Parecem chifrinhos mas são as asas da Toxonevra superba, uma espécie de mosca da família Pallopteridae.

Antlered flutter fly (Toxonevra superba), something of a rare find apparently! He was kind enough to let me take pictures of him cleaning his wings and legs on the way out of the laundromat

Page 1:
toxonerva superba -> toxonevra superba
also tibicen superba didn't bring up any results, it seems that its name has been changed to neotibicen superbus
Page 2:
caloptilia azaleela -> caloptilia azaleella
notonecta unifasiata -> notonecta unifasciata
Page 3:
phototuris frontalis -> photuris frontalis
sappirina metallina -> sapphirina metallina
Page 4:
danaeus plexippus -> danaus plexippus (the larva and chrysalis)
armadillium vulgare -> armadillidium vulgare
Spot the typo, win the prize!
I let yall loose on pics of every single bug so far, and prizes go to every single mispelling and typo you can find in their scientific names.
Example:
Type in the scientific name into a search bar, and use a scientific source to check the spelling. Do not use google ai, scroll past it for a real source. If there's no "did you mean" when you first type it in, then it's probably spelled correctly.
When you spot a mistake, reply or message me!
There is at least one that I know of, but haven't corrected, so there's a guaranteed winner no matter what. And there's probably way more than that!
PRIZES, you will choose one per typo:
2 stickers of existing bugs mailed to you
A new bug drawn for you
A quick 10 min drawing commission of whatever you want
The sheets will be under a readmore so that people can still play bug guesser without being spoiled.
sometimes my r's look like v's. not a typo but if its really confusing I will fix it.
#too tired to do the other 5 pages lol#i think some other people got some of these already but i just went through everything haha

Antlered Flutter Fly. Toxonevra superba is a species of flutter fly in the family Pallopteridae. Pallopteridae is a family of flies. The various species are collectively called flutter-wing flies, trembling-wing, or waving-wing flies, because of the striking vibration of the wings in many species. Over 70 species in about 15 genera are found in the temperate regions of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Bug of the Day
I *finally * remembered to post a fly on Fly Day Friday!
This is a neat little fly called a Flutter Fly, Toxonevra superba. Was pretty sure it was a fruit fly but this is a different family, the Pallopteridae. Thanks to Ross Hill on bugguide.net for setting me straight.
