it’s been a minute since I’ve made a desk post!

tbh I don’t have much to say, I finished chapter one of Trikaranos and the cave in chapter 2 is kicking my ass. every day I get closer and closer to a long form comic about whatever the fuck was going on with Ascanio and Della Rovere, but the emperor Valens is coming in hot ngl. When I got to the part of the biography that talked about how he and his brother were both ill at the same time, I spent the rest of my time reading it with the looming ghost of Caligula lurking in the back of my mind and it was a delightful experience, but I also can’t stop thinking about Valens now 🫠 RIP to my writing notebook that is rapidly running out of pages lmao

canadian here, the only difference i can think of for jollibee menus is the fact that we dont have tosilog/tapsilog here and it makes me SO MAD. i visited CA once and they had it on their breakfast menu but we just. dont have it anywhere ive visited in canada 🧍

yeah im going to assume it was more about there not being more classic dishes which is so sad. i am so sorry for u 😔🙏

My foods are probably going to be like, swayed by Filipino culture since I am Filipino and I love the food of my culture but, here go!

Probably a really odd answer but Jiro is a granola bar. Consistent, reliable, generally nutritious, and can have hints of sweetness from bits of chocolate. Also pomegranate seeds, cuz, yk, pomegranate coloured eyes... Ilh sm

Yuri is yogurt, I CANT EXPLAIN WHY??? HE JUST IS?? SPECIFICALLY STRAWBERRY. Idk

Jin is a crème brûlée, High maintenance, imo best served chilled, bittersweet caramel but worth the work if you're willing to put the effort in. (Also old fashioned whiskey, but I feel like I've conditioned myself because I put Too Sweet on Jin's playlist)

Kaito is a grilled cheese sandwich with ants on a log (celery, peanut butter, and raisins), I can't describe WHY he is such a specific combo other than it's a very vivid childhood lunch I remember eating with my grandma all the time as a kid, and Kaito clearly loves his family, or at least his grandma.

Alan is a Filipino breakfast called Tosilog, which is garlic rice, sweet and spicy Filipino sausages, and over easy fried eggs on top. A warm and hearty breakfast with some solid protein to kick off the day. (Also one of my fav breakfasts)

Sho is nightmarket street food. Deliciously charred pork skewers, honestly lots of bbq that is just grab and go, ice cream by a late night fire even if it's far too cold for ice cream, mango sago, and the like. He's rough around the edges, and so can the night markets if you've never been before. But ultimately, when you get to know him, he's one of the people, down to earth (most of the time), he loves to have a good time, and understands the work going into making late night food, since he does too! He's all the best parts of the nightlife, good food, good memories, and a dash of reckless fun. (I clearly don't have a favorite)

Haku is apple cider, london fogs, cherries and dark chocolate. A warm hot drink during the cold, another for lighter days with sweet and soothing lavender. Cherries that are perfectly sweet paired with bittersweet dark chocolate, a perfect combo of all the fun teasing he puts you through and the more attention grabbing sincerity he can reveal when he wants to.

Zenji is pomegranate seeds (eyes), and he also makes me think of strawberry rhubarb sweets and rose water. Light and sweet just like Zenji!

Haru is a ramune soda! Light and bubbly in a fun jar! Also animal crackers. I feel like it's obvious why.

Ok that's all I can think of.

I have decided I want to write mine!!

I still have to come up with a lot of stuff but I really wanted to share the stuff I want to include, and also a little about the creatures I MIGHT use!!!!

Okay so for stuff I wanna include, obviously, food. I'm planning for them to have to stay at an older couple's home for a bit (idk why) (also they'll be affectionately referred to as Lolo and Lola, which is grandpa and grandma in Filipino) (this is to represent how our country is known for our hospitality). I also know that they'd HAVE to try some classic dishes such as adobo (very classic household dish for pretty much every Filipino family), isaw (this is a skewer most commonly made from chicken intestines. Wednesday would be pleased), dinuguan (it's cooked pig's blood so both Wednesday AND Hyde would be very pleased), and more. I'm also planning for Tyler to get sick at some point so he'd get to have some tinola (a kind of chicken soup) and sinigang (another kind of soup that's notoriously sour). And you know, classic breakfast dishes such as pandesal (a type of bread, champorado (chocolate rice pudding, served with milk and sometimes dried fish), tosilog (tosino and silog), plus a bunch of other dishes I haven't thought of yet LOL.

Because those are classic kinds of public transportation, or a way of "commuting" as we call it (commuting in the Philippines means taking public transportation LOL). They'd also HAVE to visit a beach at some point. Also Wednesday would absolutely hate how loud and happy and friendly Filipinos (generally, especially to tourists) are.

I'm also ofc planning to include at least one of our languages/dialects! I know Tagalog the best (though not as well as I'd like. I was raised speaking English), so I'll probably use that, although if I can insert some Bisaya into it that'd be great too! (We have over a hundred dialects in this country LOL I don't know why but we do). That'd be a lot of fun!! And of course I can't forget the perpetual heat and humidity. Let's not forget the stray cats and dogs that often roam the streets, as well as the chickens and cows you can easily find too. Oh yeah. And the house lizards!! Can't forget about those! We also see a lot of cockroaches for some reason (yes we kill them, with our sandals and shoes. And bug spray sometimes.)

That's all I can think of for now!! I'll reblog this again for the creatures I'm planning to use because I want images and I already reached the limit LOL

So I have an idea but I wanna know what my fellow Wyler shippers think

So I was thinking... what if we did a little challenge where we have Wyler (and whatever other ship from Wednesday we'd wanna include LOL) investigate a mystery that takes place in our own countries/hometown/state?

I was just thinking this because it'd be fun to see what people come up with!! and it'd be a good excuse for me to write Wyler (and possibly Petroclair) experiencing Filipino culture and solving a mystery (and possibly murder) that has to do with Outcasts inspired by creatures from Filipino folklore. Like the aswang, tiyanak, duwende, kapre, manananggal, wakwak, ekek, sigbin, and white ladies. I'd LOVE to be able to do something with that.

I mean, I could just do it anyway, but I just thought maybe other people would be interested in trying something like this too?? Just as a little prompt that multiple of us could do if we wanted. Maybe create a deadline so we can actually see them go up. Give our own unique folklores and cultures a chance to shine?? But then I realized maybe Wednesday already covers the cool mythical creatures from your area, so I'm not very sure about it lol.

So what do u guys think?? Would u be interested in writing ur own fics like that?? And if u are, WOULD u wanna do it like a little challenge?? Or shall we just treat this like a prompt and do it on our own time???

And if not, would you guys still be interested in reading a fanfic where I let them experience my culture/folklore?
