Reflection

The calming appeal of the lifestyles shown under tags such as #tradwife, #traditionalwife, and #femininenotfeminist are enticing. However, the realities are much less idyllic. This conservative version of femininity rose in popularity in early 2020, spreading right alongside the pandemic (Google Trends). Having people stay home caused people to spend more time on their phones, and TikTok became a common option for escapism during that time. All the while, growing anxiety about the world and how to survive economically with such unreliable employment led people to seek out alternatives. #SmallBusiness, #VanLife, and #CottageCore were common tags growing in popularity on the app. Homesteading and communes became not just an idea, but a seemingly more viable option than a career after unemployment skyrocketed. Just like everyone else, conservatives had their fears about the pandemic. Unfortunately for them, they didn’t have capitalism to blame. So, instead of targeting this anxiety towards change, they chose the Make America Great Again route.  With this slogan being ubiquitous at the time, it makes sense that conservative women looked at the homesteading trend and added their own 1950s spin to it. There were already a lot of similarities. Long dresses, gardening, baking fresh bread, and taking on a slower-paced, natural lifestyle all fit within both groups. So if a woman was already a mommy blogger, a baker on TikTok, or even a homesteader, all she had to do was add a few more overt conservative dog whistles into her content and she was at the forefront of the newest trend. While there isn’t anything inherently wrong with wanting to stay home and be a housewife, posting it as though it is a perfect solution to your economic worries creates an unrealistic goal. Most importantly, these women are not housewives, they have created careers by performing as stay-at-home wives while earning income as content creators. Whether they make their money through rage-bait and conservative talking points, or easy baking recipes, it’s still a career.  The most problematic result coming out of this is the effect it can have on impressionable young girls. Something that seemed to be commonplace on Tumblr, but was also apparent in comments on TikTok and Instagram were young women striving for this lifestyle. Women longing for an alternative to working day in and day out are now being told that relying on a husband is the only option. And realistically, it’s just another unachievable social media trend. But what makes this goal worse than most trends is that it encourages girls to put themselves at risk of economic abuse with no work experience. This blissful escape from breaking the glass ceiling can lead to much worse financial issues in the future for these impressionable young women. On top of this, homemaking is a gruelling and lonely job. Even without children, cooking, cleaning, and general housekeeping for two is tiring. It also is a job that doesn’t end at 5, or have weekends off. Especially if someone chooses to do homesteading on top of it. Overall, it’s a careless choice to actively lie to an audience about the dream-like nature of a life that, in reality, would consist of long and arduous work.

Yesterday I read a text about the extended family and how it was always a protection and also making a lot easy for the daughter who newly married. But it can be only a help for the daughter (in law), if the parents and stepparents married young and are still young, have thus no big illness problems and are living near to the daughter (in law). And they need the responsibility feeling to help the newly wed showing her how to make food, clean up etc. Otherwise one side or even both sides of the parents will be not useful. I hope that we can build these traditional extended families again.

It's been a while that i want to seriously share about these thoughts. About how a Marriage should be held. About the Husband position among the wife or wifes.

It is important that women has to understand their position. One easy thing to remember is ROS , it consists of RESPECT - means Respect your Husband above your friends, your siblings, your families, even your parents. OBEY - means that women has to obey their Husband without any questions, never argue or questioning your Husband rules, tasks, orders. Then SERVE&SUFFER - means women has to serve the Husband in the best way and even suffer for doing it, because women don't deserve any satisfaction or enjoyment unless their Husband gave. But good Husband knows that satisfaction and enjoyment don't do good among women.

If more couples lived a DD lifestyle, there would be fewer failed marriages.  Married couples throw the towel in at the first signs of problems today.

 Life is not a bed of roses all the time. You have to take the rough with the smooth. People give up far too quickly today.

Adopting the domestic discipline lifestyle will help eliminate those petty arguments that fester away and quickly lead to a break down in communication and eventually your marriage. 

The man should be Head of The House, and it is his responsibility to take charge of his home which allows the woman to be a wife and take care of the family while he takes control of the family

MY JOURNEY TO MODESTY 

Hi lovely, so about 2 years ago I started my journey of pursuing holiness and modesty.

​

From being a young lady who loved high waist pants and crop tops to being 'skirty' was truly a big transition.

​

See, I live on a tropical island and its mostly sunshine (other from in hurricane season) so for me to dress modestly, covering as much as possible was truly challenging.

​

But I truly wanted to obey the Almighty God so I had to do what I know was right.

​

God was working on my inside and I wanted to please Him.

​

I must say; true modesty starts from within.

​

Modesty is much more than neckline or hemline, it has to do with what is on the inside of a person.

​

Though modesty is much more that what is on the outside we should ensure that we also manifest outward modesty.

​

Most people think that being modest means being frumpy or dressing ugly but it is far from that.

Modesty is beautiful. Dressing modestly helps with self confidence.

It gives me a wonderful feeling when I get complimented and I am not wearing revealing clothes.

​

Our entire life should please God Almighty including but not limited to our wardrobe.

I feel delighted to be on this journey of holiness and modesty. I trust that all will be encouraged and engaged in my postings.
