I’ve taken some time to process my thoughts and emotions after completing 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles. I left DC feeling nervous, overwhelmed and anxious about the upcoming week. Being an instructor at @soulcycle, bartending at @tradebardc and modeling for @nastypig have all awarded me an incredible platform and fostered an extensive network of people and resources. Participating in @aidslifecycle this year gave me an opportunity to use my platform and influence to give back to a community of people that has given me so much. I knew the ride would have a profound impact on my life, but I truly don’t have the words to thoroughly articulate how powerful it was for me. HIV/AIDS has not had a direct impact on me or my life, but it has impacted so many of the people that I hold dear to my heart. It ravaged the generation of people that bravely paved the way for the prosperous lives that we are able to lead today. We ride to honor and remember our family members that are no longer with us. We ride to secure a better future for those living with HIV. We also ride to raise awareness, end stigma and finally find a cure. Together, we raised $22,549! Together, we supplied hope and love to people seeking support, education, treatment and care. Ultimately, AIDS/LifeCycle 2018 collectively raised $16.6M for the year! I want to thank @kevincarnell for being a constant source of love and inspiration. I wouldn’t know about the ride if it wasn’t for him. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my friends and family that donated, sent text messages, helped with my gear, hotels and flights. I want to thank my Trade family and its amazing patrons, the entire DC/Maryland SoulCycle community and my colleagues, my Nasty Pig family and the DC @barrysbootcamp team for making this dream come true. Lastly, I have so much love and gratitude for all of the roadies that really make this ride happen. Roadies are incredible volunteers that fundraise and work 2/3/4 times harder than the riders... and they do it with an insane amount of love and excitement. Crossing the finishing line cemented my commitment to the fight against HIV. I’m already registered for next year! Cheers!
