Badge of Honor

In infraspace, Optimus and Bumblebee talk about what happened immediately after the latter’s untimely death.

“—and then Megatron donned your badge.”

Bumblebee couldn’t help the chuckle that broke out of his throat at that. Optimus, always so condemningly humble. “Oh, please, Optimus. I led the Autobots for a few years. That is not long enough to call our symbol “mine”. It’s yours. The Primes’. Everyone who came before.”

Optimus shook his head, but it was in good humor. “No, no. He took the only badge nearby, Bumblebee. Yours.”

“Wait— You don’t mean—”

“Yes. He took it over your dead body.”

Bumblebee cackled, turning away to cover his mouth with shaking servos. This was— This was so funny. So perfect. How did Starscream always leave out the important details? Like Megatron grave-robbing Bumblebee before he was even buried?

But it went without saying that Optimus was a much better conversationalist than Starscream was. His jokes never failed to make Bumblebee at least smile and feel a bit better, even when they were puns.

“The great leader of the Decepticons took my badge?” Bumblebee giggled behind his servos, turning back to Optimus. “Is that flattering? Should I be flattered?”

“I think it was rather sincere… But truly unbearable.” Optimus was probably grinning under his mask, as well. What a pair they made; four minutes together and they were reduced to school yard children. “You should be rightly offended!”

“I think I’ll stick to flattered,” Bumblebee decided, leaning against his oldest friend.

Optimus wrapped his arm around Bumblebee without pause, and looked up at the twilight sky above. Bumblebee followed his gaze up, like there was anything new that he hadn’t seen before.

Instead, all that came was a sigh and a phrase he had asked himself daily; “Oh, Bumblebee… How are we going to get out of here?”

It feels like I haven't drawn Sunstreaker in a while.

I apologize for the quality here, I'm not really proud of it. The computer I usually draw on decided to have an aneurysm (R.I.P. my WIP), and I am now using a Chromebook (ew) to draw. Ibis Paint X isn't bad, but on a Chromebook, everything feels immensely off. I wish I experimented with the brushes and pressure sensitivity more. I don't like how Sunstreaker turned out in this. He reminds me how my old art on a phone would look like. 😭

Below is a time lapse of the progress. I spent too much time on the line art, so you'll see me fixing Sunstreaker a bit - I may or may not have ignored the stabilizer, whoops. Originally I was going to draw his G1 form, but I decided for IDW instead. Then there'll be random lines here and there. That's me experimenting with different brushes (as I should've been) and the pressure sensitivity (finally). I'm new to ibis Paint.🥲

Where it looks like I'm doing nothing, that's me correcting minor colouring mistakes.

I hope to get the usual computer back. I miss drawing on an actual computer. (˚ㄥ_˚)

I realize I should've also made Sunstreaker and Bob's boxes larger.

for context the audio is that tiny angry frog meme from a while ago. also this will help me practice drawing robots(depending on who wins, anyway), so double win for me :D

forever thinking about D-16’s “I want to kill him.” monologue. that initial line hit so hard. it was a line that made me think There He Is. because, yeah, that’s the megatron we know. that’s the megatron that worked in the mines, and when cybertron’s government turned its back on him, his rage won out. he devoted his life to something for nothing, for a world that didn’t give a damn about him. the story may have changed, but the essence of his origin is still there.

I dont know if anyone already answered your question about why thundercracker and skywarp look like starscream, but if no one has i am pleased to inform you that canonically (for idw 2005) they look like starscream because he wanted them to get frame changes to match him so he could use them as body doubles for tax evasion

I just read this issue and god lord, it hurt me more than I expected

Is the fact that even if Bee was mad at him, Star never stop trying to talk to him again, he just craves his little interactions together.

The last panel is the one who broke me entirely. He was probably sleeping on his desk, freshly awake and at the moment he heard his name he believed for a moment, for a brief moment, that it was Bee finally talking to him, finally going back to their little routine of fighting with each other. Starscream hoped his name was being pronounced by Bee again.

Hi! Probably a question that's been asked before, so I'm sorry in advance: what comics would you personally recommend to someone terrified of mischaracterizing Prowl?

Terrified? Ahmm. Certainly not IDW 2005 haha. He has like five different personalities there and writers are switching between them with no explanation

So you'd be doomed to misharecterise him because canon already does that

Sadly I don't know much about other tf comics outside of IDW 2005. If you're terrified of writing him wrong the best thing I can really recommend is looking at cartoon versions of him. They tend to be much more consistent.

Anyway, in my version of events, after Thundercracker left the Decepticons, he tried to hide out on Earth and not attract any attention from either side, but Bumblebee found him. Instead of turning him in, he ended up helping him stay in hiding and even provided him some Energon.

Thundercracker would later repay his kindness by saving his life.
