Something tells that episode might not be the last we see of Belos/Philip…

What could this mean?

Looking at the pit of Golden Guard skeletons, something dawned on me. They had to have died there. Belos doesn’t need a mass grave for his own sense of guilt, it’s there because he couldn’t bothered to clean up. Which means they died there. They all died confronting Belos, and he threw every last one to their deaths.

Were they trying to talk to him? To sway him from his evil? Did they still hold out hope that they could save the man who raised them? Or did they go to put an end to his reign? Did they know he was beyond redemption? Did they think they could stop him? Or did they simply want to die trying, that their death would say “I couldn’t stand by”?

These were children. They couldn’t have been older than 18. And they chose to try. They all chose to try. And they all failed. But they always tried

okay but i love how the collector’s whole vibe is that he is very clearly a child. they always want to play, acts childishly, and his main thing is that pinky swears are so very, very binding. he’s a kid but he has unlimited, unstoppable power, and that’s what’s so interesting about him

I can’t imagine what Luz’s mom went through knowing that she was gone; especially when knowing that a girl like Anne disappeared to another world too.

Here’s a bit of a writing exercise I just whipped up:

Scars And Cracks

(Spoilers for King’s Tide)

Vee is only stirring the soup in front of her for a few minutes before a knock is heard at the door.

Camila (Mom) goes over to open it, and when she does, she lifts a hand to her face in shock.

Just outside in the rain stands Luz, with four other figures huddling close to the human.

Figures with pointed ears.

A reflexive nervousness grips Vee for a split second upon seeing the witches, but it doesn’t take much of a closer look at the group for concern to take place in her mind.

They’re all bedraggled and disheveled, and Vee doesn’t need much to be able to tell that they just went through something horrifying. The kind of hollowness lurking behind all their eyes is a kind she knows like the back of her hand.

They all have scars, but not all are on the surface.

King wakes up early enough to catch the Collector absentmindedly tracing a finger across the cracks in his skull and horn. As they do this, a subtle, strange sensation tickles the young Titan’s forehead.

When King is sure the cosmic child isn’t watching, he lifts a paw and carefully draws it over those spots as well.

He finds the cracks have been completely smoothed over, like they were never there to begin with.

Unfortunately, King can’t do the same for the dread lurking in the back of his mind.

Not all cracks are on the surface.

Okay so in light of Kings Tide, some quick back of the napkin math.

Belos has been on the Isles since 1660. Assuming he starts making Grimwalkers 40 years after he gets there (long enough for Caleb to fall in love but really just to make the math smoother), then he’s been cranking out Grimwalkers for 320 years give or take.

Hunter is 16, and the youngest Golden Guard. Does Belos make them as babies and they grow up, either while the current GG is around or with some rando coven scout as GG? Or does he rapidly age them up to whatever he needs and backfills the memories?

I don’t know. If we assume best case scenario, and he has to grow a new one from scratch every time, becomes GG at 16-18 and are killed around 20 (2-4 years as the Guard, for comparison it took Hunter about a week to start doubting with the Hexside crew’s help and a few months to actually openly turn, even then only after having been pushed into it by Belos.)

(While I could count the masks in the Abyss from Hollow Knight I mean the pit where Belos throws the Grimwalkers, but that’s too much effort for this. If someone does do that lemme know.)

That’s 20 years between each murder, for 320 years.

20 YpM=320Y * M

320/20M=16M

So 15 (because Hunter is still alive)

Belos created, raised, abused, and then murdered 15 children, minimum.

Edit: So yeah turns out there were WAY more masks in that scene than I saw. Final count is still out but ball park of 50, which running the math means each kid had a life expectancy of 6 years. Meaning Belos definitely has to have a lab full of 14 year old Grimwalkers in Gravity Falls boy band style test tubes ready to go the moment one kicks the bucket. On the bright side, when this is all over Hunter might get a few younger brothers to go with all of his trauma.

Edit 2: Final count is 52, plus however many skulls are there, implying not every grimwalker was a Golden Guard

Oh boy, so much pain and trauma for one episode. I know a lot of things in King’s Tide made me want to cry, but do you know what’s really sad? The fact that there only three episodes left of The Owl House.

Three episodes is not enough to unpack the aftermath of the day of unity with new storylines!

Seriously Disney, why are you so intent on getting rid of this show? It’s trending in two spots right now and is in the number one spot! And this is with Kenobi and a new season of Stranger Things out the day before! Doesn’t this show people love this show despite it not fitting the ‘Disney Brand’ (Seriously what does that mean anyway?)?

So why not give it another shot and give it the season it deserves?
