((It’s the final chapter of the Romulan/Vulcan forbidden lesbian romance))
“Come,” Faleen said. “There’s someone you should meet.”
Odime slinked back and allowed Falleen to lead Verelan to the acquaintance she was so eager to introduce. He stayed near the back of the room, an older man, tall with gray hair and a stern face. While they kept a normal conversational distance between themselves, he spoke in a low voice that Verelan strained to listen. “We cannot waste time on pleasantries. If you wish to make the journey to Virinat, go to the woods around the back.” With a swift and elegant motion, he slipped a small device into the palm of her hand.
Verelan fought to keep her shock from showing on her face. She answered in a tone that was both soft and frantic. “You’re both taking on a massive risk in helping me. Odime…”
“We are both aware of the risks,” he interrupted. “The choice is yours to make. I suggest that you wait until seating begins and excuse yourself, the better to slip out undetected.”
The man turned to go, and as Verelan watched him walk away her fingers curled around the device so tightly that she felt the edges dig into her skin.

“I’d feel much better if I had a glass of cold water.”
“You look like you need it, but just so you know, the water isn’t complimentary.” Quark kept a friendly demeanor, but spoke as if he was explaining something to a child who had to hear the same lesson over and over.
“It’s fine, this is what I need.”
“Well, if you want something a little more interesting, I’m pleased to announce that our replicators are now capable of making Romulan ale. I’m curious to know what you think.”
“No thank you…I’m pregnant.”
“Am I offering congratulations or condolences?”
“I’m not sure what to make of the situation myself.”
“Well, that water will be on the house regardless.”
“How generous.” Verelan rolled her eyes.

((Forbidden Vulcan/Romulan lesbian romance))
Jake still looked down and kept his hand on the back of his neck. “I kind of thought…no, never mind. It’s stupid.”
“Jake.” T’Lyra began. “I would appreciate candor, if you feel safe and comfortable to share.”
“Okay…but it’s really stupid, maybe even creepy…” Verelan and T’Lyra both looked at him expecting an answer. Jake took a breath. “I always, even back when we were kids, kinda hoped that in spite of everything you two would find a way to make it work.”
“You hoped for an outcome that would end favorably for your friends. It is actually quite logical.”
“Just don’t tell that to Captain Solok,” Nog teased, and Jake gave him a playful punch on the arm

This twentieth century life was beautiful and leisurely. There were moments when she forgot her purpose and stopped scheming a plan to get out of here and back to Seattle to see that the launch would go off without incident. There were moments that she forgot all the ugliness she had seen in this century: the slums, the violent police officers, the devastating war. Maya now understood something that once baffled her: how people living through such trying times could turn a blind eye to the suffering around them. It was easy to ignore hardship when you lived a charmed life and were well removed from the worst of it.

((AU where La’an is still on the enterprise during Space Seed))
“There is a place for you at my right hand.”
No response. Unsurprising. La’an would not be so easily swayed.
“I have studied the history of Earth that I missed. My children did not meet a kind fate. Exile, forced sterilization, execution…it seems the only conceivable solution to Eugenics was further Eugenics.”
Still nothing.
“It pleases me to know that at least one of my children survived long enough to have children of their own.”

Maya materialized in the transporter room of the DTI headquarters where Carmack was waiting for her. She moved quickly to pull the gun out from under her arm and aimed it at Carmack. This time she braced herself with every muscle in her body rigid and tense, ready to pull the trigger.
“Give me a good reason why I shouldn’t do to you what you did to me,” she spat.
Carmack remained calm and unmoved, with his hands clasped behind his back and his feet set wide. “I had hoped you were a better person than to let the late twentieth century’s obsession with gun violence rub off on you so easily.”

He extended his right hand, but Maya stared at it in disgust. “It may not be too late to turn history in our favor. There are enough of us still on earth. You were brought into this conflict unwillingly, and I am willing to extend one more offer to you to be on the right side of history.”
She stared at his outstretched hand a moment longer before she responded. “I’ve seen the future your interference caused. Earth fell to the Romulans.”
“I’ve seen that future too. Earth won’t be conquered for another one hundred and fifty years. One hundred and fifty years of advancement inspired by the rightful order of biological supremacy. Humanity will become a better species.”
“But not good enough to beat the Romulans.”
“My life will be over by then. I’m less concerned with Earth and more concerned with my place in it.”

((Saavik/OFC))
Sarek was waiting. He stood up and went to Amanda's side, and after a brief touch of their fingertips, he helped his aging wife to her seat. All Maya saw was another possible glimpse of her future. The years never seemed to slow down her father, but her future was unclear when it came to the timing and tempo of aging. All she knew was that before she left on this misadventure she noticed her first few gray hairs growing in, and she expected that number to triple by the time she returned to Bellingham. Maya forced those thoughts out of her mind. Their hardships were over, best to be present and try to enjoy this social call.
