Chatting about the Olympics in Hetalia, I don’t think any of the nation-people would actually take part themselves. This is a competition for humans after all. But I think they’d be heavily involved. They would all come to the hosting country with their teams, march with them in the opening ceremonies, stay with them in the Olympic village, etc. Maybe it would be tradition for them to be the flag bearers in the parade?
The host national personification would have a big part in the opening ceremonies. I’ve already said Francis would be sexy Mr Parkour Mask. Arthur would have jumped out of the helicopter with the queen. Yao would have lead the drummers. Alfred would have flown the jetpack, etc. Then they’d be the last-but-one torch bearer who handed the flame to whoever was there to light the beacon. The final honour isn’t for them but rather they pass it to one of their “children” then watch like a proud parent as the stadium lights up.
If the hosting nation-person had a skill regarding a sport, they might give a special demonstration of it before the event begins. Especially if the sport was invented in their country or it’s something they’re known for. Like I bet in Tokyo 2021 Kiku would have given a Merida-style bullseye fest to open the archery contest. Very cool.
Then, of course, the awarding of medals. The host nation-person and the winning nation-person would probably give the medals together. Host holds the cushion, winner puts it around their citizen’s neck. Then they lead the applause.
Finally, they’d be standing by their bosses when the games ended and the flame was passed on to the next nation. I bet the Olympics are a highlight all the nation-people look forward to every four years it rolls around 😚

Earlene Dennis Brown
Tumblr media
Earlene Dennis Brown, a three-time Olympian, was the first African American woman to win a medal in the shot put. Throughout her life Brown excelled in a variety of sports, gaining attention, recognition, and honors. She is the only shot-putter to compete in three consecutive Olympics (1956, 1960, 1964). Brown won Olympic bronze for Women’s shot put in 1960; was Amateur Athletic Union Champion in shot put (1956-62, 1964); won Amateur Athletic Union Championship, discus (1958-59, 1961); won gold medal in shot put, silver medal in discus, USA-USSR dual meet (1958); was shot put and discus champion, Pan-American Games (1959); and placed 12th in shot put, Tokyo Olympics (1964).
Earlene Dennis, born July 11, 1935, in Latexo, Texas to Espenola Tillis Dennis, a domestic servant, and Willie Dennis, a semipro baseball player with the Negro League in Texas. When her parents separated in 1938, Dennis remained with her mother and they moved to Los Angeles in 1945. Dennis’s mother married Julius Walker in 1946. Dennis attended Jordan High School in South Central Los Angeles, where she excelled in track and field. Her athletic ability was noticed by many, including Adeline Valdez, Dennis’s high school gym teacher, Josephine Spearman, and Coach Clarence Mackey, who tried to get her to compete in the Helsinki Olympics (in 1952 in Helsinki, Finland). Valdez is credited with putting the first discus in Dennis’ hands while her history teacher taught her to shot put. Before competing in shot put and discus, Dennis anchored the relay team.
Tumblr media
In 1956, Brown finished in the top ten in the shot put and the discus. In 1958 Brown received the #1 world ranking and became the first American to break the 50-foot barrier. Brown won gold medals in the shot put as well as discus events at the Pan American Games in 1959. At the Tokyo Olympics in 1964 Brown placed 12th in the shot put.
Brown retired from the shot put competition in 1965. The same year she took up another sport, roller derby. Brown’s career in skating began as a blocker for the New York Bombers.
In 1975, Brown retired from all athletic ventures and worked as a beautician to provide for herself and family. On May 1, 1983, Earlene Dennis Brown passed away in Compton, California at the age of 47. Lost in Paradise
Tumblr media Tumblr media
★ characters: uzui tengen x reader X sanemi shinazugawa | modern au
★ plot summary: what happens when two people are left alone in a deserted island with no way of communicating with the outside world? they fall in love, of course.
★ fic playlist: TBA
★ content warnings : smut, profanity, implied adultery/cheating, slightly graphic.
a/n: this was just an idea that came up to me randomly and i immediately want to write it, so here it is. i know i have a lot of fics uploaded at the moment and i'm so behind on updates, but i can't help it. i also miss writing for tengen, but don't worry, once things have finally calmed down, i will get back to writing. i also really don't want to force myself to write as it will affect the quality of the story so i opted to write only when i'm in the mood.
anyway! i hope you enjoy this one the way you enjoyed parallel lines and invisible strings! also, speaking of tengen, the epilogue for invisible strings is currently underway so keep an eye on that too.
as always! comments and feed backs are highly appreciated! <3

“Good afternoon, passengers. This is the pre-boarding announcement for flight 89B to Rome. We are now inviting those passengers with small children and any passengers requiring special assistance to begin boarding at this time. Please have your boarding pass and identification ready. Regular boarding will begin in approximately ten minutes. Thank you.”
"That's our cue. Let's go, babe." You looked up from the book you were reading, still a bit dazed as you were so deep into the novel you were reading. Still, you held out your hand to your fiance, to which Sanemi gladly intertwined your fingers as you walked and boarded the plane.
He looked over to you with a loving smile on his face and said, "Let me guess, you want to sit by the window?"
You giggled, "You know me so well."
"I learned my lesson the last time I took the window seat." Sanemi chuckled
It was during your first anniversary trip to Peru when your fiance took the window seat. You said you didn't mind, but it was written all over your face that you were slightly upset at that time. Since then, Sanemi has let you sit by the window on your succeeding trips.
Window seats are universally loved by nearly everyone, but you have a very specific reason as to why you prefer to sit there than anywhere else. You're a writer yourself, and when you travel, you like to look around as much as possible in hopes of finding your next inspiration for your next novel. It can be something as miniscule as a street sign or something grandiose like witnessing someone get proposed to.
Your last novel was inspired by a woman jogging with her golden retriever, and as usual, your book was a success and was hailed as your best-selling piece. You won multiple awards, held multiple book signings both locally and internationally, and guested on multiple interviews. Just a few years ago, your debut novel was turned into a movie, and it was a blockbuster hit.
"And that's why you're the best fiance ever." you said as you gave him a smooch on the cheeks after settling down on your seat.
"I used to love being called the best boyfriend ever, but being called the best fiance is better."
"Wait til I call you the best husband ever after we get married." You said with a chuckle.
"Oh, I would love that. Can't wait to see you walk down that aisle; just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes." Sanemi confessed as he sported a dreamy look on his face, to which you responded by giving him another kiss, but on his lips this time.
"Me too, baby."
“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome onboard Flight 89B with service from Tokyo to Rome. We are currently third in line for takeoff and are expected to be in the air in approximately fourteen hours time. We ask that you please fasten your seatbelts at this time and secure all baggage underneath your seat or in the overhead compartments. We also ask that your seats and table trays be in the upright position for takeoff. Please turn off all personal electronic devices, including laptops and cell phones. Smoking is prohibited for the duration of the flight. Thank you for choosing  Japan Airlines. Enjoy your flight.”
You met Sanemi through a mutual friend when he tagged along on your trip to Okinawa. He was the best friend of your best friend's boyfriend. You didn't like him at first because he was so grouchy when you first met, but as you got to know him more over the trip, you realized he was just as soft as he was gruff; it's just not his style to be upfront about his emotions.
Sanemi was the first to confess.
After your trip to Okinawa, you gave each other's phone numbers and social media profiles and have kept in touch ever since. You're not one to spend ungodly hours on your phone, but after meeting him, you would check your phone for any notifications from him. It came to a point where you would check your phone first thing in the morning after waking up.
Sanemi fell first, but you definitely fell harder.
Mitsuri, your best friend showed no mercy in teasing you when you first opened up about your budding infatuation towards his friend because you really did dislike him when you first met him.
You were so hellbent on not associating yourself with Sanemi ever again, but here you are, three years later, happily engaged to him.
Love truly moves in mysterious ways.
Sanemi kissed you back, "I love you so much. Thank you for saying yes."
Feeling your own tears well up in your eyes, you tried to brush it off by giggling, "I love you too, Sanemi."
*
Three hours into your flight from Tokyo to Rome, your book had been forgotten, and you were now snuggled close to Sanemi, who was reading the newest reports about his favorite basketball team on his tablet. He was also doing some extra work to kill time.
You don't know shit about basketball or sports in general, but you don't mind listening to him babble on about his hobbies the way he would listen to you fangirl about the novels you've been reading.
While he watched the video, he had one arm comfortably wrapped around your shoulders, lulling you to sleep as he urged you to take a nap because you wouldn't be able to reach your destination for another eleven hours or so.
You were finally sound asleep when the pilot's voice broke out across the plane, his voice clearly tinged with urgency.
"Good day, everyone. I'm sorry to interrupt your peaceful trip, but I'd like to let everyone know that we will be experiencing some hard turbulence, but don't worry, we will do our best to keep everyone safe. Make sure your seatbelts are properly fastened—"
Everything unfolded so quickly.
You were about to turn to face Sanemi when he seized you in his arms, and everything went black in an instant.
*
“Y/N!!!”
You screamed as you bolted awake from your deep slumber
"Oh, you're finally awake."

The 2024 Men's Olympic Marathon Was Epic
Excuse me for some screaming about the 2024 Paris Olympic Men's Marathon, okay?
Cool. Under the cut 'cause this is gonna get long and enthusiastic.
So, first of all, Kenenisa Bekele, the man the myth the legend, was back at the Olympics. After twelve years. After he very nearly won the 2024 London Marathon. I was there and seated for this.
For second, I immediately developed a massive mancrush on Yaseen Abdallah. He's 22. He represents Sudan. He just graduated from college. He--get this--had never run a marathon before. (He was in the race on one of the Olympic universality places.) And said about running, "I hate hills".
let's all take a moment to remind ourselves of the brutally hilly Paris Olympic marathon course, yes? Yes.
And finally, Bat-Ochiryn Ser-Od was running his sixth Olympic marathon, which is makes my brain bleed to even think about.
I was too cheap to pay for a livestream, plus, from everything I've read, live television coverage of championship marathons is usually pretty shit. (Especially if there are men's and women's races happening at the same time. But feminist outrage about how fukkin' horrible TV coverage of women's long distance racing is, is not the point of this post.) I was following the race via the Olympic webpage, which gives 5k splits, and various major newspapers live updates. I should also say that I'm a pretty new fan of the sport and not at all a competitive runner myself, so, take all of this for what it's worth.
That marathon was ridiculous. Reasons include:
Eyob Faniel (Italy): made what seemed like a serious effort to take charge in the first half of the race. Boy did he pay for it later. But how exciting to see someone go for it.
By the end of the first half, it looked like Tamirat Tola (Ethiopia) had been like, "I'll take it from here" and seeing him win, in an Olympic record, on THAT COURSE, in those weather and humidity conditions, was frankly fucking bonkers. Like, run do not walk to watch the Eurosports coverage of the last ten minutes of the race, because the beauty and economy of that man's stride belongs in a museum.
The performance of Akira Akasaki (Japan). Bro is 26, this was his first Olympics and world championship race. He stayed in fifth place almost the entire freaking race, even with the Faniel-led craziness in the first half, and only ended up sixth when he got passed at the very end. You can see his finish in the clip above, and I implore you to watch it. Dude looks so flipping' happy, and from what I could see on the live tracker, you could set a metronome or an atomic clock by his pacing. And you can see from the video of the last ten minutes--he's running alone! There's no one with him! Again, as far as I can tell this was his first race at this level of competition. Absolute insanity. I can't wait to see what he does in the future.
Bashir Abdi got silver! After his bronze in Tokyo! What a legend. Also, Benson Kipruto was third. Both, from the live tracker, seem to have run incredible, smart races, especially in the second half.
Emil Cairess, (a Yorkshireman! Whoo!) who went from 9th at the half, to 2nd at 30k, to 6th at 35k and 40k, and finished fourth. I bet his race was epic to witness live. (And his finish is hilarious, dude looks like he left it allllll on the ice. Love to see it.)
Seeing somebody set a National Record is always exciting; seeing someone do it in heat, humidity, and hills, and come seventh in the Olympic marathon, is even cooler. Give Tebello Ramakongoana (Lesotho) all the flowers.
In the battle of Connor Mantz (USA) vs the Hurt Locker (dude looks like he went with Faniel and paid for it), the judges award Mantz the victory. He hung on for eighth.
Yaseen Abdallah, hater of hills, finished his first marathon, in 2:11 for 33rd place, setting a new national record for Sudan. My head exploded. If he ever decides to run another marathon, dude has a bright future.
Kenenisa Bekele had a rough day at the office but he finished! I was hoping to see him medal, because I'm a huge fan of his, but seeing him grind to finish 39th is inspiring. Massive respect to him. Eliud Kipchoge sadly DNF'd, and I hope he is okay.
And in last place, Bat-Ochiryn Ser-Od, finished his sixth Olympic marathon, which he was determined to do after dropping out in Tokyo. Ridiculous.
And that was the men's Olympic marathon. Bonkers from beginning to end. Cannot wait to follow the women's race tomorrow!
Last ten minutes of the race:

my summer Paris Olympics favs
the summer Olympics is coming to a close. and it's been a very eventful Olympics. ahh, like..it was too much going on.
it's a lot of sports happening at the same time, and a lot to keep up with.
some of my favs are the swimming, gymnastics, track & field, basketball, rowing, cycling, volleyball.
Let's talk about Katie Ledecky!!! The most decorated woman in U.S. Olympic history! WOWWWW She won 4 medals in Paris - for a total of 14. I think she broke the record for the 1500-meter freestyle. Go Katie! She's just incredible to watch.
Simone Biles - the most decorated gymnast of all time! Incredible!!! 11 Olympic medals - 7 gold medals. She won 3 gold medals in Paris and a silver. So happy for Simone. Especially after the Tokyo Olympics where she dropped out because of "the twisties". I was on pins and needles watching her on the vault. She did it and won gold! what a comeback journey for her.
Suni Lee! We have to talk about Suni. What a story. I know her family is in tears. She overcame kidney disease to compete again. She's a fighter. Suni won gold for the team event. Bronze for the all-around event, and bronze for the uneven bars. She is so good at uneven bars. I think she'll win gold next Olympics. She's just incredible to watch. Everyone was so glad to see her compete and win 3 medals. After all she's been through. What a journey.
Noah Lyles and Sha'Carri Richardson both took home a gold medal. But- it wasn't what I had in mind. Noah won the gold by five THOUSANDTHS of a second in the 100m race. What an insane finish. he was a able to get a lean in over the line. holy moly. are you kidding me- this was a wild finish. Probably one of the most talked about events in the Paris Olympics. He raced in the 200m(which is his best race) and won Bronze----with covid. yes, covid! smh he had to be carried off the track after the race. Are you kidding me?
Sha'Carri did not win the gold in the 100m. I could not believe it! ughhh but she got the silver medal. But her run in the 4x100 relay was one to remember. She took the last leg and ran past everyone to bring the gold home. She did it!!! Won gold in the 4x100 relay. This is just the beginning for Sha'Carri. She's going to be back the next Olympics for the gold in the 100 meters.
BUT Gabby Thomas did it for me. 3 GOLD Medals in Paris. WOW, I'm so happy for her. I'm a big fan of her. So proud of what she did in Paris. 200-meter, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay. yayyyy
History was made in the men's rowing. I was screaming, goooooo, come on y'all got this. really take some strength to row through all that water. i'm still amazed at that. Gold medal - for the U.S. men four rowing team. first U.S. men's four rowing team to win Olympic gold since 1960. way to go. This was one of the first events I watched. woohoo. they really set the tone for #teamUSA
OK- before this gets too long and no one will read all this, LOL, lets talk about team USA in Basketball.
It was USA vs France for the finals in both men and women teams. And it was soooo close in the women's game. The final score: 67-66. A'ja Wilson was the Olympic MVP. Whew- this was a close one. omg too close. they had us all partly covering our eyes. hahaha. France was not playing around, Gabby Williams was phenomenal. 19 points as she carried France all the way till the last buzzer. But team USA got it done.
Diana Taurasi earned her 6th gold medal - the only Olympic basketball player with 6 gold medals. another incredible stat. Could you imagine winning the most golds as an Olympic basketball player? It's a team sport, with the best of the best. This is pretty special.
A'ja Wilson had a double double with 21 PTS, 13 REB, 4 BLK She also won the MVP award. This doesn't surprise me. A'ja is an amazing player! I knew she wouldn't disappoint. I'm not sure if she ever has any bad games. LOL
Team USA men basketball team. They defeated France 98-87 GOLD - they beat France. Steph Curry - that's it!
LeBron James won the MVP award. LeBron was amazing the entire Olympics. I just can't believe the numbers LeBron is still putting up in his career. Just wow. So is LeBron really the goat? Over Jordan? smh---this is a debate for another time. ahhh
But Step Curry's "night night" is one to remember. The dagger. He is just incredible. The basket he made over Wemby is insane. Do y'all know how tall Wemby is??? Sheeshhh
Steph is just on another level. He is. He is one of the greatest PG's in the league - in the world. Maybe the greatest PG. whew. Y'all think GSW will win another championship without Klay Thompson?
Final notes: Congrats to team USA women's volleyball- they won silver vs Italy. the men won bronze.
Congrats to Kristen Faulkner for winning gold in the women's road race. This was after her making the team as a REPLACEMENT. Woahhh. This makes the win all the better. She is the first American cyclist in 40 years to win a medal in the event. woohoo - go Krsiten! This is so cool.
This Olympics is one for the books! So many other amazing stories to be told. Records being broke, the unfavored winning. Ahhh- love it all. Feel like it's going to be so boring on the internet now that the Olympics is coming to a close.
Let me know what you think about this Olympics. Did you watch? What were your favorite moments?

I mean, seeing what the ISU Awards has become... do we really want Shoma (and Stephane) to be involved in that mess? It's so... self-celebratory, lol. The phrase "I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine" comes to mind. Saw a FS fan who was at Zurich tweeted that the crowd don't even know or care much about the skaters when they were given awards... honestly even Stephane, a Switzerland citizen (!!!) chose to go to Tokyo this week to do dance classes and watch the Paris Opera Ballet. Anyway if people really want to watch a really good ice show, Daisuke's ice show KASSOUYA in Fukuoka was also running this weekend and they allow fancams... from what I can see on X/Twitter it's much better than AOI, sorry not sorry.
KASSOUYA seems indeed a wonderful ice show. The snippets look very cool. I wonder what brought them to allow fancams and if they keep it that way or only because they wanted to promote the show in sns 🤔 In Japan ice shows are growing. I am glad for every opportunity for the skaters.
In a way Shoma is involved in the award anyway. He was in the nominations, even if he didn't win. Not that this award has any sort of negative or positive impact on anyone really. I think Shoma would just deserve more recognition by the ISU. That's all, not that the award itself is worth anything. I guess nobody will be remembered for earning a skating award. Yet Shoma and Kaori not winning against Ilia when Ilia is here for two seasons and did get one title only feels odd. If it's solely on social media engagement well than Adam's backflip gained huge attention at Euros, Kaori's SP last season was literally retweeted by Janet Jackson herself, Livia Kaiser's FS was retweeted by Rachel Zegler and beside that it shows that ISU is not aware of what Shoma did for the sport. OPOI brought another crowd to figure skating. (SOI in the US just got canceled for the season for a lack of interest as it appears btw) But ofc this whole award show is playing into the hand of those ppl who always had a say in skating North America and Europe. Ilia's management is practically involved in the show, so winning an award two times in a row - one which was just invented for him last season - a devlish thought may come to mind 🙃
I think the crowd for an ice show is different than for a competition. At Nebelhorn Trophy usually the arena is more packed for the gala than for the actual competition. Those ppl there don't come bc of the names of the skaters, they come for a fun evening like going to the circus. I also went couple of times to Holiday on Ice, I was also at Disney on Ice (ice shows that come to my hometown are an easy choice to go to). At Holiday on Ice last year Papadakis/Cizeron were invited and I totally chose a date where they would perform in the show bc of them, however in the crowd most ppl didn't know who they were and didn't care. They liked their performance but you could see just a few excited fans. You can see by the reactions to the jumps (which are usually just doubles) that the cast performs there that ppl don't come bc of the sport but bc of the show. They would clap as enthusiatically for a double than for a triple. So I am not surprised the ppl didn't care much for the winners at Art on Ice, most ppl there probably didn't even know them but came for an ice show.
Stephane performed often on Art on Ice so I don't think it had anything to do with that, probably didn't rather fit his schedule. Makes you wonder though if he would have won if he would have performed there. Because very comically all winners were also present at Art on Ice...🙃
Maybe Shoma didn't win because he would not attend Art on Ice at this point of the season 🤔😂 just kidding...
Tumblr media
I am not against those ppl that won at all, even happy for Deanna Stellato Dudek, she deserves the world as a role model. Just being the only Pairs skater to even get anything is showing how much ISU cares for all disciplines. Also the nominations of most categories just show that ice dance and Pairs have no value.

First version of the GReddyVI-AZ-1. This is the red version. This was later rebuilt as the white version. Pics from my book by Amemiya san. Translated text below by google with some corrections by myself.
Dream Mine Another dream machine! The compact monster is also my starting point!
GReddyVI-AZ-1 1996 Tokyo Auto Salon Domestic Complete Car Category Excellence Award
The GReddy series so far has been based on FC and FD but the body size is wider
It has turned into a monster.
However, this year, as I entered my last year in my 40s, I looked back on my tuning life up to that point, returned to my roots, and wanted to take on a new challenge. .
My starting point is a machine with tremendous power hidden in a compact body, and I wish I could tear apart a Porsche or Ferrari class hyper sports car from the outside! I wanted to revive the pleasure I experienced with Chante and Cervo.
The original gullwing used in the GReddy7-IIi, IV, and V is of course satisfactory in terms of construction and design, but it is still
PIC CAPTIONS (first pic)
A body that has originality in each part and incorporates every possible idea that is unique to the street and not found in racing cars.
2ND PAGE
The quality of the gullwings made by Kerr is high in terms of their high degree of perfection and durability. As expected, I have no choice but to say. Therefore, as I am particular about gullwings, I chose the AZ-1 as the base car, which I had been eyeing since it was first released. Sera's Gullwing was also a candidate, but I chose the AZ-1 because the shape of the windshield matched the image.
Although it is based on the AZ-1, only the door structure, roof, windshield, and some interior parts remain. Of course, the engine was replaced with a rotary one, and production began by making everything completely complete, from the body to the frame and suspension structure!
Since it's a K-sized car, I wanted to keep it as compact as possible by keeping it within the same size as the 80 Supra, with 20cms wider on each side, making the body as compact as possible but to allow Air to the 3 rotors loaded in the mid position.
PIC CAPTIONS
It is also my passion to not attach wings and to make it an integral part of the body. The rear of the bumper has a mesh pattern to vent air.
3RD PAGE
When it came to the body design, things like introduction, securing downforce, etc., ideas kept coming to me, and it was difficult but fun to turn them into reality.
The chassis and suspension took a lot of time and the know-how gained from participating in races. It is also meant to strengthen the body in order to obtain official approval, and it is stretched to the point where it can be called a pipe frame specification. The suspension has also been set up with an emphasis on handling so that it can ride smoothly around the bay. The locking arm type double wishbone has a stroke of 50mm compared to the standard 140mm. Well, as for ``how about actually driving it?'', it's a pity that I haven't been able to test it out since it hasn't been officially approved yet.
The important engine is a 3-rotor side port specification that uses the eccentric shaft and rotor housing for 20B, and connects three rotors for 13B.
PIC CAPTIONS
The mid-mounted engine is a 3-rotor using a 13B rotor. We also considered the weight balance and carefully determined the positioning.
4TH PAGE
The turbine is T78-33D, and it squeezes out about 500ps with a boost of 1.1k. However, this is also not set to the highest speed, but rather to focus on acceleration up to 300km/h by improving mid- to low-speed response. At first, I thought about having an NA like the GT, but since it's a mid-engine car, the sound would get really noisy, so after thinking about it a lot, I decided on a turbo version.
Actually, this car. I won the Excellence Award, but I missed out on the Grand Prix. Why? I heard from Dai-chan and other judges that it was because we were late for the delivery time! If the item is not delivered within the specified time, it will not be subject to inspection. However, I'm grateful that they decided to at least give me the Excellence Award because it's so amazing. I didn't create it just to win an award, but when I think about how it could have won the Grand Prix, I was a little disappointed. I was just so disgusted.
