Hey I don't have links myself but re: that post about DuckDuckGo: I've seen a different version of the post with links to the CEO's Twitter where he refuted that (and explained why independent outlets fall lower in results) and I don't think it's true. There are a few reblogs in the notes with links. Also many of the alternatives in that list are Google or Bing clones posing as "independent" search engines to lure in people who are cautious about the big names.

Thank you so much for this info! TBH it's a relief because I've been quite happy with DDG, and I will now be on the watch for poser search engines!

Three ships: Most recently, Jiang Cheng/Wen Qing from The Untamed, but I gotta go with Luke Skywalker/Mara Jade from the Star Wars EU, and Gary Hobson/Toni Brigatti for the longest-lasting ships!

First ever ship: See the above two! They were going on around the same time. L/M probably predates G/T by a year or two, but G/T was more viciously shipped (at first).

Last film: Film? Ah geez. I honestly don’t know. I’m going to cheat a little and say “Frozen II” not because I recently watched it, but I’ve had a strong hankering for it so it’s got a 99% chance of being the next movie I watch!

Currently reading: I’m technically in the middle of “Because Internet” by Gretchen McCulloch, but tbh I’ve been reading a metric shitton of MDZS fanfic on my Kindle.

My sideblog was tagged by @ancientstone and so I decided to post there AND on my regular blog!

Okay, so, I've been writing and not completing fandom stuff since I was at LEAST 16 which means over twenty years now, but I looked through my folder and I *think* these are my faves in no particular order:

1) Sinbad and the Garden of the Hesperides: a Proteus-heavy sequel to Dreamworks' animated "Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas" because Proteus deserves ALL THE LOVE dammit! >:[  (currently over 41k words and unposted but stay tuned because I know the first 4-5 chapters are done at least...)

2) The Sense of Her: a FMA Royai one-shot taking place over multiple points in the series, each scene focused on one of the five senses (currently on AO3)

3) Gunslinger: written in a different narrative style than my usual (Old-West stylized omniscient present vs alternating third-person POV) it's a retelling of Roger Corman's (yes, I know) movie "Gunslinger" starring Beverly Garland that is one of my favorite MST3Ks (yes, I know) but still has really good bones to the story (unposted and honestly barely started but still has some damned good lines if I do say so myself)

4) No Miracle for the Likes of Us/Rebirth/Codename:Teen Idol 'Dite: *CHEATER ALERT!* These are _three_ Venus/Kunzite-centric Sailor Moon fics, but are set in the same no-Stars-AU, with the first detailing the fall of Silver Millennium, the second beginning with the Shitennou being revived immediately after the manga's SuperS arc, and the third being a plot line so heavily intertwined with Rebirth that I haven't decided whether or not to make them one big fic featuring Codename as specified interludes o_O;;; (overall size: *drops face into hands* it... it just keeps GROWING... *sobs*)

5) She-Ra: Princess of Power: a massive retelling of the original She-Ra series as a continuation of the Mike Young 200X animated He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series, with each chapter an "episode" (currently a highly disjointed >57k monster, but the first two "episodes” are on AO3)

For the ask meme --any plot ideas for fics that you just haven't gotten around to writing yet (but would be willing to share)?

I have about 750 words written on a story of Luke and Leia finding refuge together during the 1st or 2nd annual commemoration of the destruction of the Death Star...a day right around the anniversary of the single-day period when both of them lost everyone and everything they had ever known.

I have an ESB AU where Han is sold to the bounty hunter and taken to Jabba...and then Luke is captured and frozen in carbonite.  When Leia and Chewie run into R2 and find Luke’s lightsaber hanging from an antenna as they flee Bespin, Leia is left to reconstruct where Luke has been, train with Yoda, and rescue Luke while Chewie and Lando rescue Han.  (I have 20 pages of this, most of which is notes and outline, with maybe 3000 words written so far in actual scenes.)

I have a story I want to write of Kanan and Hera, undercover on Tatooine to pull a resistance fighter out of freelancing and into the Rebellion.

I have a 3rd chapter I want to write of the hazing of Kallus into the Rebellion.

I have about 2800 words written on a story with New Baby Ben and adjusting to peacetime and Leia fearing what it means for her to have had a child given who her father was, what her own biological legacy is.

I have an outline of a Tatooine Slave Revolt AU.

And I’m considering writing a story where Noah Porter Benson comes home from 3rd or 4th grade with the world’s most common assignment:  Make a family tree. But...whose information should he include?  And how much can Olivia tell him, at that age, about his birthmother or his birthfather?  And if they use her heritage...how does she explain her father?  It can be a minefield of an assignment, that one, especially where there is adoption...and even moreso where there are further informational pitfalls.

Oh, and, going back years, I always considered writing a story where I explored Max Keenan’s robbery of a Piggly Wiggly in Carbondale, Illinois, an event that I had decided precipitated Max and Ruth packing up their kids, changing their names Matt and Christine Brennan, changing their kids’ names to Russ and Temperance, and moving to Chicago to become a high school science teacher and bookkeeper (not for the mob).

I’d also like to write a sequel to my Bones AU (it splinters from “Two Bodies in the Lab”) “Distorted Views” where Booth and Brennan’s relationship progressed with fewer bumps in the road given the shifts that the AU in the story created.

Once upon a time I started a story where Abby and Ziva pretend to be married in the suburbs.

I once started a story where Tony and Ziva went camping Because Stakeout (with Gibbs threatening their lives if they ruined his cast iron).

After the Doctor had a pile of phrases to use in “Under the Lake,” I thought about writing the Social Stories that Clara wrote to explain those phrases to him...or the situations that spawned the phrases being on the notecards.

I have 9200 words written and 3 pages of notes and outline for a story where Antonia Brigatti and Marissa Clark have to deal with The Paper because Gary’s in trouble...and they have to find and rescue him too.

It took me forever to get this finished.  But here are my Yuletide Optional Details.  The short summary of What I Love goes as follows:  Badass Ladies Having Canon Compliant Adventures.  I LOVE work that fits tidily into canon.  I LOVE my ladies.  I LOVE them having badass adventures.  I LOVE hurt/comfort and fear and women saving themselves (and, sometimes, the world). I HONESTLY love them all! Really! Request 1 by Amilyn Fandom: Early Edition Toni Brigatti Marissa Clark I don't need to have BOTH Marissa and Toni; I just want at least one of them foregrounded. I also love Cat. I'm happy to have Gary strongly in the story too, but I really want it all about my ladies. Basically....these women being awesome. Marissa and Toni teaming up! Brigatti and Gary (snowed into a cabin, perhaps...)! Marissa and blind adventures! The women handling things when Gary can't. Toni knowing or not knowing about the paper. Hijinks. Toni and Gary together...or not *yet* together. Toni/Gary OTP. Marissa's skills and abilities being remembered. Marissa getting out of the bar to do things. Cat and Toni coming to a detente. Toni covering for Gary and taking heat from Winston. Toni and Miguel meeting and realizing they both find Gary a likeable oddball who has...something going on...and comparing notes. A Day In The Life of Team!Gary's!Paper. Toni and Marissa going undercover as a couple. So many options...and a magical newspaper brought by a cat. I admit, I'm not too invested or interested in Sky; I never got attached. I enjoy the other kids (though I love Sarah's interactions with Clyde most of all). That said...my FAVORITE SJA Sarah is in "Invasion of the Bane." She's still prickly, brittle, CLEVER--oh SO clever, and goes, fully calculating, toe-to-toe with an opponent. I LOVE Sarah, finally, oh-so-late in the game, meeting Jo Grant and other former companions. I'm fascinated that they never found one another until so LONG after they'd been dropped off. I DO feel we were cheated of the chance (in fanfic--I never expected it from the series) for Rose to call up Sarah once she was no longer travelling with the Doctor. I'd love to see a Tea with Former Travellers with the Doctor Group for those living in the 21st century in the UK. But I love FAR more Action!Sarah. She still running, after all these years. Still poking her nose in where it doesn't belong. Still standing up to dangerous aliens and helping the lost ones get home. I LOVE that she's the rescuer of wayward aliens, sort of like an old cat lady, but for aliens. I love that she's seen as the Crazy Old Lady of Bannerman Road...and how she, like the Doctor, keeps her distance because it's Not Safe for the others, the ones who don't have that kind of courage and fearlessness and foolishness and willingness to ask the right questions...she keeps them away unless they're particularly persistent. I love Sarah. As long as Sarah is the focus, I'll love it, no matter who else you bring on board (from the audios, DW, TW, ...no matter what). I also LIVE for tropes, though with Sarah, a straightforward adventure is aces. Literally...give me Sarah, flawed and prickly and nosy and clever and stubborn and brave and terrified and fighting for what she believes in and rashly running in with barely a plan...I love her. Request 3 by Amilyn Fandom: Cagney and Lacey Mary Beth Lacey I love Mary Beth. As a teenager, Christine was my favorite. As an adult, now that I have kids, I relate more to Mary Beth. I love how she juggles--and tries to juggle--all these things that matter to her...marriage, motherhood, profession. I am a sucker for hurt-comfort, tropes, hostage situations. A couple of my favorite scenes/episodes, are Mary Beth in "Heat" in the train yard being held hostage and how everyone tries to manage all the things, what a GREAT cop she is, keeping the pressure on this dangerous man the whole time. Mary Beth and Christine in a bank hostage situation would be lovely. I love Mary Beth and Christine going out and drinking together...that one scene of them leaving their responsibilities behind and bonding...so good. Hell...it would be fun to see them, in a later Menopause-Years kind of setting, having to play a couple undercover. I love the shootout in the series finale. I love these two and their interactions...the ways their values and backgrounds clash...and the way they mesh. I love Mary Beth as a mother. I love her as a cop. I love her as a friend. I love everything about her. (And I love the others, too...feel free to include ANYONE, so long as Mary Beth is the focus.
