In theory I trust when people tell me things like "doctors and therapy are ways God can work to give you healing" but in practice I am riddled with doubt and worries that I am #Sinning because I'm not #TrustingTheLord enough by just being so tough that I can think my way through my PTSD.

• MOMENT OF GUILT • Being a mom is hard.. being a single mom is harder... many of those moments that rip your heart apart and those moments of total guilt because sometimes parenting alone can push you to the brink and all you can do to survive it all is to gather that courage to once again forgive yourself for acting like a "horrible mother" ! Maybe...just maybe, the first thing to do is, Stop giving myself such a bad label.... i am not a horrible mother...i should know this! Today was just not a good day, i am almost certain that this moment will change, my feelings will change and i am almost certain that my child will behave better tomorrow and then maybe the day after that he will act up again....not everyday is peachy and motherhood is definitely a roller coaster ride at time, actually a lot of times! Today i will be brave enough to forgive myself and i will be brave enough to tell my kid "I'm sorry that i yell at you."... Today i will pray that my child will know that he has a mom that recognizes when she's wrong and knows when to apologize. Today i will pray for forgiveness and will continue to seek God for guidance. Today i will remember to pause. This is motherhood..... It's crazy! It's a journey like no other but it's one of the most beautiful experience!!! "God can dream bigger for me, for you, than you could ever dream for yourself." ~Oprah Winfrey This week starts a new journey for me, as I begin my role as Chief of Staff for Senate District 30's new State Senator. Being Chief of Staff for a State Senator is not a Kercena dream but is God's dream for me. I am completely surprised that this is my life right now!!! 😲😆 Whatever hopes and dreams you have for your life, have faith in their possibilities, so much so that your words, deeds and beliefs work together to bring them to pass. While you are believing, trusting and working to bring them to pass, God will be busy being God in your life and the world. Using God's power and all that God has created (the Universe), God will partner with you, through your #faith, to create the unimaginable, unbelievable and impossible in your life. I am SO very thankful, humbled and grateful for God's dreams for me and us. #ToGodBeTheGlory, a black woman, me, is going to the State Senate as Chief of State for a young, black, bold, service and policy-focused, and results-oriented leader. Pray for me, him, the entire team, our community, the State legislature, and the entire State. My team at my former job blessed me with many parting gifts. Two of the gifts consisted of a crown as well as a mug that reads "act like a lady, think like a boss." Both can be found in my picture collage. 😆 I am moving forward in this journey remembering who I am (God's beloved daughter who was chosen by God for such a time as this! Hence my Nichelle Kobi "Dare to be different" art piece and my "woman's place" tee are pictured in this collage); on whose shoulders I stand (Hence, me choosing to wear a shirt on my last day of work with the names of pioneering, #UnBoughtAndUnbossed women who transformed this country with their faith); and who is with me (God and the Universe are with me and have my back! God is unchanging.

The weather changes.

Fashion changes.

Even change changes.

God has not changed and cannot and will not ever change. #faithfulgod

The active movement of God is captured in these photos....and it's overwhelming. I spent the first few years of Elijah's life feeling defeated to the fact that i will have to do the best i can to provide a normal home for him...to be the both parents for him and hoping against hope that he will not have to feel missed out on how to be loved by a mom and a dad. ... ..... It was difficult. Deep in my heart i knew that it will be nearly impossible to achieve that for him. ... .. I'm just a Mom. ... But then God had a better plan. Well...of course HE does. And HE sure did know that even though i never wanted to admit... i couldn't do it by myself.... .... And one day, there's Justin... this fearless soul of a man.... you see, he's part of God's plan, and just as amazing as God's plan, HE also brought an amazing man. God gave him a new heart and new set of eyes and created a hope and a dream. ... You see that smile on Elijah's face? Yes, that's the kind of joy Justin brings to my son.... .... .. Ever Felt Alone?

I clicked the play button and a familiar song filled the room. In a second, my memories travelled back to when I was teaching the song to a group of young people. 

I’m all alone. Again.

This is not entirely new for me. I’m used to it. I grew up with it. And whenever surrounded by a lot of people, I would sometimes wish to be alone.

I remember walking the streets of Manila alone. Or that moment when my heart raced because it was almost midnight and I was alone, lost in the streets of Cubao, or that time when I went canvassing alone and driven by home-owners away, or when I had headache in the Superferry but needed to exert all my strength for I was travelling alone, or going to Negros and Lopez Jaena alone and not knowing the exact venue of the mission field, or riding buses from UP to Sampaloc alone, going to SM alone, eating alone, cooking alone, walking alone, living in the boarding house alone in my room, staying late at night in my childhood alone. I’m used to being alone. I don’t mind being alone.

But not this time. 

I went out of the room. No one else.

Sometimes, when you are in despair, your heart clamors for companionship, for some sympathy. This, especially when words cannot be uttered, when  anguish of soul just fills your heart and you’re afraid of expression.

I looked for my family. None. I waited for my friend. None.

But, somehow, I remembered Him who trod the winepress alone, for me.

Jer 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,..

I know He will never leave me. Because he trod it alone, for me. 

I am not alone.

I am not alone in my problems, I am not alone in my struggles, I am not alone in my sufferings, I am not alone in my trials. I have Him, who trod the winepress alone for me.

Then it came to me. Many people feel loneliness. Some try to hide it through social media, amusements, relationships. But in the end, they are still alone. Many people feel alone. 

But I thank God I know Him.

Because loneliness for me means more prayer time, means being prepared to trace foreign lands without the pain of leaving people behind., means learning to trust the Lord at all times, means not making flesh my arm, means longing for heaven more and more. 

And I would rather be alone here and reach heaven, than be surrounded with people and forget to yearn for eternity.
