Our vet captured these images and video through our microscope lens today! Linognathus setosus - canine sucking louse The adults can reach up to 2mm in length, and the first pair of legs are smaller than both the second and third. The lice that affect people are not the same as the lice that affect dogs or other animals, and they typically do not transfer between different species. In other words, people cannot become infested with lice from their dogs, and dogs become infested with lice from people. Lice can cause intense itchiness, constant irritation and restlessness in affected dogs. This almost always causes the dogs to lick, rub, scratch, chew and bite at affected areas. They also develop a coarse, roughened hair coat and skin redness, rawness and inflammation (dermatitis).
