25th Anniversary Tomb Raider Reimagined Box Art Prints

In celebration of 25 years of Tomb Raider, fans were given the opportunity to purchase the set of 15 prints of the reimagined box arts. They were created by legendary artists from around the world, such as Andy Park, Adam Hughes and Brenoch Adams and were released digitally throughout the year 2021, depending on the game's celebratory month. Each print is 11x17 inches, on uncoated stock paper.

As described on the Square Enix item listing page: 'Artists were chosen to ensure a diverse array of styles and were given full freedom to reimagine the box art, resulting in Lara Croft portrayed in comic, anime, whimsical, realistic, and surrealistic styles. No matter the genre or medium, as a pop-culture icon of 25 years Lara Croft is instantly recognizable throughout the art series'.

The proceeds from the sale was given to the charity, 'Girls Make Games', a cause that encourages more females to get into the games industry. This item went on sale on Lara's birthday in 2022, 14th February, and although it was planned to run for three weeks only, it was extended to a whole month, ending on 14th March. The prints were finally dispatched to customers on 12th May '22.

The sale was a print to order listing, so there is no leftover stock, and the window to purchase it from the official SE store is over. People have wasted no time in reselling them. On eBay, there are listings in the USA and France, with values of over $200 and €200.

Tomb Raider Reloaded Blasts Onto Mobile This Month

CDE Entertainment and Emerald City Games have finally revealed the release date of the anticipated free-to-play roguelike arcade adventure Tomb Raider Reloaded, which falls exactly on Lara Croft’s birthday, February 14th! The game will make its way to Apple and Android mobile devices, as well as Netflix’s own games service, in which subscribers will be able to play without any ads or in-app purchases.

Alongside the announcement, the team shared a brand new trailer featuring our beloved heroine in cinematic action sequences and snippets of gameplay footage.

Tomb Raider Reloaded takes players on an action-filled adventure as they jump into the boots of groundbreaking hero Lara Croft on her swan-diving, cliff-climbing, back-flipping quest to obtain the ancient Scion artefact, clearing ever-changing rooms filled with new and familiar enemies as well as hazardous traps and puzzles. Along the way, they’ll acquire run-specific boosts alongside permanent rewards, like XP modifiers, runes that improve Lara’s stats, and manuals used to unlock and upgrade her outfits, such as her fan-favorite bomber jacket. 

As players progress through each level, they can stack perks to enhance Lara’s abilities, and even craft weapons to upgrade her arsenal.

As a love-letter to the franchise, the game is set to delight old and new fans of the saga as it features iconic Tomb Raider locations, namely the City of Vilcabamba, the Lost Valley, and St. Francis’ Folly; memorable characters, from the likes of Winston, Kurtis Trent, Anaya Imanu, and Werner Von Croy; along with artefacts, outfits, and more.

Also making a return is the lovely Keeley Hawes, the British actress that lent her voice to our adventurer in the LAU trilogy and the two spin-offs—Guardian of Light and Temple of Osiris. If that wasn’t enough, it was revealed back in the 25th anniversary celebrations that the legendary voice actresses Shelley Blond (Tomb Raider), Judith Gibbins (Tomb Raider II, Tomb Raider III), and Jonell Elliott (The Last Revelation, Chronicles, The Angel of Darkness), will be reprising their roles as Lara and players would be able to chose their favourite between them all.

This connection to the series’ long-lasting legacy is reinforced by the game’s soundtrack, which includes orchestral recordings of classic Tomb Raider themes, spearheaded by musician Tina Guo—who made her solo debut in Peter Connelly’s The Dark Angel Symphony album.

Tomb Raider Reloaded will be available worldwide on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Netflix Games Service on February 14th. For a limited time after launch, all players will receive an exclusive golden version of Lara’s iconic dual pistols, like the ones you can see above.

Hayley Atwell takes on Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft!

It feels like it’s been an uncertain time for Tomb Raider lately. The producers have been trying to figure out the best way to continue the Tomb exploring legacy. For any gamers reading this, the latest trilogy of games by Square Enix/Crystal Dynamics started in 2013 are all really awesome! With Camilla Luddington taking on the voice of Lara Croft, the games were a success! This was partly thanks to the games taking on a darker and more serious tone. This is a huge shift compared to the Angelina Jolie Lara Croft movies and the original 90s games. It really shifted, and it was a gamble that kept the attention of the fanbase, and more. https://youtu.be/cb9AUAZBcOk?si=KwonhW9qxirvpFqb This legacy will continue in a new anime series, called Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, with Hayley Atwell! The new anime is coming to Netflix in 2024. The show will also be set after the trilogy of the recent games. Intended to capture Lara’s “rise” we can surely expect to see that serious tone making its way to the forefront once more. The trailer also features some mysterious moments which I’m quite excited for the show itself to answer. This trio of games wrapped up nicely in 2018 with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Overall, we got a superb storytelling arch, with a whole host of high-octane action, within stunning global locations. They really did respect the original games, whilst bringing something excitingly new. We also saw a reboot movie in 2018 and though it did step into that serious tone that we’d seen in the recent games, it didn’t quite hit the mark for the Tomb Raider following. There were some really brilliant moments in the movie, and personally, I still think that’s a version they could carry on with. However, the Lara Croft actress Alicia Vikander is no longer attached to the role of Lara Croft. It’s hard to tell what the next movie will look like at this point. Originally announced in 2021, the series will be brought to our screens by Crystal Dynamics, Legendary, and Castlevania's Powerhouse Animation. I must admit, that growing up I didn’t play the classic Tomb Raider games. I had a lot of friends who did indeed lock the butler in the fridge… (Google this to know more). More recently, I played the latest trilogy of games, along with Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. I enjoyed a lot of moments from the 2018 movie (How cool is that action-packed waterfall scene?), so as a fan, I’m genuinely really intrigued to see Hayley Atwell’s anime version.
