People - The #tuesdaygt is back!! . This time with a real Classic - @hendricksgin . If you would have to name THE Classic Gin, what would it be to you?🤓 . Produced in Scotland, Hendrick's is known by many, if not all, gin lovers.🖤 Made of Juniper and coriander but also cucumber and rose petals this unique taste is known for most, and one could easily pick it out in a blind tasting (at least I think one could)🧐 . The bottle is as well a classic looks-looking in the form of a old cough syrup bottle or some kind of medicine, this design and label is well known all over the world. I must admit I have never tried this gin in a cocktail, because if I ever want a fool-proof hit of a GT, I quickly turn to this gin - The cocktail adventoures must be next in my really long to-do list of exciting cocktail craftings😇 . Today I paired this gin with the most excellent Classic tonic from @tailoredtonic - Really compliments this scottish gin and let the gin shine as it should💎 . Furthermore I used the kit received from @applytaste , called "Martee" containing dried Arbequina olives and leaf, alongside some dried cucumbers - perfect for the gin? I think so🥒 . Tuesday means many things🥂 . But in my little world it often means a #tuesdaygt😇 . Do you Tuesday GT?🤓 . This little tradition of mine (and thankfully to many others) is a great milestone in the week - 3 more days till the FriYAY sip and maybe even more GT's (you can safely leave out the "maybe")😅 . The Gin World has for sure seen a great experimental period and sometimes one can be in doubt if it's even "real gin" that you have in your hands - for some gin Lovers it’s the classic juniper heavy kind, for others it can be both floral, infused, coloured, injected, active-coaled etc - as long as it tastes real, natural and delicious I'm all for it👌🏽 . Also the Tonic water World have seen some changes spanning from pink to mediterranean orange - and now also BLACK🖤 . Yes you heard me🖤 . @weisswange_beverage have introduced this german made black tonic. It looks mad and ones suspicions comes to mind while raising ones eyebrows. Can this really be tonic, and is it legit?🧐 . Weisswange uses activated charcoal to make this liquid black "gold". The ingredients come from organic farming giving this tonic a very unique aroma - balancing between sweetness and acidity. I actually find this tonic quite to my liking - not being too dominant it lets the gin unfold - although the deep black colours tells you differently - this is indeed a eye-mind troublemaker - I prefer to sip this with my eyes closed otherwise I let me eyes decide what to taste and feel about this - this opens a whole new way of sipping; the shuteye sip😜 . Paired with The Duke of Bavaria (the gin it is) bringing a juniper/eucalyptus nose and taste to this black beauty, as well as some liquorice, I felt like I was in for a treat - perfectly suited to a grand Tuesday💪 . I love these National "booze days" whether it being National Margarita day, National Mezcal day and so forth. Today I officially claim to be National G&T day😅 . With that being said I was in a playing mood🕹, so instead of going straight to the classic, I played around with this great and quite healthy classic. More on this later in this post, but first some enlightenment🤓 . What is Cola syrup and why should you try it out; even in a Gin & Tonic . First of all you really need to like Coca Cola (or similar) before you proceed to read the next paragraph😇 . Cola is very often used in cocktails, especially the classic ones including rum. The syrup itself is used to sweeten the cocktail, but also to add a "hip" element to the cocktails. I really feel it can spike up the cocktail and the interest in it . Since the Cola syrup is very caramel-like in its taste, use it as such (my recommendation). You can quite easily make it yourself, by boiling up Coca Cola (adding sugar is optional) and reducing it to about half. Let it cool and pour into a glass container. Boiling it even further, about 1/8 of the original amount, makes it a Cola reduction (very thick). This can be used to top off cocktails. Instead of making it yourself, you can also use the quite excellent, made for you, Cola Syrup by @34oztonic @34oztonic.eu . Enough talk, more action🎞 . A couple of days ago I reviewed the quite interesting, excellent and minty gin by @skin_gin (if not allready go check it out 😇🙏🏼) . Thankfully it’s #tuesdaygt so I got to use this great gin again. I wanted a G&T but as I often tend to do, I had to experiment a bit; The gin has some exquisite notes of mint and I wanted to take advantage of exactly that 😋 . So I brainstormed (for about 2 seconds) and a Mojito came to mind 🤓 . This is the result; . Express and include 4 wedges of lime 🍋into the glass Add 2 drops of Tonic bitters (@thebittertruthcompany ) Add plenty clear ice ❄️ 5 CL gin (@skin_gin ) Top with dry tonic (@erasmusbond ) Garnish with fresh mint 🥦(iPhone needs to add a Mint and a lime emoji ASAP 🙃) Enjoy 💙 Skål 🥂 . Allow me to bring back my little tradition I call #tuesdaygt , where a nice refreshing G&T is enjoyed . Sooo Spring is still not here, so had to do a indoor shot today, in my Homebar - accompanied by Louis Armstrong on Saxophone and vintage vinyl, using a tasty gin I Got from @lahvino . Todays "fun facts" will touch the area of Rosemary 🌱- I often use it as garnish and it really works brillantly in a classic G&T addint a herbal experience to the package . The name of Rosemary originates from the Latin word rosmarinus, meaning “mist of the sea” or “dew of the sea”🌊 . Rosemary is part of the mint family, together with Basil, Lavender, Oregano and many other herbs🎋 . In the 16th century, Rosemary was often burned in sickrooms as disinfectant to kill germs💉 . Ancient Greeks believed that Rosemary was a magical plant that could strengthen memory���� . Safe to say I still believe this, and is the ONLY reason I drink as many G&Ts as I do (with Rosemary as garnish)🙈😇 . Today I used the Italian gin from Malfy, which showcases coastal lemons and a juniper-forward flavour profile. Using wild Italian juniper alongside 5 botanicals, this makes for a dry and crisp tasting notes. Notes such as Juniper, anise and spicy coriander combine wonderfully👌🏽 . Paired with the Classic tonic from @tailoredtonic this was as fresh and classic as they come - perfect tuesday sipper, while looking at the rain drop💦 .
