Post-travel sickness
Prompt: Stumbling
----
Touma stumbled as he stepped through the portal when they returned from a mission. Masaru watched him as he lifted a hand and put it against the wall for support.
”You okay, man?” Masaru asked.
Touma swallowed and nodded.
”Yeah”, he answered.
But his voice was tense and his body was tense. He clenched a hand and held his fist against his mouth. Masaru raised an eyebrow.
”Wanna go a round in the ring?”
Touma pushed himself away from the wall, straightened his back. He didn’t look at Masaru.
”As opposed to you, I have stuff I need to do.”
”I bet it’s all boring stuff.”
”It’s important stuff.”
”You call everything important”, Masaru teased. ”Even tying your shoe laces.”
Touma pulled a hand across his forehead and wiped it off on his shirt. Masaru crossed his arms over his chest.
”Bet you’re just too scared to take me on.”
Touma’s hands trembled bad enough that Masaru could see it. He stepped off the platform, closer to Touma. Touma let out a sigh.
”I’ll take you on later, I need to…”
Touma took another stumbling step, fell back against the wall. Masaru walked around him and looked at him. Touma’s cheeks were red, his forehead covered in a layer of sweat that plastered his hair to his face.
”You need to?” Masaru asked.
Touma frowned. Masaru shook his head, pulled a handkerchief out of his pocket and dried the sweat off Touma’s face. Put the back of his hand against Touma’s forehead. It was hot.
”You need to rest”, Masaru said.
”I have… stuff? To do”, Touma answered.
”And that stuff is to rest”, Masaru said.
He wasn’t sure Touma would listen to him. Touma shook his head.
”I can’t. There’s… Reports need to be made, data gathered and…”
Touma trailed off. He looked confused.
”I’m fine”, he said.
”Uhu. What’s the square root of 144?”
Touma massaged his forehead and shook his head.
”I don’t have time for your games.”
”Yeah, it’s not like I know the answer either”, Masaru admitted. ”I would have trusted you whatever number you said.”
Touma blinked. Masaru grabbed Touma’s arm and put it across his shoulders.
”Come on, let’s get you laid down and resting.”
Touma didn’t pull away, but he also didn’t move. Masaru pulled gently at him.
”You’d be able to get to your stuff quicker than if you’re just stood here the whole night.”
Touma took a step. Even with Masaru supporting him walking seemed like a chore.
”How’d you even get this sick?”
Touma gestured back towards the portal-platform.
”Traveling through dimensions does that”, he answered.
”Nothing I ever noticed.”
Touma leaned heavier against Masaru and Masaru wrapped an arm around Touma’s waist. He started walking, led Touma towards the sleeping quarters they stayed in when they couldn’t go home. Touma stopped when they were almost there, pressed a hand against his mouth again. Masaru hesitated.
”You need the toilet?”
”’m fine.”
”You’re gonna be sick?”
Touma rolled his eyes and Masaru snickered. He pulled at Touma to get him walking again.
”There’s probably a trash can in the room, let’s just get you lying down.”
He opened the door, let go of Touma to turn on the lights and Touma stumbled over to the bed, fell into it. Masaru shook his head.
”Honestly thought it’d take more to convince you.”
”I’m not stupid”, Touma said.
He yawned and buried under the cover. Masaru laughed.
”You’re not”, he agreed. ”Want me to hang around?”
”You… probably have stuff to do”, Touma said. ”Don’t want to stop you.”
”Eh”, Masaru shrugged. ”It’s all boring stuff. Reports to write and data to collect. You know the deal.”
Touma laughed.
”I do.”
”Get some rest”, Masaru said and sat down by the desk. ”I’ll be here.”

Digimon OTP Week Day 1: Superhero AU
Pairing: Touma x Masaru
(As I have currently no access to anything else, this is the first time I’m operating tumblr on mobile. So if this post is a bit messed up, you know why. And sorry for the shitty sketches and the bad photos.)
Okay, so here we have some kind of vague Bnha/Hamatora-ish inspired au? Even though this isn’t exactly my otp, I love these two together and I couldn’t imagine anyone else for this prompt. They go together with this au like strawberries go with chocolate.
Aaaanyway. The idea is that while there are many superheroes in the city, Touma and Masaru are the only ones said to have never lost a fight. So /of course/ they end up running into each other and develop a fierce rivalry. They more or less start out hating each other’s guts and let me tell you, if I ever write this it’s going to be an angst fest. (One pretty persistant idea is to have one of them more-or-less-accidentally kill the other, based on one certain event in Savers. You know the one. I explained this idea to a friend who saw me drawing this and she all but begged me to give it a happy end. I’ll consider it. But I love the suffering 0^0)
Touma’s superpower is called “Control Accelerate”. He possesses super speed, but not only in his movements. His mind works incredibly fast too and allows him to quickly analyse any situation. His fights usually end in a quick victory for him because opponents never even see him coming. His public image is that of the mysterious knight of justice and he’s very popular because he’s reliable and rarely causes any property damage. And well, his intelligence and looks also help. He actually built his suit himself because he only trusts himself to get everything perfect for his own needs. It can fly over short distance and stun people with tasers built into the palms. Their intensity can be varied and even set on lethal, though nobody knows that and Touma never used it. His mother still died and he still has a very bad relationship with his family while being fond of his sick little sister in this au, which (like in the anime) serves as motivation for everything he does. His father and grandmother were strictly against him becoming a superhero, but he obviously did it anyway.
Design-wise his suit is mainly based on Miragegaogamon, though there’s some Machgaogamon in there too. I’ve been told that it makes him look like a mix of Iron Man and Wolverine.
Masaru, on the other hand… His power is to punch through anything. Security glass, concrete walls, steel doors… Nothing is Masaru-proof. His power is as simple as it is powerful. (It’s called “Limit Burst”. As in Burst Mode.) His public image is by far not as good as Touma’s, even though he’s a lot less shrewd and morally grey. That’s just what comes with being a hot-headed delinquent who’s always seeking fights. And don’t even get me started on the property damage he causes. He became a superhero for four reasons: Fighting, protecting people, supporting his mother and sister and finding his missing father who had been a great hero himself.
His suit, like Touma’s, is mainly based on his digimon’s mega level. There’s lots of Shinegreymon in there and some Rizegreymon for good measure. No additional sketches for Masaru because this is literally all there is for him. He has no helmet. His suit doesn’t have any shiny special functions. He punches stuff with his bare hands. That’s it. I imagine Touma would freak out about it on their first meeting.
“Are you saying your powers consist of punches and you don’t wear protective gloves or gauntlets or anything of that sort!?"
"Nope. Why should I? I don’t need that.”
“And you never wear a helmet either!?”
“Real men don’t need helmets!”
“Oh, nevermind.”
I can’t think of hero names for them (except One Punch Masaru because you know it’s true) Any ideas?

One thing I noticed about Thomas H. Norstein from Digimon Savers/Data Squad is that he seems to like rabbits. In Episode 7, he uses a rabbit avatar when he and Kristy are playing some fighting game at the arcade. And then in episode 15, the Gorge of Deception, young Thomas can be seen carrying a fan with a a bunny design on his back.

Nightmares calling
Prompt: Nightmares
-----
Touma stared at the ceiling. The bed was empty next to him, the room quiet except the echoes of the scream that had woken him up. His own scream this time. He turned to the side, put his hand against the empty side of the mattress. The dream was already slipping through his fingers. It had been flashes of memories, but distorted, twisted. Something from slightly to the left of reality.
He sat up, crosslegged, on the bed. Wrapped a blanket around his shoulders. The cover snatched around his feet. He stared at the door. Had Masaru disappeared again? Left him alone? He took a shaky breath, wrapped the blanket tighter around himself.
Masaru could at least have said good bye.
Touma stood up from the bed, the cover fell to the floor. He stepped over it, walked up to the door. The night felt like it exsisted outside of reality. A little to the left. Maybe it was just echoes of the dream clinging to him. His hand shook. The door was ajar and he pushed it open. A light was shining in the kitchen, weak, far away. Touma rubbed his eyes and took a shaky breath.
Walked towards the light like a moth drawn to a flame.
Brown eyes blinked at him when he stepped into the kitchen. Touma blinked back. Lifted a hand and gently placed it against Masaru’s cheek. Touma took another shaky breath, closed his eyes and leaned forwards. Masaru was there, was fine. Masaru wrapped his arms around Touma and Touma pressed his face against Masaru’s neck.
”Did I wake you up?” Masaru asked.
Touma tried to remember the dream again. Masaru had been in it. Bloody. Ripped from him. The bed empty, but Touma didn’t want to connect it to the memories he had lived through. He took a shaky breath.
”Nightmare”, he mumbled.
He gripped Masaru’s shirt, took in Masaru’s warmth against his body. Masaru hugged him closer.
”Musta been a bad one”
Touma yawned, wrapped his own arms around Masaru.
”Are you coming back to bed? Or… are you heading back?”
Back to the digital world, where he had continued his father’s work. Where Touma couldn’t follow because he still had things to do in the human world. Masaru put a hand at the back of Touma’s head, pulled his fingers through Touma’s hair.
”Hey, this is my home now”, he whispered. ”I promised I’d stay.”
”Why were you not in bed?” Touma asked.
Masaru leaned down, put his hands under Touma’s knees and hoisted him up. Carried him over to the chairs by the bar-disk and sat him down. Poured a glass of water and handed it to Touma before sitting down himself.
”Nightmare”, Masaru said. ”Figured I’d cool off before trying to fall back asleep.”
Touma grabbed Masaru’s hand, squeezed it. Took a few sips of the water. It was cool and he felt the beat of his heart slow down. He put the glass on the table, leaned against Masaru’s shoulder. Masaru squeezed Touma’s hand.
”As much as I loved it, we were probably a bit too young to be expected to save the world”, he said.
”Hmm”, Touma agreed.
He wouldn’t change it if he could, but he didn’t have the same nightmares as Masaru did. His own were other wounds that still hadn’t quite healed. He closed his eyes. Didn’t want to think about it.
He’d never stop grieving her.
Masaru put an arm over Touma’s shoulders, gave him a sideway hug. Masaru felt strong and safe and Touma’s muscles relaxed.
”Ready to head back to bed?” Masaru asked.
”I am”, Touma said and pulled a hand across his face.
Hid a yawn behind his hand. Masaru laughed and stood up. Touma stood up as well, stretched. Felt the blanket slid off his shoulder and fall to the floor. He blinked. Masaru picked it up before Touma had even processed what happened.
He was so tired.
”For the next time”, he said and had to yawn again, ”please wake me up when the nightmares get too bad.”
Masaru laughed. Shoved Touma towards the bedroom. Touma took a couple stumbling steps before he regained his footing and walked steadily the rest of the way. Masaru turned the lights off, followed him. They returned to the bed and Touma rolled up against Masaru, put his head on Masaru’s shoulder. Masaru looked at the ceiling.
”There’ll be more nights like this”, he said. ”When the dreams’re too heavy.”
Touma put his arm across Masaru’s chest, hugged him. Masaru laughed.
”It’ll be fine though. We have each other.”
”Yes”, Touma’s cheeks burned. ”We… we do.”
Masaru laughed again, moved his arm and wrapped it around Touma. Held him close and pulled the cover over them. Kissed the top of Toumas head.
”Go back to sleep now.”
Touma laughed as well. Shook his head and closed his eyes.
”You too, Masaru. Wake me up if you have another nightmare.”
”I will”, Masaru promised and Touma could finally relax completely.
