Dragonbane can be tough. Taking on a full fledged dragon in this TTRPG can be a difficult prospect at best. Here are a few ideas on how it might be achieved should a group be so foolish.

I'm adding a few strange and unusual mounts into my Hex-a-Day 2025 map. I'm monkeying around with some things ported over partly from D&D. Also messing with a new format that may or may not stick. We'll see how it goes.

Carnivorous Venom Toad secretes not one, but two horrible types of venom upon its victims. Beware of its saw-like teeth, capable of rending leather and chain armor alike. It's probably best to steer clear of this thing in the wild.

Adding in more details to various parts of the sandbox because the randomly generated hex content was appealing or because the hex is likely to be discovered by the group as they travel through it. Making the world a bit more meaningful and slightly more dangerous than random.

The terror of the Ice Asp has been reborn for Dragonbane RPG. Almost always found in snowy, icy regions, these asps pose a dire threat to any adventurers unfortunate enough to come across them. The best tactic for survival is to avoid them.

Checking in on this fine Wednesday. Trying to change the reputation of my new setting being all warm and fuzzy or muppet-like.

Woe is the hapless adventuring party that makes camp in the hunting territory of one of these adorable apex predators. Behold, the Giant Weasel! Vicious, stealthy, and sometimes cute.

Debatably the kings of the undead, Liches sit on a throne of villainy, evil, and powerful magicks. Very rarely do we find better beings to become un-lifelong bad guys/gals.

Monday Monster: Animanikin
I decided out of respect for Ernie Gygax's passing I would put off anything involving zombies and such for a week or two. It didn't seem terribly appropriate. Instead here are small wooden kung fu golems.
Compatible with Dragonbane RPG. Description: Small men carved from wood, animated by magic. Usually serve a mage or other spellcaster by protecting an area, acting as an alarm, or doing menial tasks. Resistance: Half damage from normal piercing and bludgeoning weapons, Fire does double damage and limits their actions to movement or one normal initiative action (attack, evade, cast, etc)A little…

Monday Monster: Velocigoose
It's the Monday Monster. This week's entry is far from cuddly or lovable. If you thought Canadian geese were rough, these monsters stand shoulder height to most humans and have bills full of pointed teeth.
Compatible with Dragonbane RPG. Velocigoose Description: A carnivorous goose standing about two meters tall. It has a bill full of razor sharp pointed teeth. They are known to travel in packs of up to eight members (2d4) and are almost never encountered alone. Their wings are used mostly for protection and do not allow the creature to fly. Its front talons and webbed feet end in razor sharp…

Monday Monster: Beast Kin
We're back with a new Monday Monster. This time we're tackling Beast Kin, a non-playable NPC kin resembling those found in Warhammer Fantasy, Diablo, and Old School style tabletop roleplaying games.
Compatible with Dragonbane RPG. Beast Kin Little is known about the true origins of these rather monstrous looking kin. They appear as humans from the neck down, but have the head of a sheep, goat, bull, dog, ape, or some other animal. There have even been reports of vulture headed Beast Kin. Goat Kin or Sheep Kin are the most common. Despite their savage reputation, most Beast Kin are quite…

Monday Monster: Dragonbane Orcs
With all of the recent excitement about Orcs from a different fantasy TableTop RolePlaying Game, I thought it might be nice to look at some that are just fine as-is. Thank you, Free League Publishing. Great job!
These are Dragonbane Orcs. No muss. No Fuss. Just Orcs. From the Dragonbane Bestiary: Countless battles have been fought between orcs and other kin. However, few besides yours truly will acknowledge the cause of these misfortunes. The orcs I have spoken to during my travels said they encountered arrogance and ignorance wherever they went, that they were often subjected to outright oppression…

Adding Bits and Greeblies To Your Monsters.
Take an ordinary monster and use parts from another monster to make it extraordinary. Rules? Make those pesky rules fit the monster you've imagined.
AKA Kitbashing On Paper. Back in my Warhammer 40,000 days I had a Bitz Box full of extra parts leftover from building various minis. (I played Orks, so it was customary to tack a z onto the end of words instead of an s.) ORKAMANIA, Brother! Waaaagh!! What’cha gonna do, Brother? (Had to get that out of my system.) The Bitz Box was useful for Orks and my WH Fantasy Undead for making certain…

Dragonbane Skills Are So Much Easier To Deal With.
Dragonbane has rapidly become my favorite Fantasy TableTop RolePlaying Game system for many reasons. One is the skill system. It's simple, clean, and intuitive. Please try it sometime.
I’ve tried a lot of different systems over the years. I love this one. I think Dragonbane pretty much wins the prize with its d20 roll under system. It threw me for a loop initially. I was like, “How do I hit stuff?” Oh, you roll against the weapon skill. Character has Swords 12. Roll 12 or under. 1s are called Dragons. That’s a good thing. 20s are called Demons. That’s a very bad thing most…

Monday Monster: Tree Octopus.
The Tree Octopus, part of the reason characters do not wander through the forest at night. The 1d8 att*cks are due to 8 tentacles. Based on a "real world" creature.
Compatible with Dragonbane RPG. Tree Octopus Description: These monsters come in a variety of sizes and color. The smaller ones are relatively harmless unless they are disturbed in some way. Having a little sap covered octopus stuck to one’s face is annoying and quite disgusting. They mostly appear during the day.The larger ones sleep in the canopy of trees during the day and come out to hunt…
