Nibbles, In a Bee

To be honest, the young man had not expected to be waking up. The last days had been a constant state of panic, stress and worry to the point Sam was pretty sure he had been having a heart attack.

All that alien crazy, All Spark energy that seemed to vibrate in him.

Sam jerked, a nearly full body movement inside of his current... Home? Prison? 

It woke the young man up enough to semi remember the night or day before. mostly remember it. It was still hazy as Sam had been breaking down between Bumblebee's legs. 

The chamber around Sam seemed to shift in response to his sudden movements. The hot liquid pressure increased as the chamber flexed, squeezing tighter around the human. Slowly forcing Sam into a smaller and tighter ball. 

For some reason, that helped calm him down. 

Maybe it was the fetal position, but after what might be a minute, Bumblebee's tank relaxed again. The muscle cables on the other side of the tank loosening and going mostly slack. Sam waited a moment and tried to 'sit up' in the tank, back resting on one side, his legs able to cross without resistance. He reached out to run hands over the flex metal lining.

It was a curious sensation, knowing he was stuck in his robot guardian's equivalent of a stomach, yet not... panicking. After the last few days with the deceptions and all spark, all out alien war.... Sam oddly wasn't scared where he clearly was. 

He should be.

Should be worried what was the fluid he's been breathing. Should worry how Bumblebee could get him out. Yet Sam felt… safe. Weirdly, oddly, not in a way that his tired self could put together. For the first time since he saw his car stand up on his own, Sam was oddly… safe. Maybe because he was waking up in the post panic attack numbness. The small space, or that the fluid he was in, was distinctively warm, if not hot.

Maybe all of the above, pulse the strange sensation of knowing he was under who knows how many feet of armor and systems of Bumblebee's frame.

Sam shifted to get comfortable in the tank, the soft/smooth sensation on his body nice. Between that and the heat he was relaxing into the tank walls. There was no sense of movement beyond the tank other than faint small things. Other systems in his guardian, but he was not up and moving.

...was Bumblebee sleeping?

Would this be the first time Bumblebee napped or slept in the whole time he knew the mech. Or whatever the equivalent to sleeping was for him.

There was an odd sensation as Sam reflexively yawned. The need to settle despite how he... well, was settled in the tank. Sam still wiggled a bit, but it was more to feel the warm flex metal on his feet. Having a texture moment before triggering the tank to start tightening again. Once more forcing Sam to curl up tight until he stilled. 

It did not hurt, and maybe this was how Bumblebee got his human out of the panic attack... Stress attack? Something-attack. 

The young man let himself go mostly limp, as his body was inadvertently manipulated by the ripples of muscle cables. It was not quiet, but...kinda was. Like the constant ADHD buzz in Sam's head had been filled with was nearly not there. Maybe he has just been absorbed in all the steady sensations. The muffled sounds of Bumblebee's frame outside the tank. The heat that had long since seeped in. The constant warm fluid, almost water-like sensation. The tank itself goes through a kneading-like phase.

...the nanites that had long since seeped into the human. Giving just enough numbing and blocking of pain from Mission City.

At some point, Sam slipped back into unconsciousness. Perhaps starting as sleep, but shifted into that deeper state. As much as surrendering and trusting his alien guardian, as perhaps being affected by Bumblebee's nanites. 

Sam barely stirred at first as Bumblebee's broken hum vibrated through the human and tank. Altering to a pleased sound as the mech found his human still alive and well. Bumblebee shifted in his spot, stretching, checking his scanners and remote scanners. Making sure he was safe to finish recharging the week away. Ratchet was dozing not far with Ironhide on watch. 

The formerly isolated scout settled down again with a sleepily pleased feeling of being full. Of having that warm bioenergy pulsing in his tank.

Definitely worth the scolding he had gotten. But his human was calm, safe and...safe. no kidnapping a second time.

At least from Decepticons.

Technically Sam was in an odd kidnapped, or abducted, situation by human terms.

Bumblebee rolled over, stretching his joints and back. Not at all minding as Ratchet stooped to check both the scout and his internal systems.

"He's at least adapted to your nanites." Ratchet said in a bemused tone, speaking cybertornian. Patting Bumblebee's head, smiling at the happy churring. "Just take good care of the boy. The lingering AlSpark energy on him is at least helping you heal as well." 

Bumblebee hummed again, more a happy grumble as he was at least glad Sam was old enough to not be questioned too much where he had gone. Optics dimming again in the hidden base as he felt a faint flutter and pulse of bio energy. Mostly alone again, at least externally, Bumblebee patted the rough spot over his main tank. Flexing experimentally until he felt that flutter pick up as Sam finally woke up again to squirm against his tank. 

Bumblebee could not help but chuckle, his voice rough and a bit hitching as he spoke for the first time in a long time as he sat up. "...good ...boy. Little human. Lit-tle friend... My, good boy. Going to stay... In there, for no-ow. Nice and safe."

He teasingly tapped his armor at the same time as flexing his tank. Until he had a compact ball of soft, warm bio energy. A little ball of soft human trying to wiggle and squirm against his tank, though no bleed of any panicked energy like when Bumblebee first tried his stupid idea to stop his charge from his panic attack. 

It was almost like Sam was enjoying the tight dark space?

Bumblebee relaxed, reaching for the energon that had been left for him. The flutter returned as the now well awake human moved. 

"...good boy." Bumblebee said slowly in english, almost experimentally and was rewarded with another little wiggle at the bottom of his tank. He squinted happily as he realized that even now Sam still responded best to positive words. 

The mech pulled his mask back, pleased as he started to drink his energon. Letting it go to his main tank with Sam, and getting all sorts of interesting squirming from his human. For a good long time as Bumblebee stretched out once more. Playing some music to himself, keeping a theme of reassurance and praise. Optics dimmed as the mech let himself just enjoy the soft movements in his now truly full tank before dozing off into proper recharge again.

He was safe, Ironhide and others were helping stand guard. Bumblebee could let his guard down.

seeing mikey after he’s had a long hard day and giving him the soppiest, saddest little pout. all “aww, my baby, is life being too hard on you?”

“yea,” he pouts back, dark circles under his eyes. and you open your arms wide for him, pull his face into your chest and squeeze your love into him. holding him tight and rubbing his back, all while cradling his head to your chest.

and his muffled voice comes through your embrace, cheeks flushed and pink to the ears, “m hard.”

(Basic context is that AU of Duel Desinties where the phantom impersonates Phoenix to get him found guilty of Clay's murder, I talk more under the cut abt it jkhlj)

-Basically meant to be a parallel to turnabout trump, cause if you can have ONE boss get found guilty of murder, why not a second one?

-OK basically: everything in DD happens normally until like- a day before clays murder, Phoenix gets yoinked by the phantom somehow (he is still alive, just being held captive), Phantom is still Fulbright, but they've decided to be silly goofy (target Phoenix and get him found guilty of murder, escape police custody and then murder phoenix and make it seem like Phoenix accidentally died while on the run, thats why they didn't kill phoenix right away unlike the real Fulbright) there is an imposter amo-

-I dont have the logistics as to how this affects solving Metis's murder, and how it effects what evidence is used n whatnot and turnabout for tomorrow as a whole, so im just going nuts HGJKHLJ

-Originally I was actually imagining this taking place during turnabout for tomorrow and I wanted that case to be apollo v klavier instead of phoenix and edgeworth and thats why klav is in here instead of Simon (I decided that Simon got badly injured and couldn't stand in court for the retrial, so klavier was asked to step in)

-The courtroom bombing still happens the same way it does normally, but Apollo decides to take up the case again instead of taking a leave, instead of like, you know, healing from the traumatic event that just happened, turnabout countdown still happens as well

-Apollo and Athena do not find out about the phantom's existence until well after this trial, so they have no idea that Phoenix could've possibly been replaced, though simon, after hearing about the trial, might be suspicious about whether or not that was the real Phoenix

-The Phantom had been not only keeping an eye on Simon for a while, but was also stalking Phoenix and Edgeworth after they both started looking into UR-1, so they were able to impersonate phoenix so well that not even his own daughter thought that anything was up (though while Trucy did find him a *little* bit off, but she figured that it might've been the bombing that caused him to act ever so slightly weird, so she didn't pay much mind to it until she heard about his confession in court and realized it might've been because he possibly, ya know, killed someone)

-it's pretty much just switching Athena being framed for murder with Phoenix, and instead of the trial ending on a cliffhanger, it continues on (probably with Klavier insisting on it) ending with soloman being found innocent and Phoenix being declared guilty

-There's a couple days inbetween the end of the cosmic turnabout and the start of turnabout for tomorrow, so Athena, Apollo and Trucy all get a little bit to process the fact that "oh god my boss/my dad killed someone" (simons execution date is pushed back a bit in this au) and they probably get to talk with Klavier and eventually a lil bit with Simon after he gets out

-Im not sure how it all winds down in turnabout for tomorrow (Phoenix escaping and being at large is basically the perfect cover for the phantom to resume being fulbright for that trial) but they do eventually realize that the phoenix who confessed wasn't the real one and now there's a search on going to find out where the real one is being held captive, hes fineeee just ready to take a week long nap and a good vacation (along with every other waa member)

-I dont have anything else to add on rn but if you want to add something or just throw in a scenario feel free to!! this idea has been bouncing around my head for like a month now and Im very happy to finally show yall it

‼️ART TRIGGER WARNING: Mild body horror/gore

Sooooo I kinda unexpectedly deviated from what I would consider my normal art preferences here. Mostly because I’ve seen a lot of talented artists drawing their own renditions of menacing Puzzles fanart where he goes fully insane and whatnot. I wanted to also contribute to that trend somehow…although it’s slightly out of my usual comfort zone << especially with his recent design change of loosing his whole lower body lol. Adapting that into my art was an interesting experimental challenge

Here is my own take on Puzzles falling apart! Quite literally! I still wanted to add a bit of empathy in here for him tho— because I’m going to be so distraught if WOTFI 2024 is his resignation from the spotlight for good. His final bow on stage if you will; the grand finale of his performance before he departs in death (MAN I SURE HOPE HE DOESN’T DIE BUT THE FANDOM SPECULATIONS AND PARANOIA ARE GETTING TO MY HEAD. And it just seems like the narrative progression is leaning that way). Well not matter what happens to him this upcoming Saturday…this tragic TV guy has impacted me in unexpected ways and I’m just so glad we got to spend and entire year with his character. And he’s sure not gonna disappear from my art anytime soon. Hopefully I won’t be maiming him ever again after this though jksjsksp he’s suffered enough angst for now <3

my new idea for couples with chronic communication issues and conflict avoidance: every 3 months you have to come up with all the reasons you should break up. you may want to approach these meetings with the disposition that you WILL break up at the end--so think about the good, the bad, the ugly: whatever you'd want to say if you thought you wouldn't speak again. and then see if you can talk yourselves out of it.

some benefits:

requires both parties to regularly reflect on their satisfaction in the relationship

knowing you will have an opportunity to air grievances, you can better judge the urgency of emotional crises (eg "I can't wait a month to talk about this, things need to change NOW" vs "i'm feeling iffy but i think i can wait and see how things evolve for a while"

allows for patterns to be better observed over time

turns the potential of breaking up into an opportunity for growth and learning, rather than loss and destruction

as you repeatedly affirm why you should stay together, the relationship becomes stronger and more secure

potential challenges and points of concern:

both partners need to be open to this practice and to approach it from mutual respect and care; without equal buy-in it can cause anxiety and grief, with one partner dominating the conversation

the practice in itself is incomplete and benefits from standards of communication; these are left to the audience to decide

exceptionally avoidant people may use these sessions to abdicate responsibility toward dynamically assessing and communicating challenges outside of the session; sessions are not substitutes for communication as issues arise

partners may feel urgency to have a "complete" or "airtight" case, and feel dread or pressure to rush issues within themselves before they are ready; space must be made to live in ambiguity, raise questions that don't have answers, and to check in over multiple sessions

consistency of the sessions may prove challenging but i believe it is necessary for it to function--if the session is not taken extremely seriously i think its power will be nullified

Making lore for the night furies for my httyd 3 rewrite concept is painfull because they're genuinely one of my least favorite httyd dragon species. I mean some of the reasons for my dislike of them I'm getting rid of but that doesn't make it any less eye-rolling.

my favorite scully moments from s2

after the x-files are shut down, she gets moved to teach at the academy, and in episode 1 she does a little monologue on how a person’s body is a physical manifestation of a lifetime, which one of the students describes as “spooky”

when mulder sneaks off to puerto rico in the same episode, she goes into his place to try and figure where tf he went, and prevents his sneaking about being caught by the investigators who broke into his home with the power of feeding his fish

lecturing about the dangers of eating raw steak in episode 2, then getting lost down a rabbit hole of worm science

when no one was answering the door in episode 3, she just walks in. this made me laugh hysterically, i cannot explain. both of these guys WILL enter your home.

every single time she is a bit of a medical nerd, like when she learns about the surgery that allowed people to survive without sleep in episode 4, which she describes as “incredible”

(and the freckles + flower earrings combo were also a fave)

when she scans the piece of metal that came from duane barry in a grocery store in episode 6, and the cash register goes crazy. and she denies involvement and just walks away LMAOOO <- honestly i'd do the same!!

she wakes up from her coma in episode 8 and wants to write a thank you note to the nurse that took such good care of her, only to learn no such nurse ever existed. scully got to witness the paranormal for once!!!!

in episode 9, someone brings up a volcano scientist in conversation, and she says she had heard he was brilliant, which means that somehow she is keeping up with volcano news. she is a woman of many layers.

being deeply worried about this scared looking grad student she just met, and once again not waiting for an answer to enter her room and figure out if she is okay

(and when said grad student is being consumed by a fungus, scully thinks quickly enough to get herself locked behind a door, keeping herself safe, despite being handcuffed and otherwise looking death by fungus in the face)

in episode 11, mulder walks into his office, only to learn she has been there and has been going through his stuff since 6 in the morning. queen of getting results!

in the same episode, an old man overdoses on mushroom pills, and she shifts into Doctor Mode, yelling about “ventricular fibrillation” and “milligrams of lidocaine” and it was, like every other time she goes Doctor Mode, so deeply satisfying to watch

when she meets the two cops in episode 12, and can immediately tell they are having an affair and that the detective is pregnant, and despite the detective pleading with her not to tell a soul, the absolute MILLISECOND she is reunited with mulder, she spills the tea. and he is SHOCKED! <- arguably my favorite moment in the entire series so far

(and, to make the woman feel more comfortable, she confesses to also having had feelings for coworkers before which. elaborate on that, please)

but she really does care; when the detective ends up in the hospital, scully brings her a change of clothing <3

when she is so shaken by what she sees in episode 13 that she goes to the FBI’s onsite therapist; she’s too scared to tell mulder how she feels because “i don’t want him to feel like he has to protect me”

(as if there was ever going to be a choice; he is the protector and he Will protect, it's just his nature)

((and then later sobbing into his arms, realizing she doesn’t have to always put on a front))

toads start falling from the sky in episode 14, so she rationalizes that they likely came from a nearby tornado. this is a scully-approved theory.

they’re investigating a murder in the same episode, and a teenager starts pouring her absolutely horrific trauma out to both of them, scully holds her while she sobs into her jacket

honestly any time either of them know weird information, i love it. she says that it would take hours for a snake to eat a man and then weeks for it to digest in episode 14, and mulder makes some funny remark but it’s sooo endearing to me. she knows her snake facts.

then in episode 15, she notes poison in someone’s blood, but specifically that the poison comes from pufferfish eaten in Japan… girl i’m crying, she just knows stuff!

during that same case, they get rooms near each other like always, and she knocks on a door thinking it’s mulder’s. he doesn’t answer. she walks in and hears water running, so she just talks to him through the door to the bathroom. and i love this so much. i love that they are close enough to just walk into each other’s rooms and talk from behind the door while the other showers. it’s such married behavior.

working on the case in episode 16, we see her at home wearing a flannel, checking her computer, still serving looks but now giving casual

(and seeing the art she keeps on her walls- little postcards of beach scenes <3)

in the same episode, she knows mulder left to go get himself in trouble, so she bursts into skinner’s office to ask for help. but she feels bad for barging in on skinner, so she apologizes to him. which was very sweet.

when mulder is gone, she goes to his apartment to look for clues, and falls asleep on his couch

(and when X knocks on the door, she knows he is hiding something, and screams at him to tell her where he is)

this whole monologue from episode 17, which i loved more than life itself:

“several aspects of this case remain unexplained, suggesting the possibility of paranormal phenomena. but i am convinced that to accept such conclusions is to abandon all hope of understanding the scientific events behind them. many of the things i have seen have challenged my faith and my belief in an ordered universe, but this uncertainty has only strengthened my need to know, to understand, and to apply reason, to those things which seem to defy it”

(and that is just Her, isn't it? the need to understand, to rationalize. the worldview shaped on science- if she doesn't understand something, it's because a key piece is missing, and she'll find it. because the world Has to work that way, has to be bound by a greater logic, even if it is yet to be understood. to imagine otherwise would be impossible, to imagine otherwise would be to abandon hope in everything, and she cannot abandon hope)

((and maybe the idea that the world being something she cannot perfectly comprehend is a failing of her own understanding makes me a little emotional. but still))

she says that the whole loaves and fishes deal was a parable in episode 21; she is not a biblical literalist

(she then makes some sassy remark about things generating spontaneously, and mulder laughs in the corner. good to know he thinks she is funny)

every single time she answers the phone, she says “mulder, it’s me”, and idk i just think it’s so endearing

she thinks she might have been infected with a killer disease in episode 22, but mulder calls, so she tells him she’s okay and to take care of himself out there.... those are the last words she chooses, just in case they never talk again </3

and every time she says unsettling things, like “could be the residue of burnt human flesh” or “darkness covers a multitude of sins”, both in episode 23, i eat that up

reassuring her student who has just become a detective that she is doing just fine!!!

and then going to said student's funeral when things do not turn out fine... she loves her students that she taught for like 3 months so much :(

getting pulled aside by skinner and her bosses after mulder just acted wild in episode 25, and denying that she had seen any top secret files even though they say they will fire her if she lies lmaooo <- she is a ride or die!!!

but also going to his place, demanding assurance that she is doing the right thing by assisting him, and i love that. i love a character who will break all of the rules as long as they believe they are doing the thing that is morally Right, and that definition is so deeply her own, but she is committed to it, and she'll do anything to stick by it. and he just says something about getting the code that he wants broken, and despite how awful he's being, she goes through with it anyway because it's the Right thing to do.

later, her being the one to realize that mulder should not leave the house after his father was killed because he will be the prime suspect (he does not listen to this sound advice)

he stumbles into her place with a million degree fever, and she carefully lays him down in her own bed, despite the fact that he is soaked in his dead father's blood. and she takes care of him.

this one honestly deserves its own post because it is so incredible, but: shooting mulder with enough precision to get him to knock off his wild behavior that was going to make him look like he killed his dad, but not actually HURT him, then finding out krychek was putting LSD in his water, knocking him out, and driving 2 days to New Mexico to get him where he needed to be. AFTER he had been acting wild because he was inadvertently drugged, and had accused her of spying on him and being a traitor. that level of love is deep. very very deep. she is a Lover.

I'm only halfway through it, will finish it...later. but my biggest gripe so far with Troy (2004) is how much they are butchering Menelaus. And not just by mispronouncing his name. He's portrayed as a cruel brute and I'm like bro. He does not deserve this treatment 😔

I understand some changes due to cultural shift and the nature of a different medium but. Why'd you gotta do Menelaus like that?

as much as i sympathise with the spirit of those ‘i hate harley’s new design posts’ because yeah a lot of them are really really bad. and ur right to complain. i dislike how a lot of them end up circling back to the idea that the only good design for her is her btas jester suit and that any deviation from that is like. inherently bad? idk. i get that people love her classic look and that a lot of her modern designs may not be as aesthetically pleasing in the same way (fair and valid) but i just cannot get behind the idea that she should/would not change the way she dresses and presents herself post joker breakup. someone whose presence in her life was so suffocating that she struggled to define herself outside of him for so long (on both a meta and narrative level). she was literally created to be his sidekick and i mean!! there’s a lot of baggage in that. so of course she would reinvent herself! idk to me i think its important for her to look distinct from the way she was when she was his sidekick because shes not that person anymore. designs have always changed alongside their characters’ evolutions.. this is literally comic books. i have my own gripes about harley’s modern designs don’t get me wrong but the idea that we should go back to the jester suit. idk something about it doesn’t sit right with me and i don’t think it makes sense for her at all. sorry

Just wanted to say that I don't think either Angrboða nor Atreus were in the wrong during their interactions. They're literaly just two kids with limited socialization meeting another peer. Both have pure intentions. The only "negative" moments were misunderstandings, Atreus' impulsiveness or Angrboða's overall carefulness caused by her ''desire" to make sure she fulfills the prophecy that she grew up believing is her only purpose
