I hate seeing people say that Taylor shouldn't win album of the year for TTPD because she won it last year, or that artists can't release albums at the same time/year as her bc she "won't give others a chance"
If you're so concerned with Taylor beating you, then maybe just.... do better?
Why are we taking away from how amazing she is at her fucking job and making it a point that she is "selfish" for "blocking the charts" or doesn't deserve her awards???
She's blocking the charts and winning awards because she has a billion fans and because she is literally top of the game?? She is the greatest artist of the century???? And perhaps you should ask yourself WHY she has so many fans to begin with??? Maybe because she's INCREDIBLE?????? Do you really think all swifties are in some sort of conspiracy to back this woman up no matter what, but we don't think her music is literal art??? Get a grip.
And if you want to beat her, you have to put in the fucking work. Maybe, instead of putting her, her work and her fans down, you should try and LEARN from it.
Watch how hard working she is. Watch how she changes up genres on a whim, to stay relevant. Watch how she interacts with her fans. Then perhaps you'll be able to get on her level.
But if you don't match in those categories? If you instead watch her and say she's "overrated" or should "back off to give other people a chance", would any win you get from that not just be sub-par? It would not be rightfully earned. Because you would NOT be top of the game. You did not earn that title. You were handed that because she took a step back.
This woman put out an album that she wrote WHILE BEING ON THE BIGGEST TOUR OF THE CENTURY. THE HIGHEST GROSSING TOUR OF ALL TIME. SHE WROTE, SANG, PRODUCED AND PERFORMED AN ENTIRE ALBUM W H I L E ALREADY ON THE BIGGEST TOUR IN HISTORY.
Never forget how Reputation got ignored and overlooked at the Grammy's, and instead of throwing a fit, Taylor Alison Swift sat in her pajamas and stated to the world, "I just need to make a better album."
And she did. And then she did it again. And keeps doing so.
Learn from her.

I can’t find a source for this but it was posted on a facebook group the other day and has a very cute ending about cheese and tomato sandwiches:
"Queen were all great guys, just great guys. We knew nothing about Freddie being gay or anything, and it really wouldn't have mattered anyway… but it was just a lot of fun. Roger Taylor was not listed, but he sang on Kansas’ song, 'Play the Game Tonight,' singing the choruses… the highest voices belonged to Roger Taylor… because we’re all buddies, and he was in town.
John Deacon was a very quiet guy; he did not talk so much. Brian was just a proper British gentleman, a very nice guy, interesting. Freddie was a good guy. Yeah, we're always staying in the same hotel, traveling sort of together.
The funniest thing I remember is every time we’d meet in a restaurant somewhere on the road, kind of traveling in tandem, they always ate cheese and tomato sandwiches…
I don't know if they're afraid of American meat or they were vegetarians or what, but it was ‘Cheese and tomatoes, for four, please…' They were really good guys."
Rich Williams Guitarist of Kansas
Kansas opened for Queen on one of their tours I think. How typical that Roger ended up singing on one of their songs.
I love the image of all four of them ordering cheese and tomato sandwiches on tour at every stop.

hot take for someone who's post with the most notes is a fucking petekey joke (/hj) but i HATE when people overdramatise petekey like it's all fine and good as a joke but when you make it so literally every song is apparently about Mikey..... girl 😭 did you forget that Patrick writes songs too??? "I don't care is about Mikey!!" Patrick wrote that after an argument with Pete. "of all the gin joints is also about Mikey!!" it was written before him and Pete met. STOP MAKING IT SO PREVALENT IM BEGGING YOU PETEKEY WAS A FLING IF IT HAPPENED (also read tags for clarification)

I've just seen this post. If "It's You" is a Ziam song don't you think Zayn would find it hard to sing on tour? Especially without getting emotional?
Zayn is performing several songs on this tour that I consider to be Liam/Ziam songs, with It's You being the most tender, so it makes sense to wonder how he's handling that. I do think that for all his past performance anxiety, Zayn is both a professional singer and a celebrity who is well-practiced at separating himself from his stage persona, so I would not expect him to well up with tears every time he sings a certain song live.
Zayn is definitely enjoying himself on this tour, finding his stage presence again, and having been at his show this past Saturday I felt so much genuine sincerity in his interactions with the audience and the band. So I don't mean to imply that he is switched off while performing, because I actually feel he is being quite authentic in a way that is beautiful to see. But performing even a very personal song live requires a lot of focus and skill, so I think his mind and body are more dialed into that in the moment.
That being said, at my show he introduced It's You, paused for a moment, then said "It's you" again for some reason. At the end of the show, he reminded us to hug our loved ones (and we all know what he said he wished he could do one last time in his goodbye note). I also feel like I remember a clip from one of the UK shows where he did seem a little choked up after one of the songs (I think it was It's You but I can't 100% remember).
All of this to say, I perceive Zayn as someone who is deeply emotional but very practiced at veiling the details through his music, and also committed to doing a good job as a performer in this new grown era he's in. He chose his own setlist, and there's no doubt in my mind that a lot of these songs are Liam songs, especially It's You because he explicitly dedicated it to Liam during the Wolverhampton show. Rather than be crushed by sadness in performing them, I think the chance to honor and celebrate Liam's spirit and the connection they shared is a positive thing for Zayn, a conscious choice he made for himself and for us and for Liam ❤️💛

Friday
"Does table salt go bad" and "first amendment text" and "richmond virginia suburbs" and other things I've asked the Internet this week.
It was almost warm enough a couple days this week to make park days a thing. I tried. My toes got cold.
I think banning TikTok as it exists today is probably a good idea, but the law to effect that change seems to be in conflict with the first bullet point in the bill of rights. If we lived in a time where precedent mattered, I might be more bothered about how this all plays out. Will the government give TikTok assurances they wont enforce the law that the government enacted to oust them? Who knows. Does it matter? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ At the end of the day, I think I'm mostly just sad about my TikTok (maybe?) going away.
Booked a trip to (the suburbs of) Richmond, VA for the middle of February. A couple nights in Tuckahoe and a couple in Chester. Mostly just a vibe check. I'm hoping to settle on a plan by early March.
[work stuff.]
Rachel Platten is coming to town in March and it took me all of about 12 seconds to buy a ticket this morning, even though I haven't listened to her music in ages.
I have so many pictures to sort through and scan. And a bunch of laundry to fold.
Maybe this weekend.
It could happen.

Dream's stage presence during the TWWTH tour was great, and frankly a lot more than I expected from a guy with little to no experience with live performances. I had no doubt he'd be good at it, but he truly blew me away. And the fact he was able to pull it off so soon after a major surgery that left him unable to walk on his own? Absolutely incredible
I really hope he decides to do another tour in the future, it would be awesome to see how well he could command an audience now that he has a better idea of what he's doing/doesn't have to rehearse through a recovery period
