hello dearest. 🧥🚒⛰️ please <3
Hello, beautiful!! Are you proud of me, Michelle, I answered an ask in a little more than a day 😂
🧥Whose fashion do you like the best?
I loveee Marjan's many iconic looks, with the bright colors, and jewelry, accessories and how she coordinates with her hijabs! But in terms of fashion that I can see myself wearing, I think I prefer a lot of Grace's looks! I am a big sweater girl, although how Grace can wear as many sweaters as she does in Texas, I will never know. But I would wear the hell out of that Marjan dress here! So I like these two best!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🚒 Quick! You’re suddenly a part of the universe! What do you do?
Ahh, what do I do that is within my realm of possibilities and experience and that also allows me to be friends with these beloved characters?? 😂 I got it! I would be a 911 dispatcher so I can be work friends with Grace AND I would be one of Tarlos' neighbors! When we introduce ourselves to each other, we of course say what our jobs are and oh look at that, you're First Responders, and we have similar things in common! You're queer, I'm queer, let's hang out and see if we can be friends!! And ideally I would be invited to some hangs at their place so I can meet everyone else in the 126. It's the perfect plan!
⛰️What’s one hill you’ll die on regarding this show? (the more trivial, the better)
Okay, this one is proving harder than it should be! Hmm, oh, I was always a TK can cook believer and would very much die on that hill!! I had no idea where it came from that our man couldn't cook! He was a firefighter and they know how to cook tasty, filling meals! And he lived in NYC, and there's no way he was ordering take out and going out every night with how expensive that can be! And again, being a firefighter I am assuming he would need to be eating nutritious meals to stay in top rescuing form, so he wasn't surviving on cereal and instant ramen! I don't think he often cooked elaborate meals for himself, but he definitely had the capability. Carlos of course changed that because cooking is one of his love languages and TK finally had someone he loved that he knew would appreciate his cooking! I cannot tell you how happy and vindicated I felt when we got TK cooking that beef wellington in 4x12 🤗

What are your fave nyc places to eat? I'm visiting there soon and I want some new places to try
Oh this is my favorite subject. OK. Pause on everything else. As a disclaimer my favorite thing to do is dine out solo and eat at the bar with whatever paperbacks have been floating around in my bag. So my recommendations are geared toward that purpose. Off the top of my head:
Good Fucking Luck getting in but Dhamaka if you can manage. It's just that good. I am a ramen junkie and believe that Ippudo NY still has the best bowl of tonkotsu in the city, but I am also fond of Ichiran, Ivan Ramen, Momosan, and of course the OG Momofuku Noodle Bar. Other kinds of noodles: Xi'an Famous Foods remains legit, and get the sesame noodles + everything else at Hwa Yuan. A bowl of pasta and a negroni at I Sodi is one of my favorite luxuries. No No No has solid yakitori and ramen/sushi to boot. Cocoron on Delancey for curry dipping soba. Dirty French for slutty bistro fare and people-watching.
Darbar Grill is my favorite Indian buffet in Midtown; not that you should spend a lot of time in Midtown. Taste From Everest has really delicious, affordable Nepali food in Curry Hill. Ma La Project is old reliable for me and my mom on theater nights. You do in fact have to eat at Katz's Deli if you haven't yet, just go at like midnight after you've seen a show at Bowery Ballroom and you're hammered. Get khachapuri and a tarragon soda at Oda House. Somtum Der has Isan Thai cuisine that will knock your socks off and you absolutely MUST order the grilled coconut rice which comes on skewers and you can dip it into a pot of spicy broth from one of your other entrees. Heaven.
Also, go to Tomi Jazz and tell me how it is.

MTV Artist To Watch: twenty | one | pilots
Posted 1/28/13 6:00 am EST by Rachel Brodsky
Meet MTV's Artist To Watch, Twenty One Pilots.
Meet twenty | one | pilots: masters of the piano-back flip.
We have so many questions for Columbus' twenty | one | pilots. First, why the breaks in their name? Why all the masks? If they had to classify themselves as a single genre, what would it be? These are the first of many questions that surface regarding the multifaceted, multi-genred duo -- between drummer Josh Dun and lead singer Tyler Joseph, the pair manage to create a sound that is neither here, nor there, not rock and not pop, DEFINITELY kinda hip-hop, but also twenty | one tries at everything else on the spectrum. Feeling confused yet? Not to worry -- TOP's quirky brand of pop-meets-hip-hop-meets-rock-meets-hardcore may sound complex, but it only takes one live viewing to know that all those loose ends are immediately tightened up once TOP hit the stage.
Old friends from high school, the guys got their start by self-releasing two full-length albums and built a major Midwest following with a subsequent deluge of energetic shows (the guys have been known to backflip off pianos mid-show, and that certainly doesn't hurt visibility). Now signed to Fueled By Ramen (also home to Paramore!), TOP have since released a Three Songs EP and now a third full-length album, Vessel.
Produced by Greg Wells (who also worked with Adele), Vessel features punchy, hard-hitting, melodic ditties like "Holding On To You" and "Guns For Hands" (which you can download here!), tracks that channel Matt & Kim's cheer-punk attitude, the Beastie Boys' shouting hip-hop vocals, and Eminem's fast-talking nasal bark. You can even hear a little Ben Folds Five in TOP's piano-infused beats (before the vocals kick in, obvs), while Vessel's "Migraine" kicks off with a vocoded ELO vibe.
Now one of MTV's Artists To Watch for 2013, the rock-rap-tronica duo (See? We tried to classify them) recently performed at MTV's "Artist To Watch" showcase, where they rolled out a teeming set of pop-core anthems, onstage gymnastics, ‘90s R&B covers, and Blue Man-esque side-by-side drumming.
In addition to preparing to become the biggest band in the world, twenty | one | pilots are currently touring the U.S. through February -- catch them before they hit Japan and South Korea in March! There might even be some backflips in it for you.
+ Watch twenty | one | pilots perform "Car Radio" and "Guns For Hands" live at NYC's Highline Ballroom, and check out more of MTV's 2013 Artists To Watch.

New York City is a cultural melting pot, and its culinary scene is a testament to that diversity. Among the many cuisines present, Japanese food has carved out a significant niche in the city. This journey through various NYC neighborhoods famous for Japanese cuisine will explore historical context, depict the current food landscape, and offer must-visit recommendations based on insights from food critics and influencers.
History of Japanese Cuisine in NYC
Japanese immigrants have been integral to New York's cultural fabric since the late 1800s. Some of the city's oldest Japanese restaurants, like Tanaka Tora-Ya (est. 1902) and Hakubai (est. 1994), offer a window into the history of Japanese cuisine in NYC. These establishments have endured over time, maintaining traditional recipes while evolving to suit modern palates. Dining at these venues feels like stepping back in time, where one can enjoy historically significant culinary techniques.
The lasting popularity of these restaurants underscores how the city's Japanese food culture has grown while keeping its roots intact. From sushi to ramen, these establishments introduced New Yorkers to authentic Japanese flavors long before Japanese cuisine became mainstream.
Manhattan’s Japanese Dining Districts
Manhattan is home to several Japanese dining hubs, with East Village standing out in particular. Here, one can find numerous authentic Japanese eateries such as Soba Totto and Ippudo Westside. The East Village is famous for its mix of casual dining spots and upscale restaurants, offering food enthusiasts a broad spectrum of Japanese dishes, from classic soba noodles to creative ramen dishes.
Another prominent area is Midtown, where upscale establishments like Sushi Yasuda and Ootoya deliver a high-end dining experience. These spots attract both locals and tourists who are in search of top-quality sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese specialties. Manhattan's love for gastronomy ensures these dining districts are essential components of the city's culinary scene.
Japanese Cuisine Beyond Manhattan
Japanese cuisine also flourishes beyond Manhattan, especially in other Asian food districts such as Koreatown and Sunset Park in Brooklyn. These neighborhoods add their unique twists to Japanese food.
In Koreatown, Takumenyc and Sushi Katsuei are standout venues, known for their excellent sushi and innovative dishes that blend Japanese and Korean flavors. Similarly, Sunset Park offers a diverse array of Asian cuisine, with Japanese influences evident in beloved local spots.
Exploring Japanese Markets
Exploring Japanese markets like Mitsuwa Marketplace and Sunrise Mart offers profound insights into Japanese culinary traditions. These markets provide unique ingredients essential for making authentic dishes at home, ranging from fresh seafood to specialty condiments and snacks.
Apart from shopping, these markets often feature in-house eateries where you can enjoy a quick, authentic Japanese meal. The lively atmosphere and diverse products make these markets a haven for food enthusiasts and home cooks alike.
Participating in NYC Food Tours
For a more guided experience, taking part in a Japanese food tour in New York City can be incredibly rewarding. These tours typically guide participants through various neighborhoods, giving them the opportunity to sample different Japanese dishes, learn about the history and cultural significance of the cuisine, and meet the chefs behind these culinary masterpieces.
Food tours offer a fantastic platform for both locals and tourists to uncover hidden gems and gain a deeper appreciation for the versatile landscape of Japanese cuisine in NYC.
NYC's Japanese food scene is a tribute to the city's multicultural fabric and love for culinary adventure. Whether you're dining at a historic restaurant, exploring vibrant food districts, or shopping at Japanese markets, there's always something new and delightful to discover.

OJT EATS | Totto Ramen
Tumblr media
There are so many ramen places in Taipei, it would unfortunately take far longer time than we have to try every one. However, that isn't going to stop us from trying and this week, we headed down to Totto Ramen in Taipei. Totto actually started in NYC rather than in Japan and slightly weirdly, only has shops in the USA and Taiwan. We were a little sceptical about it being American instead of Japanese but we headed down with an open mind.
Tumblr media
It started off well with the often seen char siu rice as a side. I feel it is a distinctly Japanese ramen shop thing to have the most common side to a big bowl of noodles to be a slightly smaller bowl of rice! This like many others we've had was topped with lashings of Japanese mayo which we never complain about. A very nice start to the meal.
Tumblr media
Then it was onto the actual ramen. This bowl was their classic chicken broth ramen. We've had a few different chicken ramens lately and this one is definitely on the richer side of the scale which was nice. It's still not quite up there with a tonkotsu for richness but it's definitely not light!
Tumblr media
We also ordered the spicy version with pork char siu instead of the chicken. The broth was the same as the other bowl, rich and full of flavour. The added kick from the chilli was relatively mild but just added that little bit of heat that was quite nice.
People in Taipei really are spoilt for choice when it comes to good ramen. It's not quite Japan but it's a pretty good alternative and especially for something that came out of the USA, Totto Ramen does a very good bowl of ramen and definitely worth a return visit!

While plenty of these dishes are extraordinary, some have always attracted more attention. Less spicy, flavorful, and nutrient-rich dishes considered the best Japanese food in NYC. Here is a list of dishes you can try at one of the best Japanese restaurants in New York.
Ramen
It is the exquisite flavor and taste of ramen that catches the attention of most Americans. Besides its nutritional value and taste, it is also one of the cheapest options available. Topped with meat and eggs, a bowl of ramen becomes all more scrumptious and nutrition-rich. If you are looking for authentic Ichiran ramen in the USA, the best Japanese restaurants would be the place to find it.
Yakibuta Ramen
If you love pork, this is the ramen for you. While plenty of people prefer having ramen for lunch, Yakibuta is always a heavier choice. It is the marinated pork slices that make this ramen nutritious and tasty at the same time.  This serves perfectly as a meal, and most of the reputed Japanese restaurants serve it. If you have a particular fondness for ramen and pork, choose this to pamper your taste buds.
The additional toppings of eggs, seaweed, mushrooms, scallions, and chashu can add more to the taste of Yakibuta Ramen. If you wish to make your meal heavier, you can choose any of these toppings to make the ramen richer and healthier.
Tonkotsu Ramen
It is another most popular choice for Japanese ramen. Traditionally, Japanese people used to boil the pork bones in water for hours to get the rich and creamy broth that characterizes Tonkotsu.
For boiling the pork bones for hours in the water, the broth contains a rich pork flavor that most people simply adore. Ramen with this broth is one of the most popular choices in the USA, and you should surely try it once if you love Japanese cuisine.
Veggie Ramen
Keeping the vegan people in mind, plenty of top Japanese restaurants keep vegetarian ramen available as a meal. Traditionally, ramen preparations include meat, eggs, and pork. However, in the USA, plenty of people prefer vegetarian meals over non-vegetarian delicacies. The Japanese restaurants in NYC serve ramen bowls topped with a variety of seasonal vegetables and other seasonings. How to Spot a Fake Ramen Restaurant?
Ramen is undoubtedly one of the best noodles in the world at the moment, so, naturally, there'd be a vast opening of new, bogus restaurants that are claming to be best. You can have ramen in one of the best Japanese restaurants New York when deciding where to slurp. If you see any of the signs given below at a local ramen restaurant, you might think of going elsewhere to have the best Japanese food NYC.
Ramen Restaurants Always Serve Gyoza.
It is sure to have the gyoza dumplings on the menu in all ramen places because it is a significant portion of the experience. If the restaurant does not serve them, then it is a wake-up call for you not to have ramen.
They Should Never Allow Take Away.
The reputable Ichiran ramen USA restaurants should never allow anybody to take away ramen noodles on the go or leftover. That's an immediate elimination – the ramen has no way of being well. It is best to have ramen in somewhere between ten and thirteen minutes to get in your stomach; after it, they will thicken and lose the alkaline living force of elasticity; after that, they will start becoming ruined and crumbly.
You Should Be Able to See the Chef Cooking.
The best Japanese restaurant New York will have the open kitchen so that you can see the chef cooking the ramen in front of your eyes. If you are not able to see that, then that's another wake-up call. The best Japanese food NYC will serve you the delicious regional miso prepared in front of your eyes. Many restaurants place cameras in their cooking area to see the chef cooking live in the kitchen.
Ramen Restaurant’s Menu is Not Immense.
If the restaurants offer the wide variety of ramen noodles, then it's a red flag. It is okay to have five to ten, but it's challenging to consider the place if they serve more than that.
They Must Serve Four Fundamental Broths.
It is significant to serve the four distinct varieties of broths: shoyu, shio, tonkotsu, and miso. They all differ in taste, but four of them are staples. If the restaurant does not serve the shoyu and shio, it's like visiting a food restaurant that only serves pizza without sauce and toppings on the top. If the Japanese food restaurant tries to innovate something new, it should remain mainly based on one of these four broths. It will help you to get the actual taste of ramen noodles.
The Ramen Noodles Should be the Star of the Restaurant.
The Ichiran ramen USA mainly sells ramen. If they are serving a bunch of sushi, French fries, or egg rolls to complement with ramen, these are odds that are not a good sign of good ramen to have in the restaurant. The delicious ramen noodles should be the center point of the menu in the restaurant.
It will be best to visit the top Japanese restaurants to get the delicious ramen's authentic taste.

How to Eat Ramen in Japanese Style?
We may be partial, but we believe that ramen is one of the most enjoyable foods at a Japanese food restaurant. The more bowls of ramen you eat as you perfect the not-so-subtle art of slurping at the top Japanese restaurants, the more delicious it becomes.
There are additional risks associated with ramen and good Japanese food near me. The hot soup might burn your lips, the slippery noodles can cause major splashback, and when precisely should you add the toppings?
As specialists Ichiran ramen USA consumption, we have documented thousands of hours of practice (it's a tough job, but someone has to do it) in Japan and the United States. To assist you in having the greatest, most authentic experience every time you dine, we've outlined the top tips for eating ramen the Japanese way at a noodle soup restaurant near me.
What Equipment is Required to Eat Ramen?
There are three main tools required to enjoy ramen and good Japanese food in the Japanese manner.
Ramen Bowl
Different ramen restaurants in Japan will serve the best Japanese food NYC in various forms and sizes, depending on how they want their customers to enjoy it. At least seven different bowl forms are listed by one Japanese ceramic artisan, all of which may be further shaped into other versions to bring out the best of what's in the bowl.
Your ramen bowl should be large enough to fit a regular 17-ounce serving of toppings, noodles, and soup.
Naturally, the larger the bowl, the more you can fit within. Many ramen cooks, however, aim for three-quarters ramen in one bowl, but this varies from store to shop. You want to be able to appreciate the ramen's appearance while sitting back from the bowl, yet without the risk of spillage.
Ramen bowls are usually made of ceramic, although they can also be made of plastic, melamine, steel, or even wood. Ceramic bowls will retain your ramen the hottest for the longest time, but they are also the hottest to touch, so be careful!
Chopsticks
Whatever your chopstick skills, we encourage using them when eating ramen. Chopsticks are ideal for lifting ramen noodles high out of the bowl for aeration (and admiration).
You may use them as a two-pronged lever to feed the noodles into your mouth. This keeps the noodles from flying about and splashing you as you slurp.
If you can slurp with a fork and pick up noodles with only a spoon, you are a ramen hero.
Ramen Soup Spoon
In Japanese, the traditional ramen spoon is called chirirenge, which means "fallen lotus petal." With a groove in the handle that leads to the base.
While the handle has a bend, the groove is really a spot for you to put your finger, so you may squeeze the spoon between your index and thumb. You may have also seen an otama jakushi, a shallow wooden ladle with a longer handle.
The spoon should be in your left hand and the chopsticks in your right. Keep the spoon below your trail of noodles as you remove them from the dish So that they fall on the spoon instead of the soup and all over your partner.
Some people like to put a little mouthful of ramen in the spoon, then take a bite that way. Visit the best Japanese restaurant New York and enjoy different Japanese foods like ramen!
