order because that way I can make sure we are choosing the correct one.
Please note these are WIP titles. So the posted name will most likely change whenever I get around to it.
3. Hedge Witch Suggestions:
So this is a fic is very oof. And by that I mean is dubcon/noncon rated just because I was infuriated at the lack of this type of fic for the movie which is annoying.
Its a Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves AU fic that i wrote out in 10 days because it would not leave me alone. WC: 48k
It starts with the 10:45 friend aiding the Sheriff of Nottingham in getting what he wants, that is Lady Marian. And we know she would not do so willingly post meeting up with Robin in the Forest (she did like the sheriff. Note the dagger scene she is stumbling and fumbling in the exact way she is stumbling and fumbling to the Sheriff about Robin later. Also the Sheriff is hotter then Robin anyway so no truly lost in that department.)
Anyway, for three nights she is given a potion that makes her susceptible to suggestions and therefore the Sheriff's advances...ahe thinks she is dreaming and eventually he does win by the magic that I wish the movie had played on more, but I digress.
Its *hopefully* over graphic, and it's not something I usually admit to writing on Tumblr or even amongst many others but since it is in edits its actually a work im very proud of and had a bunch of fun writing.
Tumblr media
2. Socialite Papers:
Bridgeton is a fabulous show, and the most appealing aspect of it is Lady Wistledown. So inspired by that and my love of Jane Austen is to do a sort of similar concept of Sense and Sensibility.
I haven't worked out the particulars but it would start with the news of Mr Dashwood's death and follow the Dashwoods into Devonshire and the effects being felt by both sides of the country.
It will include things such as:
The move of the sisters
Willoughby
Edward's Engagement
London
Cleveland.
Because there is such thing as gossip being based upon observation.
I will not spoil the ending tho, because I have not yet decided on how it will end (per usual)
Now moving on to the top one that I really wanna get to, but its going to take forever because either has to do with Filmography and I have come to find that I really dislike watching movies alone anymore.
Tumblr media
1. ACU:
If you know nothing about know this, I love Alan Rickman and while I will agree that the first time I saw him was as Severus Snape, my favorite is actually Colonel Brandon and the Sheriff of Nottingham. And I have been blessed because of the Rickmanaic Server on Discord and the lovely people I have met there.
Anyway this starts with the original crap ending, where the Sheriff dies. He was married to Marian even though they did not consumate the union (yes, yes I know i know).
Anyway, he was a pagan, and worshiped other beings and while in Christianity he would have gone to hell (though the concept of such a place didn't exist in that period but I digress) what if he didn't? What if his gods decided that he was worth saving?
Therefore, he was..and in each life (each character he's played) he lived there is something he must have had to learn and with the free will of him he had to go back and do it again, again, and again until he learns all the lessons.
It does somewhat follow the period of which his movies are set, and while some are ambiguous (aiw1&2,hitchhikers,Sweeny todd) it is very much an appreciation of his work while also being a fanatic about his growth as a person.
And the faces of the women he has loved over the time is an important factor, because it starts with a woman and must end with a woman, and while its not solely the romance that is important, I'm a romantic at heart and want to give him happiness and pain and love. Because everybody, no matter how evil or broken you are, deserves someone to love them.
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for the asks! I love talking about my wips!
Tumblr media
Much love,
Ren

Chelsea sign Palmer from Man City
Tumblr media
Chelsea signed England Under-21 forward Cole Palmer from Manchester City on Friday in a deal worth an initial £40 million ($50 million). Palmer agreed a seven-year contract with Chelsea, who have a club option of a further 12 month extension and could pay City an extra £2.5 million in add-on clauses. City were keen to keep Palmer, but the size of Chelsea’s offer eventually persuaded them to cash in on a rising star who was keen for more regular first-team opportunities. The 21-year-old could make his Chelsea debut in Saturday’s Premier League match against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge. “I’m excited to get started and it feels great to sign,” Palmer said. “I’ve joined Chelsea because the project here sounds good and because of the platform I will have to try to showcase my talents. It is a young and hungry squad and, hopefully, we can do something special here.” Palmer’s move to the Bridge takes Chelsea’s spending in the 16 months since Todd Boehly’s Clearlake Capital consortium bought the club to over £1billion. He is the 12th player to be signed by Chelsea since the end of last season, with his arrival coming after Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino stated he was keen to sign another forward. “He has showcased his talent and potential in the most challenging environments and delivered on the international stage for England at the European Under-21 Championships. “He is undoubtedly ready for this next step and we are delighted it will be with Chelsea.” Palmer graduated from City’s academy and helped them win the FA Youth Cup in 2020, scoring in the final against Chelsea. Establishing himself as a regular in the City squad last season, Palmer made 25 appearances in all competitions as Pep Guardiola’s side won the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup. Palmer also enjoyed success alongside his new Chelsea team-mates Levi Colwill and Noni Madueke as England won the Under-21 European Championship earlier this year. He had underlined his vast potential with goals in City’s UEFA Super Cup victory against Sevilla and their Community Shield loss to Arsenal this season. Read the full article

info main bola Mauricio Pochettino Minta Chelsea Datangkan Dua Pemain Baru Lagi
Tumblr media
info main bola – Chelsea masih belum akan berhenti belanja pemain baru di musim panas 2023. Manajer Mauricio Pochettino menyebutkan masih perlu dua pemain baru lagi.
“Kami masih perlu satu kiper lagi.

A Clash of Alans: Round 2 closes & Round 3 opens
Guys, I can only apologise for the terrible choices we had to make in Round 2. If it's any comfort, the pairings were completely randomised and I had no say, otherwise I would never have pitted Snape against Turpin. That choice HURT.
We lost some strong Alans this round. Round 3 won't be much easier. Voting is open HERE until 10pm UK time, 14th July.
Round 2 results below the cut!
Battle Nine: Franz Anton Mesmer (41.5%) v Alex Hughes (58.5%)
Battle Ten: David (69%) (giggidy) v Harry (31%)
Battle Eleven: Hilly Kristal (7.3%) v Metatron (92.7%)
Battle Twelve: Jamie (95.1%) v Tybalt (4.9%)
Battle Thirteen: Elliott Marston (53.7%) v P.L. O'Hara (46.3%)
Battle Fourteen: John Gissing (50%) v Phil Allen (50%) since this is a draw, I decided to rescind my own vote which puts Phil in the lead
Battle Fifteen: Severus Snape (90.5%) v Judge Turpin (9.5%)
Battle Sixteen: Alexander Dane (47.6%) v Eli Michaelson (52.4%)
Battle Seventeen: Colonel Brandon (61.9%) v Hans Gruber (38.1%)
Battle Eighteen: Sheriff of Nottingham (76.2%) v Ed the Painter (23.8%)
Battle Nineteen: David Friedman (75.6%) v Eamon de Valera (24.4%)
Battle Twenty: Marvin (43.9%) v Absolem (56.1%)
Battle Twenty-One: Dwight Billings (31.7%) v Karl Hoffmeister (68.3%)
Battle Twenty-Two: Interrogator (21.4%) v Sinclair Bryant (78.6%)
Battle Twenty-Three: Todd (32.5%) v Obadiah Slope (67.5%)
Battle Twenty-Four: Steven Spurrier (9.8%) v Lionel Shabandar (90.2%)

West Ham United vs Leeds United: Exciting Premier League Clash Unfolds
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Img Source: https://static.independent.co.uk/2022/01/21/17/GettyImages-1357098713.jpg In a highly anticipated Premier League encounter, West Ham United takes on Leeds United today, promising an intense battle on the field. As we gear up for this thrilling match, let's take a look at the teams' recent performances and expectations for the game. Reigning champions Manchester City clinched the title in the previous season, narrowly edging out Liverpool in a neck-and-neck race. Pep Guardiola's side secured their fourth title in five years with a comeback win against Aston Villa on the final day of the 2021/22 season. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, who had their sights set on a quadruple, had to settle for the FA Cup and Carabao Cup trophies. The Reds will be aiming to reclaim the title they won in 2020. Chelsea had an eventful season last year, with Roman Abramovich stepping down as owner and Todd Boehly taking the reins at Stamford Bridge. With a significant investment at hand, Boehly will be eager to see an immediate return on his investment. Tottenham, back in the Champions League, will also be looking to build on their previous successes. While the top-tier action garners significant attention, it's important to note the promoted teams for the 2021/22 season: Fulham, Bournemouth, and Nottingham Forest. These clubs will be determined to prove themselves against the best in English football and avoid relegation. Now, let's turn our focus to the exciting West Ham United vs Leeds United fixture. Stay tuned as we provide live coverage, updates, and insights from the game, offering a detailed account of the action as it unfolds. Substitution Alert: In the latest team news, Adam John Forshaw has been replaced by Brenden Russell Aaronson for West Ham United, while Jack David Harrison has been substituted by Crysencio Jilbert Sylverio Cirro Summerville for Leeds United. West Ham United has been relentless in their pursuit of goals, earning their sixth corner of the match. Bowen delivers a pinpoint cross to Soucek, who executes a powerful downward header. The ball seems destined for the top corner, but Robles, in an extraordinary display of agility, stretches to push it over the bar, denying West Ham the lead. Bowen exhibits his speed and skill as he sprints down the byline, firing a low shot from an acute angle. Robles manages to parry the shot, but Ayling comes to his goalkeeper's aid by heading the ball back into his gloves, preventing a corner for West Ham. Emerson's early cross takes an unexpected deflection, falling into the path of Ings. The striker quickly turns and drills a low shot towards the goal, but Wober, showing excellent defensive awareness, blocks the effort, averting the danger for Leeds. Harrison demonstrates exceptional control as he brings down Wober's cross-field pass. With precision, he whips a cross to the far post, aiming for Gnonto or McKennie. Unfortunately for Leeds, both players go for the ball simultaneously, resulting in McKennie inadvertently heading it behind the goal, squandering another opportunity for Leeds United. As the game progresses, both teams display determination and skill, leaving fans on the edge of their seats. Stay tuned for more live updates and analysis from this enthralling Premier League clash. Conclusion: The clash between West Ham United and Leeds United has lived up to its expectations so far, with both teams showcasing their prowess on the field. The match has been marked by exciting attacking plays, remarkable saves, and solid defensive efforts. As the game unfolds, fans eagerly anticipate which side will emerge victorious. Stay with us for more updates and analysis as the drama unfolds in this highly anticipated Read the full article
