New questions to think about next. Can romance* be queer? What do we ask queerness to be to make it romance? Are we asking it to remove itself?
Queerness is a narrative sitting askew, moving uncannily, resisting taxonomy. It’s not a fixed point in space-time. Concretely and in the narrowest sense, “queer” is a sexual label meaning gay or bi, and sometimes it’s also about gender. More expansively, it means socially marginalized or conceptually slippery, sometimes in ways apart from sexuality and gender. The queerest stories are the ones that are hardest to tell.
Tucker Lieberman, "The Trail of His Flames" from It Came from the Closet: Queer Reflections on Horror
I don’t think Yashiro is content to remain as he is. I think a major theme in the whole manga is to be able to change when the circumstances call for it, to make it so that we can make the decision and the effort to change. And this theme pertains every single character in Saezuru. Misumi has to change and realize he has trapped Yashiro, collared him as said in the chapter before the last. Tsunakawa in the last chapter contemplated the idea of change again. The theme of changing isn’t esclusive of Yashiro. Doumeki has been carrying an enourmous weight within himself and he needs to confront it and face it as well. Reading this manga is a privilege. I don’t mind waiting for it, as long as it takes.
*Edit: for ‘romance’ here I am referring to the narrative frame, to the genre in fiction. In no way I am implying that queerness rejects ‘love’. Love and romance for me are two very different things. I am usually dissatisfied with the way novels or movies that are primarly written as romances portray love as a fantasy, and sometimes as an ideology.

Hello my friend I hope you are ok
The photos of Shannon with Tori and Nick from
Blaze what magazine did it come from
Hi darling!
The one from him from this post is an old e-bay auction listing from a clipping. Unfortunately I don't have the magazine name/issue.
These 2 (the original article includes 2 photos of Tori and Nick) come from March 15, 1994 Star Magazine.
The ones from here that I sent you I cannot find the article now! Would you believe that? I guess I sent them to you and I deleted the article so I have only saved Shannen's photo in "eventa" file, instead of the whole article... I'll go home on Summer and I can check those for you, tho! I'll also check the email I sent you, hopefully they are still saved there on my "sent emails" folder!
I have a couple more of Tori & Nick scans that I'll send you privately, I though I'll publish this in case more people are interested :)

Hello! How are you?
I am reading about political parties during the Regency era and I have a question. Which of Austen's characters do you think are Whigs and which are Tories?
You really going to force me to relearn what Whigs and Tories were? Cruel, cruel nonnie. I'm going to cheat, this is from my favourite thesis on Jane Austen, Above the Vulgar Economy:
As Josephine Ross in Jane Austen: A Companion maintains,
The clear-cut distinctions of modern parliamentary politics had yet to emerge; and while the Whigs in the House of Commons tended to represent the interests of the aristocracy and upper classes, as well as expressing liberal ideals, the Tories – with their broad adherence to the more traditionally middle-class principles of upholding the Crown and keeping disaffection in check – were more identified with the landed gentry, and educated, but modestly situated, families such as the Austens.
At the time, the two party system was still evolving, and there was a great deal of dissention in the ranks. There were reactionaries, reformers and radical members in both parties. There were conservative, moderate and liberal Tories, and the Whig party was factionalized into Portland Whigs, Rockingham Whigs, Benthamites and Foxites to name a few.
Also, I have gotten the impression from reading other novels (eg. Wives & Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell) from the time that often people knew which party their family voted for, but knew almost nothing else. Something that totally still happens today!
Here is another great passage:
In fact, when Pride & Prejudice was originally written as First Impressions in 1796 and 1797, Austen‟s novel appears to have been taking a stand in favor of two controversial economic proposals being debated in the House of Commons and in the press, a national minimum wage and Poor Law reform, thus Pride & Prejudice was much more than a satire of manners but was also a political critique of Jane Austen's society. Both proposals were championed at the time by Tory Prime Minister William Pitt, the Younger and supported by liberal Tories and moderate Whigs. Both proposals were vehemently opposed by reactionary Tories and radical Whigs. The eligible bachelors in Pride & Prejudice are all associated with the Whig party, as is Lady Catherine de Bourgh, but the characters, like the Whigs in the House of Commons, have very different attitudes towards money and the working class.
Additionally, Austen's contemporaries would have known that Elizabeth Bennet's agricultural county, Hertfordshire, was, at least for the working class, the poorest county in England, just as Fitzwilliam Darcy's Derbyshire, financially stimulated by the Industrial Revolution, was the richest county, and Lady Catherine de Bourgh‟s Kent was a mixed county that varied enormously, from parish to parish, in prevailing wages and in treatment of the poor. The admirable Whig characters, like Fitzwilliam Darcy and Charles Bingley, are kindly and generous, while the radical Whig, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, is selfish and stingy, and George Wickham is simply an opportunist and a scoundrel. By its presentation of the different Whig characters, the text appears to be appealing to Whigs to be generous to the working class and encouraging Tories to look approvingly on those Whigs who are willing to financially support the poor.
Pride and Prejudice also includes a large number of characters who are servants, many identified by name. As most of them have no dialogue and do nothing to forward the plot, their presence in the novel at all may seem curious, but the depiction of the working class in Pride and Prejudice is more subtle to the modern reader than it would have been to Austen‟s original readers. The servants in Pride and Prejudice refute the assumptions of prominent Whig economists and politicians, Edmund Burke, Frederic Eden and Patrick Colquhoun, who depicted the lower class as ignorant, wasteful and immoral. Lady Catherine‟s financial neglect of the poor in Kent conforms to the economists‟ advice based on their assumptions that the working class was already adequately compensated for its labor and that poverty was the result of the irresponsible behavior of the poor. In stark contrast, Fitzwilliam Darcy‟s generosity to the poor in Derbyshire serves as a model response to poverty, and the general prosperity of Darcy‟s home county suggests that the solution to poverty is a combination of higher wages and liberal charity, exactly what the Prime Minister was proposing in 1797.
The general impression that I have gotten is that both Whigs and Tories were relatively ineffective. Anyway, a pretty clear answer for one character:
Pride and Prejudice‟s hero is almost certainly a Whig as well since the choice of the name, Fitzwilliam Darcy, is highly suggestive. Lord Fitzwilliam, later Earl Fitzwilliam, was from the north of England and, as historian William Hague describes him, one of the “Three great Earls of the Whig aristocracy”
Anywho, I'm not going to go through and sort them all since it seems fairly ambiguous who would be affiliated with which party. Also, almost everyone on earth holds some views that are extremely contradictory, so it's impossible to tell.

Wait what the fuck is going on?? I’m not very active in the fandom lately so I’m very out of the loop - or if you don’t want to talk about it (which I totally understand) do you know of anyone who’s posted about what’s happening?
I'm not gonna lie I don't know all the details, all I know is that there was some discussion about tagging fics more accurately/thoroughly, which I did add to that conversation a little bit yesterday in explaining soft Doms vs hard Doms, but beyond that I'm not sure. I know someone did get an anon telling them to kill themself, as for why I don't know, but regardless that shouldn't have happened.
If anyone has an actual rundown of what's going on that'd be cool, but otherwise I'm going to stay out of it beyond saying "be cool to each other what the fuck"

Ok so I’m a big ol lesbian but before I realized I was, I slept with a fuckton of guys and I just had a dream about THE BEST guy I had sex with and now I’m horny and missing him. His dick was actually perfect- 7inches, little bit curved and he KNEW how to use it. And he ate pussy for his pleasure, just absolutely messy and perfect and amazing and god missing him is making me question everything lmao
Tbh it do be like that sometimes . I will say tho, you don’t have to question ur sexuality unless you really want to lmao like, you can have sex, even really really good sex, with a dude and be a lesbian the whole time. Sex is just a fun cool thing that feels good that people do with each other, it doesn’t have to be anything more than that (although obviously it can be!) But yeah I think missing someone who clearly made you feel good is valid as hell no matter the situation fkvjdbdjddj

The mystery of that random magenta-haired Sonic woman: solved?
For almost three years now, there's been a little mystery in the Sonic franchise: who the hell is this lady?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, it seems like fans have collectively pieced together the answer. And it's more interesting than I expected.
For those who don't keep up with Sonic lore minutia like I do, this is a screenshot from the very first episode of TailsTube, released on YouTube back in March 2022. When Sonic and Tails were explaining the basics of their Earth and the fact that humans and anthropomorphic animals coexist, Tails showed a slide of some human NPCs from Sonic Unleashed. But the slide also included this never-before-seen character design, drawn in a conspicuously different, more anime-influenced art style from the Pixar-esque Unleashed characters. So... where's she from?
At the time, it was assumed that she was probably from an upcoming project. She looks like she could be an explorer of some sort, so maybe she's just an NPC from Frontiers, I thought. And then she wasn't in Frontiers. Sonic Prime, maybe? Nope, no humans in Prime. Okay, well maybe the IDW comics are going to start incorporating humans, now that the "two worlds" thing has been undone and humans once again canonically exist on the same planet as Sonic and friends. Well, if she's gonna show up in the comics, it's been almost three years and we still haven't seen her. That'd be a hell of a lead time for comics, where production cycles are typically a matter of months, not years. Time continued to pass, and we still hadn't seen her. We just had Ian Flynn teasing us with a #KnowingSmile, assuring us that she existed for some reason, just one that he couldn't talk about yet.
Fast forward to late 2024, and she suddenly makes an appearance in the last place anyone would have expected: the third live action movie, via an electronic billboard in Shibuya.
Tumblr media
At this point it almost felt like the lore team was trolling us. Is this just a scrapped character design that's become fodder for inside joke cameos or something? Surely all of this teasing couldn't have been for a throwaway character design on a billboard in the background of a movie.
But actually, this billboard gives us an important piece of information: her name! She's labeled here as "Professor Tori." This is important because it connects her to a previous release. In Shadow Generations, Gerald's journal is prefaced with a note from the person who recovered it, addressed to the GUN Commander. In the English version, it's simply signed "T," but in the Japanese version... it's signed "Tori"!
Tumblr media
This gives us some actual info about Professor Tori. For one, she seems to work for GUN in their Archival and Requisitions Department. She's apparently also interested in learning about Gerald and Maria's lives, like their old friend Abe is.
Jump forward again to the New Year's episode of TailsTube, and this appears in the background.
Tumblr media
Her full name is officially given as Professor Victoria, and she's a historian. So, that seems to confirm everything we've pieced together so far.
As far as things we can reasonably assume to be correct go, this is everything we know for certain about Victoria. She's a historian working for GUN. Cool! But that's not what really fascinates me about her. For that, we have to do a little more speculation based on conjecture.
See, Shadow Generations also establishes information about the Robotnik family tree. Gerald had two sons. One of them took after Gerald's love of technology and became an expert in the field of robotics, and would go on to be Eggman's father. The other son took after Gerald's love of archaeology. This man would go on to be Maria's father. But, as Maria mentions in Shadow Generations... she also happens to have a little sister we've never met before.
So now, the question is: is this Maria's sister, Victoria Robotnik?!
We can't be 100% certain right now, but honestly, until proven otherwise I'm assuming that Victoria is Maria's little sister, now all grown up and working for GUN. It all lines up too neatly. The conspicuous reveal that Maria has an unseen and unnamed little sister, in the same game that establishes her dad was a history guy and also that there's this new historian working for GUN who just so happens to be really interested in her life. And also their names both end in "-ria." Come on!! Putting her in the Robotnik family would also explain all these cryptic clues about her identity. If she was just some random GUN agent, why be so coy and make fans piece it together?
I guess the most odd part here would be, y'know, Victoria working for the organization that killed her sister and grandpa. But Sega's been pushing the idea that GUN is trying to do better for 20 years now, ever since they established that the GUN Commander was Maria's childhood friend on the ARK and had him make amends with Shadow. Hearing that Maria's sister had joined GUN to try and gain access to information about her family history and undo the elaborate coverup of the previous administration would make sense to me, personally. And lest we forget, this would also make Victoria Eggman's cousin, giving him a family member in GUN. And that's a pretty cool storytelling tool to have on hand!
So, that's where we're at now. We have no idea where Victoria will pop up next, whether it's a game or a comic or another TailsTube episode or something else entirely. But it seems like she's fairly important, even if this speculation about her being a Robotnik somehow ends up being wrong. (But I'm pretty damn sold on this theory, personally.) Either way, it's exciting to see the human cast get fleshed out in fun ways again. If we're gonna have humans in Sonic stories, I'd rather they have anime-style designs and interesting connections to the narrative, rather than just being generic humans for the sake of having humans. I'm looking forward to seeing whatever the lore team's been cooking up here.

Hi where did you get the pics of Shannon with Tori spelling with Nick savalas
Hi!
These come from ebay. I don't remember now if I just bought the clippings (it was long ago) or if it was the occasion that an ebay seller had this CD-room with thousands of Shannen's pics and I bought that (I had already most of them but not these rare ones).
Usually they come from the worst tabloids like Star or National Enquirer but they have the rarest photos too, that's why I only shared the photos and not the article.
Hopefully this helps!
