Today I had to do my weekly HIIT Session. This time I decided to perform Long Shuttles (800m+) in HIT Zone 1, in my case between 101 to 106 % of critical power (321 Watts). As my track was not flat it was quite challenging to hold the power inside the zone when the elevation of the terrain changed within the intervals. From pushing slowly and powerful uphill to running with a very high cadence downhill and a high need of concentration and proprioception. Most time I pushed harder than necessary, because I was afraid of falling below my threshold. I am bold enough to say, that there's a couple of things I'm good at. But I am also honest enough to admit, that there's so many things I totally suck at. I guess that's the truth almost everyone of us have to live with (except for Elon Musk). However things get really exciting, if different people come together and everyone brings in their own, unique strength to work on the same project. A couple of months ago Stephan Wieser started such a project and named it "Beyond the Doubt". He gathered some of the most talented people in and around filmmaking and I feel honored that I've been invited to contribute a small part to the puzzle. "Beyond the Doubt" is a documentary movie about the quasi-legendary Transalpine Run, a multi-day trailrunning event where teams of 2 run across the alps. Sure, this story has been told already, but the power of "Beyond the Doubt" lies in the depth and intensity how it reflects on the thoughts and feelings of its main characters. Everyone who has run the TAR will relive the manifold experience. Everyone who thinks this is crazy will understand what exactly encourages athletes to join such a race. Es war eine der krassesten Erfahrungen meines Läuferlebens und auch eine der herausragend schönsten. Nach zwei Tagen und 12:11:37h auf epischen Trails und brutalen Höhenmetern, konnte ich mit Culli und Jonas über die Ziellinie laufen. Der TransalpineRun RUN2 hat mir die schönsten, aber auch die brutalsten Seiten der Berge gezeigt und ich fürchte, daß ich nun komplett dem Trailrunning-Fieber erlegen bin und es kribbelt in den Beinen, herauszufinden wie diese Reise auf den folgenden 5 Etappen weitergegangen wäre.   “Every moment spent in the mountains makes me more aware of who I am and more thankful to life.”
Since she was a child, she has practiced a lot of different sports, even athletics - she was twice vice Italian national champion -, but her true passion for the mountains remained untouched! This is why, in 2002, she started with ski mountaineering racing. She became a member of the Italian National Team and won many important races: twice Italian National Champion in 2006 and 2008, vice champion in 2007, she won the Pierra Menta in 2007 and 2008 and achieved the World Champion title on the long distance in 2008.
Born in Bozen in 1986, she is the daughter of a famous Italian ski mountaineer, and has lived all her life in the mountains. This is probably why it was inevitable that the mountains went onto have such a strong influence in her life, becoming her passion. In 2014 she reached the summit of K2 becoming the second Italian woman to do so.
  After the ski mountaineering experience she was looking for new, extreme challenges in the high mountains.
Since she was 14 years old, she dreamt of climbing an 8000m peak and through the years she always had had a certain idea of how she would have felt being there. And then in 2009, her first big mountaineering experience in Nepal, she could say that her expectations were satisfied. Since this first experience, things are clear to Tamara: “this is the life I want, and nothing else!”

„Tamara Tour Italia“ - A multi sport road trip (mountaineering, climbing, running, biking, paragliding, kayaking). I traveled all over Italy with the camper van, climbing the highest peak of every region.
„Climbing for a reason“ - social project in northern Pakistan, Shigar Valley. We reached to climb muslim girls from 5 to 17 years. Furthermore we built an artificial climbing wall and set up a climbing spot with 19 routes on the rocks of Shigar Fort.
„Tamara Tour Spain“ - A multi sport road trip (mountaineering, climbing, running, biking, paragliding, kayaking). I traveled all over Spain with the camper van, climbing the 18 highest and most important 3000m peaks of Spain.
“In women sports there are still many opportunities for me because there are just a few women in the world who dare facing up the awkward demands of an expedition to the highest peaks of the world. Though, it’s not about the competition or measuring with other athletes, it is all about proving myself – to myself! What will I be able to achieve? How difficult can things become? Which levels of mental and physical demands will I be able to cope with?”

Not enough time for recovery results in a low status of your body battery which means less power and an increased risk of injuries. A hard week ended today with a 31 km FatMax Run through the forrest of „Huertgenwald“ together with my new Trans Alpine Run teammate „Seb“. This is how a HIIT should look like on your performance sheet! In this case I did VO2max Intervals - Short Shuttles - 2 x 10 x 60s. Sometimes shit happens ,like I had to notice today during a nice trailrun! But there is no reason to complain with it, so I try to reduce the grade of swelling which will occur, to get back on track or my racebike (1st time this year 😜) as soon as possible. To reconcile the time to my next running session and go on with improving my energysystem it will be a good alternative. Run 2 after my involuntarily 4 week trainkng break. I was positively surprised how good it worked, allthough I lost around 5 Watts of power and my quads and calfes tried to pipe up after 12 km. Today, after almost 4 weeks without training I decided, that my body isn‘t sick anymore and did an easy Basic Endurance/FatMax Run over 10 km on a flat track. The objective data, the relation between power, pace, and heart rate, have shown values I had before I catched the viral infection. My respiratory tracts still were not completly free, but I‘m optimistic that this will change within the next week. After 18 days without training, because of a viral infection which I have caught during the days after my Ultratrail weekend at Houffalize/Belgium, I started today with easy strength training and an easy 30 minutes run on the treadmill. During the training I could feel that my body is still weakened, so I have to handle volume and intensity carefully.
